The Top Two Places to Visit In Da Nang, Vietnam?!

    The two best places recommended for us to visit in Da Nang, Vietnam were Marble Mountain and Lady Buddha. Today we visit these top destinations in Da Nang to see if they live up to the hype. These destinations are favourites in Da Nang for tourists, but we had locals recommending these places as well.
    At first, we were not sure if these were worth the hype or just super touristy attractions, but after talking to many locals, almost everyone encouraged us to go check out both of these beautiful wonders. We actually visited these attractions over two days because we found it much more pleasant hiking and walking around in the morning. Afternoons are truly meant to be spent at the beach or pool or a shady coffee shop or beach bar.
    We spent over two hours exploring Marble Mountain one morning. Known for its caves filled with Buddhist sculptures, temples and lookout points, we arrived early, hoping to avoid the crowds. There are many caves, lots of stairs to climb up to lookout points, caves with narrow and somewhat sketchy entrances and even some really small cave entrances to climb through if you are feeling adventurous and up to it (which we were!!) It is a lot more than just the caves! There are gorgeous and historic pagodas, temples and beautiful flowers, gardens and trees all over once you get exploring.
    We would like to give one pro tip here that we do not discuss in the video. That is that if you arrive by taxi or Grab, there may be a local vendor who wants to show you the best way or the best entrance to the Mountain. Politely say "no thank you" because, they may insist or just follow you and act as your "tour guide" to the entrance. In our case, the friendly lady was waiting to whisk us into her shop where some very persistent sales tactics unveiled themselves. So just make your own way and don't engage, other than to say "no thank you" and avoid our mistake with being too friendly ;)
    We also visit Lady Buddha, who sits on the Son Tra mountainside and from everywhere along the beach in Da Nang, you can see her off in the distance. She looks beautiful, set against the dark green landscape of the mountainside. Even on a hazy day, when you couldn't make out the green foliage, you could generally see the glowing, bright white, massive Lady Buddha through the fog and haze. So we had to go see her up close and personal. It is free to enter and a short 15 minute drive from My Khe Beach. Once you are there, you are greeted by beautiful gardens, trees, pagodas, temples and if you go on a clear day (which we did not), lovely views of Da Nang. We didn't get to see any monkeys, but they are often on the grounds as well.
    We take you along on our visits to these places to give our honest opinion on whether these are worthwhile destinations to visit if you are in Da Nang.
    We hope that you enjoy the video. We certainly have more amazing things to show you from Da Nang, so we hope you will continue watching our entire Vietnam series as we have more to come! Thanks for watching! Cheers! 🥂

      Hahaha! We certainly did! Wine is not as cheap here as it is in Europe though Peter! We opted for many more mango smoothies this month!! ...and local beers.....and of course occasional wine 🍻🥂

    @4:50, the "dung chan" and "dung xa rac" are not names of the caves/temples. They mean "rest area" and "do not litter".
    The inside of the caves/temples look unreal, like something from the movie. VN have such great natural wonders. Their topography seems very diverse too from North to the South. Love your positive attitude by the way.

      OMG! LOLOLOLOL. We are laughing so hard at ourselves right now!!! Thank you for letting us know....wow, all of the vietnamese people must be laughing at us right now 😂.
      Yes, inside the caves ... the beauty cannot be captured on camera, but we tried. We cannot wait to explore more of Vietnam and experience the diverse topography for ourselves!! Thank you for leaving us a comment, we really appreciate it 🙂
      We always try to keep it positive. Travelling to new places can have its challenges, but we are so grateful we can experience it! Thank you for watching! ❤️

    Wow those stairs! Does the elevator go all the way to the top? Or is it still a climb from where it takes you? Recovering from a knee replacement….think that’s a bit to a stretch to test it out 😂 looks amazing though.

    • @mitchandjan
      @mitchandjan  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh wow, this is not a knee replacement friendly place!! LOL. The elevator goes pretty far up, but you would not likely want to climb to the two peaks that we went to. You should be ok to see most of the caves however! There are some stairs to go up and down once the elevator takes you up, but you should be okay with those (based on Jan's dad's mobility after his knee was replaced). You will still be able to get into the amazing, large cave to see how beautiful it is too! Just don't descend into the cave - you can see it all from the top stair really!! ❤️
      What is the countdown at now?? Or are you off??? We are so excited for you guys!!

      @@mitchandjan hmmm yeah guess I’ll just get to do the elevator part then 😩😂 we’re not in Vietnam till December hopefully I’ll be a lot stronger by then 🤞
      We head off to start our travels in 38 days…Omg it’s coming up so fast. Pete (hubby) retires in one week today then it’ll be madness getting everything sorted to jet off. Can’t wait 🍾

Cheers! 🥂

    I’m thinking about going there next year how hot is it there now?

    • @mitchandjan
      @mitchandjan  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This time of year, it gets to highs around 28, feels like 30. It is generally around 25 in the morning and evening or if a rain comes through, it will cool off. We talked to other expats and travellers who really liked Da Nang's central location - Hanoi is still cool this time of year and Saigon/Ho Chi Minh can be a lot hotter. They like Da Nang's hot, but not unbearable weather. We loved Da Nang! And so much to explore around there as well. We didn't get to everything we wanted!

    Please be more respectful , don't wear short clothes when you visit pagodas , temples , churches or any holy sites in Viet Nam

    • @mitchandjan
      @mitchandjan  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We meant absolutely no disrespect and followed dress codes that were posted, but you are right. It would be better for us to air on the side of caution and always have knees and shoulders covered when near any holy sites ❤️
