Nice one! I am close to releasing a fully procedural geometry nodes setup to make any books with any number of pages that can be entirely animated and auto textured using the real printing files for a book!
@@KwameGyanko Indeed, mine is mostly a cleaned up version of the setup I made for commercial book showcase for hardcover, paperback, magazines, spiral and wiro, a bit of a different use case than the existing ones.
For anyone going crazy because the hook modifier doesn't work as shown in the video, in blender 4 and higher you have to select not just the point in the bezier curve to assign to the hook but also all the handles attached to that point. So select all three dots (the center point and the two handles on either side) and then hit assign. hook modifier now controls rotation
Nice vid! How did you solve the “weird” fake pages distortion after applying the new material to the tops of the fixed pages? You point to the modifier stack as the cause, but the video skips over how you solved it. TIA

I ended up doing something similar with empties, but it took me ages to work it out. My final version had a very slightly diagonal curl as the page turned, to make it look more like the pages were being turned by hand.
is it possible to add a burning/disolve effect on the pages as they turn? In order to illustrate the strophe "Time still turns the pages of the book it's burned" from A7X's masterpiece "So Far Away".
Cool idea. Yes it would be possible, you'd have to use a gradient in the shader and a noise node and feed that into the alpha and do some emission on the edge for the singe. This could be a good tutorial I think.
Nice Blender rig here. I've been looking for a way to do this for FBX anim export to UE and the like. Is it necessary to use armature/bones for that? Can you bake this kind of anim to FBX? I've tried, and it always imports back wonky. Thanks! You rock.

Sorry EliseFox25 that must have been a frustrating experience. I’ve experimented a lot with trying to monetise the channel but it hasn’t always worked out well. I should consider warning people better up front instead of doing it as an afterthought. Thanks for sharing your experience.
@@CBaileyFilm I appreciate the reply, I understand it's tricky to monetize something like this. Perhaps making tutorials that give a full flow from start to end, and then a paid extention after that where you take it to the next level. For example, after this tutorial you could go and add mood atmosphere, dust particles flying around, creating this old looking scene, animated camera, rendering things out. Basically turning the tutorials from a teaching moment into a portfolio piece. But cutting out trouble shooting on purpose all the way at the end leaves me with a feeling of distrust and unwilling to support you further.
@@EliseFox25 Yes, please make it more clear. I was questioning my abilities so much, because my page didn't bend like yours. I noticed few cuts but not this one... hope I will find it somewhere else
In 2:06 how do you get to split the edge symmetrically? I selected the whole edge with alt just as you did and then Ctrl + B but somehow I can only drag the edge to bevel to one of the covers, leaving two differently sized covers.
i tried to the copy rotation in 4.1 doesnt make the flow of the sheet of paper flow with the other side of the book only rotates the edge of sheet unless i was doing something wrong
i was thinking of making an Iron-Man suit for the next video using the Grid Modeler addon or other free addons (i only need free addons) if that's alright?

You missed a section on having a different page texture on either side of the bezier page
