Top tip I heard if you have a disc lock is to use it on the rear disc . 2 tea leaves can lift the front of a bike but try to lift the back and put it in a van is a whole different ball game.
I'm with you on the tank pad and knee grippers (I'd go for stomp though) My no 1 is going down a tooth or two on the front sprocket. Manufacturers over gear bikes to get through noise and emissions. Dropping a tooth at the front will make the bike feel more powerful. My no 2 would be HH sintered pads. Both mods under £50 that transform a bike.
TheMissendenFlyer you're right. And there is the associated cost of a speedo healer fixing the speedometer miss reading if it's taken from the front sprocket. I still think it's the best mod cheap mod.
Good stuff. For £50 my personal recommendation would be distract the wife somehow, garden centre, nails, hair etc etc and bugger off for a day somewhere nice.
Definitely agree with the heated grips, had some fitted on my Triumph America 8 years ago, after saying I wouldn't be seen dead with them, now wouldn't be without.
Your videos are getting better and better. You're pushing out some great reviews and these excellent and informative guides (which I like the most). Even though you seem like a hobbyist TH-camr, keep up the good work. I believe the response from viewers must be very rewarding. P.S.: It seems summer has caught up with you guys in England
Each 2 there own, was impressed with Oxford grips, just connect to the battery and clever controller goes into standby mode at petrol stations when the engine get switched off. Start engine again and they automatically switch on. Works a treat and do they get very warm too, best bit is they are thicker too making for comfortable grip just connect to the battery. Sound like an avert!!!
Yes I hear the Oxford ones are pretty good, just that they are over £50 plus I've had two sets of the R&G grips which have proven very reliable and great value....
Another 'Mod' for less than £50 that I'd recommend is crash bungs. For something designed to get damaged (by way of saving the bike from getting damaged) there's no point spending 100's on a pair. I think crash bungs should be a top priority mod for any bike.
I've just fitted a set of SW Motech crash bars, and a R&G tail tidy to my Honda CB125R. It looks a lot better, the tail tidy makes a big difference. Talk about well put together, Honda must get the strongest man in Thailand to tighten up all the bolts!
Well done for owning up to setting off with disc lock on , have done it myself in past in middle of town right outside costa coffee .Have the same alarm disc lock now.
Yes the ones with the alarm are good for alerting you to that issue! I actually was ready to pull away when a car stopped and told me I had the lock on - oops!! (numpty alert)....
I know we're talking way over £50, more like £200, but by far the best bit of kit I bought was a hydraulic platform for my bikes. It is so much easier to clean and tinker with it at eye level - also great when you get older and have a stiff back - like me! Great review and ideas as ever. Cheers, Jon.
Nice add-ons. I would add to them a cell phone/GPS holder. I have made my own for free and love it. Beats getting lost in a new area or stopping every 5 mins to check your phone for directions.
Hi TMF. The best thing I've ever bought for less than £50 was my chain tensioning tool. It's by tru tension. Not technically something on the bike but even as a quick check every time I clean the bike it's well worth the investment.
Yes I only thought of them after I finished filming! Would defo have been at number 2 or 3 I reckon....think I'm going to have to make a "part 2" to this one because I've thought of loads more great cheapo accessories since!! Cheers for watching....TMF
Awesome video as always TMF, glad you're using that now 😀👍🏁👏😀, i'd have had trickle charger in that lot, and popped protection as one item not two . . . 👍
Funny you should mention that - I have a video on my charger in the can, which is why I didn't mention it specifically here (might have to add it to a future "part 2" though)....
I used to buy non-branded tank pads and stick them upside down on the tank so the wider part of the sticker is the lowest. Personally I think that's how they should work. I know there'll be heaps of counter arguments to this but I found the most damage occurs closest to the seat and I just never found the protection sufficient with the sticker right way up. Just thought I'd mention this.
Well on your recommendation I got the disc lock from amazon, but had to take the batteries out as it was always going off, puff of wind would set it off, and it does not come up on any insurance approved disc lock, but worth the money
I have almost all these mods on my bikes. All of which are a must. But I've never tried heated grips. Normally if i go for a winter ride.. at the point I can't feel my fingers that's my call to head home Lol...👍
another great video. did you make one about fitting the levers? other worthwhile mods could be a flyscreen especially if it is naked bike and hand guards which also do a good job of keeping hands warm.
Thank you EekaMouse, it would be product placement if I had a product to place!! That mug is very much a one-off (well OK a two off to be completely fair)...it is good though in'it?
Well done mate.. I'm jealous of your bike collection and admire the way you've been able to keep them so clean, despite the weather in old blighty! Think you'd like riding in Australia..
Another vote for EBC sintered HH pads. Puncture kit for if and when you have a flat out on the road so you are not stranded. Right angle valves make topping up the tyres so much easier.
Thank you Adam, I had been putting out 4 a week but I'm thinking I will settle down to three - on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as 4 a week was taking over my life!....
love your videos..u explain things very well..along with my previous request (2017 honda 650f review), can you also please put a video on how to clean bikes and use wax, detail shines, etc
Any information on DNA Air Filters? Have you fitted a performance air filter to your 1200GS? I have a 2011 BMW R1200 GS, and just wondered if there is any noticable difference on performance.
All ways new fresh thinking on your channel I love it ,, any chance on some test rides on Harley Davidsons would love two here your thoughts and honest review on them ..
Thank you Stevie....and nothing planned yet but the Harley ride is very much on the cards, it's a glaring omission from my portfolio!! (...and I need to see what all the fuss is about!!)
....it takes so much time researching, filming, producing videos, answering comments etc as well as fitting in the rest of life I honestly don't think I have the time to stuff parcels, go to the post office, etc, etc....!!!
I disagree with the levers. I bought an SV650 which already had aftermarket cheapo chinese levers. After getting it back on the road, they didnt disengage the clutch correctly, the lever had to be UNDER the hand grip to fully disengage the clutch. There's a reason why levers come as stock, or dealers have suggested levers such as ASV.
Well I'm sure if you go cheapo cheapo there are some bum levers out there, all I can say is I have found the cheap ones I have to be just as good as the originals and look much better - when you can pay upwards of £100 for pretty much the same thing from the premium brands (or bike manufacturers themselves) I can't help think I'm being ripped off somewhere!
My neighbour has an old BMW R80 fitted with a water cooled twin cylinder diesel engine. Weird or what, but there's more he's plumbed the water from the engine through the handle bars! Now that's what I call heated grips.
MF you are a champ, some great info. Any chance we could get a video with your opinion on various tires? I realize it's a big topic but even just a cursory overview of your top choices for various applications would be great.
Thank you Nurgle Rider - I have done the odd tyre specific review - the Michelins on the CRF for example, the Avon Spirits on my GS and I soon have one coming up regarding my Street Triple's new boots - but I've not done a generic video on them.....one to add to my list - Cheers!
Well I think you're the 4th person to mention it, so maybe there's a limited edition run :0) ...seriously, why would anyone want my "merch"!! ...the mug is strictly a two-off....
Hello TMF - Gordon W here, I'm sure you're aware that Captain Rambunctious does a range of Merchandise for Charity: vloggersmark.com/product-categ... in his case all profits go to Air Ambulance Charities - £1 from mugs, £4 from TShirts and £7 from Hoodies...etc (Note he does several Mugs), he has about 5,000 views vs your 14,500 views, so you might be able to generate a fair income for your chosen charity. Just a thought. PS: I'm good at making suggestions for other people 🤣
TMF - use these guys for merch - you supply the design and they print/fulfill - you don't make much money but it's cool and allows 1-offs to be bought by your fans :-) www.spreadshirt.co.uk/ (select "Sell) - create your own shop with your gear
Most of the brake and clutch levers for my CRF250L on eBay appear to come from China. They look good in red but at about 16 quid, including postage, are they any good?
I've got all the mods advised here however I'm just missing one which is a rounders bat to fend off the bike thieves when they try to forcefully steal my motorcycle.
I personally wouldn't recommend the cheaper levers. After using ASV levers and cheap Chinese levers, the difference is night and day. Sure the asv are expensive but worth it. I've had cheap levers now that haven't fitted properly, one seriously affected by braking which scared me silly, and the other wasn't disengaging the clutch properly and wore it out prematurely. I now stay well away from them.
I'm definitely getting those brake and clutch levers for my Triple, the standard ones are looking quite tatty after 10k miles. Might go with a disc lock too. Excellent video mate.
Cheers Bobby - Lots of people get upset by it and then I don't do it and people get upset. It's just a catchphrase - if I don't do it I'll have to start with "What's up You Tube?" and I hate that with a passion....
Pro Tip: If the back of your tank is already scratched up from your jacket zipper, just slap on the tank pad after the fact--completely covers up the scratches, and no one need ever know that you failed to protect your tank.
Coincidently, I've just had an email from Monimoto about bikes being nicked. According to them, Greater London, the South East, and the North East are the areas reported to have the highest number of motorcycle thefts.
@@TheMissendenFlyer Yep, it's bad everywhere, especially in big cities. The best thing you can do, is to make it harder for a thief. Use two locks, one with an alarm, and a tracker. I've just bought the Litelok on your recommendation, and I really like it. I like the way you can wear it like a belt, and it's also thin, you can thread it through your frame. Also, I'm looking at the Pragmasis RoundLock, according to Bennetts it's one of the toughest disc locks they've tested, and it's very small. I will probably fit an alarm/immobiliser as well, as the RoundLock doesn't have an alarm. One of the best things you can do, is to put a cheap cover over your bike, and then put a lock though the wheel holes. It comes in handy for say in a big city. If thieves can't see the bike, then they usually move on to the next one. Of course, if they know you have a certain bike, and they know where you park, then a cover isn't going to help much.
I'd be very wary of brake levers that are so cheap. There were a few stories on forums a good few years ago regarding cheap levers bought off eBay and them failing under hard braking. Hopefully manufacturing quality has improved since.
When you ride your CRF250L do you find yourself pressing the horn button when you think you are operating the indicator switch. Honda should be forced to recall all their newer bikes and have 'proper' switch gear fitted. Hey Ho.
So many TH-camrs decide to put the same catchphrases and sentances intro'ing their videos. "Hey Kids", "Stick around and stay tuned for the next few minutes"....Missenden I always skip 30-40 seconds into your videos these days :D
Top tip I heard if you have a disc lock is to use it on the rear disc .
2 tea leaves can lift the front of a bike but try to lift the back and put it in a van is a whole different ball game.
Great Tip Annie - thanks for that (I put one on each and use a chain just to be sure)....
I'm with you on the tank pad and knee grippers (I'd go for stomp though)
My no 1 is going down a tooth or two on the front sprocket. Manufacturers over gear bikes to get through noise and emissions. Dropping a tooth at the front will make the bike feel more powerful. My no 2 would be HH sintered pads. Both mods under £50 that transform a bike.
Indeed...unless you get a workshop to fit them, then it blows my budget...
TheMissendenFlyer you're right. And there is the associated cost of a speedo healer fixing the speedometer miss reading if it's taken from the front sprocket. I still think it's the best mod cheap mod.
Yes I don't disagree with that - along with suspension set-up.....
Good stuff.
For £50 my personal recommendation would be distract the wife somehow, garden centre, nails, hair etc etc and bugger off for a day somewhere nice.
Yeah good call, like it....
Hedge hog lol
Definitely agree with the heated grips, had some fitted on my Triumph America 8 years ago, after saying I wouldn't be seen dead with them, now wouldn't be without.
Your videos are getting better and better. You're pushing out some great reviews and these excellent and informative guides (which I like the most). Even though you seem like a hobbyist TH-camr, keep up the good work. I believe the response from viewers must be very rewarding.
P.S.: It seems summer has caught up with you guys in England
Yes it lasted for about 5 days - I enjoyed it! Evenings are drawing in now though...
Each 2 there own, was impressed with Oxford grips, just connect to the battery and clever controller goes into standby mode at petrol stations when the engine get switched off. Yes funnily enough they were about 6 on my list.....
can't find a set for my bike for less than £178!. and that's from R&G.
Yes i thought they were more pricey than £50 I must admit ;0)
Matthew Jackson
Try JayBee Biker Bits, same quality as R & G but a third of the price
Paid 35€ for my alarmed disc lock on Amazon. Brilliant. Also use a high quality bike padlock which is quick and visible to use.
I've just fitted a set of SW Motech crash bars, and a R&G tail tidy to my Honda CB125R. It looks a lot better, the tail tidy makes a big difference. Talk about well put together, Honda must get the strongest man in Thailand to tighten up all the bolts!

Yes the ones with the alarm are good for alerting you to that issue! I actually was ready to pull away when a car stopped and told me I had the lock on - oops!! (numpty alert)....
I wasn't that lucky tried to get a full rotation of the wheel "Whack!" only on a 125 back then & only thing that I hurt was my self esteem .
Yes I have thought about getting one of those, not sure I can really justify it given the amount of work I do on the bikes, but I do like the idea!
Give yourself a few more years and owning one will be compulsory! :-)
Yeah maybe....
Great idea. Too bad I dont have the space!
Nice add-ons. I would add to them a cell phone/GPS holder. I have made my own for free and love it. Beats getting lost in a new area or stopping every 5 mins to check your phone for directions.
+Lorne Scott-Wilson Yes, had it been a top 6 that would have been next!
Hi TMF. The best thing I've ever bought for less than £50 was my chain tensioning tool. It's by tru tension. Not technically something on the bike but even as a quick check every time I clean the bike it's well worth the investment.
Thanks for that Danny....
TheMissendenFlyer keep the videos coming. Would be good to go for a ride together one day I'm local to you. ATB !
Heated grips absolutely essential - would not have a bike without them.
I thought you might have added the grip puppies. After your video a while back I bought 4 sets . Love them
Clive Bishop I did the same thing. Absolutely love the Grip Puppies.
Yes I only thought of them after I finished filming! Would defo have been at number 2 or 3 I reckon....think I'm going to have to make a "part 2" to this one because I've thought of loads more great cheapo accessories since!! Cheers for watching....TMF
A disc lock is not a mod. But I took your advice and bought one, so thanks

Just thought I'd mention this.
Good tip Jacob - thanks!
Top tips there chap, it's sometimes harder to allocate the small expenditures than the bigger ones eh. Take it easy
Agreed, although since I filmed this I've though of loads more items I missed, so I might have to do a "part 2" Top five cheapo accessories.....
Well on your recommendation I got the disc lock from amazon, but had to take the batteries out as it was always going off, puff of wind would set it off, and it does not come up on any insurance approved disc lock, but worth the money
I used first aid alcohol wipes to clean my tank before I put the tank protector on...worked a treat.
Yes very good point - baby wipes are also brilliant for a quick detail.....
Ive never tried heated grips before, At under $100.00 I must give them a go.
I have almost all these mods on my bikes. All of which are a must. But I've never tried heated grips. Normally if i go for a winter ride.. at the point I can't feel my fingers that's my call to head home Lol...👍
Got to be done Fursteve.....
another great video. did you make one about fitting the levers? other worthwhile mods could be a flyscreen especially if it is naked bike and hand guards which also do a good job of keeping hands warm.
Yes good point on the hand guards - better add that to my list for part 2!! ;0)
TheMissendenFlyer I had a look at those levers on Amazon. Are they just for the Street Triple or do they do them for other models?
They have them for other models too, if you click on that link you should be able to look at similar items below and/or search from there....
I dont appreciate you always call me a kid...
Keep up the good work, enjoy the vids
I'm not singling you out specifically Martin...but it is nice to see you to see you nice... ;0)
Nice product placement with the mug at the begining TMF. I enjoy your
vids and the fact that you frequently post content. Keep up the good
work.
Thank you EekaMouse, it would be product placement if I had a product to place!! That mug is very much a one-off (well OK a two off to be completely fair)...it is good though in'it?
smashing...don't drop it
Very useful information and convenient you have put in the links..... 👍🏻
Cheers Glenn - good to have you along as ever....
Well done mate.. I'm jealous of your bike collection and admire the way you've been able to keep them so clean, despite the weather in old blighty!
Think you'd like riding in Australia..
I would very much! One day I will make it happen. Thanks for watching...TMF
Great stuff as always 😃heated grips are definitely a god send when it comes to chillier conditions. Deserved number 1 spot!
The bikers best friend in chilly ol' England eh?
Sorry TMF if this is a silly question but do the heated grips restrict fitting bar end mirrors?
I don't see why they should, I have mine on the CRF with the handguards mounted on the bar ends, like you would with bar end mirrors......
All my bikes I fit a12 volt din socket. Using it I can power heated clothing and charge phones, etc. Then winter time also plug the battery in. 😊
Yes good point - I should have mentioned that - one for "part 2"!
Hi Andy just came across this vlog, really good and still relevant. Would it be worth do an updated version or something similar?
Yes probably is Nigel....
I think you should have way more than 30k subs... consistent top quality vids, regularly published and very interesting - thanks TMF.
Very kind of you, thank you...
I like the levers, they look cool and practical. I think I might order some of those on next pay day...
Why wait for pay day - they're a bargain! ;0)
Another vote for EBC sintered HH pads.
Puncture kit for if and when you have a flat out on the road so you are not stranded.
Right angle valves make topping up the tyres so much easier.
Yes good points - puncture kit for out on tour was number 7 on my list!
Perhaps you should have done a Top Ten?
Yes in hindsight I should have done....thinking I might have to do a "Part 2" to this one!!
Thx for your work and putting links below as well. Quality channell
Thank you Vstm - always good to hear from you!
Convex mirrors. Small & really helpful
Heated grips are the best.
Once again a great vid, how about one on fitting the brake levers and and heated grips when you next change a bike?
Good idea Joe - not sure when that'll be mind!
Damn TMF the videos are coming out thick and fast at the moment! Great job :)
Thank you Adam, I had been putting out 4 a week but I'm thinking I will settle down to three - on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as 4 a week was taking over my life!....
Great tips. You missed recommending buying a TMF cupboard sticker for £49.95 as your number 1 thing to buy :)
+Dave Clarke :0)
15 quid gets you a decent HID/xenon bulb conversion kit (providing your bike has correct projector lenses fitted already)
Yep indeed - did you see this one? >> th-cam.com/video/Y3IdEkD7HJc/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the video. How about the 5 most disappointing accessories? You know the ones you buy, fit to the bike and later remove?
love your videos..u explain things very well..along with my previous request (2017 honda 650f review), can you also please put a video on how to clean bikes and use wax, detail shines, etc
Well I do have one on how I clean my bikes >> th-cam.com/video/eZcP7KQ0mG0/w-d-xo.html
Any information on DNA Air Filters? Have you fitted a performance air filter to your 1200GS? I have a 2011 BMW R1200 GS, and just wondered if there is any
noticable difference on performance.
I like the new Logo. Great job as always!
+Nathaniel Allyn Thank you - you'll see it come into use more and more, I still have a few videos "in the can" that don't use it though...
What about those brake locks that lock your front brake lever, how do you rate them?
gonna order the disc lock and grips now
Another good video. Love that triumph, that's my goal after I'm tired with the sv650.
Which one, the T120 or the Street Triple??
TheMissendenFlyer the street triple. The bonnie is a beaut too but the street is a great bike.
Great and helpful video, as always! Keep up the great work, can't understand how you only have 30k subs :/
+iamtherealzombie Thank you!
Thanks for sharing that they all sound good to me.
Cheers Tony...thanks for watching - TMF
nice video, could you please do a review/first ride of the 2017 cbr 650f?
Would love too - just need someone to lend me one ;0)
TheMissendenFlyer I'll look forward to it
Another great review and nice coffee mug you got there
Cheers Jack - I can't believe how many people have mentioned my coffee mug, maybe I should start my own line in "Merch"!!
I say go for it
....it takes so much time researching, filming, producing videos, answering comments etc as well as fitting in the rest of life I honestly don't think I have the time to stuff parcels, go to the post office, etc, etc....!!!

You could be missing something here TMF, the TMF mug, you'd make a fortune , lol
Well I think you're the 4th person to mention it, so maybe there's a limited edition run :0) ...seriously, why would anyone want my "merch"!! ...the mug is strictly a two-off....
Hello TMF - Gordon W here, I'm sure you're aware that Captain Rambunctious does a range of Merchandise for Charity:
vloggersmark.com/product-categ...
in his case all profits go to Air Ambulance Charities - £1 from mugs, £4 from TShirts and £7 from Hoodies...etc (Note he does several Mugs), he has about 5,000 views vs your 14,500 views, so you might be able to generate a fair income for your chosen charity. Just a thought.
PS: I'm good at making suggestions for other people 🤣
id like to buy a mug please
TMF mug no less! Where can I get one?! T-shirts coming soon?!
Well spotted :0) ...and I'm afraid the mug is strictly a two-off, not sure anyone (maybe with you as an exception) would want my "Merch"!!
Well if you'll buy 500 I'll make it happen ;0)
TMF - use these guys for merch - you supply the design and they print/fulfill - you don't make much money but it's cool and allows 1-offs to be bought by your fans :-) www.spreadshirt.co.uk/ (select "Sell) - create your own

Thanks Any - I might look into that.....
Most of the brake and clutch levers for my CRF250L on eBay appear to come from China. They look good in red but at about 16 quid, including postage, are they any good?
+Nicholas Crocker For £16 its worth a punt surely!
Front 'fenda extenda' stick-on version.
Yes good one - I will add that to my top ten!! :0)
Interesting video. Take care!
I've got all the mods advised here however I'm just missing one which is a rounders bat to fend off the bike thieves when they try to forcefully steal my motorcycle.
Yes that is fast becoming an essential bit of motorcycle kit I think!
And make sure you have got a rounders glove as well just in case you get stopped by the rozz.
I have the exact same bar end mirrors on mt ST3R. Are yours on the opposite side or are mine?
+Moto Noob Neither, I've just turned mine inboard to look uber-coolio :0)
Is the "Triumph" writing upside down though? thanks!
Are the stripes and spots on your Speed Triple black or clear?
+Knightlore10 Black ones...
I'm definitely getting those brake and clutch levers for my Triple, the standard ones are looking quite tatty after 10k miles. Might go with a disc lock too.
Excellent video mate.
Thank you Steev...
TMF Which bike should i buy Street triple rs or MV agusta brutale 800?
Or the speed triple S
+sudeep ok Depends what you want it for - I'd go Street Triple....
Thank you for the video Take care
Great production as always 😊
Its just the "Hello kidz" that sounds a bit cringy...
Looking forward to the next vid!
Cheers Bobby - Lots of people get upset by it and then I don't do it and people get upset. It's just a catchphrase - if I don't do it I'll have to start with "What's up You Tube?" and I hate that with a passion....

Coincidently, I've just had an email from Monimoto about bikes being nicked. According to them, Greater London, the South East, and the North East are the areas reported to have the highest number of motorcycle thefts.
Yup - a well known fact I think.....
I´m certain about, is impossible buy aftermarket accessories to BMWs under 50!
Well if you only by BMW branded stuff then yes I'm sure you're right - even my model GS cost more than that!
Empty cup no doubt; technically correct film making 👍
Actually that cup did have bona-fide beverage in it...honest!

I'd be very wary of brake levers that are so cheap. There were a few stories on forums a good few years ago regarding cheap levers bought off eBay and them failing under hard braking. Hopefully manufacturing quality has improved since.
Yes a case of "buyer beware" I guess - so far I've had no issues.....
When you ride your CRF250L do you find yourself pressing the horn button when you think you are operating the indicator switch. Honda should be forced to recall all their newer bikes and have 'proper' switch gear fitted. Hey Ho.
Yes I used too a lot when I first purchased it, I've got largely used to it now and it's stored in my "finger memory"
So many TH-camrs decide to put the same catchphrases and sentances intro'ing their videos. "Hey Kids", "Stick around and stay tuned for the next few minutes"....Missenden I always skip 30-40 seconds into your videos these days :D
Fair enough - I could say "whats up you tube!" if you'd prefer?
Hey kid's.....
