    I fully get missing the teaching, I teach Design & Technology to 11-16yr olds(I thunk you guys call shop) ive been trying to keep the teaching going since we locked down in the UK back in March but man it's hard to come up with stuff kids can do at the other end of a computer. The feed back you get from students makes your day (good or bad!). Im at the point on my project (full every nut, bolt, wire, pipe panel rebuild of a land rover defender 110) of working out the wiring and combination with all my additions, i had to learn TIG from you from your videos so I could rebuild the entire rear tub which is all Alu! Ill fire up some pics before n after. Thanks for all your help! I bet you get yours finished before I do!

    I love ur content! Even at ur most mentally blocked days its still better than mine lol. I have been hitting up TH-cam for about 2 months now trying to teach this old dog new tricks. Came across ur channel and have watched just about every video. I am saving up to get a little better welder so I can start my fab journey. I'm afraid nothing will ever be this kind of project but little things for sure. I'm a truck driver by trade. Help my friends with their cars on weekends and I just need a hobby, at almost 40 years old its time. Thanks again for the videos and please don't stop.

    The backwards 4 link will wheel hop it will work against it's self .the tork will lift instead of planting also the ride will be terrible when hitting bumps jamming and jumping and braking will be choppy .fab work is awesome

    Justin on tight cuts like that bracket on the cross member sawsall is my best friend also plasma cutter if sawsall won't fit. Everyone has their personal favorite way of doing things though and long as the end result is satisfactory that's all that matters. Keep up the awesome work I've been really enjoying this series 👍

    I've had to assist people get better at their welding skills(?). A comment or two in this video reminds me of some of my most used comments (in one form or another)... "That looks like crap" and "thank the gods for hand grinders" and "you are suppose to be welding. I have no idea what that crap is".

    for the proportioning valve you can put a cable that go inside the cabin on the load bracket. that way you can change the brake balance from inside

    Seriously Justin.
    Can't believe you still don't have a hand rail on those stairs. You should also consider pulling them back a few feet making an offset landing to get around that return in the wall of the loft area also to help make them osha compliant.
    Do something with the aerosol cans on them too.

    Instead of drop spindles could you just move the control arm mounts up relative to the chassis??

    • @dennisnbrown
      @dennisnbrown 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Air bags wouldn’t fit

    • @janeblogs324
      @janeblogs324 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Better for roll center handling to move the mounts though

    • @buellb0y
      @buellb0y 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get the impression he’s doing drop spindles and moving things around. He said the ball joints were maxed out with the airbags installed. Lifting or dropping a vehicle almost always fcks with the designed center axis of the ball joints.

    • @ianbuilds7712
      @ianbuilds7712 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd keep the stock suspension geometry just move it all up as much as it needs to be lowered. on the off chance the bag really doesn't fit just make a custom upper that allows it to pass through or drop the mounting point relative to the lower so the bag kinda mounts thru it... I've had to do both of those things on past projects but it's really the steering geometry that dictates where u can and can't move the suspension..I try to stay away from drop spindles because they do mess with handling and they put wierd stess and leverage on upper ball joints although looking at the rear I don't have any hope for " normal" handling characteristics anyway

    • @253fabrication
      @253fabrication 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ianbuilds7712 ya the reverse 4link is meh.
      Quality drop spindles keep the same "general" geometry as the OEM ones, it just mounts the hub higher, Which eliminate's the upper ball joint from being maxed out. Longer upper control arms + moving the mounts lower and further back (keeping the same geometry, just longer) would also work. Or replace the ball joints with uniball's and get more suspension travel👌

    • @joecool5034

    • @gordowg1wg145
      @gordowg1wg145 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      He mentioned it was due to the conventional front mount not fitting in the planned vehicle. It can cause oversteer twitchiness problems in bump/roll steer depending on the linkage angles, but looks like it should be OK.

    • @janeblogs324
      @janeblogs324 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It doesn't function the same though.
      The engine torque rotates the links, very hard to set the anti/pro squat (and no one makes it adjustable anyway)
      But it's an 80s mini truck/wagon so who cares
