The KBB knock-off of this Prime has been my first Transformer since the late G1 era, that one has the arrows on the arms painted. I still have it but one of the struts of the bumper broke off, now it's a partsformer. The wheels are still rubber but haven't deteriorated yet and they are pinned rather than screwed, for 12 Euros including delivery it's pretty good.
You know what I like more than extremely accurate robot modes? Accurate transformations. And for the cherry on top, make the vehicle accurate. Like, yeah I love Earthrise Prime, but something I've noticed is the Optimus torso-twist is getting more and more popular, which is neither accurate to the animation or even the original toy. Over time I've noticed Earthrise Prime is very good, but it can be better. Basically, I want to be able to recreate the animation in say, stop motion, without having to skip as many steps
I'm not the kind of guy who riots when a figure has faux parts, sometimes it's hard to get stuff like prime's angled chest right. But dang man, it's so visually pleasing to see tyrant's chest slide inwards like that, it's such a cool design choice!
i personally got the KBB ko's of these 2 for 2 reasons 1 i couldn't find these anywhear and 2 they weren't that more much more then actual official legends figures (which are now au$19)
@@DrLockdown I've heard really good things about them. I actually just ordered one a few days ago and am going to get a Cyclonus to upgrade. I can't wait to animate them.
@@DrLockdown Yes yes. I had been looking for them for a while and the second I found out about the reissue I scooped up an order. Does this figure get reissued often?
@@DrLockdown this is the first time that I heard that KBB became Black Mamba became Transform Element became Deformation Space. Do you have a video or thread where these connections are discussed more fully?
@@DrLockdown No they’re definitely the same company still. Both were saying they are out of the game at the same time and magically both listed all their previous figures for re-issue at the same time. They also both said they left due to their designer leaving for a short period. DX9 even made a Movie hotrod that continently worked right along the UT movie cast and was engineered similarly and uses box art almost identical to UT’s. And now with UT saying they returned, all of a sudden DX9 started releasing re-issues.
0:51 thanks to your video I'm gonna get a KO of tyrant. Is Dutch also a worthy pickup and would picking up a KO of him alongside tyrant be worth it in your opinion or nah?
Short version, you can usually still get them out normally, maybe you need to take a hobby knife and scratch out the head so you can screw it out, then just give the screw a bit of a soak in vinegar or something and give it a scrub with a wire brush, and that's usually enough to clean it off. You can even put a thin pass of clearcoat over the top to try and create a barrier to prevent it from happening again. (Just go gently when screwing it back in as you can scratch the clearcoat off)
Frankly I think the Optimus puts both magic square and new ages primes to shame Like this thing has both the windows and grill be real, with a pretty uncomplicated transformation, and that still looks pretty G1 accurate while having paint that seems quite durable, with the only cost (in terms of accuracy which both companies care about) being a wider and more squared look, when newage had both window and grill be faux parts with really bad paint chipping from what I've heard (mostly from that toy guy) and magic square having the windows real but apparently being a bit over compleated Man those two should be taking notes from generation toy in regards to Optimus Prime engineering
Only the Magnus has paint chipping with new age. I have the toy style, one friend has powered Convoy, and another has five different decos of the new age mould. It's honestly fantastic. The thing about faux parts is everybody loves them until they realise the damage doing everything 'real' can do. I'd rather have faux parts than have everything engineered like alien attack.
@@DrLockdown ok yes I don't hate faux parts either I just think they're like kibble, if they can be avoided without compromising anything then they should be, but if not oh well I won't be loosing sleep over it, this is where I think the new age version fails as from product photos, the seam between the faux windows and the rest of the torso is so glaring that its never not distracting especially with both sets of headlights being visible making it look even more out of place, plus generation toy already showed how it can be avoided, I'm not saying to 100% copy what GT did I'm just saying that they should probably be taking notes on what GT did with their optimus
Too small. And the legs kept popping of. I had it after this generation toy prime but replaced it with mft propskypillar which is solid and big for a legends scale prime. But Ms-toys looks better. Thinking about getting him. That will be my prime no 4 :)
They ran a crowdfund and never delivered, running off with everyone's money, mine included. They booked maketoys factory to produce it, never paid them and then left maketoys without anything to produce over the covid pandemic, almost killing the company. They also never gave the money owed to the Unrustables team, forcing them to cancel all future figures.
Id it bad that I want to see a fiagnosis insanity on 3rd party companies? Just a vid explaining on how some companies succeed while others fail. (This is mostly so that I can know more about the maas toys situation and maybe get some love for the unrustables.)
I'm more questioning why they decided to name this Optimus "Tyrant" of all things. I could have given it a pass if it were a SG Optimus, but this is bog-standard G1 Prime.

I always love seeing how someone could make a legends scale optimus, His design just intrigues me.
Yeah, Hasbro's only done it several times.
But a 3PC's take on it is always welcome.
That Optimus transformation is genuinely amazing. I love the way the chest works

Perhaps you'll like MP-10v.
A downscaled MP-10, just in case you're not aware.
Less steps, just as beautiful, and only barely taller than ER Prime.
Have that one. Liked it, but I get more fun out of the Earthrise version
@@DrLockdown Agreed. MP-10v looks prettier but it sure as hell ain't as fun as ERP.
