Probably wouldn’t work as a reaction since there’s so many episodes and they’re so short, but it’s still worth a watch if you’re loving P&P 😊
I remembered that movie the first time I saw "Bride and Prejudice" and I thought I wouldn't get over picturing Naveen Andrews being handsy with at times a very naked Indira! But by the end of the movie the actors were so good at their parts in "Bride and Prejudice" that it was totally forgotten.
Most people I know either don't like Kama Sutra or think it's just okay. I really enjoyed it. But, I'm often out of step with non British foreign films. This movie, for example. My friend really liked it. Me? Not as much, but I still enjoyed the commentary
Aishwarya Rai was also cast in a movie with Naveen Andrews, where he portrays an abusive husband. It's called "Provoked." Another western produced movie with her is "Mistress of Spices." Her co-star is Dylan McDermott, and it is supposedly based off of the novel of the same name. I've not watched it (yet). Been told it takes too much creative license...

So happy to see you guys react to this especially because I was someone who spammed you guys in requests for this but with good reason because it’s so much fun! The Ashanti cameo was a reference to "item songs" which are fairly common in Bollywood movies, basically a musical number with a hot celeb doing a cameo completely unrelated to the plot
Seeing Bring It On and the cultural vibes, plus Kira Knightly being in the first Pride & Prejudice film y'all reviewed (I think), and the way my brain works.... Would y'all consider watching "Bend It Like Beckham" (2002)? From 10:59 and on, with the TVD/Originals references and the questionable canon was freaking hilarious, Benji! 🤣🤣🤣 The edits of Benji realizing something made me giggle, you can see the wheels turning (10:46 & 12:32) Thanks for reaction 💕💕💕
Y'all should consider watching the 1995 Pride and Prejudice BBC miniseries if you're not already sick of the story haha. It is the most accurate adaptation! Plus, because they have more time to really delve into the story you get more scenes, taken right out of the book, where Darcy and Lizzy hang out. :)
This is my top adaptation! I watched the bts when i was younger... Besides the singing and dancing, other Bollywood elements were no on-screen kisses, a celebrity cameo not part of the story (Asanti) & a musical number that happens in a location outside of the setting of the movie (Darcy/Lalita date). On the flipside, some of the music was influenced non-Indian genres like "No Life, Without Wife" is supposed to be like the sleepover scene from Grease. Ok, I'm done being a nerd😂
@@PinkPopcastAlso, as a recommendation… Bend it like Beckham is directed by the saw person. Not a Bollywood influenced movie, but an Indian MC in London aaand Keira Knightley and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

I AM GOING TO TAKE CREDIT FOR RECOMMENDING THIS! I watched this on TV (around 20 years ago omg) and became a Gurinder Chadha, Jane Austen and Nadira Babbar (Mrs. Bakshi) Stan in one day
omg i haven't seen this movie since i was a kid!! i fucking LOVE gurinder chadha. if y'all are comfortable watching a hindi movie w subtitles (not even as a request, just for your own enjoyment bc i think you'll like it), "jab we met" is my fave and it has a similar vibe. it's from 2007 so right at the height of the 2000s bollywood era before it got completely commercialized/marketed to white americans. "yeh ishq hai" is genuinely one of my favourite songs ever and shreya ghoshal, who did the singing for a few of kareena kapoor's movies, has one of the most beautiful voices in the history of bollywood imo. i remember hating shahid kapoor 1. bc his character is a prick, 2. bc HE'S a prick irl, and 3. bc i was gay and in love with kareena kapoor. alas, it is a classic 2000s romcom for Exactly those reasons. (also if u want english/bollywood crossovers, there are a ton in this genre to choose from. it's rad bc i never connected to the white ppl romcoms and i thought it was for gay reasons but it was for brown reasons lol. i feel like you would love "polite society" but i'm also lowkey gatekeeping it bc it's too good and nida manzoor is a genius) ANYWAY another banger from the pinkpopcast! hope u have a good day!
@@PinkPopcast okay chat so here's the update: i rewatched it and it's very 2007 in a lot of good ways (outfits, music, scenery, the entire character of geet my beloved, etc) but also in a lot of bad ways (such a toxic relationship oml, on par with literally every other 2000s love story where the men are the worst). honestly if u start and don't like it after an hour, just watch the music video for yeh ishq hai a few times and enjoy the beautiful singing and the beautiful visuals. i still think it's a really good movie, but i'm not 100% sure some of the language/subject matter will translate. some other options for the ppl commenting: nina's heavenly delights, bend it like beckham, and i can't think straight* for english movies, all lezzy or lez adjacent with brown ppl. all on par with imagine me and you (imo). and for hindi films, watch badhaai do. it's good and gay and recent so my memory is hopefully better and i'm sure there will have been magazine reviews u can look at. it's about a lavender marriage between a gay guy and a lesbian who want to have their own relationships. it's cute and funny and silly, but fr i've never seen a happy movie, in hindi, about gay people in india. *there's a song in i can't think straight that's IN ARABIC by an artist WITH AN ARABIC NAME that meant a lot to me spiritually and emotionally and i found out literally last year that it's made by a very, very racist woman who hates muslims and is from a country that starts with the letter "i". and none of this info was available until she started posting propaganda in october. so keep that in mind ig lol!
Queen Aishwarya Rai Bachchan!!!! I love this film soo much! This is technically a Hollywood film directed by and Indian director with all indian elements and the lead actress is the OG queen of bollywood!
If you guys are interested in watching any Bollywood films you should watch Om Shanti Om! It’s about 3 hours long but it’s INCREDIBLE and so emotional and touching
19:29 Another great freeze frame (Also, the Garba scene could be a subliminal reference to one of Aishwarya’s previous films where the songs are still famous)
There was a famous and successful stage adaptation of Pride and Prejudice by Helen Jerome (the old MGM movie claimed it as a source, without actually using it), and it reduced the Bennet girls to 3 -- Kitty is necessary for the story, and she could absorb a little of Lydia, and Mary was just gone.
Also (2 months later) there's no double wedding in the book. A few of the (many, many) screen adaptations have added one, as a visual tie-up. Jane Austen actually doesn't give any dialogue for the final proposals (which are either unseen, or described in a general way), so that adapters have to do a lot of invention toward the end of the story.
The Charlotte thing! 🤣 I was like…damn Benji got him watching saaaax and the city to the point he’s quoting Bruno “that is such a Samantha thing to say” 🤣 But him referring to like..literature. 🤣
When I was a kid, I actually watched this movie before knowing about or watching any of the Pride & Prejudice adaptations. Was so in love with it!! This fun Pride & Prejudice saga makes me hope you guys do Sense and Sensibility (1995) and the modern remake of it, From Prada to Nada (my comfort fave).
Actually, that's only half true. There isn't necessarily a hard and fast rule that enforces the whole "No kissing, no sex on screen" in the Indian movie industry. This movie came out in 2004...several other Indian movies also came out during this time period (early 2000's) and also before it (early and late 90's) that had lots of kissing scenes and sex scenes as well. And no...there were no body doubles or anything like that. And in the current day, it's pretty common for Indian movies to have a kiss scene and more.
I loooooved this movie when I was younger, we would watch it every year with my sister and mother, and I had completely forgotten about it ! Thank you so much for watching it ! Such good vibes !!
You should watch Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela - it’s a Romeo and Juliet retelling with two of the biggest Bollywood stars (who also happen to be married IRL) 👏🏽
Now that you're open to Bollywood, I'd love for you to check out 'Jab We Met'. It's a beautiful, funny road trip movie with good musical numbers and the screenplay is something even non desis can relate and understand. I might be biased because it's actually my favourite movie ever
3:15 Oh please don’t worry about that. Jane Austen fits in beautifully with the Asian context. Sad that we don’t have that many adaptations of her work like in the West.
Aishwarya Rai actually hasn’t kissed in a movie (except for like, once) since she got married, I think I read it was out of respect for her husband, but I’m not 100% 37:46
Not sure if anyone else has already mentioned it, but if you want to keep the Pride & Prejudice train going I would recommend Lost in Austen. It IS a mini series, but very good fun!
Lost in Austen is so much fun! An early aughts London girl switches places with Elizabeth and messes up the story. The cast is fantastic and there are lots of great twists!
First of all guys those shirts are gorgeous! Secondly if you really have enjoyed all the P & P adaptions then I strongly recommend you check out two miniseries, Lost In Austen(2008), Death Comes To Pemberley(2013).

Aishwarya Rai was my first female bollywod favourite before Priyanka Chopra. 10:57 that was when I forgot Elijah Mikaelson was in this movie who also played MJ's boyfriend in Spiderman 2. 12:36 Was that Ashanti?! 29:50 oh geez. And I forgot about Rory Gilmore being in this movie?!
OMG yessss I have been wanting you guys to see this! It was one of my favourites as a kid. My mum had to tell me, unironically, that in real life people in India are not breaking out into song and dance everyday haha
No Life Without Wife gets regularly stuck in my head. Bride and Prejudice really is so much fun. There's a Bollywood movie called Dil Bole Hadippa which is pretty much the Indian She's the Man and it's my guilty pleasure.
If you want Bollywood movies I'm your gal. If you want more Aishwarya Rai movies, some of my faves are Mohabbatein, Devdas, and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Some of the other faves not including her are DDLJ and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Personally I'm biased towards the 90s and early 2000s Bollywood movies because they shaped my childhood but any one of these movies will be amazing to see on your channel.
Okay was not expecting to see this on my feed today but i'm.so happy y'all watched this version!! Gurinder Chadha the director of the movie also directed Bend it Like Beckham which i know you'll love and would love to see a vid for that one as well. Probably wouldn’t work as a reaction since there’s so many episodes and they’re so short, but it’s still worth a watch if you’re loving P&P 😊
Haha Thanks for sharing!!
Totally agree with you. Is really good and Lydia is 100/10
@@tangally I was also going to recommend LBD, but it does not lend itself quite as well to reaction videos. Definitely worth a watch, though.
Fun Fact: The lady who plays Balraj's sister, Kira was also in Obi-Wan Kenobi, she played Tala 😎
The recent Disney+ show?
And Elaria Sand in G.O.T.
she also played suzie costello in torchwood and also had a second little whoniverse role in the recent episode rogue 🙂↕️
HAHAHAHA you guys. The running joke, the tweaking and commentary got me cracking - and this is literally the first time I’m ever watching y’all
Oh my gosh thank you so much! 🎉
Mary's cobra dance looked like that breakdancing lady from the Olympics 😆
Oh nooooo 😭
No way! That Cobra Dance was exciting! That fail from down under WISHES she was that talented!
0:56 The actors here (Naveen Andrews and Indira Varma) play siblings but played lovers in Mira Nair’s ‘Kama Sutra’
That’s always so awkward - like Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson 😬
I remembered that movie the first time I saw "Bride and Prejudice" and I thought I wouldn't get over picturing Naveen Andrews being handsy with at times a very naked Indira! But by the end of the movie the actors were so good at their parts in "Bride and Prejudice" that it was totally forgotten.
@@janicelaccay2926 That’s on good acting lol
Most people I know either don't like Kama Sutra or think it's just okay. I really enjoyed it. But, I'm often out of step with non British foreign films.
This movie, for example.
My friend really liked it. Me? Not as much, but I still enjoyed the commentary
Aishwarya Rai was also cast in a movie with Naveen Andrews, where he portrays an abusive husband. It's called "Provoked."
Another western produced movie with her is "Mistress of Spices." Her co-star is Dylan McDermott, and it is supposedly based off of the novel of the same name. I've not watched it (yet). Been told it takes too much creative license...
My 2 favorite Bollywood movies are Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Band Baaja Baaraat! Both are Rom-Coms, with catchy songs and dance numbers :).
Aww thank you 🎉
I still regularly sing No Life Without Wife like 20 years after watching this movie its so iconic
Did somebody say "Clueless"? 😅 Maybe Emma adaptations could be next 👉👈 Anywas, the first wedding dance in the beginning brings me joy every time I watch it, I love it so much ❤ Thanks for another great one!
we will get to those soon enough! Excited!!!
This is one of my favorite P&P Adaptations!! I love this!!
🥰🥰
10:49 my thirsty ass recognized daniel gillies immediately
You and Benji can have him lololol
The No Life Without Wife guy is one of the two even slightly famous people from my small city lol, his parents used to run a store near my school
Hahaha no way! Where are yall from?
@@PinkPopcast the UK! So his accent was him trying to cover his real British accent to play an Indian trying to cover up his Indian accent with an American one, lmao
Love seeing this movie get love and attention!!!
It was my introduction into Pride and Prejudice and thus what I mentally referred back to when i eventually read the book, and watched the BBC show and Keira Knightley movie
Hahaha not a bad introduction to the world
So happy to see you guys react to this especially because I was someone who spammed you guys in requests for this but with good reason because it’s so much fun!
I think this such a clever adaptation of the source material. And I love how they framed wickham as not only a scumbag but also a gr00ming predator.
Also aishwarya rai decided to gain 20-25 lbs for the role because she wanted lalita to be a girl next door. And I love that they didn’t use the “handsome” excuse because it’s aishwarya rai! She’s one of the most beautiful women ever!
Aww that’s so fun! And yeah, he was a piece of shit lolok
I literally joked to my sister that you guys should watch this adaptation, thinking it wasn’t gonna happen. When she sent this to me that you were doing this, I freaked out! This was one of the first adaptions I saw of Austen’s works! It’s one of my favs.
You guys made us both laugh so much and tear eyed. I was dying at your reaction to the cobra dance. Thanks for doing this one! Love you guys!
PS: Being a bookworm here, I can tell you in the book, Jane and Lizzie do have the double wedding.
I’m so happy we made you and your sister’s day 🥹 and that cobra dance was hilarious!
Have I seen this movie? No. Did I watch and love this video? Duh. I'm gonna watch whatever you guys put out😁
🥹
This is my favorite version of the film. I watched this right after my daughter was born and she’s 21 now.
Wow! I did not think about how much time has passed 😅
This was so much fun😊 Please keep up with Pride and Prejudice inspired movies… Bridget Jones or Fire Island!
We will eventually get to the Bridget films but we covered Fire Island years ago! drinking and watching Fire Island (PRIDE and Prejudice) *FIRST-TIME REACTION*

@@PinkPopcast lol I’ll check it out! I just found your channel this summer with Bridgerton
2:13 The late Saroj Khan was one of our most accomplished choreographers.
🥺🥺🥺
The Ashanti cameo was a reference to "item songs" which are fairly common in Bollywood movies, basically a musical number with a hot celeb doing a cameo completely unrelated to the plot
That’s fucking hilarious 😅
Seeing Bring It On and the cultural vibes, plus Kira Knightly being in the first Pride & Prejudice film y'all reviewed (I think), and the way my brain works.... Would y'all consider watching "Bend It Like Beckham" (2002)?
From 10:59 and on, with the TVD/Originals references and the questionable canon was freaking hilarious, Benji! 🤣🤣🤣
The edits of Benji realizing something made me giggle, you can see the wheels turning (10:46 & 12:32)
Thanks for reaction 💕💕💕
We will definitely (eventually) rewatch that film on this channel!!!
@@PinkPopcast You're familiar with it? Yay! 😊
So we did watch that on Patreon just cause TV shows are hard to do on our main channel!
OMG I'm so happy to see you react to this. This was my favorite version of Pride and Prejudice growing up.
We had a blast! Glad yall recommended it
This is my top adaptation!
WAIT! Did they never kiss on screen!?!? 😮
@@PinkPopcast Nope they always cut away, cover it, or like in her nightmare, she dramatically faints lol
@@PinkPopcastAlso, as a recommendation… Bend it like Beckham is directed by the saw person. Not a Bollywood influenced movie, but an Indian MC in London aaand Keira Knightley and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
Guys there is another version of Pride and Prejudice you might really like, it's a youtube series set in modern times and it's like Elizabeth's vlog on all the events. The characters eventually all show up on camera with Elizabeth. It's called Lizze Bennet's Diaries and it's soooo good!
You’re the first person to recommend that to us… (that I’ve seen)
@@PinkPopcast I've seen a fair share of P&P versions, and some fun adaptations/parodies so if you ever wants a good show/movie I'm happy to recommend. My next recommendation would be "Death at Pemeberly" because I love murder mysteries and I love Pride and Prejudice
I AM GOING TO TAKE CREDIT FOR RECOMMENDING THIS!
I watched this on TV (around 20 years ago omg) and became a Gurinder Chadha, Jane Austen and Nadira Babbar (Mrs. Bakshi) Stan in one day
What a day that was! And we’ll give you that credit!!! 🫡
omg i haven't seen this movie since i was a kid!! i fucking LOVE gurinder chadha. if y'all are comfortable watching a hindi movie w subtitles (not even as a request, just for your own enjoyment bc i think you'll like it), "jab we met" is my fave and it has a similar vibe. it's from 2007 so right at the height of the 2000s bollywood era before it got completely commercialized/marketed to white americans. (also if u want english/bollywood crossovers, there are a ton in this genre to choose from. it's rad bc i never connected to the white ppl romcoms and i thought it was for gay reasons but it was for brown reasons lol. i feel like you would love "polite society" but i'm also lowkey gatekeeping it bc it's too good and nida manzoor is a genius)
ANYWAY another banger from the pinkpopcast! hope u have a good day!
I’ll look up Jab We Met!!!! 🎉
She’s beautiful 🎉
If you guys are interested in watching any Bollywood films you should watch Om Shanti Om! It’s about 3 hours long but it’s INCREDIBLE and so emotional and touching
Thank you 🥹💖
Ohh that's such a blast! Absolutely love that movie, it's soo fun
The way that I STILL listen to this soundtrack like 15 years later 😂😂😂 no life without life will always slap
You should definitely watch Monsoon wedding. Its mostly in English so it will be a nice bollywood watch.
I’ve seen this recommendation twice now hmmm 🤔 😊
Definitely!
0:31 The way I have a comedy set ready on Americans mentioning this but you’re awesome so no jokes today lol
Also, Indira Varma as Kiran WAS ICONIC!
💖💖💖
I had never realised Wickham was Elijah!!!!
Hahahahahaha yuuup!
Yep. That's what surprised me and had me smiling like a loon, when I saw this after TVD and The Originals!
Yall should watch bend it like Beckham it was directed by the same director
We plan to eventually rewatch that on this channel!
Still feels so weird that this released a year before the Keira Knightley and Matthew MacFadyen Pride and Prejudice!
19:29 Another great freeze frame
(Also, the Garba scene could be a subliminal reference to one of Aishwarya’s previous films where the songs are still famous)
We were having so much fun!
9:24 See, this is why we adore you: HE GETS THE REFERENCES
🤭
Hahaha I’m not THAT far gone lolol
When I was a kid, I actually watched this movie before knowing about or watching any of the Pride & Prejudice adaptations. Was so in love with it!! This fun Pride & Prejudice saga makes me hope you guys do Sense and Sensibility (1995) and the modern remake of it, From Prada to Nada (my comfort fave).
37:26 Aishwarya’s look in this scene >>>>>>>>>>>>
Aishwarya in EVERY scene! 😅🥵
@@PinkPopcastWORD
Just so you realise… it is Bollywood tradition that there is no kissing shown between the love interests.
Only embracing is allowed.
We are new to all of this! That’s so fascinating to learn
*encouraged
Petition to make them start reacting to 90’s/2000’s classic Bollywood movies 🙏🏽
I forgot how much I love this film! Watching it with you guys was awesome!
* tips hat * 🎩
Benji’s wish of one of the characters being a vampire has kinda come true LOL
We did it 🙌😂
Well Wickham is a money hungry vampire
Also I would love to see a clueless and Emma reaction to continue the Jane Austen streak you guys been going down.
Sooon(like after November lol)
I loooooved this movie when I was younger, we would watch it every year with my sister and mother, and I had completely forgotten about it ! Thank you so much for watching it ! Such good vibes !!
Hi guys, the double wedding is a thing that happened in the book, so that's why a lot of adaptations have one.
YEEESS thank u I'm so happy you watched this version! Loved the reaction😂 Everybody should watch Bride & Prejudice, it's ICONIC.
I feel like slowly this channel is just turning into a Pride and Prejudice/Cinderella reaction channel and I’m not mad about it 😂😂😂
You should watch Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela - it’s a Romeo and Juliet retelling with two of the biggest Bollywood stars (who also happen to be married IRL) 👏🏽
OH MY WORD. I absolutely love this movie. I haven’t even seen your reaction yet and I’m so happy you guys are watching it
I’m glad we get to watch something you love!
Benji’s Kryptonite: Dress in Live-Action ‘The Little Mermaid’
Rizzo’s Kryptonite: Calling out movie titles only to correct them
😂😂
Man. I have to suggest Bridget Jones' Diary now. Its got heavy inspiration from Pride&Prejudice!
no way! this is one of my favorite movies ever! this made my whole week x
😊😊😊
Now that you're open to Bollywood, I'd love for you to check out 'Jab We Met'.
It's a beautiful, funny road trip movie with good musical numbers and the screenplay is something even non desis can relate and understand.
I might be biased because it's actually my favourite movie ever
Love this version, LOVE the music and dancing. I will be watching the full version. Thanks!
'3 Idiots' (2009) would be a good introduction to Bollywood, if that is something you'd like to venture into. Ta. 🧡
3:15 Oh please don’t worry about that. Jane Austen fits in beautifully with the Asian context. Sad that we don’t have that many adaptations of her work like in the West.
They figured out a way
Aishwarya Rai actually hasn’t kissed in a movie (except for like, once) since she got married, I think I read it was out of respect for her husband, but I’m not 100% 37:46
I will always respect actors wanting their wishes respected!
Not sure if anyone else has already mentioned it, but if you want to keep the Pride & Prejudice train going I would recommend Lost in Austen. It IS a mini series, but very good fun!
We will eventually check that out 🙌🏽
Lost in Austen is so much fun!
I loved this movie bc Aishwarya always had the best clap backs
She’s quick!
thank youuuuuu! one of my favourites, definitely a comfort movie for me.
🥰
awwww omg tysm for watching this!!! literally love you guys
I've seen a lot of Bollywood movies. Some became my favourites. I haven't seen this movie in years. We have this on DVD.
OH MY GOD HE WAS IN SPIDER-MAN 2!!!?!?!? MIND BLOWN 🤯
OMG yessss I have been wanting you guys to see this! It was one of my favourites as a kid. My mum had to tell me, unironically, that in real life people in India are not breaking out into song and dance everyday haha
😂😂
No Life Without Wife gets regularly stuck in my head. Bride and Prejudice really is so much fun. There's a Bollywood movie called Dil Bole Hadippa which is pretty much the Indian She's the Man and it's my guilty pleasure.
Yeah, that song has definitely been stuck in my head since editing lol
THIS WAS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE MOVIES AS A KID! IM SO EXCITED 🎉
HELL YEAH 🎉
If you want Bollywood movies I'm your gal. If you want more Aishwarya Rai movies, some of my faves are Mohabbatein, Devdas, and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Some of the other faves not including her are DDLJ and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Personally I'm biased towards the 90s and early 2000s Bollywood movies because they shaped my childhood but any one of these movies will be amazing to see on your channel.
I’m seeing these requests a lot we might have to take you up on it!
After his comments on musicals, I need to know if Rizzo’s ever seen Chicago. If not that reaction is needed!!!!
Surprisingly I’ve seen the LIVE play but not the movie 😮
@@PinkPopcast well, the movie is definitely the western musical, which puts real effort into the dancing, that you’ve been missing!
10:45 Love that me and Benji, both clocked that was Elijah right away 😂
Okay was not expecting to see this on my feed today but i'm.so happy y'all watched this version!! Gurinder Chadha the director of the movie also directed Bend it Like Beckham which i know you'll love and would love to see a vid for that one as well.
For Bollywood movies, you'll definitely want to start off with something like Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham or Kuch Kuch Hota Hai these are considered classics of the late 90's and 2000's 🤍
Thank you so much 😊

Another Bollywood recommendation: You guys should definitely watch "RRR"! It's pretty long, but it's an incredible movie and a fun time!!
Never in all my days did I think I'd see anyone react to Bride & Prejudice 🤣 I was introduced to this movie by my Jehovah's Witness 8th grade English teacher who made us watch it and write a two page essay on it and I feel that perfectly represents how particular this movie is 😭
I know someone has already mentioned it but just to leave a comment, another vote for Bend it like Beckham!
