    One weakness in Shekharji's relentless comparison between the mature Americans and the immature Canadians: I wonder how the Americans would have reacted if we had gone ahead and killed this Pannun fellow. I can't help think that American response would be less mature!
    And this is front-page news in American papers it seems, which say a serving GoI employee was trying to assassinate an American in the US.
    Further two RAW officers have been kicked out of the US and the new RAW chief in DC has been blocked from coming.
    Finally, this case makes it clear that US intelligence knew that we were trying to kill multiple Sikhs in Canada and California earlier this year (May). So the whole "nobody believes Trudeau, there is no proof, the world is with us" angle is again the usual self-deceptive thinking that we Indians are prone to.
    So I feel Shekharji's dance about the American response being somehow more "respectful" of India, professional, etc is just wishful thinking.

    I am surprised about a few things - first : how did this Sikh man (Pannu) get citizenship in US. For most US-bound Indian immigrants go through a rigorous security check which takes years to ensure that the immigrant is not a criminal/terrorist. Since GOI labeled this guy as a terrorist, how did he get American citizenship? For an ordinary immigrant , if GOI labeled you as a terrorist/criminal how likely is it that immigration would allow you US citizenship? If US allows terrorist to be citizens, then they are either incompetent or concomitant with Khalistanis. Secondly, it would be a madman act to be dependent on America for protection against China. I had assumed that Quad was a diplomatic trumpcard to do bidding against China, with the understanding that India will have to compromise with her northern superpower neighbor. US-China are former allies against the Soviets, I don't really understand this strategy. Is it a good strategy to be an adversary of your superpower neighbor? Very surprising indeed.

That is the first step before extradition. What hasn't India done it? Just because India says, extradite one of your citizens, the other country has to respond. They have to prove in a court of law in that country that Pannu is a criminal and has committed crimes in India (not in the US) before an extradition request can be make. If he has committed a crime in the US, then India can request the be tried under the US justice system and be punished. In any case, you have to first prove the crime in a US court.

Whether the charges are borne out in fact or not, it does seem to be a pretty amateurish operation, but will most certainly serve to damage India's reputation considerably.
    The best India can do now is damage control, and that includes not just cooperation, but a total condemnation of such practices - no more defensiveness. The US has done this with a great deal of sophistication, and India must respond likewise, otherwise, India's rise will be set back very, very significantly.

There will be a learning curve for Bharateeya agencies in this new style of operating, but surely they will get more sophisticated with time. I would like to more smoothness, and at the same time a harder edge, from the MEA when responding to these allegations. For example, "India convicted", complaint by an MEA official was a self-goal and unsophisticated. CC-1 means coconspirator 1. In the US, whoever is not actually indicted is not named- because the unnamed coconspirator has no way of clearing his name in court. CC-1 has a straightforward defense- he will say that he wanted to "smoke out" the counter-intelligence operatives in the US. Hence the dumb moves. CC-1 will say: "Nick" approached me . and I saw this as an opportunity to discover counter-intelligence in the US. I have not committed any crime in India or in the US.
    Shekhar: There are similarities between alleged activities of Jagtar Singh Chohal- Jaggi hired people over the Internet and traveled to Paris to pay someone from a terror group. In every country, drug dealers and low lifes are ready to kill
    Nick Gupta: Why did he travel to Czech Republic? A sense of impunity?

      That’s a very important insight. One more thing that intrigues me is how nobody on the Indian side reacted once Nikhil Gupta was arrested in Prague on June 30. If he was a powerful agency’s man, there would have been some reaction, or at least an outreach to the US since the arrest was on their demand.
      There is still too much we do not know about this case.
      Thanks for writing in...best wishes, Shekhar

    What could be the possibility that indeed it was a deliberate operation done in a manner where SIG INT part was left open so that it can be tracked and then could be used to deal with Pannu and his aids, one it gives us a bargaining chip to sideline this guy or relations will get affected, two to let the world know that be aware of us, we're arrived in that league of states and three this domestically plays well for the Prime Minister and his government.

Also you are saying some dumb Intel officer, you're highly wrong about the intelligence world and how they operate. Agencies don't work in the way you're thinking.

    • @QabilAGhor
      @QabilAGhor 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@yomamasohot6411 That's simple. The US would then ask India to extradite CC1 or at least allow FBI team to interview him. If India doesn't allow that then Indian government would be seen as blocking the investigation and thus assuming guilt. So, it's not going to be easy.
