I share several tips and techniques in this video to help you make perfect biscuits. However, the best advice I can give you is to make biscuits. The more you make them the better you will get at it.
Remember to put God first! :)

Can do will do and just did. Most of my friends here in the states are Irish. I've been to cork county and it was great. I told the taxi driver I wanted to fish the lock and he said you can't fish the lock. I said why all I want to do is catch one take it's picture and throw it back. And he said well if you do that's what they will do to you thell catch you take your picture and throw you in the back. Every body in Ireland seems to be a comedian. I'm guessing it's the good whiskey. God bless.

My grandma taught me how to make homemade biscuits when I was very young, around 8 years old. She always cut the Crisco in the flour until the Crisco had very small pieces of it. Then we would use buttermilk for the liquid. I think I will try your 2 ingredient recipe tomorrow morning. Grandma always made her biscuits and she served them with chipped beef milk gravy, cantaloupe if in season, Home grown tomatoes, and scrambled eggs. Talk about GOOD!! I sure do miss that woman!

Great recipe. A few things I've learned over the years:
If I use self-rising flour, I use all-purpose floor to roll them out on and dust them. Loose self-rising flour dusting the surfaces will give the biscuit a bitter taste after baking.
After cutting and placing your biscuits, let them sit for five minutes or so before baking. This will make them less tough.
I didn't see you do it, but I want to warn other people. Don't twist your cutter while cutting. This seals the edge and keeps the biscuit from rising.
After cutting the biscuit, place it in the pan (or on the sheet) upside-down from the way they were cut. Turn them over. This helps them rise higher.

Thanks for the additional tips! Biscuits, bread, pasta, pie crust, etc ate my FAVORITE foods- and also the ones I have the most trouble with. My great grandpa was a professional baker- my grandma says I definitely didn’t get those genes 😂

Every good biscuit has a few individual perks. I agree about not twisting while cutting. I've picked up a few things that helped me this year. I fold my dough in the same bowl. I just flour my hands and sprinkle a little on the dough while folding. Usually about 8 times or till it feels right. I used heavy cream once, but the biscuits just weren't any good. This is what I do. I sift 2 cups, White Lily self-rising flour. Add 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon brown sugar, 3/4 stick of lightly salted grated butter, 1/2 cup whole buttermilk (NOT LOWFAT), 1/2 cup Vitamin D milk. (the mixture of milk makes the biscuit a bit more fluffy and less dense). I mix it all with a fork. Once the dough is ready, I remove from the bowl and roll it out to about 3/4" high, then cut them using a metal biscuit cutter. I put them in an Iron skillet that's very lightly greased with the edges touching. Then coat the tops with buttermilk. I just dip my finger in the cup and put a bit on the biscuits. In the oven for 15-20 min at 475. This is the absolute best recipe I've found so far. Everyone in my family loves these. Even the 3-year-old granddaughter prefers these over a cookie. I must be doing something right. Oh. I always fry extra sausage patties we can have sausage biscuits the next day. I always make sausage gravy to go with the biscuits too. Biscuits and gravy coming this morning. Can't wait...

I don’t comment on many TH-cam presentations but I want to thank you for the way you demonstrated the different ways to make biscuits and end effect it has on the biscuit. I already had heavy cream so I bought White Lily sad made drop biscuits tonight. They were so light. I made sort of a shortcake dessert with them as I’d already eaten. As a single, now I can easily whip up bread for myself without making a mess. Oh and not to forget I will be sifting my flour from here on out. Next I’ll add some shredded cheddar like Red Lobster does.

Just wanted to share what my wife does when she needs heavy cream in a recipe and doesn't want to buy a carton from the store.
Combine 1/4 cup (57 grams) of melted butter with 3/4 cup (178 ml) of milk and mix thoroughly to make 1 cup (237 ml) of heavy cream. You can also add a tablespoon (8 grams) of flour to thicken the liquid, especially if you’re using low fat milk.

This was the best instructional video I've seen on biscuits! :) Since cooking is really science in chemistry (I was raised to think it was an art), I learned why some biscuits get too hard & that's helpful - Thank you. I love how you let your Christian & patriotic faith shine and if the rest of our nation did that I would have no doubts we could return to a position of goodness and strength; ...however it is no longer a Christian nation & even the word God is politically a bad word. We Jesus followers are a minority now...but thank you for reminding me to not give up and to continue plead for God to not give up on America as well.

But be heartened, Oneda! Look at all the comments on this one video-there are more than I thought too. We need to stand up and FIGHT for God. We are the ones who stood and watched while all the bad things went down. God says we are His soldiers. I never thought about defending our faith till lately. We have what it takes through the Holy Spirit!

I always spoon the flour into the measure cup. That is the way I was taught. Then I sift and measure again. Then I sift together the dry ingredients. I'm a very slow cook. But nobody leaves until they eat their fill. Praise God for the gift of cooking.

This recipe brought up such sweet memories of my grandmother who made at least one batch of biscuits a day for most of her life. She taught me and I pulled out her yellowed weathered biscuit recipe (very similar to yours) and made her biscuits after watching your video. We left the scrap dough as scrap and just cooked them in a small heap - my sister and I called them doodles. Such sweet memories. Many blessings!
