    I was really hoping you were going to take off the cold side housing so I could see if Pulsar had installed the very important large o-ring that seals it against the back plate. Is that o-ring there and in place? Please let me know. Thank you

      @thestateofreal2533  3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Great question! Yes pulsar does have the cold side oring. I have never had issues with leaks there and at the gauge this turbo has hit 35 psi.
      If you ever have sealing issues at that point (I did on a Borg Warner efr 7163 and new o ring…rtv goes a long way)

    To clarify: The turbine housing inlet has an ID of 2.5” the OD of that flange is 3”
    This is important to know as some aftermarket companies specify their v band flanges differently. Sometimes they are spec’ed from the ID and sometimes from the OD. This can be annoying when trying to buy v bands as I found out with my last setup. Sorry for the off camera shot and confusion!
    The exhaust housing flange ID is 3” and OD is 3.553”

      Really? 3.5 od?? That would be great. I was avoiding PSR for this reason. They claim on their description it’s 3” od.. which would make the inside 2.5 🫣..
      It’s going on a 2jz Supra. Prob looking at 3584. But I’m seeing if the compressor cover with the 5” inlet will work on it.
      My main thing was trying to make sure whatever turbo had a 3.5 -4” exhaust

    Considering a Pulsar 3076 for an aircooled Porsche 911 engine. Whats the diff between the Gen I and Gen II? Since the car doesn't have a water cooling system, it will be used with oil only for cooling as well as lubrication... any advice appreciated.

    • @thestateofreal2533
      @thestateofreal2533  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If my memory serves me right, the Gen I had a different compressor wheel profile.
      With just oil cooled you can install a turbo timer which keeps your car on after you take the key out allowing the car to execute a cool down cycle. I’m not very familiar with Porsche air cooled engines but if they are just block/cylinder to air heat transferring and don’t have an external oil cooler then you can probably install one.
      All that being said the only downside to not having a cooler is what’s called coking (cooking of the oil on the bearding and seals). This has said to prematurely wear out the bearing cartridge of turbos.

      @thestateofreal2533  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank brother! I am always here to help. Reach out anytime.
      The best way to turbo charge a car is piecing good parts together. Ebay kits tend to sacrifice on quality which causes you to buy everything over again. Cast log manifolds are good to get your feet wet but chances are your going to move to a tubular one. You want to find a good schedule 10 or 40 tubular turbo manifold. You want to have a real name brand external waste gate and blow off valve as these are safety devices to prevent engine destruction under boost. Pulsar makes many different size turbos which gives you price range flexibility.

      You're gonna need a lot more than a cold intake to convert a 2021 Elantra SEL from a 2.0 NA to a 2.0 Turbo. It would be more cost effective to trade your vehicle in for one that is already turbocharged, and then upgrade that.
      Why? The Hyundai Nu engine does not have the internals made to handle boost, and the high compression ratio of the engine means there is almost no margin for error if you can somehow make it handle boost. Either Gamma (1.6T) or Beta (2.0T) swap it or trade for an N-Line or N.

      Great! I was beating on it yesterday! I’d say the only thing I have against it is the brass oil control fitting.
      I like those nice and tight as I have seen many a fellow car enthusiast burn up their entire engine bay because the oil feed line comes loose and sprays oil all over the hot manifold. When I went to make it nice and tight I stripped the threads right off it but this was easily remedied with a $12 steel one.

    While they do seem to be well made I’ve seen a lot of poor power results compared to the real deal turbo. My mate recently dyno’d his built skyline with pulsar g30-770 should have made about 600whp at his boost level and it made under 500. Complete disappointment.

    • @AndresFelipeVasquezFigueroa
      @AndresFelipeVasquezFigueroa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Pressure is created when there is a lot air flow but can't go inside the engine. So same boost on both turbos is the same amount of air. The problem will be if there is more lag in this one. So... why is turbos fault less power? maybe the problem is something else on the car... maybe there is not enough octane for that amount of pressure and ignition will be lower...

    • @CarbageRacing
      @CarbageRacing 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@AndresFelipeVasquezFigueroa same boost on both turbos is not the same amount of air that’s completely wrong. What it means is that this turbos flow lb/min is actually significantly lower than the real g30-770 so same boost on both turbos does not equal same power.

    • @CarbageRacing
      @CarbageRacing 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If what you were saying was actually true than 20psi on a stock turbo would make the same hp as a big ass turbo at 20psi which obviously isn’t the case.

    • @AndresFelipeVasquezFigueroa
      @AndresFelipeVasquezFigueroa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CarbageRacing are you sure or are you comparing 20 psi at 4000rpm vs 20 psi at 6000rpm? as i said on my previous comment. Pressure is an amount of airflow with restriction to go inside your engine. On every engine cycle your valves let air flow to the cylinder and that's consuming air and your turbo keep spining to hold that amount of pressure. If you can increase your valves size or camshaft advance... boost will be lower but you can see more power in your dyno. that's because there is more time or space to move that air into the chamber. That's how pressure works. You can also put your camshaft on negative values all the time to get 40 psi.... that doesn't mean more power at all... just more restriction... and more boost. if you can explainme why same boost at same rpm with same engine and different turbos can make more power... i will be happy to read and understand your logic.
