That was me actually hahaha. I have my moments for sure, but I always do my best to stay positive for my team! Toxicity gets you nowhere!
Some people start crying about their teammates 2 minutes into the game and act like the game is unwinnable. It's insane.
@@zachbeall6810 The amount of games I've won that were crazy comebacks is ridiculous. Too many people don't understand, its not over 'til its over! Sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and do a mental reset, figure out what you're doing wrong and play fo ryour team and not for yourself

Very interesting game theory man. The fact that your teammates say "How can we help you" is very awesome! Very rare to see it in lower ranks. I'm still in Gold 1, but I don't play often enough to really get better, It's a slow climb. I try to call out and help even though I'm the only one on mic.
Yeah man its a rough world out there. I think once I start a discord i'll be able to rally people across various ranks that will be more suitable to play with.

Man literally just explained teamwork lmao. But for real, this is genuinely good stuff. I have some rules for myself when I solo in any game modes.
1: Stick with a teammate
2: Support them, don't expect them to support you
3: Deny the enemy power weapons
4: Cover your flanks, such as a split in a hallway
5: Tag anything and everything you think will give your team the upper hand
6: Control your shots
7: Have fun :)

Hey Dodds! Another awesome video. Every time you publish something, I learn so much! I really appreciate how in round 1, some things went right, then in round 2, other things improved, and in round 3, you put all the pieces together and executed beautifully. I think a big part of Halo is molding yourself to fit a role within your team. It's not always apparent who will play what role, so being flexible and going for assists is important. Keep making great content like this, please!

Great video! Ultimately winning is better than losing and many people might think that this video is encouraging low KDA but this is good for teams where in most games you do well KDA wise and might be having an offgame, this is where you can still contribute to a win despite having a bad game personally. This video is still valuable to show people that even when they have an off game that doesn't mean that the team has to lose. Excellent video and it was very entertaining. 😎

The issue with support play is it doesn't count towards your MMR/CSR as much as a positive Kill/Death Ratio does. This can have negative effects on your account where you won't gain as much CSR per win and you will lose more CSR on a loss. The Ranking system is broken because if this is working "as intended" then they are trolling us. This is coming from someone who is getting stats such as 10-10-12 and the game thinks you are Neutral on K/D even though post game you will have a positive KDA. Feel free to enlighten me with information or if you've had a similar or dissimilar experience.
I know they’ve updated it to reflect less on individual stats. Either way I’ll take a win and bad stats over a loss and great stats.

@@DoddsMcFodds that's fine but losses are inevitable and taking a 10 CSR loss and gaining 5 for a win sets you back. Ultimately it's KDA that helps someone rank up. I wish the system awarded CSR and MMR for great obj play but it doesn't. They need to fix that going forward. They say they have but it's not reflected in the CSR gains after the game is over.

Wow! This is me on so many games. Trying to play objective isn’t always about holding the ball but about preventing the other team from getting to it. I end up with so many assists. If my teammates are consistent they will be able to finish the kills but because I solo Q my teammates rarely understand what I am doing and get so mad. I’m just trying to help them but unless I’m top slayer. You either get hate for not holding the ball 24/7 or not getting enough kills. There are times when I have been top slayer and ball holder and teammates still got mad at me…lol. Hopefully one day I’ll find great teammates like you have. So understanding.

I call myself the right fielder because I'm not good but I can be clutch. Playing as a team and knowing the objective is key. It's as important as communication.
Halo, at its core, is a numbers game. Your job isn't to complete a kill - it's to subdue the opponents when and where you can so that your numbers are stronger, and to ensure your team can confidently make plays rather than cycle through vulnerable moments and pray to live through them.
Imagine a fighter in the octagon. They don't really care if a particular arm or leg racks up hits, it's about winning the fight.
When you can internalize the idea that baiting out your teammate is a fool's gambit and you shouldn't try to force your opponents into the death screen at all costs, you'll vastly improve.

I always go for kills in objective type games, and the reason is simply my limitations as a player. I am not good enough to both hold the ball/zone/flag and defend against enemies at the same time.
Also I've noticed that the other three on my team usually go for the objective, and in that scenario it's useful to have the fourth guy run around and be a killing machine.

if assists were on the scoreboard in games like this you would know you are having a good game. I constantly dish out assists but you wont really know till wingman pops up

An objective based mode would be fun.
What if player are rewarded not by getting kills but by making sure your time dies less?
What if rank was important? Your team gets a bonus incentive by keeping the highest ranking player alive for as long as possible.
Edit: yeah something like this already exists it could be a VIP mode.

I think with the disrupter on the 3rd shot it does a combine effect so you can get a 3 shot melee. But the first 2 shots do basically nothing.
They nerfed the disruptor so it doesn't do damage over time anymore :(
@@seanspero5708 yeah but the 3 shot melee is still a thing I think. And 2 shots still does nothing. Overall ttk is still supposed to be the same so maybe not a nerf.

It’s curious how going out to assist your teammate on kills, will eventually lead to them wanting to help you get kills as to not have you be the only one not benefiting of the victory and the exp.
And the lead to the team to fully embrace cooperation and help out in any way possible, of course this may vary throughout games as most don’t really go for the “team” approach
But so far I’ve had many more encounters with a team willing to help if you put in the effort as well or try to help guide you if your performance isn’t good!

As nice as this video is, the overall sentiment on KDA is still the overall consensus on judging player skill. Especially when you're playing solo. Because of this, most players will never see your damage numbers until after the game, all they see, is your KD during the game itself. If they don't see a positive numbers, teammates give up, or at worst, they get frustrated and start shooting you. It's very tilting, and there is nothing that can be done to truly change this unless you group with a 4 stack who knows you as a player like this in this video.
Right? There’s so many games where I get single digit kills but double digit assists and we win by a few kills and ppl still talk shit
You get 3/4 a kill so if you don’t die a lot you get a positive kd

The only stat at the end of the day that matters is Ws and Ls. We have to be less insecure about our bad KDAs and more confident in what we need to do for the win.
@DoddsMcFodds I truly wish the entire halo community got behind that sentiment. I, for one, am doing my best to not be a part of the toxicity, and your videos do help my own mentality when playing Halo. Maybe someday, people will worry less and less about K/D, but there are still a LOT of egos out there, especially in ranked playlists, that ruin the game for me.

You are onyx. In platinum and below, you aren't getting out unless you can carry, because enemies are suicidal and nobody knows strategy or can shoot. A 1 and 9 player on a team will quit or have teammates quit. And I can't carry, especially since the update in May where my shot has completely stopped working. I went from 5 6 and 7k damage to 2k damage on average. I went from having games at gold 3 with 46 and 30 kills to being negative every game.
I'm now back to Gold 1. Whatever 343 changed, I'm almost ready to give up on Infinite.

If you're solo queuing a lot that is the problem. You have to be considerably better than the players at your rank in order to rank up. I think from my experience you have to play at the level of a Diamond to get to Platinum solo queuing, and Onyx to solo queue to Diamond so on and so forth. Being Gold 1 right now as you say, if you had a solid 4 stack to play with you would likely be a low Platinum before the lobby feels impossible for you. But since you're solo queuing, you will need a major skill breakthrough or you need to go mess with your settings and reduce input lag to help you get your aim back. But if it's a skill issue than just try bot walking and calm shooting to win gunfights and play more sloth like. This works wonders in Gold up to low Platinum. Go do a custom game with 8 spartan bots HCS FFA Slayer, set instant respawns and go open the lobby, set the map to Aquarius, Recharge or Live Fire and go practice this technique until it becomes second nature, then go into ranked and slay out. You will have Godly aim, and your lobby won't feel as sweaty. You'll be in Platinum in no time. I guarantee it.
What I mean by calm shooting is slow smooth deliberate shots. Try to get kills with the lowest amount of bullets possible. When tracking an enemy player do so smoothly. Strafe smoothly. Everything is about being smooth as butter and you'll find that killing is easy. Calm shooting. It's the new martial art for Halo. Become a black belt. Setup that custom and fire away until you've mastered calm shooting.
Also, try these senses and mod them based on the input of your controller. 445 for your sensitivity then 455 left stick and right stick. 104 FOV and try that for starters. It's perfect for calm shooting. Play like a sloth, walk and look for enemies, ping them for your random teammates and calmly shoot the enemy get smooth kills. Have fun!
Also. I'm currently in middle Platinum but I hit Diamond this season playing with a sweaty team but I played with some drunk friends afterwards and my rank tanked back to Platinum 3 and I'm solo queuing back to Diamond. So you know I'm not a gold guy giving you advice.
