Bro is only slightly late
I was expecting him to put 22 and 23 together
...this was already 40 minutes...you want me to die from exhaustion? :P
@@DrLockdown 42 minutes and 33 seconds acutely
@@telaviefilms280.
@@DrLockdownabsolutely not.. so now we need legacy ranking and 2022 best and 2023 worst and best. Not to much to ask for, right?
Man I sure can’t wait for worst 23 of 2023 in 2027
Also can’t wait for the top 27 worst of 2027 in 2157
@n00blolreturns only took 130 years
Best of 22 by 2026 surely
The reason bumblebee soundwave is sad is because his best friend was sold separately
and one of them didn’t even get to be in the movie
and his friends both are awful on top of a bad soundwave
Which has been the case for years at this point
“I would have waited an eternity for this”
And it isn't bad comedy.
Since this video is around 1.5 years old, it's almost like a time capsule. Like "Oh yeah, that was what was happening then"
12:42 Something worth noting is Hasbro actually had less say in the designs as it went on. Aaron Archer has talked about this on his Podcast.
Basically, as time went on and spending on these movies increased, Bay and Paramount were given more and more say on how the designs were and Hasbro corporate willingly relinquished control, only for AA and later Warden and co to be given the bill of actually making them into toys.
Huh.
I've spoken to an ex Hasbro employee, and his story was "warden chose not to stand his ground".
Interesting. Two different accounts.
@@DrLockdown Honestly, I don't think the accounts are that at odds. Hasbro was relinquishing design control already by rotf and dotm (there mandates during 07 are well documented) so by the time of AOE with Warden being the design front man, there very well could've not been any ground for him to stand on to push back as ILM cooking up models and sending them to Hasbro had become the norm.
Warden is his boogie man, wouldn’t try too much to bring reason into this.
@@octobotimus I mean I know, but I just like sharing information when it might not have been known.
Warden isn't a Boogie man.
It's just a funny cutaway gag. In actuality, I'm optimistic the team has learned a lot and will continue the wonderful level of quality we've had recently.
They way he just gave legacy Bulkhead to That Toy Guy is so funny
"thank you" he said slightly concerned
23:02 The worst thing about Terrorsuar is that he could have great if his beast mode was the other way. Have his tail be where Airazor's falcon head is, and the pterodactyl head be where the falcon's tail is.
We're still only getting 2022 releases here in Europe so this video is right on time actually. Love watching your stuff!
One good thing I’ll say about DNA Wheelie is that he further cemented, alongside TR and 86, that we’re allowed to just talk about figures of Wheelie and their strengths and weaknesses without forcing obligatory digs at the character into the conversation like certain Godzilla fans who haven’t realized that Roland Emmerich’s take on the character was over 20 years ago and has more than rectified since
Never forget Zilla.
@@Rabbitlord108 I’m not saying forget. I’m saying get over it.
@@Cdr2002 Okay.
And then there's me who actually likes the 98 Godzilla movie because, while not great, it gave us the cartoon series which was chef's kiss.
@@animeking1357 that cartoon is awesome and the movie is entirely harmless at this point and not worth getting worked up about. Glad you’ve enjoyed the cartoon as well
Authentics Arcee’s bit makes me really think that she is gonna get a PROPER thrashing eventually
I'm glad you spared Skullgrin from the list, I feel like everyone hates that toy except me
It's a damn good toy, idk why people hate it
It's fine, and damn good as the Cybertronian trooper.
I love the robot mode just don’t bother with the tank
skullgrin and his repaint are awesaume.
I honestly adore him a lot despite his flawed alt mode. That head sculpt looks hella badass
I will take no Core Shockwave disrespect
John warden could be on Pluto and somehow he’d get blamed for something lol 😂
some people forget that despite the issues with his design philosophy he still made a lot of great brand decisions
combiner wars WAS an out of pocket move at the time
combiners are a risky investment because a casual collector isn't spending a couple hundred bucks or so to complete a team
you're alienating an entire demographic and hoping the completionists pick up the slack so you can break even
and yet he did it and it became one of the biggest things in transformers
that devastator was something he had a massive hand in and it's still being talked about today i'll give him credit for that alone if nothing else
fufilling the obligation of 6:18 , my personal copy of wreckers twintwist has super weak knees and either leans forward akwardly (how he's currently on my shelf) or just tumbles backwards with basically zero inbetween for trying to pose him, which sucks because everything about him is genuinely good
Your comments on the Wreckers line is pretty funny. All my wreckers are solid and without issues except TwinTwist lol. The knees don't stay tabbed in at all so my copy straight up can't stand up.
Something that I missed too in the first several years of owning the mold is that the MP Ravage has the ability to arch the back and give it a true feline silhouette
Robot mode design I think LegaCee tried to de-shortstack IDW Flamewar as a way to translate the Prime design into a CHUG aesthetic, which makes sense in theory and I think looks good AS Flamewar. The original is a figure called Arcee that I plan on buying to use as a cope for another character. Maybe I’ll call her “Velocity” for the time being.
Saying that Q-formers have a premium feel to them made me choke on my dinner when I realized you were being serious, they look like happy meal toys!
They all have dense as fuck plastic, metallic finishes, high detail in vehicle modes due to licensing and addicting transformations.
Their quality is deceptive in photos.
Well, with the exception of this Bumblebee of course.
#7 almost gave me a heart attack.
"My Spindle keeps falling to pieces" same with my copy too lol. I got my copy Legacy Impactor and Spindle in TK Maxx during Christmas but I'm annoyed that Spindle's arm connections are super loose and they keep popping out of place. I'm glad however I got the original Legacy Bulkhead, that alt deco doesn't cut it out for me personally even with the extra hammer accessory.
Feels surreal hearing you talk about Legacy figures after rewatching your back catalogue on mostly WFC stuff
FR though, this was well worth the wait. Looking forward to all your upcoming videos - I'm getting on a roll with my collection now, and I'm thinking of doing some backcollecting.
Also, I found it strangely cathartic seeing you flip the bird at the number 1 entry on this list one more time.
Ooh, ooh! I have issues with Wreckers Twin Twist! The ball joint for his headmaster is very loose, and it makes it nearly impossible to plug in.
He’s not late, he just works in a different time zone
So, what’s next? 2023’s worst or 2022’s best?
Probably best 2022
Best of 2022...after a few other reviews first
Great job on the video man. Glad you finally made it! Also, I have a couple questions out of curiosity:
1. Considering how you feel after zeta superion, did it also going to stop you from wanting to get the can’t toys mini versions of their G1 predacons?
2. The title in your video also has the title for the last transformers movie released. Why is that? You didn’t say anything about the movie itself, so I’m wondering; what for?
Oh...I buggered up the title...oops...
Usually it's an algorithm thing, but u
I forgot to change it from last time.
And yeah not really interested in cang toys predaking
I am kinda curious, though, what are your thoughts on Masterpiece Raiden now that I see that you have Kaen. Did it end up disappointing you or is it still good despite its shortcomings? Also, are you planning on doing a full review of all 6 members of Raiden later down the line?
Hopefully I'll cover them one day, but I actually really like them
8:34 I know that the Legacy Arcee mold has been retooled so many times now, but I feel like they could have retooled her into Legacy Chromia like how they retooled Prime Arcee to Thrilling 30s Chromia. They are the same Arcee so they could have made the same Chromia
Very sorry about the 4:20 (couldn’t have picked a better timestamp) on behalf of Wisconsin
I agree with your number 16 spot, I just don’t like him at all. He won’t stay still and the clear plastic in the head broke so his head just falls off. I am trying to sell him off but the head and fact of how bad he is, I just want to throw him out the window, he is nothing but a paperweight at this point. Oh and alt mode just won’t tab together at all and the clever partforming weapons on the side just fall off if you glare at it wrong.
My twintwist is about as solid as a collinder of freshly cooked spaghetti
My wreckers twin twist had an issue with the waist mushroom peg being malformed, when turned it would pop off, I had to shave it down until it worked okish.
only real issue i have w Wrecker Twin Twist is that they painted over the combined gun handle so the paint scratches off
Was the number 3 glitch supposed be a sneak peak for a full length review or did the footage get corrupted?
Glad you got it done!! I do enjoy seeing the collection journey.
I won't deny Core Shockwave is a step down from CW, but I don't think he's anywhere near as bad as you make him out to be.
I work at a retail store and there has been the same SS86 Arcee on the pegs for the past YEAR AND A HALF
Hey Doc, I was wondering what your outro music is.
Pokemon mystery dungeon 2, temporal tower.
It's a remix though, and one sadly pulled off TH-cam
7:14 ironic since haslab Unicron is like that and you praised it for just the presence
Unicron's sticks solidly.
Sideswipes just dangles there
Out of the ENTIRE Wreck and Rule collection, Bulkhead is unironically my favourite. He feels good to me, nice and tight, colour scheme is way more appealing to me than the original solid green, transformation is fun, and the added hammer is nice. Which is weird because my ENTIRE COLLECTION has problems.
Twintwist has loose knees, the Fossilizers are either too loose or the HANDS KEEP FALLING OFF OF SPINDLE, Springer is just a bad figure in general, Impactor has a wonky leg making the foot not sit properly, and Leadfoot? He's actually okay, probably on par with Bulkhead.
Honestly if you had put the entire collection on the list, I'd 100% agree with you.
4:23, you bringing that up is genuinely amazing. Youve done more than most big youtubers have
20:04 Nice cameo of Eunie from Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
Ngl, I know its kinda shunned to do but I removed the backpack on MP Nightbird. Is her back damaged, yeah but she looks streamline now without a huge backpack.
Same. I got the Arcee version as well so I could get the full experience. I don’t regret it one bit
1:46
Where did you get that 3D printed Monado?
A friend made it for me
Was gonna make a comment about 2022/2024, but I found 3 of 2021's Kingdom Red Alerts & bought 1 from my local WalGreens today.
My soundwave seems to close all the way with Both ravage and rumble so maybe a QC issue at play?
The next few waves in the leak listings show a lot more Bayverse, but at the same time it also feels like remaining Bayverse getting cleared out so they can focus on the other aberrations of the line. Same with 86 actually. The big three characters in the franchise are on the way and then pretty much nothing
Which Bumblebee Soundwave figure do you think has the worser alt mode? Studio Series or Mechanical Alliance?
Had to google that. Looks like SS is worse, but neither are excusible. No canon alt mode means you can do whatever you like
I wasn't even collecting transformers until November 2022
like I dont think I had watched a single Transformers thing in literal years until November got me back into it
Legacy Elita, Coronation Starscream and 86 Arcee will forever be cherished by me cus it got me back into Transformers in time to experience the Energon Universe
As a person who saw it in legacy I ultimately and thankfully skipped and gotten the shattered glass version and it’s fun, complicated transformation and a sideswipe that’s also fun to transform.
Would you skip 2023 or do 2024 first if you thought it was more interesting?
What do you think is the best race car transformer
It took you a year and a half but I’m glad you finally released this list.
how did you give back wings to combiner hotrod? it looks great
Shapeways parts
Adding the other characters I collected as I watch it:
TLK Crosshairs: I enjoyed TLK Crosshairs. He's not great, or even good, but he's okay. Sadly they screwed over themselves should they do an AOE alt mode version, as he'll lack several paint apps on the coat.
ROTF Sideswipe: fair criticisms, but I enjoy this Sideswipe more, even if I had to replace his head with the DOTM one. Also, as a positive, the blades can store in Robot mode.
BB Soundwave: he has a bad alt mode, terrible shoulders, and bad design decisions in general. Shockwave has no bicep swivels, yet he somehow runs circles around Soundwave.
Golden Disk Terrorsaur: if they wanted to retool Airazor into Terrorsaur, they should have used the Mainline ROTB Airazor being designed around that time.
DOTM Laserbeak: I wish they did the actual Laserbeak and not the Pink Bumblebee.
Didn’t have to rush this out so fast man we can be patient!
Hate to be that person but my twin twist before i sold him off, couldnt fully transform into vehicle mode because of some issue i cant recall anymore (sold off this figure mid way throught 2023)
I wasn't expecting you to dislike the ROTF Sideswipe figure as well. For my copy, the vehicle mode REALLY didn't wanna stay tabbed together with its accessories wanting to constantly pop out, making it have a play doh factor. The robot mode isn't any better, with the feet being a floppy mess, the right door wing being very loose refusing to stay up, and the messy backpack sticks out too much like a sore thumb. I had pretty high expectations getting this figure since I missed out on the DOTM Sideswipe and thought this would deliver, only to be left disappointed.
Sounds like you got a really bad copy, I’m sorry to hear that, mine holds quite well and has basically no QC issues, but I have a working theory as to why it’s the case, are you in the US? And if so, are you on the west coast or east coast?
Talking of collaborative figures, i have ectotron which i really like but doesn't fit with the rest of my collection. I also have the tonkanator, and i enjoy that
6:16 my TwinTwist has extremely loose knees, other than that, he’s fine
My 86 blurr came out of the box with loose arm pylon things. I’d get another but then I’d have two weird looking things
Doc with the surprise E-Hobby Megaplex flex
It still bothers me that we never get Megatrons repainted into Megaplex with that deco
That's...not megaplex.
That's my friends copy, and it's one of the rare G1 blue versions.
@@DrLockdown ohhh the Takara G1 Megatron, very cool! I tend to think of it as Megaplex cause a similar deco of G1 Megatron was released by E-Hobby years ago using the Megaplex character as it’s fictional context
I also got the Tyrannocon set for cheap. I got them for $27 American thanks to a gamestop sale. Then I sold the JP93 to the cashier for 15 bones. I spent Core price for a leader class, and you can't beat that lmao
Oh god that Laserbeak. Couldn’t even get through one transformation before I decided he was being returned, because the arms wouldn’t stop falling off!
Yeah twintwist wrecker has gotten incredibly loose joints overtime and arms that are getting looser.
I'm amazed 86 Perceptor made the list, even as a (dis)honorable mention; bro's super posable, has a clean transformation (though admittedly it's kind of hard to mess up Perceptor's transformation), and he looks exactly like he should. Maybe the blue is slightly too light?
Out of 2022 figures I own, I'd put Crankcase on the list. I really want to like him, but those shoulder guns are pathetic, the car doors are a fingerprint magnet, and most importantly, he barely stays together in robot mode. His chest comes apart literally every time I try to move his arms unless I hold it down, and I can't count the number of times said arms have popped right off their shoulder joints. Skids was great, but his moldmate? Not so much.
I'm okay with crankcase. He's okay.
But Percy is just boring; it's just the G1 toy with articulation. When you do that, but remove the chunk factor and heft, there's just nothing to him
@@DrLockdown Eh to each their own, I don't find Perceptor boring personally, he does what he's meant to do and is a solid figure. I've had a lot more enjoyment messing around with him than I have CC who has to be handled delicately else he falls to bits (though again this is just my experience, it's possible I got one with really bad QC)
i have no issues with the back of my bumblebee soundwave when putting in the cassette bots
i actually really like the world's collide set, the scorponok mold is imo great, might be because i don't care about the proportions being odd and i actually like the transformation for whatever reason? having not seen beast wars or had any attachment to the character the most i would would be for his appearance in forged to fight, which already does the head different and such, so im okay with him doing his own thing. not as good of colors as sandstorm, but neat. and goldbug i think is great with colors and stuff, i don't mind the partsforming and wanted the set for skywasp and ransack anyways, and i like the cliffjumper mold but my cliffjumper ended up super loose for some reason so having a version of the mold that works and looks good is fun.
and on kingdom hot rod, yeah he's weird and such, but my combiner wars rodimus has all the joints on his left side too loose to use, so i wanted a version of him that would actually work, which core roddy does, and i think actually doesnt look bad, just not great, and his alt mode on mine doesnt come too undone automatically for whatever reason even though it takes a lot of force to get the top windshield bits to tab in, the ones with that problem are ss86 ratchet and ironhide who i just cannot get to stay transformed or anything and which i would say both are actually worse than hot rod for that, aside from their robot modes being pretty good outside of the chests constantly untabbing and popping out. which for parts not staying in id also put origins bumblebee as one of my least favorite transformers ever too, the little ball jointed panels on mine pop out all the time and just makes him annoying to deal with, so.
21:35 Reminds me of that “Fall of Cybertron” Soundwave alt mode
Nah that actually looked cool.
Whats so bad about Trans-Scanning Bumblebee?
I'm going to guess parts forming
Gold plastic syndrome.
clear plastic degrading
Falls apart
Ashla? That you?
Ngl on 16 i disagree on some points. I got to admit the gun storage on ROTF sideswipe is clever in 2 ways being the exhaust and the hood (tho pain in the ass to put it in there) but i agree on the backpack that while being a tad bigger than the dotm one its still ok or fine with it. Whats not fine? Constant falling of the sword storage and on mine one of the wheels don't roll so i had to use a coin to separate said wheel as far as possible to roll and ofc......paint chipping
ill just say this
you got *lucky* with your legacy bulkhead compared to me. his gun? refuses to stay in the holes, the chest? the clear plastic is being horrible for the connections and i cant hold him there because he will disconnect and be very floppy there. so in all honesty, you got good QC on one, and similar QC to me on the other
oh also my twin twist refuses to die, he is very nice, only issue is the knee locking places being a slight pain
fun fact, i got toyguys superitron by buying him lunch
I know The Bumblebee soundwave is a nothingburger with a side of 'are you serious?' fries but mine can hold Ravage and Rumble just fine, I think you got a wonky one not that that really saves the figure
this feels like when my dad brought back the milk 8 years later
I never left. I've done plenty of reviews since.
I was just moving
Lists like this make me fortunate I have only so much to spend on this hobby as I have to pass on a lot these days. Never got the Camo version of Bulkhead but as my first Legacy figure the original is fantastic in how fun, and solid a figure he is. Really hope the mold doesn't suffer too much as Breakdown. Only recently got Arcee, and overall despite the legs, and faulty waist think she's a decent figure. Transformation is fun, and the bike mode is nice for what it is. Curious to see what will make 2023s list as I only got back into collecting in the last year.
This video made me check my calendar to make sure I wasn’t losing my mind as to what year it was, 10/10.
My Holi’s legs still come off like crazy. Roadhandler has this issue to but he’s not a Haslab figure. I don’t mind Fire but he’s not super interesting
29:33 To be entirely honest, I was incredibly underwhelmed by the Micromasters, definitely not helped that the first set I got were the firetruck and police car, so getting them again with Victory Saber really didn't win me over.
Pipo and Boater, though? I think those two gave me the Danny DeVito "Oh my God, I get it" moment for the appeal of the Micromasters, and what I was missing by skipping out on so many
It's because they were able to cover some of the actually unique designs instead of the big standard cars and trucks.
And there wasn't any combining gimmick shoved in.
18:07 me not paying attention, me listening to Bonkle music
He a Scorpion, so he gets nui jaga music.
Is that 3rd party magna convoy transformable?
Yes.
What warpath was at 40:38 ?
Badcube
@DrLockdown is it worth picking up?
Not really. The CHUG ones are better
25:01 is that mighty switch force music??? Bbbbbased??
Yeah my copy of rotf sideswipe feel the same as the dorm one my it’s a good qc issue
Me personally, I only display my Transformers in Robot mode and ador the Bumblebee movie designs so i love the Bee movie Soundwave. I love the robot mode. And because of that absolutely horrible alt mode i have decided to never transform him ever and keep that awesome Robot on display. Interestingly my Soundwave's cassettes fit fine. Both Ravage and Rumble don't have a problem fitting in.
Twin Twist - The 'Headmaster' gimmick doesn't really work on mine. . .well, it works, but it's just too wobbly and doesn't 'click' in firmly.
Man I wish this came out a few months earlier before I bought creatures collide and shattered glass goldbug for like 180$
Personally, my copy of S.S. Bumblebee Soundwave doesn't have the cassette issue, Ravage fits fine and I personally like the vehicle mode because it actually feels a bit alien in a good way to me. Does he have faults, absolutely I couldn't figure out for a while how to keep the tabs in the vehicle mode until I found out you needed to tip the head forward to not constantly fight it and I feel that they could have found a better way to store the shoulder cannon. I like the figure and I am glad I got a copy.
Sucks that you’ve lost your love of legends. Personally I’ve got MS grimlock incoming and he looks very good!
I haven't lost it completely. The completionism is just gone.
Recently finished MS bruticus, and he's great. Also really surprised by NA Octopunch.
Okay.
Now I'm curious seeing what makes Legacy Core Shockwave bad when the review/faceoff comes
I can confirm Frankentron is good, but yeah, not worth a massive premium. I paid American retail and if it wasn't my silly thing I'd feel a bit ripped off. If he's on a decent sale I'd say he's worth it if you like Frankenstien. Otherwise, eh, skippable.
Also, he makes me think of a Red Alert 2 Tesla tank, so I'm an easy mark.
In my personal opinion, nothing saves SS86 Perceptor, not even the Magnificus glow-up. I already had an eHobby Magnificus when I got the Selects version. I have NEVER wanted to pick up a decade old figure more than handling the new one. Wobbly joints, boring transformation, non-descript bot mode. That mold is not saved by painting it red and black like so many molds before it.
I absolutely love jp93, he’s just got a charm to him that I love as a JP fan, but after hearing your reasonings…
*yeah I can understand your viewpoints*
Being someone who’d probably have him in bot mode as opposed to vehicle mode, I understand where you’re coming from. I don’t have a critical eye, so I still adore him, and although his chest hollowness has never bothered me before, now that you’ve pointed it out I can’t really unsee it, and his back refusing to tab in has been bothering me since I got him. And I do get anxious every time I transform his feet
Although ironically, I did accidentally break a part of jp93. Although instead of the foot… it was a door? One of his door wings fell off one day, and when I look at it… there’s a crack in it…
Yeah it doesn't matter if this ranking video was late, I 100% agree on this list just for how awful they look (& can imagine how some of them feel given I got Sideways... twice. Once long time ago in 2022 then sold him off in 2023, and got the 2nd copy when the website I usually buy action figures just a bunch of Studio Series stuff, so you'd guess how that turned out... My point is; he feels like a knockoff thanks to the joint being floppy like a noodle).
And thanks for the info of each one of them.
21:18 what the hell
My Soundwave fits the ravage cassette in its chest just fine. Nothing gets caught and his back doesn’t get pushed out
A figure that i was disappointed in was actually legacy buzzsaw especially my copy. Left wing was loose and a bit damaged, the waist wouldn't lock in place and when i use the waist swivel it looks disjointed, left knee was so incredibly tight and with all the bug legs on the figure it was not great to handle.
But the head sculpt is awesome and the yellow jacket mode looks incredibly awesome so im keeping him in beast mode from now on
He has good qualities, But man he's just not delivering but again this is my opinion
I get it: he doesn't do anything special but SS 86 Percy is a decent Percy.
Agree on Terrorsaur, I had to put some pieces of paper in the feet ball joints because he just wouldn't stand up and the wings pop off if you breathe on them. I only got him because it was heavily discounted on Amazon and had the golden disk. It's just odd how shoddy he is compared to all the other new Beast Wars figures I own (yes, I skipped Scorponok).
whos the tank on the right side of the screen at 8:02-8:03?
