if it aint broke, dont fix it. my Sti is sooooo much fun. thank you guys for (almost) convincing me. actually all it took was a test drive and i knew it was the car for me. i just turned 57 and i love it
I was curious as to the difference in my 2016 which I picked up in January and this 2017. Seems like the only difference is the auto head light. I am reading posts saying that needs more power. Believe me, it takes 6 months for anyone to understand what the STI does. Once you learn and become one with the car, more power is overrated. This car is a beast. It's a high rev engine which is what you have to get used to. Nothing like my 03 Z06 which was a low rev monster. This is the only sports car that I have driven that allows you to plow through anything and not slow down for bumps or small pot holes.
This is a great video b/c the hosts' voice assures the potential buyer that this car is everything he is describing, which is exactly what you want in the car business. Also the STi is everything he is describing and those complaining about "outdated engine" or "more power" are simply trolling and repeating what others say. 305 at the crank is very good power even with 22% drivetrain loss its still ~240 to the wheels the EJ257 is FHI best boosted since the EJ22T hence its lifespan through 2020. Great review and practical talking points to the host If I were near you i'd visit the lot for a test drive.
Makes me laugh reading some of the comments. Moan moan moan, cheap interior, needs more power blah blah. Guess it must get boring looking at your car posters on the bedroom wall eh?
I'm tired of people bitching about the power. The focus rs has around 50 more horses and gets to 60 in .1 of a second quicker... .1Why "more power" is needed, I'm not sure? Maybe to brag about figures to make your ego feel better? I would love to see Subaru make an FA25 though... the FA20 is great and I'm loving my 17 WRX. Wouldn't mind upgrading to an STI in the future though!
this is my dream car. i want to custom order one whenever i pay off my civic si (in 5 years lmao). I hope that the body style for the 2023's is good haha.
The throw out bearing is an issue for the new FA engine. Some guy's getting repaired every 30k or so. STI is somewhat reliable even with o-ring issues. I'd wait for updates on both.
If you get snow where you live, get snow tires. Not that all-season shit, but Nokian Hakkapeliittas. Spend a little more, and keep yourself and your loved ones safe.
I want to get a new WRX but I'm worried they'll come out with the hatcheck again in 2018. I need a new car now though! With my luck they'd announce the hatchback design the day I brought home a new 2017 WRX
D Rock 75 Yeah. Check it out on reddit: www.reddit.com/r/cars/comments/4tprp9/are_there_any_cars_i_should_be_waiting_for/d5jg7z7?context=3 Some real info in there. Take things with a grain of salt, of course, but there are leaked product plans, interviews with execs from FHI / Subaru, etc.
100%!!!!! I couldn't remember what that was when I read your comment so I looked it up and remembered INSTANTLY! I remember seeing that years ago and thinking it looked so damned good. It's too bad they drifted so far from it. You can see hints but nothing like that overall look. Good call!
I KNOWWWW man!!! I Planned on buying one, then when it finally came out I was like "What the fuck is this trash? A damned evo??" So I said fuck it and traded my BRZ in for a 2013 STI. Like the older body style better than the new one.
June this year i purchased a '17 sti limited instead of '14 certified audi S4 because i wanted a new fun car and i had an '11 sti limited before and was happy with it. I had installed an aftermarket exhaust and it sounded very cool. Now my new STI has factory SPT exhaust installed. It seems like sometimes the drone inside is unbearable. I sometimes hear a empty tin can sound i think is from the exhaust and also i think the turbo sounds weird on hot days so i wonder if there is something going on with that. I have a wedding to pay for so i wont be trading it in anytime soon.
why does everyone consider a sports car to have x amount of horsepower? True car people will know that a true sports car is about doing every aspect well. Wow you go 0-60 in 3.8 secs, but can it corner, is it good in the snow ? didn't think so..lol
bb65346 yeah we live in a generation where most kids think if the car doesn't have 600+ whp, it's slow. Yet they've never driven anything faster than a straight piped civic.
How are the leather seats in limited I am debating between base Sti and limited just cause I am not sure if getting leather seats in a quick car like this one is a good idea please suggest , thanks , also are those wheels suppesed to be better performance wise then base black ones ? Thanks
Hello :) I'm trying to buy a 2017 wrx or sti. I don't know what to buy. I'm totally confused. I want a car for my everyday life but can be used for a small drag race. Yes, I will tune it. But I don't know what engine is perfect to modify. Will it be the new fa20? Or the old ej25? :( please help me!
Outdated engine and I don't like how long the dash is and how high you sit. Those are the three things that kept me from buying one. Gonna wait til 2019
What's the point of wasting money on a new STI when older models offer comparable performance? The newer ones look so damn plain. I'd get a used hawkeye sti and save $20K and call it a day.
Vamshi Alankar if you'd know a thing or two you'd realize that is the mpg he's getting at the moment, not the average. Another thing is that after a couple hours of sitting around, the computer resets itself, starting the average all over again.
Decent fuel economy you say? Bull. Absolute bull. I had a 2011 and was consistently in the teens. Average on all STIs is about 19MPG. That's worse then a loaded F-150. Think about that. Then again, people don't buy an STI for fuel economy...just don't tell people it "must be good economy....because it is only a 4 cylinder" because that is just bunk.
You are right, I didn't lease mine for fuel economy. I got it because it's more fun than a human being should be allowed to have. WORT EVERY PENNY!!!!!
Nothing funny about the Ford's and VW's interiors. They both look like they are cut out of a cardboard. I got the STI because it has a civilized interior. Much more refined.
Can't trust buying cars new with more than single digit miles. Got car salesmen and test drivers taking the car to redline in 2nd gear lol. GG break-in period.
Subaru is smart unlike most of these other car companies, once that make something that runs good it's best to stick with it or you're going to run into problems. look at the Ford F150 series the motor am transmission they had in 1995 was one of their best, then around 1997 they started tinkering with a few things and now the motor and Transmissions are s*** as for the newer F-150 no clue because it's too soon to tell. that's why it's best to stick with what's good
I have two words for Subaru. ringland failure!!! I've had two brand new stock sti motors with this problem in one year! I warn anyone thinking of buying a sti to understand they are defective motors and all are ticking time bombs. :( from 05 to the current models
dark2520 a chevy suburban . . . That intake hood looks like it has no purpose other than looks(a turbo really doesn't need that huge opening) and the wing is GIANT and looks like it creates *too* much downforce to the point where the 300 horses won't be very effective at higher speeds. Otherwise the car looks great, just not digging the hood and wing.
well, the intake hood is there because of the intercooler, which is just under it because of the flat boxer engine. usual cars have it at the front, so the don't need the hole in the hood, cause the air goes through the front grill secondly, the wing is now more like an icon on this car, and the reason why it is so big is so you can see through it with your rearview mirror :)
Yea, in the past, regular nonSti wrx's or just impreza RS models had no wing. Just look some pictures up on google. The car looks still great but with a different feel. Depends on the taste. Personally, I think that the wing makes it optically longer and without the wing the car has short butt. But still a beast :)

Subaru WRX still kick ass! Love the speed and performance.

Next generation needs a twinscroll and power/reliability buff.
This guy's aura is so cool great review dude, if I lived up north I would definitely come just to meet you, as well as test me some sti baby.
this is my dream car. i want to custom order one whenever i pay off my civic si (in 5 years lmao). I hope that the body style for the 2023's is good haha.

I wouldnt buy one until they update that old engine. id rather get a regular wrx
I can't wait till I get a new job to get my hands on in one of these babies.. Good Luck Bro!!
Base STI is the way to go.
Yep, :D
I've got to hand it to Morries, investing in that new media content. Well done!
my 07 cant turn headlights off unless i pull brake up a bit.
heated seats now, omg turning this beast to a baby
as the owner of a 2016 WRX in the next lighter blue I say... a nice video!
#feelthelove
Morries Minnetonka has some of the best Subaru deals in Minnesota.
I really like those rims
The new ones are nice but 05 is still my favorite.
Let's talk about the engine.....which has been around since oh.....2004ish?
they need to replace the motor for the 2018 with a twin turbo flat 6
450hp stock!! this is very possible
If you get snow where you live, get snow tires. Not that all-season shit, but Nokian Hakkapeliittas. Spend a little more, and keep yourself and your loved ones safe.
so mad i didn't realize this color looks so good
LMAO "You'll love it. If you don't get arrested." Thumbs up for that alone. haha
I WANT IT! no scratch that. I NEED IT! rally races here I come
Still no new drivetrain? I tell ya, I'd go for one with hybrid assistance to give it even more power and better mileage in the city.
Hey, it's David Blaine!
Focus rs is the way to go
I just wished they add another turbo to be a twin turbo and to give it more boost
"go out, drive one, buy one, you will love it. ......if you don't get arrested." LOL
loveeee this car.
I want to get a new WRX but I'm worried they'll come out with the hatcheck again in 2018. I need a new car now though!
With my luck they'd announce the hatchback design the day I brought home a new 2017 WRX
Lease
Viken Shirinian , maybe.
Thanks for the input
Not likely. I saw some leaked product plans and it said sedan only from 2019 - 2022.
elusivellama , Really? Good to know. Thanks for the input.

They need to fucking release the 2013 concept gawdddd dammmitttttt
100%!!!!!
I couldn't remember what that was when I read your comment so I looked it up and remembered INSTANTLY! I remember seeing that years ago and thinking it looked so damned good. It's too bad they drifted so far from it. You can see hints but nothing like that overall look.
Good call!
Is this something we can start a petition for ? lolollol
I KNOWWWW man!!! I Planned on buying one, then when it finally came out I was like "What the fuck is this trash? A damned evo??" So I said fuck it and traded my BRZ in for a 2013 STI. Like the older body style better than the new one.
its a nice car , fun to drive
Best model year in my opinion. Needs a better engine though in my opinion.
pronto voy a tener el mio
Did they pour dirty dish water on the car before the shoot? Looks like crap..
June this year i purchased a '17 sti limited instead of '14 certified audi S4 because i wanted a new fun car and i had an '11 sti limited before and was happy with it. 2.5 !!!!!!!
Still no updated engine
entertaining review!!!
does the 2017 models still have the ringland issue?
Anthony lawrence no
Um, same wing... from the previous gen I think...?
why does everyone consider a sports car to have x amount of horsepower? True car people will know that a true sports car is about doing every aspect well. Wow you go 0-60 in 3.8 secs, but can it corner, is it good in the snow ? didn't think so..lol

bb65346 some peeps are just fucking ignorant bro.
Needs an engine update and new clutch/gearbox. Also, bring back the hatchback Subaru.
Best Subaru design is new STI!!! ''
i want something that can drift good cause i know this is awd but does it drift????
Damn man. you are such a good sales
How are the leather seats in limited I am debating between base Sti and limited just cause I am not sure if getting leather seats in a quick car like this one is a good idea please suggest , thanks , also are those wheels suppesed to be better performance wise then base black ones ? Thanks
4 cylinders sound good?
never heard a subaru before?
Neither had I until i started one and 3 months later ( i ordered it my way) i have one and don't think will drive another make again.STI is a monster
well damn i guess the car must good lol because i lost count after 3 times that he said "it's a lot of fun"
Damn anyone else notice that guys golfers tan
there's a wing difference between the 16 sti and 17 sti?
Hello :) I'm trying to buy a 2017 wrx or sti. I don't know what to buy. I'm totally confused. I want a car for my everyday life but can be used for a small drag race. Yes, I will tune it. But I don't know what engine is perfect to modify. Will it be the new fa20? Or the old ej25? :( please help me!
Needs more power
cobb v3 accessport ecu flash does this car absolute wonders with power gain.
+Besi X needs more power stock
a "sports car" in 2017 should have more than 305 stock hp
Agreed
It's not always about horsepower.
AWESOME
I getting one
I'm looking into get into one of these.. 2017 base model wrx sti. Do the boomerang lights work on it? Or is that only other wrx sti models?
has plenty of power even stock
I want one. Forget EVO ...
Outdated engine and I don't like how long the dash is and how high you sit. Those are the three things that kept me from buying one. Gonna wait til 2019
I'd run more boost
I love the car. But the gas milage..
You buying an almost-rally car for gas mileage?
Wow
Most people aren't buying this for rallying.
you can buy WRX with direct injection
Vlad Coste What else Would it be? Carbureted?
says the guy with a charger as his pic...
spend about 10k to good power
So open it up and let her go for goodness sake
How many times will u say: "fun to drive"
they gonna update the engine and launch it with a hatch... then id throw the money at it.
What's the song!!!
What's the point of wasting money on a new STI when older models offer comparable performance? The newer ones look so damn plain. I'd get a used hawkeye sti and save $20K and call it a day.
superrok420 warranty
I will buy this car by April 28 2017☝
Michael Jimenez Next Friday my boy
yay they upgraded the interior but everything else is the same
Not sure where having a big wing effects trunk space on a stock factory car?
Didi I see 6.9 miles a gallon? wow
Vamshi Alankar if you'd know a thing or two you'd realize that is the mpg he's getting at the moment, not the average. Another thing is that after a couple hours of sitting around, the computer resets itself, starting the average all over again.
the new sti engine will have 300kw engine same one fj 20 in the new my 16 wrx with more power
Hopefully you got rid of that pesky cold! :D
Decent fuel economy you say? Bull. Absolute bull. I had a 2011 and was consistently in the teens. Average on all STIs is about 19MPG. That's worse then a loaded F-150. Think about that. does it have UNequal length headers?
yep
this sti 2017 looks same like sit 2014.
outdated engine
how so ?
maybe because the sti has had the same engine for over 10 years??
cause theirs no direct competition, mitsubishi left the scene with their evo :/
+Noah Elliott yep. and they haven't really increases the power number either. same old tired engine with the same old 300hp
+Captain Rogue focus RS?
Shit EJ257 engine. Wait for 2019.
Outdated engine, Subaru Sti needs to pull there finger out seriously. They are falling way behind against the Ford Focus Rs and golf r.
Yea and this weaker engine gets shitty gas mileage. Like if you're gonna be slow give us good MPGs
Funny, the RS has more power and yet it is not any faster than neither the R or the STI
Nothing funny about the Ford's and VW's interiors. They both look like they are cut out of a cardboard. I got the STI because it has a civilized interior. Much more refined.
Viken Shirinian Thats such an oxymoronic statement.
They falling behind the Ford Fusion Sport 💀
immediately shows us under the hood...my man
what the hell! they don't have that paint color here lol
Can't trust buying cars new with more than single digit miles. Got car salesmen and test drivers taking the car to redline in 2nd gear lol. GG break-in period.
Same fuckin engine, same fuckin thing. We need more power or a new engine it's just boring now
BLA BLA BLA
Need more power? Need a better fucking looking one you mean!. Haven't made a good looking one since the 06-07
Get a Focus RS

I just wonder if they ever fixed the ring lands issue. Otherwise the EJ25 is a tank.
this guy is an old picture from 1997!
I have two words for Subaru. ringland failure!!! I've had two brand new stock sti motors with this problem in one year! I warn anyone thinking of buying a sti to understand they are defective motors and all are ticking time bombs. :(
from 05 to the current models
really don't like how riced out it looks from the factory
Wtf are u talking about. I wonder what shithole u drive to really think a subie looks riced.
dark2520 a chevy suburban . . . TomB now that's a much more friendly comment. interesting design on having the intercooler up above. the wing just doesn't dig for me.
Yea, in the past, regular nonSti wrx's or just impreza RS models had no wing. Just look some pictures up on google. The car looks still great but with a different feel. Depends on the taste. Personally, I think that the wing makes it optically longer and without the wing the car has short butt. But still a beast :)

Old tech. Sales drop off this year. Off a cliff.
aw man I don't feel like im relevant anymore with my 2016 sti =I. jk awesome cars.
they are slow right
yeah they are nice but they are slow for today standars....I raced one in my 03
nissan manual n he beat me by half a car till 110 miles I was coming for him....n my car is 13 years old with 190k miles on my vq
what you mean the sti is......I'm waiting till they change the ej25
whats wrong with the EJ25? is a old proven engine that u can demand 500HP without burning your wallet.
@ Guy Bro
As you get older and wiser, you will understand that good things last. There is a reason why they haven't changed it. IT WORKS and works well.
I'm giving a thumbs down for every guy for even CONSIDERING putting "all season" *cough cough* "tires" on that car and every other car in this class during the winter. still looks ugly compared to the promised looks of the concept one.... haiz
vicerine22 how can you call that ugly?!
vicerine22 it's he best looking sti since the 22b although I likes the German car look of the concept
The interior always seems so cheap on these.
54000 dollar car here
did you really say "super boxer"? smh
USA always have the poorest paint jobs on cars. Geez. I can see the orange peel from here.
Chocolate Pistons, no thanks!
