UNLESS we have reason to believe Zoe would have made the first move then even then we can probably say that both of them would have grown up and gotten out of their high school phase and realized that their "love" was just hormones. It seems that either way you spin it, Evan was never going to be with Zoe. Ironically, his BEST chance was through Connor and the only way that he could have made it work out was to keep the lie alive, but keep it hidden. And even IF they still someone got together in high school we know that statistics show that a fringe minority of high school relationships end up in marriage. So even under the presumption that either party made the first move and they became a thing in high school, they DEFINITELY would not have been together long term unless you apply "movie logic" where the protagonist always wins and gets the girl in the end. But even under movie logic we are never told what happened to them down the road and thus we can reasonably conclude Evan would have never ended up with Zoe long term. My 3 cents anyway.

Dever is the highlight of this movie (and I like Platt). This sounds like her own voice, so I believe she's doing the vocals as well. Just an unmitigated talent.

And why couldn't the parents help pay for the orchard when they have tons of money? I think they just put too much pressure on that poor kid

I really think if the film had used Andrew Barth Feldman it would have gone a long way. He was really great at the role on broadway and still super young.

I think it depends on the voice quality you want out of Zoe as a character. Dever's lighter voice implies a little more innocence and naivete, while Dreyfuss' near-alto voice implies a little more weariness and passion.

I mean, they are actors for a reason. That’s something that I see a lot of people misunderstand. Acting isn’t being the same exact as the character irl yourself, acting is being able to change into any character and make it believable.

Kaitlyn was the best casting in this movie. I love Ben Platt but someone more age appropriate and lesser known could have thrived in this role.

From what I've read online I've read somewhere that he was gay but I don't know if that is true or not
He is, he recently got married to his boyfriend, who was also Evan at some point.
