There are two ways to do it: 1) By using a set of tiny bones and an armature inside the rope, or 2) By using the technique discussed here 👉 th-cam.com/video/GvgLDdxXeYE/w-d-xo.html by replacing the chain links with very small size spherical pieces that will constitute the rope. While both the techniques can give us a realistic rope action in general, they are difficult & cumbersome to implement. I did not like those approaches. Would it be possible to apply the following path on the curve? because the motion of the block is fixed on the pully, with rigid body simulation
If it is just a pulley and a block, it can be done in many ways - it's not very difficult. The problem is, after the pulley rolls completely, the block and the rope will come to one side and fall from the pulley. Now they must behave realistically. Both should follow rigid body physics when they reach the ground, and the rope must show cloth behavior as well, and at the same time the block must show its influence on the rope since it is heavier, while it still remains attached to the rope. The best way to do all these things together is still not known. If we keep them just on the pulley and not allow them to slip from the pulley, it becomes easy. If nothing better is found, we have to fall back to that "limited" approach only 🙁
Follow curve can be used definitely for that "limited" approach - you are correct! Also our Easy Bend geometry node can be used for the rope by animating the bend position of the rope. I did not proceed much on these routes since they do not support falling of the rope or the block from the pulley. So far I have been looking for a technique to create a generic rope, but in vein 🙁

This looks simple and effective, but I feel like it lacks modularity and flexibility because it relies heavily on animation. What if I want to offset the page flipping independently of the page deformation? This method causes these two separate operations to depend on each other.
I hope I understood you correctly. This does have a lack of flexibility because some of the angular values are kind of hard-coded. They'll change if we change the page size or the flipping duration. But it's not hard to get the new values after a little bit of experiment, we have given the leads. But I think you are talking about a different thing. You want to control the deformation and the flipping separately. The way I look at it is, flipping is not one single action, it is a combination of rotation and deformation of a page simultaneously. I observed real page flipping, and concluded that these two actions are inter-related when a page flips. So there should not be a need to disconnect these two. And if you mean that you want to use a different interval or a different duration for different pages, you can just shift the keyframes for both the actions (deformation and rotation) for a page by the same amount.

AND WHEN YOU TEACH GEOMETRY NOODES IN 5 MINUTES AND 45 VIDEO WHEN YOU RETURN AND TEACH HOW TO GO UP TO THE PLANE MINE IS NOT GOING TO SELECT EVERYTHING AT ONCE AND I REALIZED THAT AFTER A WRITTEN COLLECTION PAGE ANIMATION APPEARS WHICH I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW TO DO IT MAYBE IT'S THAT'S WHY THIS ERROR
Hi, I'm glad it helped 😊 In order to add two different images or two materials for the two sides of a plane paper you can watch this tutorial 👉 th-cam.com/video/oSIluVR4jSI/w-d-xo.html
Hi, if you could help me answer one more question, I would appreciate it when I'm applying materials, like in the other video, you teach how to apply an image to each side of the page, in case I wanted to put a color on the page and apply the texture or logo etc on top so I can adjust the color parameters as in the main BSDF but applying only the image as you teach, it is not possible to control the influence of reflection etc. it is just matte, can you help me how can I make some knots? to apply?
Yes. Use a picture or logo with a transparent background (should be in a format that supports transparency like png format). Now you can add two BSDF in your shader, one has a static color and another is connected to an Image Texture that has your picture/ logo file. Now use a Mix Shader to mix these two BSDFs, and the Mix FAC should come from the Alpha output of the Image Texture node. So the logo will display as it is, but for the transparent part it will display the other BSDF having a static color (and you can customize the properties of this BSDF). Exchange the BSDFs if you get exactly the opposite result of what you need.
Hi Praveen, Blender does not yet support any special characteristics related to magnetism or electricity. If you want to show a magnetic field or an electricity flow etc, you need to implement that yourself with circles, arrows etc. I can understand that it might be important for a particular physics subject, but from animation point of view it would have very little technical values. It only needs very basic animations.
Great video however, I'm stuck at the 5m53s part. When you created the stack of papers, did you use the geometry node? or duplicate the papers? I tried using geometry node to create the stack of papers but now all the pages flip at once, not the one on the bottom.
We used a geo node. But please note that this stack of papers has nothing to do with the animation. Keep it as a separate object, then add 4 more papers (4 separate objects) that you'll flip. If you want to flip 10 papers, you need to add (duplicate) 10 papers one above another. But your paper stack will remain separate, it is not linked to the papers you are flipping. This stack is not mandatory either, you can skip it as well if you like.
Press the left mouse button and hold it, drag the mouse down like you are selecting 3 rows, then release the mouse. All 3 fields will be selected together, and if you now enter a value it will update all 3.
Possible, it will be better to use cloth physics in that case along with a wind force. It will look more real in that case. Let us bring a tutorial on that 🙂 Thanks for the idea 👍
Thank you for this clear tutorial. However, I have a question. How can I influence the location of the bend? Now the bend bends neatly in the middle of the sheet and I want the bend to be closer to the empty. Is that possible?
Thank you for liking this tutorial 💝 Yes we can change the posotion where the page bends, it will need a change in all the calculations but it is possible. However, if it not in the middle, it may look odd after the bend since the left side and the right side won't match in size.
@@5MinutesBlender Can you tell me how I could do that? I use the principle of the page flip you explained for flipping sheets on an animation disc. Is There a way I can show you what I'm making? Then I think your answer will be much more specific.

Hi, this tutorial was made using Blender 4.0 beta version, but it does not use any sophisticated method, so it should work with any 3.x or 4.x version equally.
Hi, I am not sure if we can export this animation. The animation is created purely based on modifiers and Blender does not natively support modifier exports. We can only export one single frame after applying the modifier, so exporting the whole animation is not possible yet. There may be some 3rd party tool to enable this feature, but it is natively not yet supported as far as I know.
at 5:30 when you transition to next step, you start working on 'papers' which you never showed us what to put there so im kinda lost. appreciate any help i love the way you make tutorials!
It is simple. At that point in our tutorial, if you check the outliner, you'll see an object called Papers. This is just a name, this object is nothing but a simple plane which you can add from Mesh > Plane. We then attached a Geometry Node to it, which we explained in the next step. We did not get into the details of this node because it was covered in depth earlier and that tutorial link is mentioned in the video description. This node will convert that simple plane into a bunch of papers. These papers are not taking part in the animation, they are just creating a background for our flipping papers. If it is still not clear, please let me know. I will explain in details.
@@5MinutesBlender wow, that was my question until now, I sent you a message, I was dying to learn, so I came to the comments and this angel also asked you this question, which is my same question, now I managed to do it, I was applying the nodes to the place where the animation was and that's it. on another plane lol thank you very much your explanation cleared up all the doubts I might have had, thank you very much

That "papers" object is just a collection of some static papers. What we did is, we tried to create a book. But only the first few pages flip. So for the rest of the pages, we just created a bunch of planes, joined them together and named them as papers. They do not flip, they do nothing, they are just there to create an impression of a book underlying the flipping pages.
Which plane? Can you please share the timestamp from the video so that we can help with an explanation? Usually we skip very trivial steps that are too obvious, we try not to skip any important details. I will still check if something was missed.
@@5MinutesBlender when you hide the parent and empty but didnt told to hide the plane ,,,at 5.25 its visible and after 5.30 its hidden already you didnt told about.....actually im a bigginer sometimes its hard to understand somepoints its like why, how, when.....you understand what i mean.
@@sebastianshultz9528 Ok, I get you. Actually we have two parts of the tutorial. The first part ends at 5:29 and the second part starts at 5:30. I can understand that you might feel a bit lost between the two parts, but if you know the basics in Blender, it won't look difficult. What we did in Part 2 is, we applied the knowledge of Part-1 (single page flipping) to a complete book or a bunch of papers (multi page flipping). You may need to prepare your scene as per your requirement. Hiding of the plane as you mentioned is not actually very important. Even if you don't hide them it will work the same. Later when you render, you might see the difference, you need to hide the objects that you don't need.
You need to add a texture for the material of the page, and use your photo in that texture. But it's not that simple because you need to add 2 different photos on 2 sides of the page. It can be a little tricky. You may watch our tutorial on how to assign two different materials (two different photos in this case) on two sides of a plane 👉 th-cam.com/video/oSIluVR4jSI/w-d-xo.html and here is one real example 👉 th-cam.com/video/la41EvhcuJg/w-d-xo.html
To know how to add two different pictures on two sides of a single page, please refer to the initial part of this tutorial 👉 th-cam.com/video/la41EvhcuJg/w-d-xo.html
At 5:30 under your scene collection you suddenly have 'Papers'. Where did that come from? I cant select the original page and when I try to move it up the stack the whole stack moves. Do you know what I did wrong?
That "papers" object is just a collection of some static papers. What we did is, we tried to create a book. But only the first few pages flip. So for the rest of the pages, we just created a bunch of planes, joined them together and named them as papers. They do not flip, they do nothing, they are just there to create an impression of a book underlying the flipping pages.
The geo node is added for the stack of papers underneath the real papers that are flipping. These papers are different from the stack. You can apply the geo node for the stack (or leave it as it is) - it has no relation with the flipping papers. We need to add flipping papers separately as shown in the first half of the tutorial. We are adding a stack of papers only to give it a look of a real book, this stack has no other role to play in the animation. I hope I could explain it.
@@Sairawkerh Yes, the stack of paper is made from another plane of similar shape and size, but it is a different plane, not the one which we animated for flipping. I am really sorry if I was not clear on that in the tutorial 🙁
@@Sairawkerh The object named as "Papers" in the outliner is originally a simple Plane (to which we have added the geometry node). The flipping papers are under a different collection (named as Page Animation).
@@5MinutesBlender In your video, the"plane001" is shown as the instance node generated. How can I apply the materials for each page to "plane002," "plane003," etc.?
@@stickmanunivers5si9dOk, so what I understand is, you have a single material linked to all pages, you need to assign a separate material (separate image) for each page. So just select the pages together, and go to the menu option Object > Relations > Make Single User > Materials. It will assign a separate material for each page. Now you can attach a separate texture image for each of these page materials. I hope this is what you wanted to know, otherwise please send me your blend file (5minblender@gmail.com). By looking at your blend file I might get a clue what you are trying to ask.
To simply duplicate any object, you need to select it and then press Shift-D. If it has an empty or parent attached, you need to also select them in order to duplicate the whole set.
It turns only one page at a time. In fact, in order to turn all of them we need to repeat this process for each page. But if all your pages are turning together, I think you made some mistake somewhere... maybe you have parented the empty to all the pages or something like that. Hence the action is impacting all the pages. Please check each step thoroughly. You can also take help from our free add-on link given below.

Before 5:30, the scene collection only shows collection and then you suddenly transition and I see page animation below that. I am confused as to how that happened. I wish you went into more detail on creating that.
It's the same thing as you see before the transition. Let me explain. Before the transition, we saw how to flip a single page. After the transition, we only moved the relevant objects into a collection called Page Animation. It contains the same objects (for one flipping page) that you saw before the animation. But why did we move them inside a collection? Because we want to now do this for another page. So we will get more objects copied from the first set, so to organize them separately, we moved these objects into a separate collection.
@@5MinutesBlenderThank you. I really know nothing about using Blender and your tutorial is the first one I tried because the result is exactly what I needed. I want to have the pages flip with 28 different pages having its own image. What should I do to move the relevant objects? Should I right click on parent and then copy and paste?
@@Dark_eVaderTo move the objects into a collection (as you see just after the transition), right click on the outliner panel and add a new collection. Then drag and drop the objects into this new collection. You need to move the page (named as plane), the empty, and the parent - into this new collection. Later you'll copy them for the second page, then for the 3rd page etc. This is explained in the tutorial. The only part where you had a confusion was related to the new collection. I explained it above. If you still find it difficult to understand something, please let me know. I will explain once more 👍
@@5MinutesBlenderThank you so much but there is still a bit of confusion. Also on 5:30 aside from Page Animation, you another plane called Papers. I have created a new collection and also renamed it Page Animation and then moved both Empty, the Parent and the Plane into that collection. Is Papers a copy of the Plane? I tried to copy the Plane and paste it under Collection but then it also created Parent.001, Empty.001 and Plane.001 where as I only see Papers.

So for the rest of the pages, we just created a bunch of planes, joined them together and named them as papers. They do not flip, they do nothing, they are just there to create an impression of a book underlying the flipping pages.
Someday I will try that as well, it is in our plan. Cloth sim can produce far more realistic actions without much manipulative keyframes, but cloth sim can be also difficult to control - for example, the pages will turn irregularly, multiple pages can flip together etc. These two techniques have two different use cases I think. Surely we can manipulate even cloth sim to turn page by page, and that will be the focus of our tutorial when we do this. Thanks a lot for igniting the ideas! 👍
@@5MinutesBlender : You could cloth sim one page, bake the simulation when it's to satisfaction and from there use geometry nodes just as you would with keyframed bend modifier. In this case, however, it's probably better to fine-tune the keyed bend modifier. Cloth sim would be better for hyper-realism but you'd lose the non-destructive properties. The way you did it here is probably best for the intermediate user and is of better use to far more people 👍🏽
@@5MinutesBlender : Btw ... I just made an electric motor in Blender (4.0) and used an empty to guide material transparency. It's a great way to accomplish a "cutaway effect" and might be useful to user who wish to create this effect but don't want to use the boolean tool. Might be something you could use as a topic for a video. edit : I mailed you an example.

Great video
Glad you enjoyed it 😊💝💝
Sir, if you read comment of your subscribers, plz make a video on ... Magnetic field produced by circular- current carrying conductor

Hi bro, I have never heard of infinite zoom 🤔🤔 Can you please give me some pointers or examples to understand this better?

Press the left mouse button and hold it, drag the mouse down like you are selecting 3 rows, then release the mouse. All 3 fields will be selected together, and if you now enter a value it will update all 3.
is it possible to make the pages to detach the book and fly in the scene?

Hello, good morning friend, what version of Blender did you use to make this tutorial?
Hi, this tutorial was made using Blender 4.0 beta version, but it does not use any sophisticated method, so it should work with any 3.x or 4.x version equally.
it's good for beginners! thanks
Glad you liked our tutorial 😊💝💝
Can we do this with after effects?
I think it is possible because they also support Newtonian physics simulation, but I don't have a real experience.
Hi guys, I wonder how can I bake the animation when it's done and exported it as glb format. Thanks!

The paper option came from somewhere. And more than one paper was not made. plz guide
That "papers" object is just a collection of some static papers. What we did is, we tried to create a book. But only the first few pages flip. So for the rest of the pages, we just created a bunch of planes, joined them together and named them as papers. They do not flip, they do nothing, they are just there to create an impression of a book underlying the flipping pages.
missed some details like when did you hide the plane ..
@@5MinutesBlender thanks ,,,i got it.
How to add phothos
You need to add a texture for the material of the page, and use your photo in that texture. But it's not that simple because you need to add 2 different photos on 2 sides of the page. It can be a little tricky. You may watch our tutorial on how to assign two different materials (two different photos in this case) on two sides of a plane 👉 th-cam.com/video/oSIluVR4jSI/w-d-xo.html and here is one real example 👉 th-cam.com/video/la41EvhcuJg/w-d-xo.html

WHEN I APPLY THE GEO NODE 5:55, and click the page, the pages are all selected that we add on GeoNode.. Im stuck here for a week? please Help 🙏
@@5MinutesBlender You mean the stack of paper is not made from the First page(i.e Plane) ..? I click the plane and enter to Geo node? Is these wrong?
@@Sairawkerh Yes, the stack of paper is made from another plane of similar shape and size, but it is a different plane, not the one which we animated for flipping. I am really sorry if I was not clear on that in the tutorial 🙁
@@5MinutesBlenderBut how, i didnt see any mesh in Outliner to make a stack of paper?
@@Sairawkerh The object named as "Papers" in the outliner is originally a simple Plane (to which we have added the geometry node). The flipping papers are under a different collection (named as Page Animation).

excuse me ,how do you set rhe texture ,if you have only plane 001🙃
If you have only one plane, you'll set only one picture for its texture. I guess I did not get your query, can you please explain it for me?
@@5MinutesBlender
In your video, the"plane001" is shown as the instance node generated.
5:30 how to add or duplicate page?
To simply duplicate any object, you need to select it and then press Shift-D. If it has an empty or parent attached, you need to also select them in order to duplicate the whole set.
how can you make only 1 page turning ? i followed ur instruction but the all the pages turns at once

Hey sorry for the late response. That "papers" object is just a collection of some static papers. What we did is, we tried to create a book. But only the first few pages flip. Or ... use a cloth sim
