That last JUMP had my heart racing!! I can 0nly dream of getting that much air in a boat.
Now on a motorcycle, shit, these guys have nothing on me! However we are watching boats, not bikes! Love to get high on everything with a motor, other times, I like to get as high as those boats were, and that's pretty dam high, in my recliner.
I’ve spent my entire life on the water. Been in many many different boats from 16 foot runabouts to some big center consoles to 70 foot motor yachts. In all my time on the water I was most impressed with a 47 Apache followed by cigarettes. They just ride great in rough water and you don’t get beat to shit. I’m sure you can in the wrong hands but these guys knew what they were doing. Those questioning how I’ve been in so many different boats I worked at a marina all through high school and college and when you go the extra mile for people they reward you and often this was getting to go out with them
The Apache's secret sauce is weight, they were built like absolute tanks. Not the fastest boats on calm water and consumed a lot of gas, but top of the class in rough water.

Cigarettes catch air okay, better than most everything out there behind one other make. NOTHING flies like Apache 41s and 47s. Since the early 1980s through today those non-stepped Apache hulls dominate the rough seas and when they fly, they truly FLY ! Search TH-cam, you'll see.

I just got home july 26 after have my 10th back surgery and like someone else said i cringed when i saw that i do know the pain first hand the operator should know better ya it was kinda coil but he didnt real worry about his passengers

Been out in a 47 Apache and a few different cigarettes. The Apache wins hands down but the cigarettes are pretty damn good

The most any boat gets in this entire comp is 3' of air AT BEST. A leaning bow isn't 'getting air'. Props are mostly 0.5-1' out of the surface.
I do get it. Speed, weight, resistance, mother nature vs machine. They're powerful beasts, but this is like judging an F1 car on how good it is at bouldering.

Not knowing a whole lot about Cigarettes or Scarabs. I am not sure if that was totally freaking awesome or total freaking stupidity ? 🤔
A mix of both. Cigs especially the older ones were built very strong and heavy for offshore racing. The hauls are designed to be able to take that type of punishment. The outdrives. Are where you may have issues. From the shock load of The prop being out of the water with no resistance to being in the water with all the resistance. If the captain or throttle man. Doesn’t pull back before splashing

Why is it called cigarette? That’s like calling a car “glass of whiskey”
Cigarette is actually a brand-name/manufacturer of this type of boat. But these boats began to be called “cigarette” boats, I believe in the 1970s when they started to become more prominent and were so-called because of their long skinny shape. Very different from most other boats of the time.
It's from the original rum runners who brought product from offshore ships in the 20's. Their skinny boats were nick named Cigarettes, and then in the 1970's a boat manufacturer was named after that. Don Arronow started Cigarette marine on NE 188st in North Miami.

It was obvious the larger boat was enjoying it and quite possibly friends and we’re providing wake on purpose. Plus way harder to not see a 38 foot boat than a 6 foot jet ski that can’t be seen as easily
