  • This is a video of how I defeated the famous JBL Stereo subwoofer rattle in the back window of Camry XLE. This would apply to a 2018-2024 Toyota Camry XLE/XSE with upgraded infotainment system.

Thank you so much for making this video. This worked wonders for me! Just bought a used 2023 Camry with the JBL speakers and the rattle is unbearable even with the base at the neutral setting. Did the exact same thing as shown in this video and 99% of the rattle is gone! (That 1% is me sitting in a super quiet parking garage and listening to a song that had constant loud rattles before. There was still a tiny bit of rattle with that song but I doubt I would notice it even during city driving)

I hope this video helps someone else defeat the rattle/vibration.

Thanks for this video. It really helped me. I have a se without sub. But i made a 4th order bandpass and run the port through the sub hole. That package panel does rattle. I used foam swimming noodle. But im also going to try what u showed. My bass volume is alot higher than yours but those rear panels r the only panels that make noise.

I did the same thing to my 18 Camry when I first got it back in 2017 and it got rid of that bass rattle

I took my 2023 Camry with JBL speakers to the dealer and before they started working on it/listening to it at all the guy at the desk was trying to say "well any sound system has a rattle if your music is loud enough" and "well what's your bass eq at". Even after explaining that the eq was at a complete neutral level and the sound volume could be at like 15-20 (out of 40) and it'd still rattle and he kept trying to sell the "well they all kinda rattle blah blah". Gonna try this soon. They put a rubber tube somewhere back there and it stopped a lot of it but it still kinda does it. I don't know what yours sounded like but mine was LOUD. Literally sounded like a door stop when you pull it and let it go

Yeah, I got the same answer with no solution from my dealer. I really don’t think a 40k car should have a rattle as bad as the one that seems to plague all the Camrys with the jbl system. Mine _now_ rattles when going over bumps and just closing the freaking door. It’s ridiculous!

Yeah exactly, mine was like the springly door stop! This took pretty much all of it away.

Is there any hack I can use to stop the crackling in the front passenger door speaker? I thought I "blew" the speaker by turning up the volume to 35...

Imagine my car cost around 34 thousands in Saudi Arabia and I don't have the JBL unit nor blindspot system 😂

What type of sound system does the Lexus have

    • @toyorobo

JBL as well. Toyota/Lexus licenses JBL just like NIssan and GM license Bose.

I have applied sound deadening to the inner part of all the doors and deck lid metal and deck lid cover itself and door cards and b pillars and covers also felted and foamed all the wiring harnesses ,fixed play in the door switches, applied foam ring around the door speakers, applied foam for the door panel clips so they don't move and vibrate. and applied a better ring around the subwoofer, on the doors and b pillar and c pillars from the plastic wiring casing from rattling against the metal, took out the rear dome light applied deadening inside there and foam pads between the headliner inside the rear light where the headliner meats the metal support bar on the roof, and rear glass window has felt all along the rear deck lid edge where it touches the rear glass, upper left and right and middle headliner foam between the headliner and rear glass, and also rubber edge trim on the rear c pillar covers from rattling against the glass. I did fill all the holes with foam, also placed sound deadening on the other side on the bottom of the subwoofer. sound deaden areas in the trunk where it didn't sound solid, and felted and foamed those harnesses as well, also did the trunk lid and taillight harness, also have a silicone license plate cover to give more structural rigidity to the license plate and quiet the closing it helped, also sound deaden the gas door cover cause it rattled and foamed the gas cap plastic wire. but the problem really truly lies in the subwoofer cone is not deep enough for rap songs where it maxes out and hits the housing on the subwoofer with certain rap songs at certain frequencies it creates a rattle. and other frequencies with the kilmat sound deadening the jbl sounds way more tuned and controlled with rattling then stock.

Lol. This is basically my ongoing project now that a new sub is in the trunk. Sound deadened the rear deck, trunk and trunk lid. Lined the seatbelt cups on the rear deck. Stuffed insulation around the deck sub grill. Stuffed matching carpet between deck cover and c-pillars. Unhooked a clip on the center passenger side headliner area (good tip on foam so I can reattach that clip). Tonight I noticed that certain body panels resonate at 60hz, so chasing down those fixes should be a blast. One thing I'll need advice on is fixing the rattle in the passenger side brake light housing, but that will come down the road unless you have a solution. Unbelievable how a $44k XSE has minimal vibration treatment. The SEs are even worse. That huge rear deck foam template tho...
