Oh man, I am so lucky I found this excellent channel. It brings me the fondest memories I have of anything. I am an old guy, I pretty much spent every weekend here in Hatteras Village in the summers - 1960s - 1980s surfing Buxton. Avon, Frisco, and Rodanthe. I remember when the lighthouse was on the beach. Was kinda sad to see it moved, but would have been devastated if it wasn't. When I was very young I remember the Oregon Inlet Ferry. You would never know how long the ferry ride would take, it changed significantly week by week, depending on the tides and the always shifting sandbars. Keep up the awesome work Brett! (work? - I will take this job any day.) Thank you!
Just sub’d this channel....I too remember surfing Hatty with the lighthouse right there at the water in the 80’s...remember In The Eye Surf Shop, Bubba’s BBQ and Wes Lane and his Va Beach crew rolling up one sesh and shredding the crap out of head high jetty waves...good memories and stoke!
@@jono3395 bubbas was awesome. I used to stay at Frisco woods campground , right next to Bubbas when we used to go down there in the 80s.. the Brew Threw was an interesting concept too.
At like 9:35 ish I would be willing to bet that that's one of the best lefts ever with the right swell..the way it peels around the point epic...live the dream
The great thing about surfing on softies and novelty waves is you forget about performance. It's just about getting in the water, and you can't help but have fun. Kook it up as much as you want. And where I get my novelty on it's never crowded. The biggest hazard is busting fins out on the sand landings. Cool vid. Cheers Brett & Ben.

They were part of the pier that was used to build the jetties... they uncover after storms. Although with the jetties rapid structural decline, you'll likely see them more and more often.
Really Brett, did you listen to your comments in the video? Were you really a "Big Puss Dog" in the video, or were you just weighing the risks versus the benefits using common sense? What happens when one of the Groms says I can do that and loses, when he can surf 20 feet away and not put himself at such risk and still be a legend? There's a difference between common sense and shear stupidity. Don't get me wrong I like what you guys do otherwise, and that's why I'm here, but you all go too far and are all addicted to the "shot" no matter what the risk. Sending the wrong message is not for the win. Sending the right message is always for the win even without the added risk. Last time I looked bro, we were on the same team, just a different number.
@@rikrok2073 I legitimately was nervous for fear of falling on the rocks or against the pilings... But there wasn't any fear of seriously injuring myself, because the waves were moving so slowly. But that's why I don't skateboard... I'm a nancy when it comes to falling on concrete.
Hit sand dunes, very miserable, good wind but continuous blowing of sand, everybody now very weak, thought Sam and Moore were all gone. LaMotte's eyes are gone, everyone else's eyes are bad. Still going N.W.

Where did those pilings come from? Been a while since I surfed that groin. Never remember any pilings.
