Hey Phil, I'd love to see a morning deep dive on backdoor/legacy admission. The story from yesterday sparked my curiosity about what really happens behind the scenes in college entry. Thanks for all you do!
The first story broke my heart...imagine being one of the girls effected, and hearing your abuser is only going to face 90 days..some of which he has already served.
However, there is no other way. As a person that has legal proceeding experience, I guarantee that if they had insufficient evidence or shaky grounds, or even unlawfully obtained evidence, he would walk skot free even if guilty on top of having a good pension guaranteed by the state for his troubles.
It's better he serves a ninety-day sentence and has all sorts of rules and stipulations imposed on him, as opposed to walking free. You have to pick and choose your battles.
I was so upset about his lack of jail time.. It's been tough for all of us. Happy that the channels are taken down now though, I just wish I could get my videos back.
Over time, (alot of time, unfortunately) you will overcome this. Triggers may still remain, but do your best to talk to someone always and stay strong girl. 🥰🖤
Please please please shed some light on the channel “special books by special kids. It’s a wholesome channel that gives a voice to the special needed! TH-cam disabled the comments for their channel since it’s a risk of getting “predatory comments”
Why would anyone take offence to being called beautiful? I don't see anyone being offended, except if he's actually a bastard and that's a sore spot for him.
@Satisfactory Bagelfreund Atrocities are a symptom (IMHO) of pervasive narcissism. These people are the extreme height of sick, self centered monsters. The more narcissism becomes the norm, the more this kind of thing will become the norm. They took these people out then killed themselves so that their deaths would be front page news... So unbelievably selfish! The worst part is, the news is only too happy to oblige. :(
Only if you believe so, bad things happen everyday and people’s lives are always lost over stupid ideals or hatred. We shouldn’t fall down for these loses but rather try to advocate an improvement to security. Problem is how do you secure everyone?
Not unlike a basketball player getting paid million(s) to just wear a damn shoe (while playing a GAME), it is advertising money well spent, this isnt a new concept.
here's the thing if your game sucks: it doesn't matter how much you pay the streamers because the watchers will see the game sucks. It's a solid strategy if you know your game's a winner
It doesn't matter how hard you work what matters is what your work was able to achieve.and that's the reason this marketing strategy works and that's a good thing
Ryan Walk it’s the childish fortnite community, a bunch of easily influenced, jealous 7 year olds. Last year after ninja’s great success, everyone dragged him for raging in a game and reporting some guy because he thought he was stream sniping, the whole community turned on him and his reputation got fucked, I quit the game because of the ridiculous community, sad to see.
Its a gap of perception that really makes it become a story. People still look down on gaming as a whole even now that the industry is HUGE, therefore someone getting money to advertise a game is somehow seen as worse than any other advertising.
Hi Phil, I was wondering if you could cover the issue around SBSK channel and TH-cam disabling their comment section. They are a channel that shares the stories of differently abled people and have a very positive community they have a petition out right now asking for signatures to bring to youtube to allow their comment section to be opened again. I know you're all for the community that youtube comment section usually fosters and that is also what SBSK deserves. Thank you.
Please talk about the channel "Special Books by Special Kids" getting they're comments disabled. Its a channel where they interview people with disabilities and illnesses and show how they are normal like us. The comments are disabled and its super sad too see how now we cant even comment to show our support

For example I wasn't immediately on edge when the alt-right began becoming a thing because the media called anyone on the right who wasn't a mainstream republican alt-right, so I accepted that definition and ignored talk of the alt-right. Now I know (no thanks to the media, but thanks to center left youtube and Ben Shapiro) that the alt-right is when you take the talking points of the far left but swap out minorities for white people (with both hating those outside of their in-group(s), wanting government intervention, and pushing anti-semitic conspiracy theories).

*Everyone please like this so Philip can see it:* One of my favorite channels is suffering due to TH-cam’s algorithm, they’re called “Special Books for Kids,” where a young man interviews people of all ages with a variety of disabilities. I feel protective almost of this channel because of how much watching it has benefited me as a human being. He breaks down barriers and asks the questions we all want to know while remaining incredibly respectful. He posted a video just yesterday about how the channel is being affected. Please bring more light to this issue and maybe shout out his channel ♥️
Laura Martin-Falla The point of the video was about TH-cam’s new policy which automatically disables the comments on videos that feature any minors. Many minors with disabilities are featured on that channel and without warning TH-cam began blocking all of the comment sections in their videos. Discriminatory is defined as making or showing unfair prejudicial distinction between different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex. I assume that the channel is using the word to mean that channels featuring children are being singled out and restricted? It’s a weird terminology but the point remains
Meme God except that still goes by the idea that they are being treated unfairly compared to others, discrimination only exists when you are not being treated equal to everyone else, asking for special treatment because there disabled is wrong
I may not be a fan of Ninja, but I would 100% rather see him sponsoring a video game instead of seeing COD & Destiny advertising with multi-millionaire Athletes & Celebrities.

Gun laws in Brazil. In Brazil, all firearms are required to be registered with the minimum age for gun ownership being 25. It is generally illegal to carry a gun outside a residence, and a special permit granting the right to do so is granted to certain groups, such as law enforcement officers. (just for fun)
They have strict gun laws, however it's almost irrelevant and sorta pointless, as Brazil for some time has had guns illegally flood into it's country. To the point where it's cheaper to buy a gun illegally than it is to buy a video game. Problem is it's extremely cheap to buy guns in America and smuggle those said guns into brazil(because of corruption) and make a premium profit. Unless they can handle that problem gun control will probably be in-effective.

Hi Philip, can you talk about TH-cam disabling comments on random channels under the mask of "protecting children from predators"? "Special Books by Special Kids", a channel that shows people (adults and minors) with disabilities and has them share their story, had their comments disabled. In their video they explain the importance of comments and community (like how some of the people in their channel need that empathy and positivism from the comments, or how families look back at videos featuring their relatives who passed away and find some sort of comfort in the comments knowing that they were understood) It makes me really angry to know TH-cam has taken that away and I think someone needs to put a light on it. Thank you!
It really isnt. It's a gang of incompetent oafs having a screaming competition, because a gang of incompetent oafs voted to leave the EU. It is the least newsworthy thing. It is the same shit literally every fucking day.
Exactly, a lot of this "bullying" these days are actual crimes. Call the cops and hold these lil shits to the standards of the real world. Assault, harrassment, stalking, criminal threats..... call it what it is. If there was accountability for actions like "bullying" with real life consequences there would be a lot less of it.
Phil, please talk about what TH-cam is doing to the SBSK (Special Books for Special Kids) TH-cam channel!!! That channel is doing so much good for people with special needs, please cover it!!!
Phil, could you cover on the situation around SBSK channel? It's the consequence of the child predator story and a rather negative one worth driving public attention to

@@KashNoK SBSK is one of the most positive comment sections on the web. Half of their featured guests aren't even children, and when they are SBSK heavily polices the comments to make sure there isn't any harassment. Beyond that the comments are a safe haven for many children and adults with disabilities. The guests will often read through the comments of their video when they are feeling ostracized in their own lives, and those comment sections (which cannot be accessed anymore) have greatly improved their lives and mental states. Some of the videos have featured children who have tragically passed away since, and those comments were very precious to their parents. There are so many people who treasured the comments and they've been ripped away from them. Now when people go to these videos they won't see a positive community offering support, they'll see a disable comment section, they'll assume it was to protect the disabled, that the disabled are fragile and need protecting, further "othering" them. And while all this is going on, TLC's Toddlers and Tiaras still has their comment section enabled. This isn't TH-cam trying to protect their child creators. This is them discriminating against non-corporate channels to try and save face to advertisers.
Seriously, they are making the debate about guns? They used *1* REVOLVER, a crossbow, and bladed weapons. They inflicted that much damage with the very things that politicians in the US are trying to restrict its citizens to. This isn't about guns. Remember, when you can't logically hold *people* accountable for their actions; blame the *object* they used.
Because that's how shit works in the rest of the world. If a tragedy occurs due to an accessible resource the government attempts to prevent another one by tightening restrictions. A non gun related example in the UK manufacturing of gardening supplies containing nitrogen sulphates were stopped after people began making their own fireworks/explosives which were dangerous so it stopped. It's still possible but considerably more difficult. The point is prevention is considerably more effective than treatment. In the Brazil case I would wager a vast majority of the deaths came from the crossbows and firearm than the hatchet and blades. So it will be reasonable and frankly the right thing to restrict underage and illegal firearms trades.
@@DJSanders23 Having fired a crossbow before, I've got no idea why it's not considered the same as a firearm. It certainly can kill and it's almost as easy to wield as a gun.
Rowan well... You know it isn't legal and as such not many under 18s die from heroin overdoses... Mostly because parents don't tend to pick up some heroin from the local store and leave them in their home for anti intruder use etc... Side note that'd be one hell of a court case if your home defense method was to dope up intruders until their comatose but that's by the by... I don't really see your point about drugs truthfully because self harm is a very different case to harming others. Suicide - that's a shame, murder - that's a crime. Possession - bad, with intent to sell - shit load worse.
DJSanders23 my point is he said don't ban guns because that's blaming the object not the person. We ban drugs because we blame the drugs. He had a shit reasoning because it's hypocritical
In Scotland all handguns, semi-automatic and pump-action non-rim-fire rifles are prohibited. This was in response to The Dunblane school massacre which took place on 13 March 1996, where 16 children and one teacher were shot dead before the gunman killed himself. It remains the deadliest mass shooting in British history. Public debate about the killings centred on gun control laws, including public petitions calling for a ban on private ownership of handguns and an official inquiry. In response to this debate, two Firearms Acts were passed, which outlawed private ownership of most handguns in Great Britain. There are only 566 licensed handgun owners in Scotland.
Hi! Brazilian here. While USA have 50% more population than Brazil and 1000% more guns per 100 person, they have half of our firearm homicides. Just to put things in perspective, basically only thugs and policeman have guns. Law abbiding citizen doesn't have
@@killertruth186 that sentence makes no sense. I can only reply based on what it seems to say: there are multiple issues with current control laws; the biggest is that there are too many loop holes. Another problem is that the causes of run of the mill gun violence are different than the causes of gun violence in regard to mass shootings. Many of the laws that are targeted towards generic gun violence wouldn't have any effect on mass shootings, but to say that that means we shouldnt make any laws that specifically target mass shootings is terribly short sighted. We have a problem in the United States. Like, can we at least all start there? That what's happening shouldn't be considered normal or as something that shouldnt be addressed? Because I feel like that's the biggest problem. Progressives are coming in gunning (pun) for gun rights, but the right is responding by basically saying children dying is the cost of liberty and that this is just a reality that we should learn to stomach. They dont even try to address ANYTHING regarding the problem. Can't we at least agree that this shouldn't be normal?
The brazillian mass shooting was praised on a chan called Dogolachan. It is popular for posting racist and misogynist content. The same forum was brought down by the police some time ago and a man was arrested, then they moved it to the deep web. It seems the shooters were users and sympathisers of the incel movement. TH-cam is discriminating against their channel, tuning off comments on all of their videos because they are "high risk for predatory comments" with no other explanation. I have never seen a single negative comment on their videos and the people in the videos love reading the comments and feeling the love from the community. HEY PHILIP! Could you discuss the shootings that happened in Christchurch New Zealand today? There is a lot of information confirmed on the internet and by the time it comes to film there should be a lot more. This is the first major shooting in New Zealand in a very long time. Please talk about SBSK! It’s crazy that sevenawesomekids was just demonetized until there was a verdict but SBSK had all of their comments disabled without explanation other than them being “high risk” when half of their videos are solely interviewing adults with disabilities. I think it’s important to highlight their community
Phil you NEED to call out TH-cam/cover what is happening with the Special Books By Special Kids channel (SBSK). They are a channel that has helped to be a platform for those with disabilities. Though most of who they interview are ADULTS, TH-cam has deemed them one of the channels that 'predators' target and have shut off their comment section... on ALL videos. The owner (Chris) has been desperately reaching out to TH-cam but they keep telling him no. Their comment section was one of the most wholesome places I had seen on the internet. As Chris said, this is discriminatory. While videos, such as Toddlers and Tiaras, continue to have comments, this FULLY EDUCATIONAL channel has been hit. To me this channel means a lot because it helped me know how to work with a disable girl who is nonverbal. She is near and dear to me, and I am so grateful that Chris has helped to get their voices out. But now their voices and others are silenced. Please reach out to them if you can
How come it seems like the more school shootings that happen, we talk less about teaching our students and children about tolerance/ anti- bullying and more about gun/ law reform? We have to still remember that children need to learn to respect one another so schools don't become a breeding ground for depression and bullying; especially when the shooters straight up say they did it as a result from being bullied in school. We have to remember to keep multiple conversations going about solutions and base them on what demographic we are teaching to. When these shootings started, when I was in school (columbine era), we were shown countless PSA's about bullying and loving one another and students today are seeing less and less of this as we become more jaded and desensitized, and are being bogged down with political debates. Please remember to always spread love through these hard times and treat everyone as you would yourself.
Companys paying people like ninja is litterally the best thing to happen to the gaming industry. It validates the industry , it takes what was once a niche thing into the mainstream and validates it. If EA is willing to pay ninja a million now , just imagine what the industry could look like in 20 years.with streamers / youtubers on par with movie stars , musicians and athletes.
@Purple Angry Zmurf But it's not for no reason,Ninja and Shroud are popular because they are good what they do which is playing competitive video games, gaming as industry has already surpassed the film and music industry in yearly revenue, so it is obviously a very popular form of entertainment and just like how Shaq is rich and famous for being good at basketball only because people wanted to watch basketball at a professional level just like e-sports, there's no difference.
Are you going to elaborate on the "that is the world we live in now..." part, or what? Yes that is the world we live in, one where there's more forms of entertainment and art than just movies and music. You enjoy movies for the story and possibly the music, visuals, landscape, acting etc. and that's completely fine. But god forbid somebody enjoys a videogame for those same exact reasons. Get off your high horse.
Hey Phil, I really respect what you do and there is a situation on TH-cam that I think you could shed a light on. A channel called SBSK has had all their comments removed, and it’s a critical component to the community. There is no reason TH-cam should have done this, and it is unfair. They even met with representatives from TH-cam, but they were unqualified to answer almost all of their questions and left SBSK with no answers with the excuse that only “higher ups” in the company could answer their questions. It’s a travesty, especially for such a wholesome community committed to spreading awareness and the message that all people deserve love regardless of any disability. If you could even just watch their most recent video and tweet out their petition I think that would really help them get the answers from TH-cam and get their comment section back up. Love ya Phil! Keep on making the world a better place (: #unsilencesbsk
Serious question: what's the big draw of Ninja? Let's Plays aren't really my thing (with Game Grumps being the exception!), but from the few Ninja videos I've seen.... I'm underwhelmed. What am I missing??
Nothing. His appeal is for 9 year olds with mommy's credit card, and for some reason he is hailed as one of the best, even though his personality is garbage.
Erin K lets plays aren’t really a thing anymore. Ninja and all the other gamers are live streamers and the appeal is that they’re really good at the games they play. So those who don’t play those games themselves won’t be able to tell that they’re really good. It’s similar to why people watch sports.
You should talk about Special Books for Special Kids and their disabled comments. It’s a crazy situation where TH-cam is refusing to change a new and untested policy that is affecting the wrong people.
世界最強 Just because it is common or unsurprising does not mean it is ‘right’ or not important to talk about. It is clearly an issue. I know that you are not necessarily saying you condone the actions of these parents, but I think that saying “it’s common” or “it’s none of my business” is very harmful. Just because it’s common doesn’t mean it’s right. If just one person had stepped in for that girl she could be alive, but no one did.
世界最強 I think that there are people that do care and that if people in other countries show that they care as well it gives those people the courage they need to step up and do things. I feel as though the reason things are not being done now is because many people do not feel as though they can do something because the vast majority in Asian countries do not care, as you said, which makes them feel as though their efforts are useless. But when enough outrage is sparked, as in the K-pop entertainment industry, despite many people knowing what is going on, and when people begin to have discussions about these kinds of things, change begins to happen. I would love to keep talking about this with you, it is very interesting to get another person’s viewpoint on this!
世界最強 Thank you for sharing that with me. I think I understand now. Actually, I am an Asian-American citizen adopted from China so I understand about the adoption/orphanage issues and the confliction about not wanting to send parents to jail because they are the only source of support. I have seen firsthand how horrible orphanages/the adoption situation is in East Asian countries and it is truly awful. However, I still think that it is important to talk about. My mindset won’t change about that. Although a first step could be a reform to the adoption/orphanage system, which would be very difficult, time consuming, and monetarily consuming, I think it would be a step in the right direction. I have always felt that the adoption situation needs to improve, unfortunately I do not know of ways to improve it. Honestly there are so many factors that go into this that need to be considered that I hadn’t thought of before. It really is awful. And it’s also hard to just be sitting here asking everyone to “make change” and not being able to do anything myself (which I understand probably comes off as incredibly rude). Again, thank you for sharing your opinions with me.

He left a manifesto that explains in detail why he did it. But the quick summary of it is that he views anyone that isn't white in majority white countries to be "invaders" and this act of terrorism was his way of showing that as long as "the white man still lives, they will never conquer our lands". Just as people are right to question what is radicalizing Muslim's, it's way past time that we start talking about what's radicalizing white right-wing extremists.

I'm a digital marketer and creative in Korea, where the gaming industry is thriving. I know that hard work, stress, and long work hours is the norm behind the scenes making the same games that gamers are earning so much money for playing. So for me, until those designers, programmers, publishers, and creatives start getting compensated with even a fraction of the kind of money that goes into competitions, I'll continue to feel uncomfortable about extravagant payouts to gamers.
I think the Twitch launch of Apex was super important for the games success. It absolutely dominated the site, was #1 for a few days, meaning that it was exposed to everyone on the site. I'm sure it really helped people pick it up. I guess that's what happens when you can pay off so many creators at once.

@@thatrat8628 it was a news story a while back. Special books by special kids is a TH-cam page that teaches people about people with disabilities. TH-cam made it so people couldn't comment on their videos, claiming that children could be sexualized by the comments and that they were protecting from pedophiles. But many of the videos had adults in them and no children, but youtube banned comments on ALL of their videos. This was an issue because the page used commenting to answer questions and educate, and also the people featured got huge boosts in their self esteem by the kind comments left by their subscribers. The page claimed discrimination, as youtube was treating disabled adults as if they were children. At least that's how I remember it, ill link to an article
Sexual assault of anyone, including children, is treated like, "meh, they'll get over it. They're not dead are they?" This is ignorant, and so dismissive. Harsher penalties need to be implemented. The child serves a life sentence. They are never the same. The person they were going to be is gone, and now they have to try to learn to be this new, scared, "used", "dirty" person, while pretending they're fine as quickly as possible because it makes everyone else uncomfortable. 90 days is an apathetic slap in the face to all of us who are survivors or childhood sexual assault.
Apex Legend didn't make traditional advertisement, they used the normal advertising budget to pay streams to promote the game to much success. Excellent business tactic, glad to see a move from traditional "LOOK AT OUR GAME" ads to sponsorship of content creators to showcase the gameplay.

However, there is no other way. Imagine that your abuser is gonna be in a government position, yeah ,welcome to America
This situation unfortunately reinforces the reasons why victims live in silence.
Girl or boy, doesn't matter to me.
It's better he serves a ninety-day sentence and has all sorts of rules and stipulations imposed on him, as opposed to walking free. You have to pick and choose your battles.

Gun laws in Brazil. In Brazil, all firearms are required to be registered with the minimum age for gun ownership being 25. It is generally illegal to carry a gun outside a residence, and a special permit granting the right to do so is granted to certain groups, such as law enforcement officers. (just for fun)

@@nixonesport1998 Or the crossbows they happened to be carrying
They have strict gun laws, however it's almost irrelevant and sorta pointless, as Brazil for some time has had guns illegally flood into it's country. To the point where it's cheaper to buy a gun illegally than it is to buy a video game. Problem is it's extremely cheap to buy guns in America and smuggle those said guns into brazil(because of corruption) and make a premium profit. Unless they can handle that problem gun control will probably be in-effective.
Also "military calibers" such as 9mm, .45 or 5,56 are banned for civilians.

It's something TH-cam is doing to stop child predators.
@Qloud YT they know this but the situation is more complicated than just that.

Having fired a crossbow before, I've got no idea why it's not considered the same as a firearm. It certainly can kill and it's almost as easy to wield as a gun.

@@heathermarie5139 Yeah, even with the failing gun control laws has been proven time and time again.
@@killertruth186 I think that's very black and white opinion on a grey issue
If someone on your staff can translate Portuguese there is a good article about it on vice news Brazil.

PHIL, please take a look at what TH-cam is doing to the channel SBSK (special books for special kids) that showcases all sorts of disabilities to help reduce the stigma against them. TH-cam is discriminating against their channel, tuning off comments on all of their videos because they are "high risk for predatory comments" with no other explanation. I have never seen a single negative comment on their videos and the people in the videos love reading the comments and feeling the love from the community. Please, please check out their latest video explaining the situation. They even set up a petition to get comments enabled again and last I checked that had about 300,000 signatures.

HEY PHILIP! Could you discuss the shootings that happened in Christchurch New Zealand today? There is a lot of information confirmed on the internet and by the time it comes to film there should be a lot more. This is the first major shooting in New Zealand in a very long time.
Please and Thank you!
Please talk about SBSK! It’s crazy that sevenawesomekids was just demonetized until there was a verdict but SBSK had all of their comments disabled without explanation other than them being “high risk” when half of their videos are solely interviewing adults with disabilities. I think it’s important to highlight their community
Please help us!!!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Phil you NEED to call out TH-cam/cover what is happening with the Special Books By Special Kids channel (SBSK).
Please reach out to them if you can
Your concealer is much better today!
You're not wrong look at the e-sports scene in South Korea they basically are celebrities and sellout stadiums for events.
I have no doubt it’ll be just as unbearable as celebrity news.
People don't realize that Video Games generate MORE revenue than Movies and Music combined. That is the world we live in now......
Such a tragedy that this is people's preferred form of entertainment :)
2AverageGuysGaming r/boomer
1 , Thank you sir
Are you going to elaborate on the "that is the world we live in now..." part, or what?
Yes that is the world we live in, one where there's more forms of entertainment and art than just movies and music. You enjoy movies for the story and possibly the music, visuals, landscape, acting etc. and that's completely fine. But god forbid somebody enjoys a videogame for those same exact reasons.
Get off your high horse.
Yeah, it's fucking amazing. Videogames are great.
Keep on making the world a better place (:

Serious question: what's the big draw of Ninja?
Let's Plays aren't really my thing (with Game Grumps being the exception!), but from the few Ninja videos I've seen.... I'm underwhelmed. What am I missing??
Nothing. His appeal is for 9 year olds with mommy's credit card, and for some reason he is hailed as one of the best, even though his personality is garbage.
@KonaGaming Can't talk to people without calling them names, a sign of lessened intelligence.
Erin K it just doesn’t interest you. He doesn’t draw me either but it’s fine that others like watching him.
I don't have an issue with him being popular. Just a curiosity itch I had to scratch!
Phil, could you please cover Japan’s child abuse issue? It is so heartbreaking. Thank you.
Haahahahaahhahahahahaahahhahaahaha

Hi Phil. I live in New Zealand. We've just had the worst mass shooting in our history - 40 confirmed dead as a result of hate crime mass shootings at Mosques in Christchurch. I knew there was an element of this kind of poison in my country, but never thought this would happen. Any chance you can cover this please? Our firearm laws were tightened after the Aramoana mass shooting in the early 90s, but... that was nothing compared to this. What the hell happened to get someone to the point where they just had to go and shoot up a Mosque?
He left a manifesto that explains in detail why he did it. But the quick summary of it is that he views anyone that isn't white in majority white countries to be "invaders" and this act of terrorism was his way of showing that as long as "the white man still lives, they will never conquer our lands". Just as people are right to question what is radicalizing Muslim's, it's way past time that we start talking about what's radicalizing white right-wing extremists.
I really hope he covers it. I would love to have a conscience summary trying to keep up with news on our own is hard!!!

But many of the videos had adults in them and no children, but youtube banned comments on ALL of their videos. This was an issue because the page used commenting to answer questions and educate, and also the people featured got huge boosts in their self esteem by the kind comments left by their subscribers. Sexual assault of anyone, including children, is treated like, "meh, they'll get over it. They're not dead are they?"
This is ignorant, and so dismissive. Harsher penalties need to be implemented. The child serves a life sentence. They are never the same. The person they were going to be is gone, and now they have to try to learn to be this new, scared, "used", "dirty" person, while pretending they're fine as quickly as possible because it makes everyone else uncomfortable.
