Maybe this is strange to say but: Crumb has really matured. He used to be this grimy underground seedy character, now he's a mature, intelligent and grown-up individual... Amazing to say
yes, it's really refreshing to see an easy going crumb for a change. this is the first interview were he seems reasonably comfortable in and likes to talk about what he likes the most
Great interview, and captures how oddball us 78 collectors are. If you haven't heard it, the soundtrack fro the documentary film "Crumb" is quite good.
I used to pore over my grandmothers records and play them on a victrola...loved the art work from early 1900's... some of the songs like MariaElena I still find wonderful.
For the record, Alma Gluck is rightly considered one of the greatest concert sopranos to have graced the stage and recording studios. Even the popular, non-classical songs that Gluck committed to disc have charm. Thanks!
I agree. Actually the first 78's I ever scored as a kid were by Alma Gluck. It was this old junk store in Seattle area that really had no name, just had sign in the window "Buy - Sell - Trade". As kids we spent hours in their picking through those big stacks of 78's, I think they were 10 cents each.
Very nice... lovely! There are actually two places, used book stores, nearby where 78s are still sold, for 50 cents and a dollar. Often enough there a good, even great finds, and yes including our Miss Gluck. Thanks and Cheers!
yeah, crumb's brush and ink cartoon bio of charlie Patton is second to none....and nothin like puttin on some janis joplin while starin at that awesome cover stoned out

I’m a new 78 collector (33 years old) and I come back to this interview whenever I want to remind myself why I got into them lol

New. Favourite. Podcast. THANKYOU for sharing this wonderful music with the world. .x.x.x
Really interesting to see Crumb discussing something he's so passionate about.

Me and a mate have recently got into 78s, plus where we live is real old fashioned, it's brilliant
He was busting his ass for pennies. He does good shit, love it all.
Wow...a happy Crumb? Glad to see it.
I was a Teenage 78 collector.
Then my storage unit burned down, along with my youth,

Paul Rudd is interviewing Crumb?
Mr. Crumb aged into his face and personality very well, based on this 12 year old clip. Didn’t recognize him!

Crumb was born to be old
Alma Gluck: she's rather an acquired taste nowadays... Some might think of her as the musical equivalent of Margaret Dumont.... ;-)
