The whole "Finn getting less violent arc" can be tracked back all the way to episodes such as "Diamonds have power", "Henchman" or "Holly Jolly Secrets" when Finn starts realising the world's not so black and white as some villains are just victims of the magic world they inhabit and some monsters they might fear aren't actually evil at all.
It's really cool to aknowledge the contrast with the "I kill anything evil" Finn.

    • @ivegotbadtaste9181
      @ivegotbadtaste9181 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

The green knight myth actually matches really well. A foreign power (Morgan la fey) sends a champion(green knight) to a cellibration who then challenges a knight (gwain) and beats them (kind of). Just replace the brackets with gumbald, Fern and fin respectively

After some deep research (More or less) in the details of AT's past & I found all the answers to my questions in an unexpected place aka "AT's comics". I found the comics talking about Finn's past lives that were showen in the season 2 eps "The Vault" and, but only the comet and the butterfly were the ones that had the conclusions hidden in them.
The comet comic was about showing Finn as a comet (but not knowing that he was finn of course) where he felt sad that when he will hit he ground lots of people are gonna die and the dark space calls for him to follow his wake and save the planet he's heading towards by discovering the endless wonders of space but the comet sais after some thought that if he follows his desires by denying his identity that will lead to nothing but him being imprisoned by these wonders and changing the fate from it's course, then he realises that he's just a comet and that he can't do anything about it and he becomes glad and content that he's a him and he's doing his job quite well. Then I asked myself "why is he so positive? I know that he usually like this when he's Finn but why as a comet? I mean if anyone was to be handed this job he would be terrefied" and for the answer of that question comes the butterfly life comic.
In this comic Finn is just a butterfly that flies around in a forest, but then comes a black wind that strikes the butterfly but with no damage dealt, and the speaks to the butterfly saying "Be the hero, fight my evil!" and Finn replies that he's just a butterfly but the Dark wind keeps following him and keeps telling him to fight, so these two are the exact opposite and the dark wind & the dark space are the same thing "THE LICH". Finn & the Lich are eternal rivals because it's what they're meant to be, the lich knows his role as a villain and as the negative side of life and he does what he has to do, but Finn does what he has to as the positive side of life but only as the role his life forces him to do as a hero. From all of this we find that Finn is just a mere mortal reincarnated in many lives why representing GOOD in the universe whle on the other hand the Lich is a soul ordered to do his job in existence as the incarnation of EVIL.
You wanna know what Golb has to do with this? Well, the Lich said that he was the last scholar of Golb wich means that he was ordered to do his job by Golb as the incarnation of EVIL.
In the eps of season 5 "Puhoy" we saw Finn live his life until he died in the pillow dimention, and when he died he somehow entered the void of Golb and returned to his dimention. You know why? Because Golb saved him from dying for the purpouse of keeping balance between GOOD & EVIL (Also that approved that time passes diffrently in dimentions) and seeing how he ERASED Margels from the entire multiverse and crossing Prismo in the season 5 eps You Forgot Your Floaties makes me wonder if he's the one that Prismo's so called BOSS, and i noticed that the projectiles floating around him are similair to Prismo's time chamber wich explains why he has so much control over the multiverse (If it was true)
In conclusion, we know that Finn & The Lich are eternal rivals because they're pawns of Golb who made them the incarnations of GOOD and EVIL being the most supreme being in the multiverse.
I hope I got to something in here and let me know what you think guys, thanks :)

True, you need 4 jewels but FP and SP are friends with PB, and I'm sure IK would also lend his Crown jewel if asked.
Although, funnily enough, that also nullifies Gumbald's plan as well. PB did tell the story of how her family came to be to Finn, Jake, and Marceline, so they should be able to realize dumdum juice was at work. If Finn did end up hugging PB, he could have just reverted her if he found LSP and got the jewels again.

In "The Pit", Samantha says "I conquer till I am conquered... by love, or by the hand of an adversary." The Candy Kingdom is, I think it's fair to say, the most powerful kingdom in Ooo, so I'm sure Samantha recognized this and set her sights on conquering it, since it will be the most challenging. Also, Lady Rainicorn and Princess Bubblegum have a long history as BFFs, so maybe that factors into her being a "Candy Kingdom Hater", since in her debut she was flirting with Jake.
Also, I think Me-Mow is all grown up, not just bigger. You can see how she has curves now, which she never had when she was teeny tiny. Maybe because she's a cat-person she ages super fast?

So he's likely there to either get back at Finn and Jake for messing up his plan to get Marcy back, or with Marcy herself for said break up and following face kicking.

This is all reminding me of the first episode billy was in. Billy was telling finn to seek out alternate actions to problems than violence, and it blew up in his face each time. Of course, billy ignored the nuance that when evil comes knocking, one must fight it until the end of the episode, where finn makes the case FOR violence. I like to think that this change in finn started from billy's suggestion to help people in other ways than fighting.

Gote the Capricunt that wasn’t the shows/writers fault because the producers fucked it up by telling them they will only get one season (which is why it ended pretty solidly) so when they suddenly said btw you get a second season they had to rush to make it (which is why it was the worst season of any show ever.) but once they had a bit more time season 3 and 4 got a bit better. Not much tho. Anyway that’s what I was told and read on why it wasn’t exactly the shows fault.

Great video! One thing you got me thinking about, is how this theme of "growing up" applies to PB as well. She used to be very domineering and manipulative but has mellowed out with her experiences, realizing and coming to trust the value of others as more than tools. However her relatives never got that chance to grow up (given their long imprisonment as morons) and, like Fern without a Jake, this has lead them to questionable behavior. I wonder then, if gumbald has been in PB's place those ten seasons go would he now be seen as the good guy? Anyway, point is, the gradual changes brought on by time continue to be a major theme in the show. Everything stays, but it still changes.
Oh, and hey, looks like Gumbald's main building is a retrofitted ancient ziggurat. Guess who loves ziggurats? Ancient, heathen gods. Who's a heathen god who has story threads in the finale? That's right! Party god = final boss! Or Golb, I guess that works too.

I think that aunt lolly was just trying to get rid of gumbald. Since she saw jake could stretch, so she knew that Finn would be safe, but didn't think that he would save gumbald, so he would splat and lolly could end the war like she did at the end of the dream sequence in the finale. Which is why she had an evil look on her face, looking at gumbald.

I kind of wish this had been a 26 episode season so we could have seen a little more onscreen development of Gumbald's city-state, as well as more episodes to address The Gum War and whatever is supposed to happen with GOLB. Outside of his inexplicably advanced technology, I wasn't sure why Gumbald's faction was treated like such a serious threat before this episode, since it seemed to just consist of four people. With that being said, I have been enjoying this season as a whole, and "Gumbaldia" was a particularly strong episode.
I really liked the ominous tone that was present throughout. between "Whispers", "The Wild Hunt", and this episode, Sam Alden seems to be very good at creating a tense atmosphere, and I wish he had been able to board more episodes this season. It also gave Gumbald some much needed characterization; whereas before I just saw him as a one-dimensional mad scientist stereotype, I now see that he is essentially a dark reflection of Bubblegum the same way Fern is for Finn. If she hadn't course corrected after the event of "The Cooler", then PB's morally questionable traits could have easily worsened until she basically became exactly like her uncle. Likewise, perhaps Finn could have eventually down a similar route as Fern if he hadn't moved past his deep seated insecurities and violent tendencies. At first, I was disappointed that The Lich was probably not going to factor into the final conflict, but now that I see what they seem to be going for with the current antagonists, I'm more satisfied with how it is shaping up. It will be interesting to see how they manage to tie GOLB into all of this.

Why does every main character in the series (excluding Ice King and BMO) have a horrible biological parent? Finn's dad was a conman who would manipulate ANYONE to get out of a bad situation, Jake's biological dad (the alien, not Joshua) literally tried to steal his son's life, Bubblegum's family tried to poison her, then declared war on her, Marceline's dad is the literal Devil (in the world of Adventure Time, anyway). The only character we constantly see in the show who doesn't have a terrible biological parent is BMO, since Mo was a pretty nice guy.

Of course it could, everything would still make total sense. Even if PepBut didn't take the blow but PB noticed the dumdum solution, she would still probably go straight to war. • @darthgoku1580
    @darthgoku1580 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Okay, I've got quite a bit to say about this episode, so here we go. This one was my favorite episode out of the four. Finn's character development at the beginning of the episode where he wants to find a peaceful resolution rather than resorting to violence like he usually would shows that his character has come a long way since the early seasons, and it makes me think that he might find some way to redeem Fern. At first I was hopeful for a peaceful resolution when Gumbald expressed his intentions of not wanting to go to war, but then I realized something felt off with how sudden his change of heart was, and of course it turned out to all be a ruse. I also really loved callbacks to the earlier seasons, and this episode had a lot of them by having all these minor characters show up at the end. It really makes a lot of the one off episodes from the show feel like they were meaningful and not filler.
There was one thing about this episode kind of bugged me though. I know that this is a cartoon with cartoon logic, so some suspension of disbelief is required, but I call bullshit on how Gumbald able to create this massive candy city out of nowhere so quickly after his return. Unless he created some candy people of his own to help accelerate the construction, there is no way he could have built all that by himself. I suppose you could take into account what Finn said in Temple of Mars about how Jake has been gone for five weeks, which shows that a decent amount of time has passed that might allow Gumbald to build his candy city, but it still doesn't make much sense to me. I remember that there were also some leaked images floating around that showed a nightmarish version of Gumbaldia, but since that didn't show up in the episode, I'm thinking that it might have been unused concept art or part of a deleted scene. If not, it's likely that they were images from the finale Come Along With Me. Perhaps Golb might have something to do with it, like maybe he creates some kind of nightmare reality in Ooo, which could tie into the Nightmare Juice from the end of Orb.
As for my theories on how the finale Come Along With Me will go, your guess is as good as mine. I thought the whole Gumbald plot line would get resolved before the finale, but it looks like it will continue on into it. With all these major plot lines still left to resolve, I can't help but feel that the finale is going to be a huge clusterfuck. Hopefully it won't be as bad as the ending to Samurai Jack. At least with Adventure Time it will be getting an extended length episode to space out all these plot points rather than having a single normal length episode where everything had to be crammed into it, which was the case with Samurai Jack's finale.
These are the main plot lines that that will absolutely need to be resolved in the finale: Gumbald, Fern/Grass Demon, Golb, and Betty/Ice King. That's four plot lines coming together in an episode that's going to be the length of four episodes, so theoretically that's one plot line for each of the four parts of Come Along With Me. Can they pull it off and make an ending that does not rely on some kind of deus ex machina to resolve everything? Maybe, but only if they cut out all the fluff and focus solely on the story elements. I'm going to be brutally honest here, if we want to have an ending that actually makes sense and doesn't feel rushed, then some things, like for example the romantic pairings and slice of life stuff, are going to have to be ignored in favor of properly developing and concluding those main plot points. You can't always have your cake and eat it. Whenever a series has tried to do both with its finale, it often just ends up feeling half-assed.
On the topic of the Candy Kingdom Haters, the way I see it, it's not that they all hate the Candy Kingdom, but rather the people in it, particularity those who they feel have wronged them in some. Each of the people in this band of villains has some sort of past beef with either Finn, Jake, Marceline, Princess Bubblegum, or Peppermint Butler. Some are more justified in their feelings of hatred towards the Candy Kingdom, while others just seem to be in it for revenge. Out of all of them, I think the ones with the most legitimate grievances are Pete Sassafras and Peace Master. Pete Sassafras got screwed over big time by Finn and Jake when they just left him to rot in jail even though he was innocent, and Peace Master's children were turned into demons by Peppermint Butler for no other reason than to screw with him. I guess karma came back to bite Peppermint Butler in the ass because now he himself was transformed by the dum-dum juice. I wonder if he'll ever be changed back though. Maybe Lumpy Space Princess could use her anti-elemental powers to change him back to normal.
Perhaps the worst out of this entire group of villains are Bandit Princess and Ash the Warlock. Finn and Marceline, respectively, were each hurt on a deeply emotional level by their actions in the past. I can definitely see Bandit Princess and Ash teaming up to form some sort of Bonnie and Clyde type duo to get back at Finn and Marceline. Also, is Fern really okay with working alongside Bandit Princess considering what she did to him when he was still the Finn Sword? Not only did Bandit Princess steal the Finn Sword from Finn, but in a way she also stole Fern's innocence by using the Finn Sword to murder a whole bunch of people against his will, all while he was powerless to stop it and could only watch from the inside.
The Candy Kingdom may need some help in dealing with these villains, so I can picture Finn and Jake having to go around gathering allies to form a group of their own to counter them. It could include Marceline, Lumpy Space Princess, Huntress Wizard, Flame Princess, potentially Susan and Frieda, and anyone else they can find. I'm not sure if Finn will be able to defeat Fern in combat though. The two of them are like mirror versions of each other and are of equal strength, so a battle between the two would likely end in a draw. If Fern is to fight someone, I think it would be pretty cool to see him fight Huntress Wizard. It would be a battle of plant magic with his sword versus her bow.
Based on Finn's recent approach of trying to find a non-violent solution to the conflict, he might try to redeem Fern. If he were to fight Fern again and outright kill him in combat, then Finn wouldn't really learn anything from it because he already killed Fern once before. Redeeming Fern without killing him will be Finn's symbolic way of forgiving himself. I can picture Fern saying something like this: "You can't beat me Finn." and in response Finn says something like this: "Then I won't fight you."

I think the bit with PB going old school and using film could have been for reference/comparison to the world wars (which this imitates - the armament wars in which both sides keep on developing weapons out of insecurity (“theyre forcing my hand”)) One poem that the red room scene especially reminded me of is “the War Photographer”. I think the whole experience just makes it seem much more grim and serious, elevating the tensions for this finale.

Ok, I thought I finished adventure time but there’s a ton I haven’t seen. I wonder where I dropped off. I’m going to find where I left off, but this channel is helping me see it’s definitely worth getting back into.
I don’t think I ever disliked it, I just got busy with something’s

I just want to let you know that you are a great person and that you should be yourself and not let others tell you what you can and can't do. You're the kind of person that will be part of something big one day. Keep it up.

I was rewatching the episode recently, and noticed: the error you mentioned at 13:53 might not actually be an error. I think that was Sir Slicer sitting in the chair, not the Green Knight. You can tell from the armor details and the lack of horns.

Anyone else think that fern will help fin based on his lerking in this episode, like when he said they are family it made him remember his friends and help him realize that he’s being used for evil

I suppose Ash the Warlock is on Gumbald side because Marcelline is on Bonnie side. Same with some of theses characters, they don't necessarily have a grudge with the candy Queendom itself but with its allies.

I feel like one of the reasons Gumbald chose not to take Finn's life in Seventeen was because he saw it as unnecessary, maybe he had already come up with the plan to utilise Finn to get rid of PB and he was simply trying to minimise the casualties? I don't like Gumbald but even villains don't want to massacre everyone?
