I’ve been making these as well and I add a small dot at the top and bottom of my image to mark where the center is so it lines up perfectly on both sides. Works perfectly!
Hi Angie!! I just ordered your Sub Organization Binder….thanks for the GREAT DEAL!! I have everything I need to sublimate - just haven’t taken the plunge yet!! Don’t know why I’m nervous about it…..I’ve done crafting and sewing most of my life! 😊 These wines spinners are adorable - I can’t believe you found blanks to sub on!!!
hi angie i missed the camp for campers for sublimation but i did get jennifer makers sub cook book and i love all u guys stuff its great and i hope to get more inspired by you both thanks again alicia foor
Angie, these are so pretty. I can't wait to make one. I had a design I found in DS and it's a print then cut, size is 8 in. It won't print because it's too large and there is file print size limitations in DS. Is there a work around for that in DS? When you find something in DS that someone did I figured it would be ready to go. But its too big. It's a Sunflower wind spinner in DS. I will try yours too but I own a pack of 6 so I thought I'd make them all different. Thanks for any help you can give.
Thank you sooooo much for this excellent tutorial! Just did my first sublimation wind spinner following your instructions and it went great! But, of course, I forgot to peel off the plastic coating on the side that I wasn't sublimating - so I had to clean that up. But, I'm super excited about this project. Thanks again!
I have been wanting to do wind spinners, love the way they look and work. Thank you for an awesome video! I was worried about the bending of the rings, but you're video made it straight forward to follow! Thanks again!!🥰
I had it working with the template after a month I wanted to make the spinners. We use to put the size in on the right under the layers and it won’t come up to put the size in
❤🎉 ive been watching sublimation how tos for a while. I ordered some spinners, and flew by seat of pants making first one before looking how to. It turned out, but now watching how to. Lol. Yes. Im backwards
Thanks Angie for your easy to follow video. I mistakenly bout the 10" spinner not realizing I can't printer wider than 8.5". I'm going to order these smaller ones soon.
Thanks for your instructions. My final wind spinners are vibrant , but have a little haze on them that you can see when tilting them against the light. Yours look crystal clear. Do you have any advice?
Thank you for the video. I wanted to ask you if you would do a short video on how to sublimate photo in the center of the wind spinner. Also, if you are concerned about the UVA rays, Krylon makes a clear spray that protects items placed outdoors from fading, etc. I use it all of the time and it really works.
Lovely video instructions. Can You please tell Me , Why my image does not transfer all the ink ,when sublimating as Yours does. I seem to have a lot of image left. even though it will work out .
I love this video! It was so informative. I do have one question, if you don’t have a firmer mat, can you just double over a thick towel and use that? The only night I have right now is the easy press one. I would’ve never thought about needing a firmer mat for something like this, thank you for that tip!
If I may...what size is the inside circle that you put your picture on? Love your videos, have learned so much stuff. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks...lol have a great day everyone.
I am having a problem with the Wind Spinners. The first time doing them I had no issues they came out beautiful. In the last few weeks I have been making them and when I tape the design on and press it, it is coming out showing my tape marks. I am using the heat resistant tape. Do you have any suggestions I could try? I just don't understand why all of a sudden this is happening. It is very frustrating. Thank you!
That probably wouldn’t be thick enough. You can try the EasyPress mat I think. Just notice if it is deforming the wind spinner and affecting your sublimation.
I have a question I am using the cricut easy press but what do you lay the spinner on when you press I see you are using a black piece under your spinner
Since these are likely going to be outdoors, what should be used to protect the spinner and sublimation from rain and sun. I’ve heard sublimation doesn’t hold up well.
Hello. I bought same exact wind spinners on Amazon. I did not see any protective film and even felt for it. Is that normal with certain sellers? It comes with a sleeve. I sublimated anyway and it came out beautifully.
Angie, could you actually walk us through how to design and print one in some kind of software? Everything I've been researching I can't get them to line up quite right and I'm off a bit. Plus the templates I find aren't quite like my spinners they're missing like one extra ring I've got like 6 outer rings but all the templates that I see show like five or eight or something like that. Just curious how you line it up and print
Hello Angie. I absolutely love your channel. I've been pressing my wind spinners, per your info, at 385 for 225 sec. I've seen everywhere else at 385 for 60 secs. I'm wondering if something has changed since you've posted this video. Have you tried to press for a shorter time? Please advise. I don't want to ruin a spinner since they aren't cheap. Your time works great but it get so hot and if I can reduce the time that would be great.
For all sublimation blanks, you should follow the recommendations where you purchase them. Each supplier is different. The ones I used called for that time and temp so that is what I used.
Angie I only have an f170 I got some 8inch spinner blanks will printing the desin out 8.5 by 8.25 work for this size? I saw you said make the design bigger but didnt hear how mcuh larger it needs to be
I think I would do samples that you form like this and have hanging. Then you can have the ones you are going to sell flat for easier storage and transport!
Question on the photo windspinners that you did Angie what size do you recommend for the photo, I am thinking about 4.75" would that be what you did yours look perfect for the picture.
@@AngieHolden Thank you Angie I ordered the same spinners from your link, I am switching to a different brand that does not have the protective plastic, these are shipped in a protective bag for each spinner and it comes with heat tape.
Thank you for the great tutorial. I’ve only seen 10” ones, and I only have printer that will print 8 1/2 x 11 or 14. Have you done one for the 10”? Beautiful.
Hi, the wind spinners came out great. I’m also going to order the 8 inch. I had previously ordered 210 inch wind spinners, but my printer doesn’t print big. Would you be able to tell me how to piece together an image so I could fit it on the 2 10 inch spinners? Hi Angie I’m trying to do a wind spinner with a a background and picture like you have in this video. However you don’t show how you did the picture do you have a video on that? I’m so stressed, I use canva but am still pretty new with it can you please help!? Thank you

Angie I ordered the large silicone mat that you had the link to. I am going to be using my large Cricut press. My question is, should I remove the cricut mat and not use it if I'm using the silicone mat?
Hi Angie, you did a utube dtf powder comparison video, I really liked it but can’t find it on utube any more, did u take it down, if not, can I get the title from you to locate it?
I would probably ship flat with a link to a video of you fanning one out. You can host the video on TH-cam for free and give them a QR code or link to access.
So i understand that you print your pattern out thru Canva. But dont you have to have sublimation ink and what kind of printer? Not sure how all that works?
@AngieHolden ok thank you I'll try that. I have it set to the sublimation settings you recommended. It was alot of black wondering if that might have been why to
I was thinking about that also, since I don't have a sublimation printer. I bet it would work just fine. You'd be limited to what's on the sublimation sheets and whatever design you wanted.
ive been wanting make a wind spinner my ? is can wind spinners be done on any heat press ? because i cant find no info on anything using my press thank you :)

You could also use Infusible Ink (they are 12” sheets) to form an outer frame and cut the center to place your sublimated design.

My guess would be either your blanks or too much pressure. You can try an adhesive spray instead so there are no marks.
Thank you
Thank you for the vid. I ordered 2 spinners 8 inches for my 9x9. I don’t have a thin mat but was wondering if I can use a silicone kitchen mat?
That probably wouldn’t be thick enough. You can try the EasyPress mat I think. Just notice if it is deforming the wind spinner and affecting your sublimation.
I have a question I am using the cricut easy press but what do you lay the spinner on when you press I see you are using a black piece under your spinner
It is an Artesprix heat resistant mat. I feel it works way better than an EasyPress mat for things like this.
Since these are likely going to be outdoors, what should be used to protect the spinner and sublimation from rain and sun. I’ve heard sublimation doesn’t hold up well.
The sun is an issue. You can add a UV protective spray over them.
Did you calibrate the sublimation printer with Cricut Design Space before doing the print & cut?
You can however for sublimation you don't really need to cut unless you are doing sublimation on HTV or using something like Easysubli.

Hi Angie, you did a utube dtf powder comparison video, I really liked it but can’t find it on utube any more, did u take it down, if not, can I get the title from you to locate it?

So i understand that you print your pattern out thru Canva. But dont you have to have sublimation ink and what kind of printer? Not sure how all that works?
This is sublimation ink printed on sublimation paper on a sublimation printer.
Hi i followed your video and for some reason its bleeding through on some spots on the back side. Do you know what would cause that?
Sounds like the ink is blowing out around the edges. Print with less ink.
@AngieHolden ok thank you I'll try that. I have it set to the sublimation settings you recommended. It was alot of black wondering if that might have been why to
Yes black is notorious for blowing out. Try altering to like a plain paper setting to use less ink.
Getting same bleeding with bright color ink too. How do you use less ink setting?
Can you use a dtf printer to make wind spinners or just a sublimation printer?
I have not had luck with DTF on hard surfaces. I would do sublimation for this one.
Love this idea!! Can you use Cricut infusible if you don't have a sublimation printer?
I was thinking about that also, since I don't have a sublimation printer. I bet it would work just fine. You'd be limited to what's on the sublimation sheets and whatever design you wanted.
Of course!

What size did you print the photo for the middle
I just measured the center of my wind spinner and make it about that size.
I followed your link to the spinner blanks. $84 🇨🇦! OUCH! But did find a Canadian supplier!
YAY! I just linked to where I ordered from but there are many places to purchase I am sure!
How do you create the file so your picture is round and fits perfectly in the center of the wind spinner?
You don’t have to. Overhang just will go on your paper.
Can you tell me the size that you print for the image for subliamtion and what software you use to print it out please
I used Canva and just made it a little larger than my wind spinner.
Why, when I go to take my heat tape off, it pulls the design off with it and leaves a white showing underneath? It’s heat tape I’ve used before with success so I don’t understand why all of a sudden it’s pulling the design off with it?
It is probably that your sublimation blank is poor quality and the coating is not adhered properly.
Some say press for 60 seconds. Amazon said like 3 minutes. Which should I do?
You should do whatever it says where you purchase your blanks. Each blank is different.
how did you make the picture design please
I just added it in Canva.
How do you avoid a seamline on a 10" spinner?
If you only have a small printer, you really can't avoid it.
@@AngieHolden figured that out. I finally succumbed to 8"
Would you use the same time and heat for a heat press instead of an easy press?
I generally use whatever they recommend where I purchase the blank. And yes the same for both.
I swiped up on my mobile but not seeing a desription
Depending on how you are watching there may be an arrow on the side that you should click.
How can I do a wind spinner using my cricut explorer ? Transfer ink paper?
