I just wish indians realised how much practical sedans are than those pseudo SUVs meandering on our indian roads. Not everyone has to do 50kms of offroading to reach their destination. Sedans are the true cars leading every aspect be it performance, comfort or space.
Guys, just think like this: A Sedan is more comfortable, has a better ride quality, has better handling, has lesser body roll, has more boot space and is also cheaper than an SUV. SUVs, on the other hand, are becoming more and more expensive day by day. For me, an SUV without AWD or 4WD doesn't make sense. I might choose an SUV for better ergonomics (practicality), higher ground clearance, and most importantly, AWD or 4WD capability, which you might not get in a sedan. Sure, I agree, Sedans and SUVs have their own pros and cons. BUT GUYS, PLEASE OPEN YOUR EYES, JUST DON'T SPEND 20 LAKH OR MORE FOR AN SUV, BECAUSE EVERYONE ARE GETTING ONE (I've seen many people buying Creta, Seltos, and Hector like that, including my close friend and are dissatisfied). We have already killed some beautiful sedans in our country (Civic, Corolla, accord, jetta, passat, ETC.) 😣☹😭. Even many are now on the verge of extinction (Camry, Superb, Octavia, City, Amaze, Verna, Ciaz, Elantra, ETC.) Companies are even not thinking of bringing sedans now. SKODA AND VW still have faith on us. Thanks to SKODA and VW for finally bringing sedans (SLAVIA & VIRTUS) in this huge SUV jungle. PLEASE, think once before buying an SUV spending more than 20 lakh. I being Owner of SKODA SLAVIA feel that, its ULTIMATE SEDAN with 179mm Ground Clearance. It's SIMPLY WOW. Blindly go ahead with SLAVIA. U will not regret.
❤Skoda is one of the most lovable European car manufacturing company. The reason why Skoda is in Indian market is because of quality, Safety and performance.
Lovely review . I think with the kind of transformation we are seeing in the roads infrastructure , specially the multiple incoming expressways, it makes more sense to buy a sedan than an SUV, and there is hardly any competitor which is better than Skoda when it comes to ride quality.
In india SUVs are popular because we like that high seating position and that feeling of owning an "SUV". Unfortunately in pursuit of that, we have forgotten the amazing feels of comfort and practicality of a sedan.
Check the Slavia in the showroom and you will start appreciating the Rapid more. Yes, it’s bigger in size compared to the Rapid, but the Rapid is Skoda vs Slavia that’s Skoda compromised (or should I say Vision IN)
Hello, Greetings! I have few questions, if you answer, it's highly thankful. 1. Most people saying like 1.5 4cylinder Engine is good to go for any car even it's Slavia. But 1.0 3cylinder engine is not good and its make many problems in the engine part. Is this statement true ? 2. Skoda have own factory in India. But I heard some parts is coming from German. May I know which part is manufacturing locally and which part is coming from German directly? 3. Honda City 1.5 4 cylinder or Skoda Slavia 1.0 3 cylinder which is right choice ? 4. Is Skoda Slavia India production compromising quality ? 5. If Skoda really good build means why it's not presented to global NCAP or at least Asian NCAP ? 6. 1.0 Top varient is almost 17L. Is really worth to buy ? Thanks in advance
City is too low..just went to Manali in November and it kept thuding again and again..on good roads, City is a gem to drive..most people buy compact SUV's for the ground clearance, whether to wade through monsoon rains or drive to mountains
Great Video. Happy that a few companies are still giving us great sedans while the others only care about SUVs. Really impressed with the car, love almost everything about it. I just wonder why Skoda (VW in general) is making it’s car look back-heavy. We’ve seen this in the Octavia and now the Slavia. Whether this is for rear impact protection or simply to increase its length, I’m surely not used to seeing a Euro Sedan look back-heavy when seen from the side!
with the pricing out , Honda city would be the happiest , every hope of having this car priced right has now gone down the drain, If i were to pick one Honda city would be my pick !
Agreed. 1.0 3 cylinder TSI shouldn't have been priced at ~15 Lakhs. Honda city with its 1.5L 4 cylinder engine and better reliability is the better option for the price in my humble opinion. Slavia is still quite good though imo.
Purchased a venue for almost 11 lakhs , worst choice ever to go for a so called sun compact suv segment , doesn’t have the robustness of a proper suv , not the comfort or space of a sedan and didn’t come for the price of a hatchback.
Priced pretty close or on similar range as the Honda City. Mainly ZX Manual and Style MT with Sunroof are closely priced. People choosing MT between these two will have a tough time deciding, Czech or Japanese?
The car is beautiful no doubt but the 'digital' cluster will be a constant reminder of the cost cutting that the VAG group has to make. I mean look at how much space there actually is in the cluster and how small the display is compared to the available area. I was really happy that the Kushaq didn't get it as the analog dials of Skoda are quite pretty and in my opinion look better than this new low-quality display.
At these prices, a Honda city is much more powerful, refined, comfortable and reliable, not to mention the lower maintainence costs. Whoever decided the pricing must be overconfident.
Feeling proud that city n slavia will bring back the glory of sedans in terms of overall package such as build quality safety practicality reliability peppy petrol engines comfort and best in segment space .
How is the cabin sound levels when driving on highways and expressway at 100 kmph speeds.? Secondly what is the realistic fuel average in city and on highways
I request each and everyone wanting to book this car to PLEASE WAIT FOR THE CITY HYBRID and decide once the prices of that are revealed. It would most likely be slightly more powerful not to mention INCREDIBLY FUEL EFFICIENT.
First of all love the colour red of the new Skoda Slavia ( Skoda India has considerably improved the paint finish)😍, I just hope that they improve the overall fit and finish like in the boot and offer a premium sound system!
High end 1.5 (Style) Variant is around on road price 22 L, Wherein all well done City goes uptil 15 L, which is why this car might not hit roads faster than city.

Rapid is a size small inside and out. But in terms of fit, finish and quality Rapid is far superior to Slavia. Those constant noise of the suspension working that filters inside in Slavia is unacceptable at this range. Even simple things like how the boot lining is so well layered in Rapid and how pathetically done in Slavia is to be noticed, there are these small little but yet some significant things that will make you feel and say, why Skoda, why such cost cutting though you are still charging us the premium.

At certain angle in the video, the bulge in the front and rear wheel arches are awkward. Needs a visit to the showroom to check that. The aggressive front is good. The wider rear end is good for Indian market to carry more luggage or luggage+pet(s) if the boot gets enough ventilation. After many years, Skoda has this segment up for grabs.
Still, the Honda City will sell because it caters to a different side of audience and I feel Honda's interior still looks better and seems to have more soft touch materials. I hope Skoda has atleast retained the driving dynamics for which the VW Grp is known for... Otherwise I don't think there is any use buying the Slavia. City still feels more spacious at a cheaper price. 1.5L TSI is the engine to look for.... excited to drive it :) I'll get the 1.5L NA of the City instead of the 1L Turbocharged engine in the Slavia.... Autocar please bring a comparo soon, would love to see how the high GC translates into ride and handling.
Skoda Slavia 1.0 TSI prices OUT!
1.0 TSI MT Active - Rs 10.69 lakh
1.0 TSI MT Ambition - Rs 12.39 lakh
1.0 TSI AT Ambition - Rs 13.59 lakh
1.0 TSI MT Style (non-sunroof) - Rs 13.59 lakh
1.0 TSI MT Style (sunroof) - Rs 13.99 lakh
1.0 TSI AT Style - Rs 15.39 lakh
(All prices are ex-showroom)
Is there turbo lag in slow speed with 1.0 TSI MT ?
Do they all have sun roof except for the one mentioned non sunroof
Just awesome pricing.
Finally. Honda city cancelled, buying Slavia.
What about the 1.5L

Yes it beats Honda City
Skoda nailed it this time city finally has some competition
City was not even in competition with this cutie
You have balls to buy this...
City sales have dropped drastically for last 10 years already. This will only make things more difficult for Honda india.

Going to book this car within couple of months, was going to book Verna first but this car has my heart now.
Rear seat space is problem in verna

Sedan or SUV which is good to buy?

Where is that location?
Will the 1.5tsi variant be more powerful than the Honda city 2022 ? I’m deciding between the top end Honda city 2022 or the 1.5 slavia

Which Slavia 1 ltr is more engaging to drive, MT or AT?
The ground clearance is commendable!

Go for good sedans like this or city rather than compressed SUVs
Sire, I salute you. Stupid cramped suv are just worst thing since the invention of automobile.
Lets call compressed SUVs just cars shaped like SUVs. Theres no 4WD, space is average, the feel of cars like Seltos is dull.
