Question , Why are you using a 12 /13 ft rod in a boat ? That rod makes everything you do in a boat harder including landing a fish.7 .6 ft rods are much better in every way on a boat . I have caught salmon over 40 lbs using 7.6 rods Lamiglass /shimano /uglystiks ... Ihope this helps and catch more fish !
I do have smaller rods, I just keep these ones in the boat, because I never really know where i'm going to end up. Its also, so i dont have to purchase multiple rods. The ones I have here I can use for multiple scenarios. good for the boat, good for the shore, good for spinners, jigs, spoons. The bar fishing rod is longer (and not normally in the boat), about 10ft, but normally I use that from shore. My salmon rods are 8-9ft. I have sturgeon rods aswell, they're about 6ft, because I just use those from the boat. But yes, sometimes a smaller rod is ideal. I have a 7ft rod for trout.
Thanks for posting the most frustrating fishing video on TH-cam. You showed us everything you dais works great but in 20 minutes, you have no fish caught. Yikes.
But yes, no fish today. Its coming to the end of coho season and bar fishing is only open for a couple of weeks, but I mainly go out to relax and enjoy the scenary. Its called "fishing" right...not "catching"... ;-)

@jimlaporta8573 totally appreciate the honesty.
I'm testing a few looks, so that's great to know, thank you.
