I like the fact Cigarette is sticking with a more traditional look to their hulls. To most I'm sure it's boring to still look like they did in the Scarface days but no need to change things that work. Materials and motors have made big leaps recently but old school is fine with me.

Cigarette will always be the best quality go fast V bottom in my opinion. cats will always have the better top end speed but I love V bottoms the best. They will out perform cats in 10ft seas. Thats why the apache v bottom has the world record for going to cuba and back in 90 min.

I thought I read that they are limited to about 25 and at most 50 knots in the normal 3--5 foot chop of the Caribbean. Not so fast under those conditions, eh?

I am reminded many years ago when I was in my uncles Seabee airplane going out of Renton airport to take off from Lake Washington during the warmup to the Gold Cup hydroplane races and we were going full throttle ready to take off from the water when a hydroplane pulled along side of us and the driver waved leaving us looking at his rooster tale. Looks like fun till you see them flip!!

I just bought 2. 1 for my brother and 1 for me. We scrapped over who got the yellow one. Tgey fave me a deal, 4 mil for both, and threw in full tanks on both,(600 gallons)
What are the engine rebuild periods?
Couple hundred hours on the 1350, I would imagine the 1550 would be less.

Good evening Gentlemen, and I'm thinking of possibly getting the 515 with a Canopy and let's increase the power from 1550 to let's say 1950 with M 8 drives,and with all that power maybe we break the 200 mph for a Pleasure boat??????????????.

True that the engines need a complete rebuild after 60hrs?
I don’t think so but have never heard what that is for pure 1550 mode. 1350 rebuild is 200-300 hours, 1100 is 400-500. My guess is 1550 would be 100-200 but pretty much nobody runs 1550 mode because it requires 110 octane or if they do it’s only for a short period of time.

@@rightsideupvt the 565 should have top end done at 500 and complete rebuild at 1,000. Of course, the harder you run it, the faster you'll need to tear into it.
How many gallons per mile? That's a crazy boat!!
It's got two 1550/1350 Mercury Racing engines in it. I'd say 0.2 mile to the gallon, maybe 0.5.

Depends on speed. Theres a graph they made for those engines. It gets better gas mileage the faster you run. Just under a mile per gallon at best lol

Shit, these probably take racing fuel rather than gasoline, I dont imagine they spent the money to engineer a diesel version of the motor
@@chrism4008 I think it depends what mode you have the setting to. if you're in race mode yes if you have it in Cruise mode probably regular super unleaded will be fine. Just an educated guess, but as a Motorsports participant and fan I know engines are similar on their operation throughout all Motorsports
