Same for the 14 lane expressway (now part of Meerut Expressway) from Delhi to Dasna. It was a 2 lane road arlt some points and 4 lane at others and unauthorised colonies all around it. The road was proposed by Atal Bihari govt during the end of its tenure. It remained on paper for the next 10 years of UPA before being revived by Mr Gadkari and now it's such a relief to use that road.

All credit goes to Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde. When Fadnavis was the CM, Eknath Shinde was his PWD minister, and both of them managed to get this project going against all odds. The only reason why the project didn't stop during the dark days of the MVA, was that Shinde became the urban development minister.

@@pushpindersingh1819 producing children is the reason we came to a place where Environment has become polluted. More people need more housing, more land for agriculture. How about you give up your farms and plant trees in place, because agriculture is literally the leading cause of deforestation throughout history. The reason Haryana and Punjab have around 3-4% forest area. Building Infra solves the problem by making sure cities become viable and livable. So, that housing can be solved vertically, instead of taking up more space spatially.

He was charismatic. Modi is good in it's own way and that's what India reads right now but Nehru did a lot of right things in his time. Nehru's unchallenged mandate allowed him to lay the foundations of Nation Building. Without that, India wouldn't have survived the separatism and insurgencies it faced in 1960s. Both Pakistan and Bangladesh, much smaller nations than India and way less diverse fell for military dictatorships. Pakistanis are still confused with their identities. Those are basic problems. Without solving those we couldn't have thought of building infra.
Same goes for Indira. Infact, Indira was very similar to Modi in many ways.

My ex boss once said that Indians are great at building new things but loose interest in maintaining them. The Mumbai Pune expressway is one such example. Started off with so much gusto and now an absolute nightmare to travel on due to heavy truck traffic. We should involve world class traffic engineers to plan the traffic situation in our cities. In Pune where I live the metro has had a luke warm response. No parking facilities, no landing area or footpaths planned for pedestrians, no last mile connectivity plan in place. They just don't think it through coz we are so jugadu in nature and planning doesn't come naturally to us.

Who the f**k gives about who envisioned and planned the project when they shelf the project for 60 YEARS. 100% credit goes to NDA gov to execute this project. I am 100% sure, if NDA gov didn't lay the foundation of this project to start the construction in 2018, this project would have been in "planned and proposed" for the next 60 years too

Sir, Id like to quote Mr Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore, on his advice to the then PM of India Manmohan Singh
Why don't you make Mumbai an autonomous and self governing city financially ?
If that was done Mumbai could have been like Singapore. Cities need to grow but unfortunately politician who are city builders are punished during immediate elections only to be later glorified and remembered. CBN and KCR are case in point man there are many more.

Unwittingly you have highlighted the issues with coalition Govt. The delay in project is because in coalition govt. things will not move as onus is always on the other party. The irony is that the media is putting all its effort, money, time and creativity to sell an even bigger coalition party (INDI Alliance) to people of India to replace BJP. The coalition till date has not spelt out is vision for India. It does not have any visionary leader, nor do they have leaders who can drive growth and complete projects on time. All the leaders in INDI alliance have proven records of super delayed project or incomplete projects.

Thanks to the Print for highlighting the entire story and not just brag about the bridge.
The question is to be asked why NDA is winning everywhere? Especially the so called COW BELT? Or Hindi heartland??
Well looking at the construction and infrastructure projects by current government, be it Trans Harbor line, Mumbai Metro, Coastal road, Missing link on Mumbai Pune Highway, to Ram Mandir, to Kashi Corridor, To Mahakal Corridor, To Samruddhi Marg, Mumbai Delhi Highway, Bangalore to Mysore expressway, Delhi Dehradun, western and eastern freight corridor, Raipur Vijaywada Highway, Statue of unity, Shivaji Maharaj statue in Mumbai and thousands of such projects....
Do we have any doubt about the previous governments intentions?? Especially looking at the infrastructure projects nearing our borders like roads on the eastern front with China, India to thiland highway or on Western front the Jamnagar Amritsar Highway...
It is very clear that UPA and earlier Congress government was rather working under contract with China or something else to be what we are today....
Thanks for having a bright and powerful NDA government and we are sure we will have them for a couple of more decades to reach a place we deserve...

very good elaborate analysis of Mumbai's trans harbour links.(based on Manasi Phadke's reeport). It was good to read that finally your mind is allowing you to report and call 'spade a spade' in crediting H'ble Modiji's government in developing and delivering comp;ex infrastructral projects that'll take the state of M'tra and subsequently our great nation to the desired height of progress. Like you've correctly said that earlier govts.did promote these ideas of developments BUT they remained on paper for want of the WILL to plan and execute. Difference between the govts.has been 'NAA KHA UNGAA NAA KHAA NEY DOONGAA' WITH ONLY NATIONAL INTERESTS AT THE HELM, BACKED UP BY AND POWERED BY GOALS TO ACHIEVE IN TIME POLCIES.( HOPE UR CONSCIENTOUS AGREES) VANDE MATARAM.

In the 1970 MTHL was stalled because the erstwhile CM Vasantrao Naik had his fingers stuck in the South Mumbai - Backbay Reclaimation - pie. Development of Navi Mumbai would cause that pie to crumble.

Big cities development, Railways and highways infrastructure is the drivers of growth, these projects should not be prolonging,
Bangalore suburban railway conceived during 90s and started during 2023, though revived during 2017, but due to state governments apathy and negligence it was delayed,
    Same with Metro, slow progress.
