I LOVE praying mantises, when I was little I saw one, so my dad picked it up to show me and i wanted to keep it so bad that he said that if it was there in the next 3 days we could keep it. (He said that because he knew it probably wouldn't be there and he didn't want to upset me) but 3 days later it was still there. So we kept in a cage ment for snakes, ( btw the only reason we kept it was because winter was coming and wanted to help it plus it was pretty young so she was with us basically her whole life) we fed it live bugs every day so that way it still knew how to hunt. And it actually grew to like us it would even crawl on my face and hair😅 and every day after school my parents would put on our curtains and have me find it we absolutely loved her but almost a 2 years later she layed eggs and then she died sadly😔😭, we even dug her a grave RIP cornelia I miss you! Anyway just thought I'd share that story since coyote loves praying mantises as much as I do.😊
so sweet❤️
Nice story
Wrote a whole essay lmfao

The praying mantis is my favorite insect. I think they're so cool. Have you ever seen a baby mantis? They are adorable
Their tiny heads look like pills it’s so cuteeee
They are so tiny! Adorable
Only insect I don’t hate
Watching Coyote get super excited about every creature he comes across, no matter how small, never fails to make me feel happy. His smile is infectious.
Praying mantis are so cool! Such majestic creatures. They’re really neat. Thanks for sharing this awesome creature with us!!

Coyote: “It looks *JUST* like an alien from another planet.”
Wait... have you had experience?
Next episode: We met an ALIEN in SPACE
Yep just going to find an alien in space going to talk about it in a video nothing's too special it's just an alien that looks just like a praying mantis not like praying mantis are aliens from outer space and they just are aliens secretly!
What’s wild is that people that have seen aliens have said they’ve seen huge preying mantis looking aliens, highly intelligent
I have once saved a praying mantis from a swarm of ants that were atttacking it. I blew the ants away and picked up the mantis by a leaf and let it go on a tree, surprisingly it was alive!
I thought you were on kindergarten
AZTEG 128 no lol
That game from kindergarten you were a kid that named nugget 😂
you should have given it mouth to mouth
You do know a mantis can kill anything up to a wild lizard
When I was a kid I caught a mantis and it lived with me for a few days, two days or three. I was little but I remembered that they love eating flies, so I went on getting some, tearing their wings and after that i fed the mantis. I had to highlight the fly with my little laser toy so the mantis would pay attention and grab the “food”. After a few days as I sad, my mantis had died, because he was stuck in his own skin. He tried to change it like snakes do, and i realized that although he died, he would have had wings in the new apparel. I don’t know why he got stuck in there, ind he was in there by his own for the whole day when this happened, so i wasn’t interrupting him. This is it, i just wanted to share the story of my pet mantis, thank you)
They need humidity to shed properly.
murdereeeeer
jk sorry for your loss
Awwwwww sorry for ur mantis its so sad though ..😭😭😭😭😭😢😢
You need to mist the container it's in to keep the environment humid with the moisture so it can soften the skin during its molt. I've raised a lot of mantis already and each one needs a different humidity
That's actually not entirely true. They very rarely cannibalize their mates. When scientists studied mantis mating behavior, they did it in enclosed habitats where the males were less likely to escape.
Usually breeders also make sure the female is either eating during the process or already fed

Help me Help you 173845 because someone actually knows something and shares a fact or truth about something it annoys you...? Are you trying to stay uneducated or enjoy being a dumbed down human.
@@sammyray6597 It's true though
Am I the only one that finds them so cute when they stare at you with those funny little eyes?
Also if I’m not mistaken, they’re the only insect that has pivotal head so they can turn their heads and look over at you to the side. So they can look left, right, up, and down too like a human can. Plus, the domesticated ones grow up to be loyal to you... they know you’re their owner and would wait for you to feed them like pets do. When they’re nymphs (babies), they run around super fast and lashes out a lot but when they’re older, they’re more calm and you can pick them up very easily and they just look up at you with their cute buggy eyes.
Love mantids, mine always loves watching tv or videos on my phone. The contrast of colors attract their attention.
She's gorgeous!! Also she is very calm and very friendly... The camera love her

I keep praying mantids as pets and they are so fun and amazing lol
Hey coyote, you should try finding the brittle starfish! They are on the coast of California .They are usually found in groups together. They are in low tide water or shallow pools. They hide in there only because their drawn by decaying organic matter, which is a favorite food to them. However the groups can include other animals.grab the same water their in because they hate when the temperature of their water changes. They are not poisonous so you don't need to worry about that.

Well... they dont always eat the males.... but... A good thing about the canibalism is that the female will have some extra protein for producing the eggs. ^^

One thing I love when spotting a praying mantis is that if you get in front of him, then move to either side, they will just turn their heads and look at you haha. Love those creatures!
Thanks🙏🙏
How is he not afraid of insects
Insects aren't scary. Lol . Personally, I love them
The man swam with sharks why would he fear anything? And have you seen all of the things he let's internationally bite him on this channel?
Humans are afraid of things they don't understand or know about. Coyote knows what to look out for and what is safe, so he has nothing to be afraid of. I'm no longer scared of spiders where I live, because out of the 12,000 that live here only 3 can harm a human. Try it, when you're scared of something just learn about it.
Because he's not a chicken like you
Jo Fountain well I'm afraid of most insects for some reason
Who knows this video that this guy found a praying mantis and put it on his skateboard then the mantis gets smushed by the skateboard 😂😂😂
i feel bad for laughed at that video

The praying mantis is one of my favorite insects! I love those spiky legs and it's hunting techniques. Love your videos Coyote!

Nope I hate them.
No, everyone that watches Coyote Peterson does so with huge distaste for animals and plants
My bad. I failed to consider the fact that gives the possibility of someone who has an aversion towards animals watching a channel that strictly promotes a positive outlook on animals.

i have a female s. carolina right now, the only native u.s. mantis. i take adult females i find in a few weeks before the first freeze and fatten them up with crickets and put all their eggcases outside around our neighborhood. i usually get 2-3 more egg cases more than if she would have perished outside with the rest of the insects. love watching them hunt.

What anime is that picture from
Coyote and I have something in common. He and I both adore the Praying Mantis.
I had two preying mantiii as pets as a kid. Schoolteacher had one (called Semolina) in a decent sized cage, well looked after, she used to catch insects (usually flies) and put them on. Anyway her eggs hatched mid winter due to the warmth of the room, so kids were asked if they'd adopt. So I got three nymphs (baby ones). Before they could fly we'd let them out, and they were almost had the personality of a kitten. One did escape but the other two were called Sago and Mitzi. The latter ended up being the highest flying mantis possibly as she was carried in her catering jar with special gauze lid, on a flight to see my grandparents. Always regarded the mantis as more than just an incect, especially the way they'd turn their head and look and even seem to be cheeky. Was sad when they died.
