- Fantastic Loco Mix at Carlisle:
Class 37,
Class 56s,
Class 90s,
Midland Pullman!
18 19 July 23
Filmed on Tuesday 18th afternoon and then the evening of Wednesday 19th July.
Among other trains and locos we see 37401 head to York and then surprise us the following evening heading to DRS Kingmoor depot with container flats plus a JUA nucler flask wagon, presumably after being serviced or refurbished.
We also have the Midland Pullman HST set returning empty stock to Crewe.
Colas are still using a pair of 56s on the Chirl Log train.
As ever in the evening, Freightliner used pairs of Class 90s on its three southbound intermodal trains.
Any observations are my own and not intended to show any authority and may show my misunderstanding.

Can't beat a classic loco!
Some beautiful and dramatic shots there, Les, containing many interesting trains! Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it
must be the catch of the year, that KUA well done for the video Les.
I suspect so, unless I get told of it being used with the carriages and armed personnel!
Awesome footage Les. The 56 & 70 sweeping through the station look amazing.
Many thanks!
Not often you see one of those flask wagons. I was told they carry military supplies. I saw it passing Railcam Skelton and it has a wheel flat so obviously they did not send it to Doncaster for a wheel repair. Blue pullman looking vey smart as usual
Fuel for new subs. I didn't notice a flat but I guess any refurbishment would be to the carrying part. Pullman does look good
Nice video les you were rite the highlight was 37401 twice 👍

Thanks
The KUA was a catch Leslie.
It certainly was unexpected
Crew change on a 70, love it.
Yes seemed odd but there we are
Leslie did you mean to put this on unlisted? I only saw it because it showed it in the playlist! Great video either way!! I was stood on the bridge at Carlisle station for 37401 with the flask!
It was there prior to me publishing - I put things as unlisted but publish usually alternate days. Anyhow its published now. I was surprised with the flask
@@LeslieGilpinRailways Ohh i See, I though that might’ve been what you were doing. That’s a good idea! I use railcam and someone had put a note saying it had the flask so I was expecting it but I was more surprised about the flat wagons 😂
Ahh Les……. Pullman reflections!…….
Seeing a lot of the Pullman at the moment
And gordon ogdon!!!!
Is that one of those MOD flask wagon thingies for submarine fuel?
Yes its for the Sub fuel, bigger than the domestic flasks and smaller than the flasks that arrive from abroad by sea. They don't see a lot of use other than for new launches.
Do the logs no longer run via the S and C?
In recent days the log trains haven't run from Carlisle. I believe that BSW, the company handling the logs, have focussed on loads from South Wales and Hellifield to Chirk. May be holiday week at Carlisle.
@@LeslieGilpinRailways thanks Leslie
😂
Thanks
Any idea why the Pendolinos were running so late?
Engineering works had shut the Trent Valley main line
@@LeslieGilpinRailways thanks.
