    - Practice everyday
    - Work on your mistakes rather than practicing the whole song over and over again
    - Be careful with your intonation, fix your mistakes while playing rather than ignoring

    • @terrabucher6283

      The struggle is real. If you are having issues with string crossings, it may help to experiment a little with your posture and your hold with the violin. Even tiny adjustments in this regard can really make things line up a lot nicer making all your hard work on the bowing technique really pay off.
      Memorize the passages if you can so you can really see what is going on there and what the technical issue is. Practicing with open strings can give you the ability to isolate your bowing without the distraction of left hand coordination.

    Oh Wow... My Teacher said I have excellent intention (Is that how you spell it?) but I didn't really know what that meant. She explained that I correct myself when I am off. I'm only on my 4th lesson. You explained it really well too. It's good to hear it from someone else like you as well as my Teacher. My Teacher was a Student of Jascha Heifetz!! I can't believe I have someone like her to teach me!!! I'm in Aww every-time I visit her. She showed me personal pictures of Jascha Heifetz and well known other violinist that she traveled with and have signatures of. She is world famous Beverly Somach - She is 82 now and I think she does not travel around the world anymore. I asked her how she became a student of Jascha Heifetz and she told me that you could not even have lessons from Him until you were a world professional.

    Thank you for your videos. They are quite encouraging and illustrate some practical points. Unable to find a good violin teacher, I started learning violin with a pianist who has also been a conductor. I progressed well first year, having started at age of 34,but now there are days I feel I am not getting ahead and am depressed. My left hand has this quality of tightening that affects speed, vibrato etc. Today I am really depressed. So thanks for this video.

    • @Figjamxlaststar
      @Figjamxlaststar 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JHi, what I used to get my students to do to get speed right, is play very simple pieces that are quite fast. The best type of music for this is Folk music and Bush dancing music. They are played quite fast but not very hard to play. And the very good thing about these style of pieces is that they allow you to start slow and build up. The other reasons is they normally have runs in them. It is a good way to learn speed, set fingering and bowing techniques. The othe thing to note is look at what part of the bow you are playing with. If playing very fast you should be right up near the tip of your bow. If at moderate pace between the middle and the tip, for slower and more tonale sound play near the front to the middle and try and use the whole bow! Also focus on your bowing wrist! If your wrist is to tight you will never get fast bowing down pat! Try holding the bow with only three finger 1,2nd and 3rd and thumb lift your pinky off, this will encourage you to put a little more forward pressure on the bow and will give better clarity in sound. Once mastered put your pinky back down. Hope this helps!

      Hi I’m 17 and have been discouraged with my own laziness so some advice don’t become lazy and work hard for your dreams and never give up that theory applies to everything you do 😁

    Many thanks. Is there a good place/book/collection to get Hallelujah from? Scratch that... It's the very next recommendation after this and it is your video....

    Record yourself, analyze, fix.
    Do not be in a hurry..
    That's what my teacher told me.
    For me, it's best if you have a teacher to guide you. 🙂
