Indeed! The music should always come first, like you say. What I meant to say was that I think Jacob could have a very positive influence on the current industry with his awesome grooves and delicious harmonies. Something other artists could learn from, and implement in their own work. =)

He's going to be one of those artists who isn't that well-known among music listeners, but is a huge influence on his and coming generations of performing/creating musicians. I mean, take one look at his fan base already - Jamie Cullum, Herbie Hancock and Quincy Jones!

3:05 is one of my favorite musical moments ever. Listen to the Hi-Hat!!! I always crack up every time he goes from the quintuplet all the way down to 1 note per beat. Even more interestingly, the subtle shifting gives the illusion of the next subdivision before you get there. Perfectly imperfect. Like a controlled demolition. You're hilarious Jacob.

An original song, filmed in one take and... WHAT??? Filmed in ONE TAKE??? HOW??? Everything of this song fits, that's somehow no surprise, because it's Jacob, but mannnnnn, even the video is strikingly crazily crazy! how can literally every aspect of this song be so much more better than anything I've heard? I'm in awe!

At the risk of offending Jacob fans. One admires Jacob, but Prince MOVES you. Don't get blinded by all the composition chops, idea after idea after idea. It's cool and all, but when Jacob writes something like "The beautiful ones" I'll be blown away...it's so emotional, it speaks to the heart. Jacob should go into the world and LIVE, get dirty and then write tunes. He's so gifted, now he needs something to say more than this stunt-composer stuff.

Amen Jay. Let's let Jacob have a long and wonderful career moving people with his music. Please do not DISRESPECT the memory of 1 of the greatest musicians to ever live-Prince. That dude was combining styles before others thought it was cool. He was COMPLETELY self taught. Jacob is outstanding but do not dis Prince or his wonderful legacy.
