I LOVE praying mantises, when I was little I saw one, so my dad picked it up to show me and i wanted to keep it so bad that he said that if it was there in the next 3 days we could keep it. (He said that because he knew it probably wouldn't be there and he didn't want to upset me) but 3 days later it was still there. So we kept in a cage ment for snakes, ( btw the only reason we kept it was because winter was coming and wanted to help it plus it was pretty young so she was with us basically her whole life) we fed it live bugs every day so that way it still knew how to hunt. And it actually grew to like us it would even crawl on my face and hair😅 and every day after school my parents would put on our curtains and have me find it we absolutely loved her but almost a 2 years later she layed eggs and then she died sadly😔😭, we even dug her a grave RIP cornelia I miss you! Anyway just thought I'd share that story since coyote loves praying mantises as much as I do.😊

When I was a kid I caught a mantis and it lived with me for a few days, two days or three. I was little but I remembered that they love eating flies, so I went on getting some, tearing their wings and after that i fed the mantis. I had to highlight the fly with my little laser toy so the mantis would pay attention and grab the “food”. After a few days as I sad, my mantis had died, because he was stuck in his own skin. He tried to change it like snakes do, and i realized that although he died, he would have had wings in the new apparel. I don’t know why he got stuck in there, ind he was in there by his own for the whole day when this happened, so i wasn’t interrupting him. This is it, i just wanted to share the story of my pet mantis, thank you)

Hey coyote, you should try finding the brittle starfish! They are on the coast of California .They are usually found in groups together. They are in low tide water or shallow pools. They hide in there only because their drawn by decaying organic matter, which is a favorite food to them. However the groups can include other animals.grab the same water their in because they hate when the temperature of their water changes. They are not poisonous so you don't need to worry about that.

Am I the only one that finds them so cute when they stare at you with those funny little eyes?
Also if I’m not mistaken, they’re the only insect that has pivotal head so they can turn their heads and look over at you to the side. So they can look left, right, up, and down too like a human can. Plus, the domesticated ones grow up to be loyal to you... they know you’re their owner and would wait for you to feed them like pets do. When they’re nymphs (babies), they run around super fast and lashes out a lot but when they’re older, they’re more calm and you can pick them up very easily and they just look up at you with their cute buggy eyes.
Love mantids, mine always loves watching tv or videos on my phone. The contrast of colors attract their attention.

But there are still really great tourist areas that are extremely gorgeous and lots of amazing creatures.

When I was a little kid, I was fascinated with insects, spiders and other creepy crawlies. The praying mantis was my favorite insect to look for in the backyard when I was a child & still is. I had some as pets over the years. A few times, my father would come to my mother’s house and surprise me with a praying mantis in a container. I had a cage for it to live in for a few months and then set it free. They’re pretty cool insects to find and they’re awesome to have as pets during the summer time.

One thing I love when spotting a praying mantis is that if you get in front of him, then move to either side, they will just turn their heads and look at you haha. Love those creatures!

I love the mantids. I just uploaded an experiment I did with the Carolina praying mantis a while back. The colors were amazing and were the focus of my video. Insects play a major role in my school programs in nature. Good stuff.

I had two preying mantiii as pets as a kid. Schoolteacher had one (called Semolina) in a decent sized cage, well looked after, she used to catch insects (usually flies) and put them on. Anyway her eggs hatched mid winter due to the warmth of the room, so kids were asked if they'd adopt. So I got three nymphs (baby ones). Before they could fly we'd let them out, and they were almost had the personality of a kitten. One did escape but the other two were called Sago and Mitzi. The latter ended up being the highest flying mantis possibly as she was carried in her catering jar with special gauze lid, on a flight to see my grandparents. Always regarded the mantis as more than just an incect, especially the way they'd turn their head and look and even seem to be cheeky. Was sad when they died.

The Mantis is just about the only insect I can see taking care of. I have never been bitten, they are super benificial. If they get swolen and turn brown, they are ready to lay egg sac. When they shrink they have laid the eggs and are dying. I have a 4x tatoo on my left forearm with outer space mix to accentuate!

One time when I was in elementary school I found a baby Praying Mantis on a bench. It was super tiny (about half an inch long) and it moved fast! I kept it in my hand for a little while before letting it go.
