- This is day 26 of how to get Onyx in Halo Infinite without jumping, sprinting, and sliding. Basically, I'm a sloth with zero mechanics.

This really shows the emphasis on mastering basic mechanics, as well as map movement and strategy

Wow, it's actually amazing to see a video of halo "slowed down." This is a great reminder of how much basic mechanics and game knowledge matter. Sometimes high octane gamesplay can seem extremely stressful and you end up making a lot more poor decisions. I've been roughly 1500-1700 Onyx every reset, however I feel like I took a tons away from watching just this one video. Mad props man, keep up the excellent content.

I love how you actually play the objective and do little things to help the team like assists. The amount of times I've been one of the only players playing the fucking objective in BTB just to have my efforts be in vain makes me wanna pull out my beard

Best tip i can offer as of late. When you spawn, tell your closest teammate how close/far you are. They can’t see you but it’ll help them adjust their pace.

Not gonna lie, I have heard of friends paying for “coaching” and this video has done more than all of them classes they have taken up until now. Don’t play ranked that much because of the balance and desync which seems to impact a lot to non USA residents but will try after watching your whole series. Great work, thanks for all the tips and staying humble since most “tips” videos would remove their mistakes but you my friend also tell us what NOT to do. Amazing, really!

This is a great video. I definitely find that slowing down really helps regain map control. Do you have any general recommendations for overcoming getting split spawns? I know that's somewhat map dependent too. I tend to struggle on Empyreon when the opponents get that spawn lock. I am definitely going to check out more of your videos!

I think it absolutely helps. The best warm up, imo, is to go into octagon though.

Cool series. This was exactly how i played halo 3. I was hyper focused on my k/d. I may only get 9 or 10 kills a game but i would have zero deaths. I just prefer more technical patient play.
That’s perfect Halo. I’ll sometimes take crap from people that are saying, why are you baiting me? And most of the time, they weren’t calling out saying they needed help, they didn’t coordinate a push, they didn’t make an effort to fall back. I mean i get it, you’ll spawn back, but dying does nothing for a team.
@@DoddsMcFodds Yeah usually guys that are relying on their team are not playing with their team. If you make a push that requires your team to push riskily with you to work, then you probably shouldn't make that push, and at the very least you need to communicate what you're doing.

Holding A and C plat during the first hill in Recharge KOTH is a pretty effective strategy. Forces the enemy to spawn into pipes and it takes a lot of time to push from there.

Swat was one of my favorite game types back in the day
sometimes I watch these and Halo seems so easy. Then I pick up the sticks and have 1 or 2 teammates go something like 4-14 every single game and I don’t know what Halo wants from me
Yeah i mean it didn’t start here… this is Years of playing Halo and studying competitive FPS . However, I’ve learned quickest through making mistakes and slow incremental progress. Like quite literally focusing on one gun, in one spot, on one map. It starts there.
@@DoddsMcFodds I get that it’s part of why I want to get decent at halo now, I love studying things in general. I never thought when I was younger that halo could actually have so much going on I just approached it as a “game” so I think it’s interesting to learn to play it correctly. My accuracy is shite but my performance is fine and I think I’m getting better but with the way matchmaking is it’s impossible to tell sometimes.
Since you did this challenge for improvement do you have any practical ideas to help someone improve? I’ve thought about picking 1 or 2 maps and only ever watching theater on those. Or maybe trying to only care about one gametype for a bit. I use cover but I specifically have a problem with going around corners a step or two too wide so cover isn’t immediately reachable, it’s slowly getting better but I’m not sure of a way to really make it stick.

Great breakdown. I don't get to play too much, but I still like to be better at Halo. This definitely helps. Are you on controller? If so, what numbers are you using for aiming? Or what numbers would be good for a novice to intermediate player? Thanks.
Thanks for watching and the feedback. Yes I’m on controller. I’ll be releasing a full settings video after the series but I’d recommend starting a notch or 2 below default. Then slowly go up until you find your sweet spot. But you have to give at least a couple hours of dedication for each setting.

Yo, you can get the power items without mechanics: the sword with a Combat Evolved, repulsor to the ground, same for Live Fire for the overshield

trying to incorporate your style into my gameplay, i hit onyx every season peaked 1750. Now im stuck HARD in d4 d5, maybe im just washed up, how has the new season felt for you?
Nah you’re not washed up. Season feels the same competition wise but i crash every few games and lose -15 each time so it makes climbing the ranks really hard.
This is what old school fps players wish they could play like lol.

If that's anything I learned from this, your team can be trash but as long as they're trying to play the objective and you yourself focus on distract the enemy, you can still win.

strange that you'd want A and B over A and C lol
If you control B you usually control top Gold and from there you have a direct sighting to cat walk over at A and vice versa. However C has no vantage points into A.
@@DoddsMcFodds hmmm but C has a direct vantage point into B as well as sword AND camo LOL and you can watch to see if they're going to A or not to alert your team. When they try to take C, they're putting themself into a bottleneck, much like the battle of thermopoli, when trying to take C... the only other course of action for them to take is to go around through blue pipes... and if they do that, they leave their teammate(s) alone to face off against potentially 2 people. it's one of the easiest to defend in my experience... meanwhile, the other team is stuck spawning at B while you have A as well and you can easily team-shoot them while they're trying to move out of B.
I don't know, my teams have always won when we hold A and B... we always lose when some rando tries to take B LMFAO and gets shot from 3 angles LOL but idk maybe it works for other people

@@DoddsMcFodds haha ya, typo, A and C and usually at A, we're not hanging out on the balcony, and you've got a pretty good view from inside A... so if you don't push B too hard, they don't spawn anywhere besides gold LMFAOOO and if they DO take one, you can always emergency - take B, depending on how many people went for which zone
