This comment section is full of well-deserved praise, so I'm not going to add much, but THANK YOU! This is an incredible reference for anyone wondering how glazes might interact.
I had a terrible art teacher in high school who made me feel very inadequate and discouraged when it came to art. He wouldn't give us any creative freedom and if you asked to try something he would doubt you and not offer guidance. His instruction was always tinged with a tone of annoyance and condescendence. Because my partner is a ceramics artist I have rekindled my relationship with art as an adult and we now have a full on ceramics studio in our home. Watching your videos is like getting the art education I always wish I had. Your students are lucky to have you and you are so kind to upload your content for everyone.
I am sorry you had a negative experience. That just makes me sad when I see kids stifled. My goal is to give the kids a little interest, and a little bit of passion so they will always have an appreciation of the media, even if they never touch it again!!
I just learned more in glazing than I have have all year in my pottery classes! You went far and beyond in these videos and you are a great teacher. Thanks!
As a ceramics teacher myself I applaud you for all the time you took to put this video together and for your generous and helpful instruction. What a gracious offering. Thank you!
YOU ARE FABULOUS!! I’m 72 and in love with ceramics, now taking beginner class at college, I just wish you were my teacher, your explanations are short and clear and fortunately we can now pause the video to take it all in lol. Thank you so much for your great work
Hello from Naukati Bay Alaska. I am an Intensive SpEd Aide for our small school here and stumbled across your videos. I wanted to thank you so much for all the hard work you put in for your students. This was an amazing set of videos! You took the time to show all these different techniques and colors, but then went the extra mile to actually show what time on the last video it corresponds with! You are an amazing teacher and don't ever forget it! 💜
Thank you so much. I will save this video for reference. This was like a whole semester of glaze study in one video. You have such energy that comes across the entire video. It is contagious!!!
Just a random 50something wannabe potter from Dallas who stumbled upon the videos for your students and got sucked in. Loved, loved, loved the 28 glazing techniques and was so happy when you said there was a follow-up. Love, love, love #5 plus the drippy one and all the blue/green/brown combos, basically anything with a 70’s vibe! And the real red, love, love, love! I need an entire semester of 8 hour days of your classes, please!
You are a clear, effective, concise communicator, your videos are focused and dense with info, and your presentation style is suited both to your students and potters of any age. Kudos on the series of videos demonstrating glaze combos and your refreshingly authoritative comments in each case. Your efforts are well worth the time and attention. Your students, and we, are lucky for your care and enthusiasm. You are the type of teacher people remember fondly and appreciate years later. Many, many thanks.
As a newcomer, for the last 8 months, to pottery classes I have found this video and the previous one really helpful. I love my classes so thank you for some great ideas.
I just wanted to say thank you, for providing so much useful information! I just started taking pottery classes this January, for the first time. I"m 53 years young. The instructor I have is lovely. But, he's not always the best at explaining things in layman's terms. I got a lot out of your Part 1 glazing video. I'm here now to see how the pieces turned out. I've learned so much about technique and terminology from you already. I appreciate you taking the time to educate not just your lucky students. But also the rest of us.
I know it has been 2 years since you have done this video, but I couldn't have made head nor tales out of glaze without this video... At least now I have a great start. Thank you so much for making it. I have learned so much, I am not lost like I was yesterday. Sharon, Oklahoma.
Thank you for this information. I really appreciate it especially because you filmed the whole process including the specific dip, pour, or brush on application AND the final glazed result. I will use this as an important reference material in my studio.
I’m taking ceramics in my senior year of high school. Thank you so much for your informational videos, it really means a lot to me and I’m starting to love ceramics! Also all the pieces came out so lovely 😍😊
You my dear are an excellent teacher straight to the point with very thoughtful invested lessons. Bravo to an awesome teacher. The students are lucky to have you.
Wow, this is so incredibly helpful! You have gone above and beyond for your students, and it brings tears to my eyes when I think of what a light you and your class must have been to so many students this past year, and always. Thank you so much for all that you do- it’s clear you are an incredible teacher. 💗💗💗
Thank you so much for this. You've done an amazing job: everything so clearly explained. It's much appreciated. I especially like the shino and steel grey shino combo. Lovely.
Fabulous video. I have learned so much from your 28 glaze techniques. I am new to pottery and doing just handbuilding. Glazes are still a mystery but you have helped so much with your two videos. Thank you. Beautiful work!
You have the luckiest students on the planet! Such detail! Such thoroughness! I wish I could disguise my 50-something self as a 16-year old and move to Ohio to be in your classes. You even put the time stamp of the prior video for each piece! OMG! I'm taking classes at a place with with very different glaze options - fine, but I like yours a lot. I would love to try the Texas 2 Step line at some point. Loved those. Our school doesn't use patties, and I was wondering if any such process existed to prevent sticking to the shelf with runnier glazes. Now I know. You're wonderful! Thank you so much, Karan.
Wow! I WISH I had a teacher like you! Your passion, dedication and organization are a rarity. I hope those children know you are made of pure gold (and a bit of fairy dust) . You are an inspiration to do everything better. Thank you for sharing.
You are a GOD! I watched the first series and loved it, but wanted to see the finished pieces and here they are! I'm a Special Ed Art Teacher K-12 and work with pottery often. Always looking to mix it up for students and your tutorials are simple and straight forward. THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for generously sharing your knowledge and time. I'm a newbie and I really appreciate what you have done here for students. I'll bet you are the "favorite teacher" of many of your high schoolers. Thanks again!
I watched your first and second video a few months ago, when I started my pottery journey. I just came back to it, because I feel that now, with more months of throwing and glazing, I feel like I can get more out of these two videos. Thank you so much for all the knowledge information you provide!!
Wow. Thanks so much for sharing this - my wife and I loved your first video and this second was so satisfying and educational. Your students must be so proud to have such a wonderful teacher!
i didn´t even know that there are so many ways to glaze! my favourite is nr. 13, subtle yet stunning, and you picked the perfect colours for a harmonious contrast
Thank you for your informative video. Your delivery is great and kept me interested. Love the combo of the 2 videos. Your students are lucky to have you.
Nicely done. Really, really well done. The explanations are clear, thorough, and very helpful. I watched part one and have been awaiting the reveal. The commitment to making a well produced video is commendable and greatly appreciated. I’ll certainly be trying the Texas Two Step glazes, as well as the Shinos. Thank you!
These were both such fun videos to watch and learn from. Thanks for sharing. I struggle with glazing. But now I’m inspired to try a glaze that is spotted like marshmallow or to try black under another glaze. Fun!!
Hi Karen, I just wanted to say thank you for such wonderful and informative videos. I am a student at NKU earning my Art Education degree with a focus in ceramics and not only do your videos demonstrate excellent teaching skills, but they have helped me an enormous amount as I navigate my ceramic classes. Thank you!!
Thank you so much for sharing these! I have been looking for a good glaze video as a beginner! You are so organized and you are wonderful to listen to! Thank you again!
I am new to pottery compared to a lot of artist ... I wish I could afford to attend a studio.. Is all your classes are so helpful and appreciated... Just wonderful Thank you...
Your videos are so useful Karan, especially this one and the other one when you glazed the bowls. I really enjoyed your daily distraction videos during the summer too. Thank you so much.
Thanks so very much! Your videos are clear, detailed and an excellent pace. I learn a lot from them. Keep up the inspiration! Your students are fortunate to have you instructing them!

You are an incredible teacher, extremely thorough and very well organized. Your students are so lucky! Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us!
Thank you SO much for this video. I had just started pottery when the pandemic hit and have been teaching myself since. I don’t really have anyone that I can ask questions to so glazing has been incredibly difficult. This video has helped me understand so much about how glazes interact and can be applied! Thanks for sticking it in quick videos with tons of techniques, this is great for me to refer back to when I’m in the studio!
Excellent! Thank you! My teachers only taught me the basics.. I had to learn more from yt videos such as yours. Btw, I’m not talking about classes in high school, I’m talking about classes I took as an adult. I WISH I had taken art classes in high school but this type of class wasn’t even offered or available in my high school. Thank you for sharing this with us on yt. It’s wonderful that you are willing to help the world! Literally! 🎉🎉🎉keep up the good work and keep sharing with us! I’m going to follow you as much as possible.
So much great information. Was looking forward to seeing the results after the first video. My major takeaway is that we need to be curious and experimental like scientists, and accept that all results are successes because they teach us something.
:-) Beautiful!! Your two part video is PURE GOLD! Thank you so much for sharing this valuable information. I am a new potter and this video & part one, have been EXTREMELY helpful! You are amazing!

Thank you. Yes very helpful. You used some glazes I have been afraid to use. I now have courage. I love the blue purple Over baby blue satin. Thank you again.
Thank you so much for this video! This was SUPER helpful. I am a beginner potter experimenting with glazes. I made egg cups off the hump specifically to test glazing. I wish I found this video earlier before I did my first lot of glaze testing, which I will pick up from the studio tomorrow to see how they turn out. Must throw more to try out some of your method!
This comment section is full of well-deserved praise, so I'm not going to add much, but THANK YOU! This is an incredible reference for anyone wondering how glazes might interact.
Thank you for the kind words!
Easily the most useful glazing video series I've seen yet
