  • In today's cinematography breakdown, we're diving into how to make boring spaces look 10x better when you don't have much options to shoot with.
    This is about being creative and using what you have in the provided spaces.
    Not even project you get 100% of a perfect place to work with.
    Often times, it's budget dependant and you need to make choices that best suit the project.
    If you're enjoying our breakdowns, check out our Masterclass where we go into the teachings and HOW we approach every project we approach.

    Amazing video with great value as always! Question; from a production company standpoint, how many crew members were on set (hired by TF), and what % of budget do you normally allot to crew?
    I find in my company, the budgets are never large enough to get the preferred amount of crew and rentals.

    • @TenfoldProduction
      @TenfoldProduction  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We had around 10ish people. It really depends on a lot of factors.
      For this one, the majority was to crew and gear, the TF team ourselves took the upfront cost.
      Often times if the budget is low, we'll allocate funds on crew and equipment / project related costs first.
      Scenarios:
      1. You care a lot about the project, and you're not in a big need of the money (putting that money towards making a stronger end project and a smoother experience)
      2. You need to make money, and you make the sacrifice on the crew /gear.
      It depends on whether you categorize the job as a money job or a portfolio piece.

    Hi. Beautiful video, as well as the shots!
    Tell me please, from your point of view and experience of owning and using many pro movie cameras, that you could recommend in addition to the fx3 and bmpcc6k pro I already own, a third pro movie camera as camera A? I shoot feature films, documentaries, commercials, and other events. I work as a solo filmmaker)
    What I'm considering in general: sony fx6, sony fx9, burano, venice 1, red komodo x, blackmagic ursa cine 12K (new ff), maybe pixys 6k. Or another fx3 + atomos ninja v) The film "The Creator" proves that not always technology comes first, but I do not have such professional optics of course, but I understand that not only this all forms the final image. In general, I have a mixed set of cameras, all of them of different price category, but if I imagine that I have money (the same grants), what is better to take now in 2024 for the next 8-10 years with a reserve for shooting from what I listed? I plan to shoot in maximum quality, and I do not disregard flash drives (hard disks), for me weight and ergonomics are not important. I will be very glad to your answer! Thank you

    • @TenfoldProduction
      @TenfoldProduction  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do you need to buy a camera? The best bang for your buck, is working with better crew, better lighting, and better lenses (through renting). Purchasing camera's has a quick diminishing return and the FX3 and 6kPRO you have is fantastic already. We've shot entire commercials on the FX3 that people think we shot on Arri.

    • @Malak_Production
      @Malak_Production หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TenfoldProduction Yes, I agree with you that the cameras I have are fantastic) I just lick my eyes every time you in your videos narrate and show a beautiful picture and talk about it from more professional and bigger movie cameras)
      But why I want to buy a third one. The thing is that my current cameras are in full dodge. And I don't want to disassemble and reassemble my set-up every time to put the camera on a stabilizer. That's why I want to pick up a third camera to use it in "basic" video just with stabilization system when I need to do any walkthroughs. And I don't know what to emphasize. It is clear that from my list most of the cameras are large, but I would then dismantle one of their sets purely under the stabilizer as an option) Well, and for interviews I ideally need 3 cameras. To have a general view and two more angles on the interviewer and on the person he is talking to.

    • @TenfoldProduction
      @TenfoldProduction  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Malak_Production I would suggest getting a second fx3, it’s a great B cam to your A cam, haha easy match. We are planning on buying a few more fx3’s soon too.

    • @Malak_Production
      @Malak_Production หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TenfoldProduction Thank you so much! I also think that I have not yet unlocked the potential of my fx3) In fact it is hard to choose between buying a second fx3 or bmpcc6k g2) but to the first I still need to buy atomos to get 12 bit raw, because for movies I use it to perfectly match with braw codec. But in the consumer environment of course there are more people with sony movie cameras.
      By owning a corolistics you can achieve similar tones and colors that are in more expensive cinema cameras like venice, right? It would be interesting if they would release a video with an example and possibilities of post processing in this matter. Is it possible to bring the result closer to a higher quality image. Maybe I'm just still so naive :)

    • @TenfoldProduction
      @TenfoldProduction  หลายเดือนก่อน

      With a professional colourists, we’ve matched handy cam 8 bit footage with Komodo red raw before. Truthfully cameras don’t matter alll that much in controlled environments. It’s mainly a dynamic range thing. We’ve matched 5 different camera brands before, all different models (with a professional colourist). Spend money on things that raise your project value. I’d rather rent better lenses than buy a new camera at this point.
