Earlier in the Season I had said that for longest time I thought The Headband, which was essentially a Footloose parody episode where young Fire Nation students weren't aloud to dance was just filler. However, rewatching this episode where Aang & Zuko met these last 2 dragons & danced with them made me realize that by suppressing dancing it also meant the Fire Nation was unintentionally suppressing a key aspect of fire bending. This show was the king of foreshadowing & referencing even the smallest of details from earlier episodes.
Very good insight. Like Aang, we’ve been led to believe that fire consumes all and therefore, we must fear it. However, they demonstrated that throughout history, we have used this particular element to empower not just ourselves but our civilizations throughout the world, as well. Without it, mankind could never be able to reach to where we are now. To fully embrace the elements, they had to become one with nature, like for the waterbenders, their power is increased tenfold with a full moon. Earthbenders must feel everything they touch; which is why Toph is pretty formidable even with her disability to see. Plus, with Air being around us, Aang and his people are free spirits that have mapped the entire globe with ease. When Sozin decided to turn his nation into an imperial power, they have truly lost their way by using their gifts as their primary weapons instead of instruments of progress. All the more reason to keep certain things in secret so we can never forget where we come from, no matter where we are in the planet.
After many times of watching the series I realized Zuko doesnt like to dance and feels embarrassed about it because in the current Fire Nation dancing is not allowed and its seen as shameful Its pretty interesting
Well the thing is: Zuko IS a very, very good firebender. His problem is just, that the people around him are VERY experienced and/or firebending prodigies like Iroh, Azula and Ozai, so more or less some of the most powerful firebenders alive at the time.
Exactly! Azula is like top 5 best fire benders in the world by the time shes introduced, even tho shes so young But Zuko beats Zhao in the third episode and he grows SO MUCH after that, hes a world class fire bender too, even if hes not quite a Master
I almost forgot until you said it in the intro here that Zuko IS a big brother! It's so easy to forget because of how Azula acts and talks with him. But that probably did help him be a big bro to Lee. That might have even been the first time he could let his older siblings energy play out normally away from Azula.
17:35 They put the wrong scar on Zuko 🤣(they even will make fun of it in The Ember Island Players episode). 08:02 He said that because he had never been able to catch up with Appa flying before when he still chased them 😁 15:13 The music that was played by the Sun Warriors is also used in the end credits. It was based on Indonesia traditional dance which is Kecak ((loosely called "Monkey Chant") from Bali. I wanna say this because I'm proud Indonesian 😍
This is my favorite episode!! Beacause dragons, and it makes fire seem like a positive element! Also dragons, we learned how Iroh became so powerful by learning from the dragons. Also dragons
Deesh and Meeeee! 😘 Dee and I are on the same tear schedule. I don't cry when relatives die. I cried when my best friend died at 27. I cry from music, and I cry from ATLA and certain other shows. It takes a lot to get me to cry, but certain songs and certain moments from ATLA and Korra bust right through my walls.
This has been a really fun journey to experience with you guys. The dragons are amazing and seeing Aang firebend positively for the first times are my favorite moments. Thank you for sharing and looking forward to the rest!
We thank you SO much for watching along with us! We’re so excited (and sad) to finish ATLA but even more excited to start the Live action soon and then LoK 🤩🙏🏽 plenty more avatar reactions to come! ❤️
I think when we see Zuko beat Zhao in the season 1 duel and when he redirects lightning at Ozai this season, we see the potential for him becoming a master firebender, but I don’t think it’s until this episode that he finally fulfills that potential.
Dee talking about crying during music resonates so much. I've been a big time Bjork fan since high school. For my 35th birthday my boyfriend got us 7th row tickets to see her perform at the Shrine auditorium in LA. My face stung for an entire week because my eyes were salty with tears throughout the entire performance. I feel like I'm definitely Dee when it comes to how I experience my emotions, but more of a Meesh when it comes to being a Hufflepuff and how you two interact with each other lol. I'm so looking forward to The Southern Raiders episode of this season. I thought it was the next one, but I think we have a couple more to go.
Aww thank you for sharing this story 🥹 that is so sweet of your bf! Ugh, I have all the feels when it comes to music… just brings a different type of feel & healing. Haha! Each episode in the series get better and better.Everything and everyone among the 2 seasons before get together in the end of season 3,this makes sense, the last several Eps of season3 make me wanna cry and I actually cry and smile and laugh meanwhile.Just excellent show I ever saw.
Guys, sorry, I haven't even watched the full video yet, but Zuko is actually a master firebender! Sorry, I just couldn't let that stand. The only reason that Zuko kept training was because he thought he would have to fight a 100 year old, strong, experienced Avatar. The only people Zuko could not and has not managed to beat are Azula, Iroh, and Ozai. Two are older and more experienced, the other is a prodigy, who only appear in every few generations. Zuko beat Zhao, a grown Admiral! He was always practising against three of his soldiers and he beat all the Imperial firebenders on Azula's ship at the beginning of season 2. So, evidence tells us that Zuko is the forth strongest firebended in the world💁🏽♀️ Don't disrespect my boy like that😭 But it's okay, many people see Zuko that way, because that's how he sees himself, and the show doesn't explicitly make his bending important, but if you pay attention, you can also see that he's been getting better☺️ That's just some stuff you realise when you've watched the show a dozen times or when you read a lot on Tumblr😅
Hey Meesh and Dee "Happy Monday". I hope you two day have been going well. This was a great episode. Awesome to see Aang and Zuko who lost ability to use his firebender because he no longer want to rely on rage go on the journey to learn how to firebender from the Sun Warriors. It was funny to see Aang and Zuko getting caught in some mishap by them getting caught in the viscous slime. And the two losing their fire before presenting it to Ran and Shaw. I like how Aang and Zuko compliment each other. With respecting Zuko for getting them in the ruins by using his sword to reflect the light on to the stone and Zuko compliment Aang on being a talented kid. Aang and Zuko learning firebending from Ran and Shaw was a cool moment. Even tho it hilarious that the form is call the dancing dragon. But anyway I hope you two have a wonderful day. Stay safe, take care and stay amazing. th-cam.com/users/shortsilHBea_Dlw4?si=OsDj-2VKdZ22zgsU
Happy Monday, Rob! This was one of my favorite episodes out of the entire season 🥹😭 so many feels and I just feel like the fire bending from the dragons at the end is just so beautiful. 🔥 Have a lovely week ahead! ❤️ -D
@MeeshDeeReacts I completely agree that the Firebending from the dragons was beautiful. As well as some lore that the original firebenders, airbenders, and earthbenders.I'm looking forward to the next reaction. And I hope the rest of you two is enjoyable 😁
I think season 3 has so many great episodes BECAUSE it's just that well supported by the previous seasons. All the little plots and stories really come together as we're nearing the end, which makes me a little sad but also excited for you guys. I can't wait for you two to start The Legend of Korra. Some people don't like it, but I think it's really great in its own way. By any chance, do you guys take recommendations? I feel like, if you're into philosophical stuff and enjoy analyzing characters and their dynamics/relationships, perhaps you'd both like VINLAND SAGA. It's a highly rated action/adventure/historical anime, which I would not mistake as your typical action show where fighting is the core concept. It's surprisingly philosophical and if I were you, I would just go in blind with this show. Believe me when I say that it's also got THE most beautiful OSTs.
And so begins the trilogy that is, 'Field trips with Zuko' The Sun Warriors are based on Aztec and Mayan culture. Also something very interesting from "The Headband" episode, we learn that the Fire Nation doesn't dance. They don't believe in dancing. They don't even know what it MEANS to dance. But in this episode, we see that a dance is literally the most sacred, most ancient form of firebending. Dancing is integral to the Sun Warrior culture- the original culture of the element of fire. We see just how much the Fire Nation has perverted the element of fire- they no longer dance. They've forgotten their roots. (also another reason why that ep isnt filler) The sun stone is actually confirmed by the creators to be a dragon egg. A super cool detail: from this episode on, Zuko doesn't grunt during his firebending, like he does in all of the previous eps. Just slow controlled breaths, like Iroh was trying to teach him in the start of the show. Shows his growth thanks to the Dragon Dance and finding the true meaning of Firebending. And finally Aang: Aang's first firebending teacher back in Book 1, Jeong Jeong, who was all about how fire only brings destruction and pain which I think is just because his experiences in the military tainted his view of fire bending and this shows that while he taught Aang good lessons about patience and discipline he was not meant to be Aang's true fire bending teacher. Zuko is. And that's how he's able to forgive himself (for burning Katara) and Accept Firebending. Great reaction 😊. Have a great weekend 😀
Hi Mohammad! I love your analysis here and breaking down everything from the fire bending roots in dancing, to Zuko and Aang 🥹🔥 I think this is why this episode is one of my favorites of the series because of the connection Zuko has with the dragons and how he learns the “real” way to fire bend. He’s grown so much and finally realizing that uncle iroh was right this entire time. Also, just loving the “Kuya” vibes Zuko is to Aang in this episode 🥹🇵🇭 Have a wonderful week ahead! Trying not to give too much of a spoiler here. You see the dance of the dragon again when Aang announces his presence to Ozai’s air ship.
That’s a genius observation.
How do I see you at Every avatar reaction i watch, with always the longest comments. Lowkey Npc energy Ngl

Yeah Zuko is a firebending prodigy surrounded by once-in-a-generation geniuses.
