You too, please get into anime reaction it will grow your channel, Jujitsu Kaisan is an amazing anime, then there is a movie and now a season 2, please watch it, ull love it
One detail about Zuko’s fire bending: Since we’ve first met Zuko every time he fire bended he would grunt, until he relearned fire bending from the masters. He always had to force it out but now he does it effortlessly, a very nice detail the writers put in
This show really rewards you for paying attention to what happens during fights. If you watch the stances, you can see characters learning from each other.
Strength in numbers. Zuko started a chain reaction. He found the strength to break free and choose to do what’s right and that in turned influenced Mai, who in turn influenced Ty Lee. I think Azula was abusive for years to all three of these characters and it’s satisfying to see them stand up to her and break free.
Mai and Ty Lee's betrayal may be one of my favorite moments in the entire show, and it encapsulates their characters so well. Mai is not an emotionless person, and she's not weak willed. She bottles her feelings up due to having them silenced her whole life, but when something really matters to her, she acts. And Ty Lee, while controlled by fear, isn't a coward. She admires Azula for all of her strengths, but she sees her for what she is: a manipulative monster who would literally boil her own brother alive. You can see it in her face from how sad she looks on the gondola after they start cutting the lines. It just took an extreme stimulus (Azula and Mai potentially about to kill each other) to break through the fear that was holding her back.
I mean, it also doesn't come from nowhere. Azula has basically at some point implied the 3 of them were friends and Ty Lee and Mai just look at one another like "Euh...sort of?"
Azula has also spent a lot of time giving her best friends reasons to betray her. She forced Ty Lee to join and refused to trade for the safety of Mai's little brother.
Mai and Ty Lee are also best friends. Mai being in danger is what tipped her over the edge. She didnt even think abt what she was doing she just wanted to save her friend.
One of my favorite moments in this series: Mai- I love Zuko more than I fear you. In Spanish Mai mentions Azula’s name: Te equivocaste Azula. That’s epic. By the way, nice shirts 👚 👕 Besides the finale next chapter is my favorite one from the entire series. Such a great reaction! ❤
Even tho Ty lee didnt want to join at first she is VERY loyal to her two friends She ONLY takes action agaist Azula because Mai was gonna be badly hurt She sidnt really pick a side she kept her two friends safe, but its a shame Azula cant see it that way
Now maybe this is just me overanalyzing, but a hidden subplot in these episodes is Suki thinking the Sokka came here just to rescue her, where in reality he happened to just find her coincidentally. Its interesting since Azula had taunted Sokka with the idea of Suki giving up on him coming to rescue her, during the eclipse. So yeah if I were Suki i’d be glad Sokka found me but at the same time he never intended to, so mixed feelings.
**Spoilers for Korra below** Yeah, the more i rewatched the show, the more I felt weird about that. But for me I think it shows Sokkas flaw with very subtlety. That even tho he's good at flirting and might seem like a ladies man, he actually might not be good at relationships. Yes sokka and suki have a good relationship in ATLA but theyre literally teenagers in this. Its like a high school romance and we all know that most of those don't last. So imo that subplot in this episode is kind of foreshadowing that he and suki won't be endgame. And it stands true because we heard nothing about them in Korra.
Sokka had no idea where Suki was being held and no way to find out. He tried to get the info from Azula, but she wouldn’t talk. What else was he supposed to do - abandon their time sensitive mission and force Aang to fly around the world looking for her? Suki seems like a rational person. She’s not going to hold that against him, especially since she’s a warrior and knows sometimes the mission has to come first. And as soon as he knew she was there, he focused on getting her out. There’s nothing for her to have mixed feelings about.
@@artistfloor9 exactly, it's not like he gave up, he had his father to worry about which personally I think is more important, just like how suki would put her kyoshi warriors before sokka, they literally just met a few months prior compared to a father!
True. That is something to think about. But I feel like even if Suki wasn’t there, in my head cannon, Sokka would look for her after the war. Zuko would totally use the full resources of the Fire Nation to help Sokka.
34:30 Mai joined willingly but the first thing Azula did after Mai joined her was the decision not make the trade Bumi for Mai's little brother. Mai also cares for Ty Lee, she was surprised when Ty Lee joined Azula.
Zuko was never be able to beat Azula before. Azula had ALWAYS overpowered Zuko. And now they are so equal at fighting. And if you guys notice there's major difference on how Zuko firebend now. He used to be like 'grunt' or 'groan' when he firebends, means that he used anger and rage in his firebending. Back in Book 1 eps 1 when Iroh trained Zuko, Iroh said "power of firebending comes from the breath, not the muscles". After learning from the dragons (the original source of firebending), Zuko understands and is now much more calm in his firebending and didn't produce any sound of grunt or groan at all.
So much fun for me as a viewer to watch the two of you enjoy this series. It makes m so happy to see others enjoying this as much as I do. Fantastic job ladies!!!❤️❤️
I never really noticed that Zuko looked up to the sky before saying "that's rough buddy" 😂😂. "Perfection and power are overrated. I think you are very wise to choose happiness and love." Uncle Iroh's advice to Aang back in Ba Sing Se is essentially the same choice Mei made. Azula represents power and perfection while, for Mei, Zuko is happiness and Love. "I love Zuko more than I fear you" was her way of saying the same thing in my opinion. And in the end Ty Lee made the same choice. Sadly Azula was raised and conditioned by Ozai to choose the other option. I LOVE Mai 😫. Also here are Some of the foreshadowings to Mai's betrayal that I've found during my rewatches: 1. In The Drill Mai says that Azula can shoot all the lightning she wants at her, because she won't jump on the dirty water. 2. When they're in Ba Sing Se, Mai and Ty Lee trade looks when Azula talks about not trusting who is closest to you. 3. In the begining of Book 3 (specifically mai and zuko being a goth couple and hating the world), Mai side eyes Azula after she tells Mai to leave her and Zuko alone to talk. 4. In The Beach, Mai tells Azula to "leave her alone" while around the camp fire and proceeds to hug Zuko later on. And the Ty Lee betrayal is one of my favorite moments in the whole show. You don't see it coming, but the second it happens you INSTANTLY understand it. Ty Lee doesn't want to be here, she never did. Azula forced her to leave the circus and it's easy to forget that she's been a glorified hostage this whole time. Throughout the show she is always desperately trying to please Azula, and both Azula and the audience take it as loyalty. But this moment recontextualizes it all. She was never loyal, she was...scared. And the only thing that could snap her out of it was Mai being in danger, because that's where her real loyalties lie. Also Azula being a character who has probably never taken an actual L ever before in her life because she's literally just that much of a Perfectionist. Then she suddenly gets betrayed back to back by her only two friends in the world, aaaaand she gets completely folded too. Which is such a great way to start a devolution of the Perfect Antagonist. And my final point today is female characters. And the avatar has such a great cast of women. I think my favourite thing is that they're different types of strong. So often a 'strong female character' basically means 'female character with a tough, quippy personality'. But in ATLA: • Katara is compassionate and motherly • Toph is boisterous and sassy • Azula is cold and a perfectionist • Ty Lee is bubbly and outgoing • Mai is indifferent (to strangers) yet Brave (for someone she loves) • Suki is protective and a Leader. So while they're all warriors and they all have unique strengths and vulnerabilities. No one is untouchable and no one is completely helpless either. Basically, the writers treat them like human beings rather than token female characters. Well that was a fun reaction. I hope u have a wonderful day ahead 💗 💛. P.S.: Happy Valentines day to you guys 💝.
We always LOVE how insightful all of your comments are... but this... THIS is the one! I love the detail and analysis break-down of each of the female characters. So beautifully said. I really appreciate how the writers didn't make them basic, token female characters either but gave them each their own nuances that make us love their characters in different ways 🥹 Thanks for always adding value to our comment section and supporting us, friend! Have a great week ahead 💜
Likewise, when zuko was trying to give an “iron type” advice, he is essentially just saying there’s a silver lining to things. Which a few seconds later, we see that being sokka able to rescue suki 🙂
29:45 I dont get how they dare to cut the line. Never mind the warden Azula and Zuko are on the gondola. The only two heirs to the royal family. Can you imagine what Ozai would do to a guard who got his heir killed?
@@novastarburst3939 I think the difference is how Sokka has grown, he knows him at the village was an idiot with how he bulrushed things, plus they got even when boomerang straight up beamed Zuko
Oh for sure. It must also be said that Katara didn’t go around telling everybody exactly what Zuko did in Ba Sing Se. If Sokka had held Aang’s dead body in his arms or his sister’s or Suki’s and Zuko had a not so small part in making that happen, Sokka would likely have had a harder time trusting him or wanting anything to do with him. Toph would have blasted him off the temple if anything like that had happened to her personally too
I think cause other than being fire nation and attacking village Sokka isn’t taking it as personal whereas Aang and Katara are based on previous encounters where they interact a lot even on a personal level of vulnerability with Zuko
@@christiantwist3360 they definitely did more than just smooching on that couch prior to the warmeeting. If the show hadn't set this theme in the background (and multiple times with multiple characters, not just on Zuko), I wouldn't have thought of it like this.
