      I'm not trying to stir the pot, but for the money you spend on Amazon guitars you could get a nice 2000$ PRS s2 and review it as a budget USA model. They are rarely looked at, and they recently got USA pickups and upgrades.

      @@wriglarzzz I think you miss understand how this channel works. The brands send me guitars to demo. I’m not buying them. I do buy a guitars when I find one I’m personally interested in. But I can say with absolute certainty that if I was spending my own $2000 on a guitar I would not be buying a PRS. Nothing against PRS, they are well built instruments, but they have no connection to my personal tastes.

      as a newbie to guitars in general I didn't want to spend a lot of coin on one that might be just a wall decoration. I looked at the sub $100models and watched a lot of u tube reviews. what i found were they looked cheap and/or had build issues, setup issues and used cheap hardware. i finally settled on the $140 fst 400m series. a bit outside my budget but a nice piece regardless. it needed a bit of setup however. the action was too high, truss rod need adjustment and a few frets were too high. fesley appears to be a new entry and i wouldn't be surprised if they release models costing much more in the future.

    I bought a Fesley strat style kit last month and I was surprised by the quality of the pre-finished 3 color sunburst body. Tbf I wasn't expecting much for the price so it wasn't hard to exceed my expectations. I bought a loaded pickguard with alnico slugs and aged yellow vintage color because the stock ceramic pickups are typical budget guitar quality. I did detect a coat of wax underneath the pickup covers though so that's a nice touch for anyone who uses the stock pickups. The neck also felt surprisingly good but the fingerboard was an engineered wood so I replaced it. I bend a lot and play hard so I need a hardwood fingerboard. I can't speak to the playability of the material for other play styles. I swapped out the tuners for ones that look like vintage klusons but have a locking mechanism. The included tuners were typical for budget and mid-range priced guitars. The saddles were the cheap die cast kind so I took some pressed steel saddles from my parts box and replaced those too. If I was forced to choose only one part to replace it would be the saddles and it isn't even close. I despise those saddles. Even with all the work I put into it I still paid less overall than I would have if I bought a finished body from one of the big parts sellers and I got a pretty accurate looking pre-CBS partscaster strat. It looks like a Fender Vintage II '62 and plays really well after a setup. Definitely worth considering whether you're a novice kit builder, looking for an inexpensive instrument and don't mind a little diy, or an experienced maker of partscasters looking for a cheap starting point.

    CNC gave an incredible edge to cheap guitars makers. In electric luthery adjustment and accuracy is what makes or brakes a product, give a cheap yet precisely build guitar some good pickups and you get in the ball park of great ones, way more than tone woods benefits that are mainly psychoaccoustic. In fact the main quality we need in woods is their stability so the guitar doesn't move over the years and it can be easily achieved with low grade woods just by cutting and gluing them back together.

    It is a 4 screw bolt-on neck & not a glued set neck joint. That's probably a win though, one can DIY shim without deconstruction for resetting the neck by a professional luthier. Can always swap out the black hardware for nickel or chrome, even a gold plating. And they did matte finish it to avoid polishing the polyurethane to a gloss finish. They did a fine job for $ 159.99- 179.99. Sounds fine, appears to be very playable out of the box from review videos. I just have too many guitars already, but let's say I need another should I sell off or one needs labor & pars repairs that make more sense to buy a new one ? This one is a solid option for consideration.

LOVE your use of pedals/effects and what you played to demo this.I guess the only thing I would add to this review is the thing that almost always is true when reviewing any guitar - that this particular guitar is great; and that an identical model from the same manufacturer might yield a different review. Just so beginners might understand it - I think that experienced players mostly know that without it being said out loud. But what a fun review and demo! Your joy in playing and how you play is so refreshing and fun to watch!

    They sent me one to review on my channel… Is it the best guitar on Amazon? No idea, haven’t played all the Amazon budget guitars 😂…
    Overall it had good bones, definitely a good beginner guitar or something for first time modders to learn to mod… Perhaps just a modding platform in general. It wasn’t without a few budget flaws, but I really liked what Fesley is trying to do, which is get beginners a better cheaper guitar… I also liked that they’re genuinely looking for feedback… Lastly, I saw you kinda glossed over the manual, but it actually has some pretty useful info in it for beginners, including what the guitar parts are called, and how to wrap a string around a post… Definitely useful for the first timers…

      @Thekodezone 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      What were the few budget flaws?

    • @FretboardDiaries
      @FretboardDiaries 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Thekodezone The fret ends were a little sharp… Not wildly sharp, like I’ve seen on some budget guitars, but sharp enough that it should be mentioned in a review… and I had one small surface blemish…
      That said, I feel like this guitar had great bones. Most beginners wouldn’t even notice the flaws, because they wouldn’t know what to look for. Most modders would find the flaws to be a simple fix, and find that this guitar has good bones.
      Lastly, the real surprise with this guitar was the pickups. I don’t want to drop links in Ryan’s comments, but if you look in my channel (shorts) you’ll see a demo I did with this guitar. Pickups were surprisingly good.
      So far, I’ve put a Guyker Roller saddle bridge and a Duesenberg style trem on this guitar. It’s been a blast to mod. I’m gonna do locking tuners and a roller nut at some point.
      Anyway, I digress,
      Both issues to me are typical of budget instruments, particularly instruments in the sub-$200 range. It’s important to understand, you’re not getting a custom shop guitar for $180, you’re getting a budget instrument that may or may not need a setup (and perhaps some minor fretwork) If you’re good with that, you’ll be happy with this guitar 🤘🎸

    I wish I had a guitar that well made when I started making fuzzy noises ..sounds good just clean too. All that nice wood and metal that was wasted making orrible cheopo lookalikes..the only choice for beginers/ hobbyists was "Used" Ibanez and Yamahas with Di-Marzio pickups in em. Super distortion and a PAF and we were on our way to the stars!!( for £70 without case). £1 cable and some "borrowed " pics were a treat!! You are all spoilt for choice..this Man found a real bargain which could be resprayed and it is basically a Les Paul special bolt on neck!! Cool.

    There's a pickup brand(Malagoli) that have big strong magnets on some of their pickups, like big neodimium bars, and uses these plastic EMG-like covers just to reduce the magnetic field, so they don't pull your strings... I believe active pickups also benefits from low magnetic fields to avoid microphonic or hum, letting the punch for the pre-amp...

    You mentioned the nut was the right elevation, but you didn't mention how the bridge was perfect intonation, which it was, and you also didn't comment on how the guitar stayed in tune right out of the box. Also the sweep of the tone control was wide and linear. This sounds like a damn good deal. It's hard to believe you didn't do some set-up on it before the show.

    I know this video is really old, but Bro, if you have chance to read it I just wanted to give a very good new to all that people who is interested on buying this guitar.
    I just got mine yesterday, and in my first over all check, I can tell you the Fesley people fixed (at least in my unit) 95% of all the defects that caused complain from you youtubers guys had almost a year ago.
    The gap between neck and body: fixed
    The upside down bridge: fixed
    The Sharpened frets: fixed
    The ugly name on the mide of the fretboard: Fixed
    The The slightly bend on the neck: fixed
    (Cheap Strings still sucking)
    So, I can assure you that now, this guitar is PERFECT for who wanna start to play this instrument.
    If I be you, I'll ask to Fesley to send me a current improved guitar to do a 2nd review and clean their image.
    I don't do it cuz I don't have a TH-cam content chAnnel, but you my friend have all the tools to do it!

    I've had cheap guitars that were better players than some of my expensive ones, and expensive guitars that were just off and not right enough that I never really liked them, let alone could justify paying what I did for them, so they were sold. In the end it's all about what feels good and really lets you be the most musically creative and expressive. That and not feeling like a sucker as you timidly play your investment, afraid of scratching it. It usually takes people many many years of experimentation and trial and error to realize it actually has little to nothing to do with price or brand. Bad guitars can be had it every price point, just like good ones anymore. It's surprising how cheap quality guitars have gotten. Almost as surprising as ones that cost 20 times more that aren't really that much better, let alone 20 times better. If this guitar can be made for this price, then exactly what are you paying for at $3000 or more? I'll tell you what. A lot of overhead, a sponsored artist's free guitars, an executive's Turbo Porsche, a small upgrade in materials and finish, and bragging rights for you. None of that really translates to a better result for a now guitar-broke, not even professional, musician. As long as the instrument is built well, and isn't holding you back musically from it's playabilty and sound, then there's really no need to pay more. "Man, if I just had that $4000 Custom Shop LP with the trans space purple finish, i'd have played that much better!" Would you really have? Doubt it.
