Even then you don't know what the future may bring. I used to take a sharpie and use tape to color in the border to all my white border cards because they clashed with my black border stuff.
I sold off all my old cards because I could never use them because the only supported formats were always either limited draft/sealed or standard then they changed the game after and all that stuff became relevant again.

I am a patron and didn’t buy the 6.9 year anniversary kit, but that was because of a personal financial issue due to a medical emergency. If I could have I would have bought it even with all of the conflicting responses to the sale. Love Alpha Investments.

Rudy has had a great work ethic and care for the people who purchase product from him. For example, I purchased some individual cards from him on eBay. I left a message for him on my purchase saying keep up the good work on TH-cam. The items were lost in the mail. I emailed him about it, he refunded the money. A month later, I received the items. I emailed him to let him know. He was pleasant to chat with and I paid him back for the product. He even left a thanks on the envelope on my product.
Interactions like that really show how much a person cares for their business and buyers of his product. Keep up the great work Rudy!

I got banned by Rudy after trying to figure out what happened to my shirt order on eBay. It was a real feel bad moment because I haven’t even purchased anything in like a year from Rudy, still paid the $15 a month though. If I wanted to get banned or do fraudulent things it makes sense to go big on booster boxes, not a shirt. Never got the shirt either. Just asked where the shirt was through eBay because the tracking never updated and it had been a few weeks. No communication just a ban on a separate platform and I can still purchase from him on eBay. Not being hateful, just saying people fall through the cracks

Most normal people when they see prices increase, just go to a different type of storefront. for instance my lgs is selling draft boxes of dominaria remastered for 230 with their discount, just went online and ordered one for 180 instead. People who complain about the price to the storefront just don't understand the opportunity cost most of the time. different stores sell for different rates because of their location. If a product is too high its because that's the most popular product, and the store wants to make their money's worth due to their limited supply. I don't like the price, but there's nothing I can do about it since there's no other local competition for magic products for at least 20 miles and convience is a big key factor for me when deciding to make a purchase at my lgs.

Regarding the 6.9 anniversary kits, I think having a variation of pins and colored dice would have made them more valuable. If there was 20 different pins, and you only got 5 per kit, people would want to collect and buy the ones they are missing. You probably didn't need to spend so much on making the box look so premium and having the fancy plastic sheet inside too. I would have rather paid $50 less per kit for ones with a non 'premium' box (especially as the expected value of the kits went down by so much after they were created). I still have my 4 kits sealed, so it gives me hope that one of the artist proof gemkeeper cards is inside.
Having variation would have jacked up the price. It costs a company time to change equipment over to make varying product. So if you have small runs the company making them is going to ask for more money.
@@gregpenismith1248 True, I didn't think of that. At that point, maybe having some 'limited time only' merch would have been the way to go. That way people could buy the products they really want, instead of having to buy the whole kit.

Watching from a European perspective, I dont think one should generally mistrust in everybody involved in politics. The last 200 years of US history have been a historically exceptional success. So many great things have been achieved, there surely have been some good leaders doing good things from both parties. Mistrust isnt generally a clever attitude. There are still reasons to trust. But there is one very wise thing you said: The system wirh its tribalism and partisanship and only two parties does not work anymore, given the complexity of our time. Maybe abandoning the electoral college and the two-party-system, forbidding financial donations for political parties by companies and forbidding gerrymandering would be first steps. But I know that there are many wise scholars in your country discussing these things. I still believe in the creativity and strength of the American people. Its the best chance freedom has on this planet. You gotta stick together and develop a new deal for your society! Best wishes from Europe!
Thanks for kind words. Libertarian party is a good place to start. If you don’t really like either candidate, it’s not a waste to vote for a 3rd or 4th party. Keep doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome is well the definition of crazy by some. As Rudy said, some good democrats some good republicans and or their policies. Just surprised how much personal it’s become, and not ideals. I’ve lived outside the states for nearly 20 years.
Gotten a wider perspective, Europe seems to be banding more and more together (sad for Brexit but I guess currency control and immigration was a big topic).
Australia and New Zealand, plus north America with the EU and GB, let’s hope asean countries join more and more the work and trade basis of living.

I was a Patreon for a short time. Just didn’t like the way the shipping was. Booster boxes came in dinged as it wasn’t shipped well, but still a fan of the channel itself. Probably one of my favorite people to listen to.

I was banned from Rudy's Patreon for helping others find products that Rudy was no longer selling to them. Just commented with the best deal for booster boxes for a certain set (again, Rudy was not selling it) and then I was banned. No warning or anything... straight up banned without any partial or prorated refund. I thought it was a community and I was helping others, but I think Rudy felt I was going to do that for something he was selling.
Edit: I didn't pitch anything I have a stake in or back door stores... it was MiniMaxGames, Card Kingdom, and/or DAcardWorld.
It could have been an automated patreon ban if you were posting links or something. Who knows tho
@@jameslikesit I mean, I know and Rudy's team knows. No links... just names of places to find draft boxes that Rudy wasn't selling. Also, the notification you get will tell you if Patreon or the creator is banning you... and it was Rudy's team - according to the email notification.
@@vaderwashere365 I got banned because Patreon's payment system glitched and they didn't fix it for two weeks. I wrote Rudy an email explaining, but after they fixed my account he still has not responded. So now I'm banned for life because of Patreon's mistake.

Even though he is a smaller TH-camr in the grand scheme of things... he is too big to really care about losing Patreon members - even when there was no violation of his terms. Like he said, he doesn't have time to really look anymore and leaves it up to other Patreon members to handle a lot of it.
Again, not blaming Rudy and I understand his perspective. We are just trying to use real world examples that didn't fit in his explanation of who and when he bans. Like you said too... it is a lifetime ban, which is pretty harsh for no warnings and no communications from Rudy or his team.

Oil slick foil lands @5$ a piece on tcgplayer. That, factually, cannot hold. Compleat bundles cannot have 12 set boosters, and 50$ in foil lands, and 2 oil slick mythics, and cost 80, while having nothing change. The value of the bundle is insane, off the charts, if the price of the lands get chopped down the middle.
