- Bo'ness & Kinneil Winter Diesel Gala with extra Steam!
Class 47 and the Scotrail push-ull set
Class 66 from GBRf
Class 37
Class 26
Class 117 DMU
Steam 4MTT!
29 Dec 24
It was a dry but extremely windy day across northern England and Scotland when we drove to Bo'ness on the Firth of Forth. My first visit to this railway and it certainly will not be my last. The wind off the Firth of Forth was 'horizontal' and very noisy and blustery!
47712 Lady Diana Spencer is still masquerading as 47709 The Lord Provost and 47711 Greyfriars Bobby and was at the Bo'ness end of most trains during the day.
The Class 66 had been named Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway on the 28th and looked very smart. GBRf really know how to make a loco shine! I overheard a volunteer say it had taken them 12 years to get a loco named!
The BKR provided the Class 37 Isle of Mull, the Class 26 Tom Clift and the DMU.
We travelled on two diesel hauled trains to Manuel (the junction with Network Rail) and twice on the DMU. All good fun!
The surprise was the BR Standard 4MTT not only in steam but shunting about in preparation for running the BKR's Black Bun Specials during Hogmanay week.
