Thanks for uploading this. Looks awesome in HD. I was at this gig aged 17, right at the front on Trey's side of the stage. I remember being totally mesmerised by him and his guitar playing. Absolute mastery. Even got to chat with him at the Way Ahead record store before the show and he was really friendly and down to earth. I'm 51 now and still a big Morbid Angel fan🤘
I got to meet Trey after the 20th Anniversary Covenant tour in Houston he's still a great dude. Took time to have an actual conversation with everyone out there.
How awesome to see this again indeed. I remember when it got released I was 11 and scared shitless haha. 5 years later I was still listening and was totally hooked. Now, I see the musical genius that was thrown upon our young minds back then. Still can't supress an evil feeling grin now and then while listening and watching haha 😃
Tanks so much!! For me this is a Masterpiece, because Morbid Angel´s Altars Of Madness is one of the greatest Death Metal Records EVER,and here they play it complete!!!
I won tickets to see them back in the day by calling in to a college station during their metal show. I was SO EXCITED…then I held so I could give my information and was immediately crushed when I was denied the tickets…It was an 18 and up show. I was probably 13😂….I’ll forever feel like I got screwed.
Morbid Angel in their prime. Saw them at The Trocadero in Philly during the “Altars of Madness” tour in ‘90. I was a sophomore in high school, and a bunch of my friends went and saw them. It was in May and was a truly amazing show. Ripping Corpse, Gothic Slam, and a local and favorite death metal band called Faith Or Fear.
I have the live Morbid Angel, Napalm Death, and Carcass on CD's from this show plus the DVD version of this complete show as well. Earache records did an excellent job releasing those CD/DVD slip case classics.
I was fortunate to have caught this tour (same year) at Storyville Jazz Hall (New Orleans). I had just left work and saw a kid passing out flyers, yup, it was for this show. I stopped for a quick bite and turned back downtown. Tickets were dirt cheap at the door back then too. I recall their sound guy asking me "what's wrong with your city, man?" I told him it wasn't a big (Death) Metal scene there, plus the show wasn't very well advertised -- I did however hear of it through The Metal Show on WTUL (Tulane radio), but not too many ppl stay up late to hear it I guess. Anyway, I sure as hell had a blast and they certainly blew the rooftop off the place (which back then had beaucoup great shows, including the likes of Death, Kreator, Testament, and much more...). Ofc t-shirt and cassette was bought there... Well, thanks for the share and cool flashback! 🤘
When the sickness is this tight live, it deserves to be remastered! Many thanks to Chilling for your splendid work. Pete Sandoval, in his prime, was light years ahead of his drumming peers. Edit : Did that dude jump on stage and wipe the pit sweat from Richard, then smear it on his jacket?
Yes - I'm so glad that I was young and stupid before everyone had a HD camera in their pocket - lived in the moment, the only lens that mattered were our eyes. More glorious uploads in coming weeks and months, I've been setting up a new PC, got a couple on the list including some 80s Thrash and classic Black Metal.
I read an interview with Trey years ago where he went into his attitude toward music, and his...philosophy, I guess you'd call it, toward life and finding success. Dude is deep; been a Morbid Angel fan ever since. Thanks for the upload!
richard was better than any second guitar player the band had.it's insane how in 1989 these were playing that intense. i think people were still used to thrash being the most crazy music.
Thanks for watching and your comment. I got this from the DVD and did various things to improve the audio and video, I put more info in the description. It is recorded with direct out sound which meant for example the guitar was too quiet, so I brought the guitar volume up in this version.
Imagine what happened with this band. One was a junkie and died, one today goes on stage wearing a funny hat, one is on booze and drugs and one is a born-again Christian...
@@raysissum oh I don't hear tape hiss per se, just the tape-whine from it being slightly warped from age and making the songs play slightly slower and warp-y

Sounds better than the album! Kick drum bass sound and guitar clarity are great
Rest in Power, Richard Brunelle! #richardbrunelle
This band is a legend. Pure and original death metal music.
Same old..same old.
16:10 Pete: WTF!? 😂
There’s another live video where they just stop midway through a song, and end up going off stage for a bit. I think it’s the New York video.
More like 3:22 Wtf
PRE SOLO...SOLO VACIO.....
RIP Richard Brunelle

woah, imagine hearing this in 1989 for the very first time :O
Yes, a level up from what people were used to. A real iconic venue too!
@@ChillingAccount unbelievable isn't it?? at that time I was still into Scorpions and Iron Maiden haha
God of Death Metal!!!
At that time, Morbid Angel was untouchable.
As well as Possessed and Deicide
Good Quality I Absolutely Love Morbid Angel

Thy kingdom come the best demo of all time!
It’s good to see what death metal used to be R.I.P too a scene what was AVE!!!!
Dude walks up to Richard and wipes his armpit sweat on himself.😂🤘
Sweet!
I had the opportunity to see them here in Mexico in 1994 I was 16 years old at the time
Wow that must have been crazy, I know crowds in South America go nuts so I'm guessing it's the same in Central America.
This is a good job... great.
One of my favourite Metal live recordings of all time, glad you enjoy it too, cheers!
Brutaaaaaaal!!! Muchas gracias! Los Dioses del death metal!
Excellent, love this, thank you!

Times where teenagers are enjoying the show, unlike todays all cellphones show😂

Rutan. Dudes a monster
No no no, this dude Richard had the lightning, Rutan is just a good guitarist

such a rad upload. i am guessing you had a direct sound out of the board there is no way a 1989 VHS cam would have this good of audio quality
