Hi there I'm Vicki! Marie and I have been friends for a very long time ... I love her videos. I learn something every time I watch. I love supporting her
Thanks so much for your support Vicki 😍
Hi from Wales, U.K. I've just started a pottery course, can't wait to get to the glazing stage. Thanks for a great video. 🖌️🎨
That is GREAT! Welcome to the wonderful world of crafting pottery. Happy to help you on your journey. 😊
Hi, I'm Geeta from Mumbai, 🇮🇳!! Love your easy to follow techniques!! Thanks for sharing!!
Hi, Geeta Thank you so much. 😍 Welcome to Pottery Crafters TH-cam channel. So glad it is helpful 😊
Fabulous video, yet again, Marie! I always learn so much from you, and in a couple more months, hopefully less, I will FINALLY be able to try everything out that I've learned from you! So grateful for everything you teach in your videos and also your website! Thanks again!
Thank you so much Mary Jean 😍 That's great news. It really is fun and faster to glaze on the wheel. 👍😊
Thank you Marie I'll try this week now🙏👍
You're welcome 😍 Makes brush glazing more fun to do 😊
Some really good ideas, thanks
Glad you like them! Thanks Dave😊
Hi Marie, love your videos! I'm a Latvian designer, based in Denmark. For future videos, I would love to see how to build larger sculptures, and I'm also very interested in slipcasting / molds. :) All the best!
Also, I'm interested in how to add a foot (or trim a foot) in handbuilt pieces that are a bit assymetrical on the rim :) and marble technique with either underglaze or with wedging two colors of clay
Thank you very much for those fun suggestions. I put them on my list. I do have a video on trimming a foot on the wheel that may interest you th-cam.com/video/CyuaB8calOI/w-d-xo.html
Thank you! Wow, designing is great. Thank you for the suggestions I will put them on my list.
Pls teach the right way to add mason stain to clay.My stain keeps coming off.Thank you so much.
I have this video that will help th-cam.com/video/S0ThSoaCWvw/w-d-xo.html it works great for me. I hope it will for you also.😊
I also have this one for colored slip that you may find useful. th-cam.com/video/95KkiwlOOko/w-d-xo.html
I know most of glazes should be 3 or 4 coats for solid coverage, but what if I want to use the applicator for mini details? Is there a way for that? Love from the other side 💙💙
Yes, you can. Just make sure it's applied thick enough. The thickness of a t shirt. 😊
Thank you very much from Israel
Israel. How wonderful!!! You are most welcome.
@@PotteryCrafters thank you. I watch your videos all the time
That's great to know Thank you. 😊
Hi. I inherited my mother’s kiln and wheel. I absolutely love your videos. I’m having problems with my glaze crazing. Can you give me some suggestions? My kiln is a scutt with manual sitter. I’m glazing by brush.
Thank you Arnita. It's great that you are making pottery😍 There are several reasons for crazing. Let's start with a simple fix. Wait until your kiln is around 150 or less to open. It's best to slow fire. And do your clay and glazes fit? Are they expanding and contracting together? I had crazing until I waited for my kiln to cool down all the way and it stopped. Hopefully, this will help. 😊
@@PotteryCrafters thank you so much. I will admit it’s hard not to peek. Love your videos they are calming and have so much information. Keep making them please.
Thank you so much. I'm glad they help 😍
Im loving your videos. Thank you for sharing. I was wondering how you have the pot or plate stay still on the wheel? How do you stop it from moving?
Thank you, Sue. Good question. The pottery stays on the wheel because I'm not applying too much pressure with the brush. Plus the pot does not have to be exactly centered. If you do happen to push your pot too far off-center, just stop the wheel and push it back in the center. It is a fun way to glaze. 😍
@@PotteryCrafters Thanks so much Marie.
You're welcome Sue. I forgot to tell you when I did the banding glaze on the plate I had to center it and was carful not to make it move 😍
I wanna learn how to use speckled glaze and do half speckled glaze and have just clear glaze on a mug but I don’t know if I have to clear glaze the whole thing to make it water/heat proof
I have a speckled underglaze video you may be interested in. th-cam.com/video/ojVPAA_Gr9g/w-d-xo.html 😀 Hope this helps
Beautiful bowl!! Im a newbie struggling to center on the wheel. But Ive had fun with handbuilding
Thank you 😊 I do have a video on centering if you decide to throw on the wheel.
th-cam.com/video/eiJg_T4I0LU/w-d-xo.html I also have one on the 11 problems you may have with centering. th-cam.com/video/GKS5GIb2j84/w-d-xo.html These may help. I remember when it took me longer to center then it did making the pot 😆
Marie, Do you ever spray any glazes? AND if yes, do you thin them with water? I want to spray clear glaze but not sure if I need to dilute. Any help is always welcome, Thanks
You want your glazes to be the consistency of heavy cream. Here is a spray glaze post for you to read. Here is the link potterycrafters.com/how-to-spray-glaze-pottery-pottery-glazing-tips/ 😊
@@PotteryCrafters Thanks and Merry Christmas
Hi Marie, is your regular practice to wear gloves when glazing?
Hi Linda 😊 Yes it is now 😀 after I messed up my bisqueware because I use hand lotion.
@@PotteryCrafters wait, what happened with the hand lotion?
My hands get dry so use a lot of lotion. 😊The lotion got on my bisqueware and the glaze did not stick. So now I wear gloves when I can or make sure my hands are nice and clean and dry when I can't wear gloves. Like applying stickers or transfers. 😀
@@PotteryCrafters that’s really clever - thanks for the tip!
Great video! I’ll definitely use this technique when I glaze next. Do you have several applicator bulbs, or do you clean the same one out between each glaze?
Thanks, Kathy. It is fun to do. 😊 Very good question. I clean out the same one. I was just thinking of getting another one to make the process go a little faster. 😀
Someday I’ll be able to afford a kiln and a throwing wheel and I’ll do all these amazing techniques.
That is great! 😍 Throwing, trimming, and decorating are all fun to do on the pottery wheel. 😊
Bedankt voor jou duidelijke uitleg ik kan nog veel bijleren groetjes Jacqueline……België

What kind of wax resist is best but also cheap for a high school class?
I think the best is Amaco wax resist. It's great for the classroom because it is green and the students can see where they applied it. You can get it here geni.us/7c2XIG but if you want cheap you are better off getting a gallon. It costs much less and you will have a good amount that should last a while in the classroom. You can get it here geni.us/9Iju 👍😊
I have a question for you! When I have made something that I want to glaze all over (also the bottom) is that possible? So Yes, how?
Thank you so much in advance!
Very good question Julia. Yes. the most common way is to put it on ceramic stilts. This post will help. Here is the link for you potterycrafters.com/how-do-you-glaze-the-bottom-of-pottery/ 😊👍
@@PotteryCrafters thank you So much for your fast reply!! I’m going to try it very soon, Thanks!!
That's great Julia. If you remember. Let me know how it goes.
Hallo Marie, here Anita from Holland, can you show how to pull up a vase, i keep getting thin with thick peeces in the wall, thanks
Yes, I can. I have this video that may help. It's a smaller vase because it's for beginner potters, then the more you practice the bigger you can go 😍 th-cam.com/video/hhKL8_hbSBg/w-d-xo.html How to Make a Vase on the Wheel For Beginners 😊
Thx Marie, i will try, i like all your video's
That's great. let me know how it turns out 😊
This is clever.
Thanks and It's fun to do 😊
@@PotteryCrafters I'm definitely trying this next time I glaze.
Awesome!
Thanks!😊
Yeah, how many coats are you putting on there? I thought glaze was limited to 2 or 3 coats?
Good question. I put 3 coats on and sometimes 2 to 3 more on the rim so the glaze flows down the pottery. 😊 The amount of coats is determined by how thick your application is and how stable your glaze is.
