Struggling to find cons I thought. I've just ordered one of these. Played a friend's and I was totally blown away. Non guitar players also spontaneously commented on how good it sounds, but the real strength is the way it feels in your hands.
Really, sharp fret ends was the con, everything else was pretty subjective. Fixing those is simple enough and I have a vid where I fix a different Fesley’s fret ends… I tend to be pretty picky with reviews because I want folks to know EXACTLY what they’re getting. That said, the real surprise to this guitar was the pickups. Fantastic sound for a sub-$200 guitar 🤘🎸
Very impressive for the price. I wish this stuff had been available when I was starting to play. We had to pay full MSRP for Epiphone back in the day before the internet.
So very true… When I learned to play, I couldn’t afford anything, so I had to borrow an old Memphis Guitar from a buddy of mine. I’m actually left handed, but had to learn right handed if I wanted to play… Ultimately glad I did, but it just illustrates that it was more difficult then for beginners. We need more guitars like this, because we need more guitarists… 🤘🎸
Just a note, and it goes for almost every review of this guitar(black one as well). Fesley are not sending these guys ringers. I asked a couple other reviewers and they got their boxes straight from Amazon warehouses, which seems to be across the board. So no one is sending these guys perfectly set up guitars with better specs or hand tuned and tested parts. That says Fesley is trying to do it as well as they can at the price point.
Interestingly enough, Scar reviewed this guitar on its first run and gave it a terrible review. I know because I watched it before I received this guitar. I specifically looked at the issues he had to see if this guitar had them and it appeared like Fesley fixed them. That’s one of the reasons I like and work with Fesley. They are actively looking to get better, they seek feedback, and they act on that feedback. That’s a rare find with Amazon guitars. Most Amazon budget companies are just looking to pump out cheap guitars and get them sold… I’ll have another Fesley review coming in the next month. Thanks for commenting and thanks for watching 🤘🎸
@FretboardDiaries My memory is lousy. Maybe it was the strats that had good fretwork? But yes, I hope they are improving. I don't mind one or two frets being up but I don't want to do the whole fretboard.
@ Indeed… and he’s done numerous reviews of Fesley guitars with others scoring very well… It was this particular model that he had an issue with. That said, it was clear from the one I got, that they addressed the issues and they responded to him on the video as well. Either way, I’m really stoked that folks can get a guitar like this for the price. When I was a kid, that was unheard of, so it’s nice to know that kids can get their hands on a good guitar for a budget price…
So there’s a lot of variables at play here to be honest… 1.) Are you buying it to mod it? If yes, buy the one that is the most attractive to you. You’re going to replace all the parts anyway, and both have good bones 2.) What kinda music do you play? If you play Metal/Hard Rock, go with the Fesley, pickups are hotter and more conducive to those styles. Do you prefer Blues or Classic Rock, then perhaps go with the Epiphone, as the pickups will likely sound better for those genres… 3.)Are you a beginner? If so, consider that the Fesley comes with a bag, strap, and a cable… If you buy the Epiphone, you’ll have to add the cost of those things onto it… 4) Epiphone has been around longer, and is a more trusted name… Will also have better resale value (although it’s a basic guitar and will still be low)… Ultimately, it depends on who is buying the guitar. Personally, I find the Epiphone boring, but that’s me. Some folks find it beautiful and conducive to their style of playing. It really comes down to taste… Hope this helps, best of luck 🤘🎸
Haha I was saying in another comment the guitar I learned on was an old Memphis, total firewood 😂 😂 😂… But it didn’t matter to me, because I had a guitar and could learn. Oddly enough, I’d give anything to have that same guitar back 😂 just for the sentimental value… If only guitars like this existed 30 years ago…🤘🎸
I truly believe WOLF AIO changed the face of inexpensive guitars…I bought a Wolf LP in 2017 for $400 and it is every bit as good as a $1500 Gibson. Since then the PRC and other locations have amped up their manufacturing equipment and tech..the landscape of budget guitars has taken a completely different direction, an outstanding one! What once was only big brands being able to afford the equipment, design and quality control is now affordable for no name factories on the come up, and many are making waves. It’s a dream for new players that might never realize the goldmine they have available to them vs even just 10 years ago. China guitars were junk, cheap piles of junk and now, well..just look at the Fesley here and so many others. Quality like set up, the finish and most of all they aren’t junk pinging and chiming away with crap tone. The fact a $200 guitar can be bought and give quality is crazy but it is here to stay. So get one and play your soul out!!
OMG, WOLF now AIO of California, I want to send a pic of mine that only cost $400 in 2017 full of Abalone, inlays, headstock, binding! It’s incredible on sound and quality. Out of the Cali shop they work directly with us buyers for your personal set up before shipping. It so worth checking out it’s a Brand that has serious momentum and stellar guitars. $450 Wolfs offer values triple that price.
“But I wrote the solo and don’t have to worry about getting a copyright strike against me”. You must be new here. I sure hope it doesn’t happen but with all the trolls out there it’s more likely every day. Happens to all TH-camrs. Best Regards and Best Wishes!
I’m not so worried about strikes as I am claims… If I cover something, and it gets claimed, I lose the monetization…. Strikes are pretty rare unless you blatantly rip something off. Sure there are ways for people to try and work the system, but so far I haven’t had an issue, been at it going on 4 years, so fingers crossed 🤞
@ The Ambient dood, chords of Orion, has had instant strikes after finishing live streams of his own, instant original tunes, by scumb@gs who troll. It’s happening more and more. I hope you escape untouched!@ Best Regards and Best Wishes!
Let me just say you suck! All along the way and I have been checking out this guitar I was 100% certain that I was going to order the black one. After seeing this one especially in the flat paint now I want this one. So thank you for making me more confused. -) When you were talking about what other TH-camrs have been saying about their name on everything that doesn't bother me. The way I'm looking at it is that day for proud of the product they are putting out there and they want everybody to know their names. I enjoyed the way you were playing you really had a good sound. I can say I always hit the like button before watching the video. I always think that is someone put effort into this the least I can do is the hit the like button. There has been a few times where I have to go back and uncheck the box. When I like the person who made the video and they are knowledgeable on what they are talking about I feel I'm obligated to subscribe. I know it takes you guys a long time to make these videos. Looking forward to watching more from you.
I really appreciate the comment man… I’m in the middle of a move and haven’t really been able to record or even respond to comments… but I love comments like these and it’s what makes TH-cam really worth it. Thanks for taking the time to leave this comment… Also, thanks for understanding the effort that goes into it… For us small TH-camrs, we are the on air talent, lighting guy, sound guy, videographer, editor, thumbnail creator, and of course, responding to comments. Ad revenue doesn’t really pay squat and I turn down a good majority of sponsorship requests (I accepted Fesley because of their hands off approach) So, for many of us, we do TH-cam because we enjoy helping people, we enjoy interacting with an awesome guitar community, and we also like the little bit of cash income on the side… So comments like these matter, and thanks for leaving one 🤘🎸 Thanks again for watching and thanks for the sub
Interestingly enough, it’s now listed as Techwood in the description of this guitar on Amazon. The listing changed right after making the video, so chances are, it’s Techwood
Just Hendrix it 😂 😂… Seriously though, I’m lefty too, I just couldn’t afford a left handed guitar when I was growing up and a buddy of mine lent me a righty when I was like 14… I feel bad for lefty’s man, the selection is soooo limited… I have a contact with Fesley and will make the suggestion that perhaps they offer at least one left handed model… Thanks for the comment 🤘🎸
I’m pretty confident the F stands for Fesley… 😂 😂 😂… That said, it’s actually more like an ESP Eclipse… There’s no arch top. I’ve had a blast with it though, been modding it since this vid… Fantastic budget guitar to mod for the money

I had a “terminator” with an amp built into the guitar from Ames department store lmfao
@@Guitargreat wow…. Ames…. my god I’m like 5 years old again… 😂 😂 😂… I think they eventually became Zayres right? Or was it Richway?
Dunno if it became anything... i know ames went completely under up here in the northeast.
Another great video! Thank you for a very thorough and helpful review and demo of this guitar.
Thanks Matt! Appreciate the kind words 🤘🎸

Just ordered one. Amazon had them on sale for $169!

Scarr usually finds all these guitars have level frets - which is something that most people don't vwant to do. It's really a good deal.
Interestingly enough, Scar reviewed this guitar on its first run and gave it a terrible review. I know because I watched it before I received this guitar. I specifically looked at the issues he had to see if this guitar had them and it appeared like Fesley fixed them.

How does it compare to the epiphone les Paul special 2? It's the exact same price on Amazon. $179.00
