I only wish they had done the Broncos a decade ago, before the stricter emissions standards started forcing the use of smaller turbo'd engines everywhere. Bronco Sport with a V6 and the Bronco with a V8 would have been fantastic, and likely have been able to last much longer (engine-wise). Engines aside, Ford has really put a lot of thought into the Bronco line. As long as they are long-term reliable, they have the potential to be a real success story for Ford.

    • @syxepop
      @syxepop 3 ปีที่แล้ว

That NA-2.5L doesn't make the 250hp (there's no EB'd version of the engine). It makes like 175hp.
The one that makes 250hp is the EB'd 2.0L used in the Badlands Bronco Sport, topline on the Escape, base on the Lincoln Corsair and in other larger apps, like the Edge, Taurus and Explorer.

I own a bronco sport. It has lots of interior room for a small truck. I am 6 foot 10 inches tall and weigh 300 lbs. I fit in both the front and back seats comfortably. The 1.5 l turbo has plenty of spunk. Had it on the freeway at 80 rpm was 2200. Had no problems. It drives great on snow and ice. Only thing is my dog doesn't like the fact the rear windows dont go down all the way.

As someone who's owned older versions of this kind of thing, like a full size blazer, Scout 2 and a Jeep cherokee, they need to go back to the tail gate version instead of a trunk lid. It's far more useful in this kind of vehicle and a nicer place to sit if you go outdoors for a picnic or something. Even better if the rear seats can fold down flat, so you could sleep in the back with the tailgate down. And a tailgate that could also open sideways like a door would get 6/5 penguins from me. ...though, if your going to buy a "Bronco", you should be slapped if you get this version or the 4 door instead of the 2-door, which is the only one that deserves the Bronco name plate.

The one thing they got wrong was the price. To get the 2.0 you have to choose the badlands package and after just a couple of options you are at $36k. For $38k you can get a ranger crew cab XLT with locking rear axle that will out tow and easily be more capable offroad (not to mention last a lot longer doing it with a solid frame). It will definitely have more pep too.

11:33 - I drove through bugs the other day, and there were so many that it sounded like rain was hitting the car. I was 30 miles from the nearest town, on a 2 lane road with no shoulder. This is something that happens several times a year, though it's particularly bad this year for unknown reasons. I would love to have a bigger washer fluid tank.

What’s the reliability of the internals on this 3cyl ? I suspect we will all start seeing videos about blown head gaskets and warped cylinder heads in a few years.

Naw, worn cylinder linings and bearings is my bet. Idk if it's direct injected, then you can also expect fouled up intake runners and valves.

Yeah I got a feeling it's gonna have more problems than most of its higher displacement direct injection brothas & sistas.
If it came from the factory with a blow-by catch can that might help but I can foresee premature detonation problems from carbon build-up around the valve surface/ seats/guides/cylinder head pocket cavities on both available engines.

Hey Sarah, your car reviews are a hoot as well as being very informative. Great job! Just curious about your location. Perhaps it's secret? It might be the Tucson area (I'm in Green Valley), but I can't really be certain. Can you disclose?

  • @ColJonSquall1

People were probably getting confused because this came out and the new Bronco isn't here yet, and were thinking Ford pulled a Chevy with the Blazer crossover. As I didn't even know until journalists were all talking about the confusion, that it was a thing. I was like "I know its a different vehicle, but I guess some weren't as well informed (somehow).

Hi Sarah. I love your videos and watch each one pretty much as soon as you upload it. However, like a lot of your other regular subscribers, I don't live in the US. Is it possible when you do your car reviews that you could add a comment or two about their international availability? This Bronco looks great, but it would also be nice to know if Ford US intend to market it overseas. I'm sure your fans in Europe, Australia, Asia etc. wonder the same thing.
Otherwise, keep up the great work. I love how you mix humour and artistic creativity with immense technical knowledge. You're an absolute star! Much love from the UK.

Its not what you think. With most vehicles, there's a car and a xover/SUV option. The Bronco in the video is an Escape and a Lincoln MKC. The Focus was the car version of this vehicle. They can always go back to it. The only reason the Bronco Sport was introduced was because the vehicle was already in production with different branding.

It looks kind of like the original 2000-2006-ish Escapes... Much more like the Escape did than the new "Escape" does, which is sadly basically just another car/station wagon, but not really off-road capable at all anymore...
    :(
This thing though... this should have been the replacement for the original Escape!

That rear hatch that can just open the window. Yes. Ford escape/Mazda Tribute had that. Loved it. Ever opened your rear hatch and have everything fall out?
Wish other automakers would take note.

It just reminds me of a mid-2000's Ford Escape/Mazda Tribute. We won't get this in Australia. It's sort of like a suburban Bronco but I can't wait to see the review on it's big brother.

I had the little BS as a rental (about 800 miles of driving); overall, I did not like it. The biggest things I didn't care for were: The front portion/section of the front seats (lower seat cushion section) was way too high at the front even in the lowest setting...and...the suspension worked better at highway speeds (75 to 112 mph) than on the trails! The best part of the vehicle was the engine sound...it had a beefy-throaty sound to it.

Hard to imagine paying 30k for a vehicle with a 3 cylinder aluminum engine, however I do like the option that allows you to disconnect the engine, lift it out and put a chain saw bar, saw chain and handle on it. It's very handy.

I keep watching Vaughn Gitten Jr. do his thing in the desert with the sport, & am pleasantly surprised, yeah! It's no joke.
Our dealer, having started sales, hasn't had any in for service just yet, but I'm curious about it's basic maintenance needs, in how well it's serviceability is.
100% looking forward to the Bronco's release & progression. Already having gear ready from Ford, I'm anxious to see how the aftermarket will give it the treatment 😎
