You started as a 7th grader at 12, well I'm just starting volleyball now (which is 7th grade, also 12) I'm registering for the school team trials, wish me good luck!
I started volleyball in the seventh grade and you just had to sign up. Fell in love, tried joining a club, didn’t get in and now I’m going to high school. I’ve been bingeing your videos. 😭
i almost feel like i’m cooked as i started playing volleyball when i was 17 nearly 18 and i’m now newly 19, i’ve never been a sports person but decided to pick up a sport when i was really depressed, this sport has helped me so much and i really wish to improve but sometimes i don’t feel like i am improving.
man this is so true. took back volleyball as a senior. and i too feel like i’m falling behind cause i’m playing with ppl that have been in the sport since middle school. but, to be honest, so far there have been ups and downs but i wouldn’t trade the good times i’ve had playing volleyball for anything. it’s an incredible mood booster and it’s helping the mental health! you’re not alone. keep it up champ
I've started this year (8th grade, 14 y.o.), but I've been playing a bit for the last 2 years. I've joined an after-school activity with the coach of my country's best hs team, and I'm am getting better little by little. Hopefully, I'll be able to play as good as you, PME.
Wow your advice is everything that I have been trying to preach to my son who’s 14 that’s beginning his volleyball journey. Thanks so much for this video!
You started in 7th grade! That's crazy how hard you've worked and I can see your accomplishments! I have just become a 7th grader and I have only been playing since 3rd-4th grade. I started younger but I am younger, so you have a lot more experience! I hope you continue to get better! Same goes for myself :)
Great video man, you are doing a wonderful job in this platform, I started playing volleyball 2 months ago and I'am very happy with so much things to learn, hugs from Brazil 🇧🇷 ❤
Could you make a video about volleyball mentality? I'm playing in a team and I notice that my game is deteriorating due to my poor mentality and it's difficult to play better. would be super helpful. thank you for your good videos
even i started at 7th grade but i didnt play right ahead like u did , i first learn the basics like passing form , setting form , hitting form and my vert , i did this for 2 years and the moment i got on the court i did better than half the people in my school
What do you recommend for players with limited access to volleyball? I'm from Texas and we don't have boys volleyball at schools or even club level. Specially in my area there are barely any high schools with volleyball clubs (founded by students).
I’m a grade 11, im very new to volleyball and my friend is trying to teach me how to play libero (it just has been my absolute by far favorite so far) so I’ve been binging because I want to try out next year just to try and do a team sport before high school is done and I kinda loose the opportunity to play on a team. Anyways loving the videos I keep binging them while studying just in the background
Ironically one of my two best skills is probably defence, not in serve receive but during play. Why this is ironic is because Im currently playing as the team's middle but I'm trying to transition into becoming and outside hitter. My other best skill is probably my hitting, though I need to work on different types of hitting this season to become more versatile in a new role as an outside hitter.
I have been wearing a knee brace on my left knee as my left knee has already been dislocated 3 times, the latest it happened was 3 months before and i have been wearing a knee brace and have been playing while wearing it, it scares me to play without the brace, it makes me anxious that the dislocation will happen again, what should i do, should i continue wearing them or not, please tell
bro I have a tournament in 12 hours and the trials 3 days ago were the first time anyone in our class played this. It's under 14 though so we might win, wish me luck!
can you please explain how the professional rotations work? i have a little general idea but i kinda want it broken down and/or an explanation video on how to read like the chart things 😭 idrk what to call them LOL i’m not a new player but not an old one either but i lil to move fast and learn at a fast pace so i wanna know a lil how it works. thxx!
Hi, I’ve been working on my overhand serve for a few months now and I just can’t seem to get it. And for 4 years all my coaches haven’t let me work on my overhand serve because my underhand serve was good and they didn’t want working on my overhand to mess up my underhand. What should I do to improve and help me get my overhand serve??
Hey i have a quick question and it is when did you start playing volleyball. Cause i started playing 1 and a half years ago and im now 17 i see myself growing each week and getting better at volleyball but im not sure if its realistic to expect a career out of volleyball.
I feel this, I’m 15 and have been asking this question myself seeing a lot of professionals start in elementary. I think this just means there is a gap of skill which can only be filled with hours of work. This means your goals shouldn’t exceed your work ethic. If you want a career out of volleyball you’ll make it happen.
hey PME, i go to a school where they don't do boys volleyball, and i'm not old enough to drive yet, so i can't really get into gyms. Do you have any tips for practicing volleyball at home or getting into volleyball?
There is no true “better position” for your height. If you are still growing and young, you could play a hitter. It mostly depends on your team and what you are good at. I would most likely say the best position for being 5’7 is libero though.
Depends on your age and skill range. If you're good at receiving and won't grow much more in the future maybe consider libero. If you're like 12 years old and can already jump high start hitting. There's no perfect position for every height, but there are some tips you can focus on based on your height and age.
I’m 5’7 and I play outside all around on varsity. And it’s been done in college before so I say go for it! Unless defense is your favorite thing, then just be a libero 😊
How high should you be blue to jump to be an outside hitter in middle school? I want to be an outside hitter on my school team this year but don’t know if I’m jumping high enough.
I had tryouts literally three days ago and the results are coming out tomorrow so I'm like really scared but also really excited. Because basically I was yelling so freaking much when people did good that the girl in front of me was like "you are very loud" and I was literally like oops. But we were doing drills and my coach was looking for two setters that were already official setters. I'm not an official setter but I still raised my hand bc I'm like stupid and she picked me for setting but my coach said that my sets were really good after so good sign I think. But my friend is also a setter except she's a setter for a club and she was also picked for to be a setter for the spiking drill and her sets were way better than mine. But yeah mini rant because I'm going to piss myself if I don't get on the team ✌✌
yo, how do i find a pepper partner in my city? Where im playing, theyre 20 years older then me and all of my friends are not even playing vb. Im from germany. Unfortunatly we dont have open gyms.
@pmevolleyball I'm 15 and 5'9 and im still growing taller but is it possible to be a good hitter even if theoretical peak height will only be around 5'10 to 5'11? the positions i play are middle and sometimes play oppo
Hey, i'm trying to learn to spike and the three step jump is perfect until there is a ball set to me, for some reason i forget everything when i see the ball coming and dont do the three step jump. Is that normal? How can i make my self to make the 3 step aproach? And should i try to learn jump serve if my stamding normal serve is not that great. Thank you, I like your content.
Hi, that is completely normal in the beginning :D one tip that has helped me was an exercise from my trainer. We practiced the three step, then had a setter, but didn't spike it. just let the setter set, you do the three step, and catch the ball in the air, land with the ball in both hands and repeat some times.
Most coaches would probably want you as a middle blocker, but you could play any position as long as you're good at it's main skill. (Outside/Opposite for hitting and Setter for setting are examples)
Volleyball has two fundamentals, serving and forearm passing. You can play volleyball with just those two skills and nothing else. You put the ball into play by serving, and you can keep the ball in play by forearm passing. Those are the two things that every volleyball player should know how to do. Kinda like how every football player should know how to block, tackle and run; regardless of the position you play. If a team cannot pass/serve-receive very well, they will not be a good team. Teams live and die by the forearm pass.
OOOO last year my team record was 48-1 we lost the national semifinal :p (that mightve been on us tho bc we spent the morning running free, playing crossnet, and eating oreos, then when we were about to take a set from them, our middle passed out and we had to put our ds up there and tht didnt end well hehe)
I do play a little good but whenever their is a real match or a serious match I fuck up I don't understand even if I am not nervous Two mains skills that I developed is service and defence and I started playing volleyball 2 months ago and everyone is better and taller than me yeah I am 5'1 and 18
"you need to be the worst volleyball player in every gym you step in" me, 25, has never played volleyball before (played soccer my whole life), joining an adult league with our first practice next week: yep, shouldn't be to hard

The try outs for volleyball at my middle school are in november, wish me luck and ill come back and tell y'all how it went.
do you have some exercises to become quicker on the court?
Do you have any tips on jump setting? I've been wanting to learn but I don't really know where to start.
Thanks for the tips :)
My best skills are passing/serve receive and serving jump floats
Just had my first ever Highschool tryout today, didn’t do to great when it came to passing and setting any tips?

Post the stretching routine.

im pretty good at passing and serving lol i’m also 12 and in 7th grade and starting vball i’m gonna try out for the first time this

Probably receiving and serving are the 2 things I'm pretty decent at

depends on your height cause the net for your age is like 7-7'4 feet
@@YoMegaStar69 I’m 5’2
@@brandisaine1907 so you need like 1 and a half foot vertical to be able to barely spike but to spike comfortably maybe like 1'9 inch vertical
@@YoMegaStar69 ok thanks!
My best skills is my receiving and setting due to me being a libero for about 4 years
Im best at digging and spiking, and my friend has told me ultiple times that i should become a libero. But im not so sure abt it
