Outstanding review PersepectiveEnd!!! Tarantulas was at the top of my list of Legacy figures to collect. :D Fingers crossed that BW Inferno gets released ahead of the other Legacy Wave 3 figures so we can complete our cast of BW season 1 Predacons. Keep on being amazing.
@@PerspectiveEnd I agree. Going by the fact that Amazon has wave 2 deluxes street dated for Dec. release, but they are showing up now, with Legacy wave 3 street dated for Feb. 2023, I have a feeling that Legacy wave 3 is going to get released during November, just in time for the Christmas shopping season.
The only accuracy issues I have with him is that the back of his head isn’t black with the yellow stripe and I’m pretty sure where his belly is shouldn’t be purple. I’m really happy with this guy though, even if his wrists are too high up they still look really great overall I also remember watching beast wars last year and remember disliking tarantulus’ design a lot, I found his transmetal form sooooo much better. But once I saw this figure I was just drawn to it. Idk how I like the design more here now but I do so yay
@@PerspectiveEnd yea I’m really not sure. Because this figure seems really accurate and I love it. I’m currently rewatching beast wars and I like the design so yea really not sure what I was thinking. Maybe because I liked his transmetal design so much and it made me dislike the original, idk
This has been my problem since kingdom. They left out some of the MOST important Core characters in favor of more G1. Hell there are even Beastformers in there who had much less of an Impact than Tarantulas.
I have a theory that Hasbro had deliberately left him out of Kingdom because they knew that having a core member of the Predacons in the sequel line which we all know as Legacy now would boost the chance for people to get hooked on the line. The same applies to BW Inferno as well.
On waffling, note that ABS parts can't be too thick at any point, or they need to spend a lot longer cooling in the mold to not warp. It's a money saving thing, but it's purpose isn't just to save on plastic. It's a legitimate design constraint if they want their factories to have any kind of decent throughput. I'm not saying Hasbro isn't being cheap 95% of the time, but on a figure like Tarantulas who has so many spindly parts you can't just solve the problem the classic way by splitting every part into multiple sections that screw together so all the hollowness is on the inside. You can see that they did do this on his thighs, which is nice because when Hasbro is being really cheap it won't even do that.
@@PerspectiveEnd You will rarely find many parts on a transformer where the walls of the plastic are more than a millimeter or two thick. When that does happen it's usually on something load bearing, like a waist joint, or short and stumpy, like a gun handle. Take a look at MMC Incursus's skirt armor, for example, and you'll see MMC glued in a filler piece instead of molding it all as one piece. I'm willing to bet Hasbro wasn't willing to do that on Tarantulas, not just because of the cost, but also because that'd be a choking hazard with how small the filler pieces would need to be. Mold degradation is absolutely a thing, but I'm willing to bet that often what people blame on mold degradation is actually just Hasbro not leaving the parts to cool in the mold for long enough. A bad mold will mess with tolerances and cause bleeding on the separation lines, but shouldn't cause excessive warping, which is what I often see on the line-filler and "impulse buy"-tier repaints where it's obvious Hasbro didn't give a damn.
Legacy tarantulas reminds me of why I love the beast wars predacon designs and... God how could I forget this figure existed. welp time to get one I guess. Great vid mate!
I mean yeah but there's something so badass about the insect/arachnid designs that tickles my fancy... Well excluding black arachnia. Too much spider tibby... And that's a thought I shouldn't have put into my head
@@PerspectiveEnd well the chances of a new mold is still like a 50/50 split if it happening and it not. Look at jhiaxus, tarantulas, and the new cosmos. All are new molds, but if anything, i think if scrounge weren’t a new mold, it would probably be a remold and retool of cosmos like the last figure
Over the past couple of years it’s honestly been so cool to get Beast Wars characters again. Even with Kingdom making the alt mode “accurate to real animals” I’m still so grateful that Hasbro is giving Beast Wars a shot again. It was so weird that after Beast Wars basically saved Transformers they were so afraid to do anything with it besides Wasp and Black Arachnia in Animated. But even though Kingdom the show was an embarrassment it’s so cool getting these figures of all these characters. I hope that after they make all the beast wars characters they want they start using other series Designs in shows again so that way other transformers fans can have there favorite transformers series too. Even though Legacy is doing this so far with including at least 1 character from ever series ever I think that having a line of like let’s say Aramada again would be pretty cool. Though not anytime soon as right now Transformers is in need of originality with there shows and designs.
It has been cool to get beast wars again, don't get me wrong it's kind of a dream come true, but at the same time I can't help but feel slighted. The whole WFC was an Embarrassment, Kingdom was just worse for taking a perfect story and trying to puppet it's corpse around for easy credit. Transformers more than anything needs a good show, weather or not it's original, or not, it just needs to be uncompromisingly good.
I cannot wait for my copy of this figure! The only bummer is that, since I live in Croatia, I had to order him from a croatian website so I can get him. Unfortunately it takes 10-14 days to get to me, so it will miss my birthday by a couple of days. But at least it will make up for it by being an awsome figure. Also i got ROTF deluxe Soundwave as an early birthday gift, and I have to say that he is great! (I reccomend it)
Happy Birthday in a few days. 14 days is pretty typical for shipping, that's not too much worse than a lot of what I have to deal with if I'm not buying through Amazon.
To be honest, I am surprised we haven't gotten a Devcon in about 8 years, especially since the 22 86 Scourge mold, I would really want it in legacy. Heck, easy money for Hasbro, repaint iguanas, and call him Slizardo. It hurts when Hasbro doesn't do something obvious like that.
I mean swap the inferno’s and pipes with tarantulas then we have more beast wars in kingdom. I’m super excited for this to arrive cause it looks so cool in bug mode and to get the transart version. Also a steal for being a deluxe
I mean that would be true, but that still means that Kingdom was more about G1 than it was Beast Wars when the numbers shouldn't even have been close. It should have been like 20 maybe 30% about G1. Not over 50.
It's not a secret that I'm not a Beast Wars fan in the sense that when the show originally came out, I was a teenager more focused in chasing girls in high school instead of playing with toys or watching cartoons, but I've recognized more than once and I do it again that this is the ONLY figure from Beast Wars that I truly and madly WANT! ... He look so mean and mysterious (just like Shockwave do), and his alternate mode (beyond been creepy and terrifying) is just FLAWLESS!
Did you ever watch the Show after your teenage years? Mean and Mysterious are ways to Describe Tarantuals, but I don't feel like they give off his mad Tweaker Energy.
@@PerspectiveEnd yes I did, and I like the plot and the character development, however, I don't like the biological animal appearance for Transformers as a concept (no fur on my robots skin, thank you! 😆)... I prefer the traditional mechanical beasts look in general, but Tarantulas is an exception to that rule for me!
you know what sucks ? I LOVE tarantulas, hes my all time favorite transformers character, and when they revealed this figure i was hyped, and this is from everyone i hear a great figure, and yet he havent arrived here once, most of wave 2 didnt make it here and even when i went outside of my country i still never found him
I am just loving chug again now. I know people love kingdom, but I was so disinterested because my stores would never get the good figures. But legacy is just what I want in a line.
The accuracy is amazing, but that tarantula mode is what truly sold me on this figure. I can use that to scare sooooo many people. My girlfriend is def gonna hate it. I can't buy it rn cuz I'm no longer working while I'm in college, but it'll be worth the wait for when I am able to buy it :)
I'll answer that question. Because Hasbro can't go two days without another cup of G-1 cup. Anyway, I need this figure. Tarantulas was one of my favorite characters from Beast Wars, and this looks amazing.
Yes you do need this, Tarantulas was awesome, one of the best ACTUAL villains from Beast Wars, and not just an Idiot being manipulated for Megatrons benifit.
I have 3 figures I am gonna be getting by the end of the year. #1 is Decepticons Forever Ravage or Kingdom Ravage for short. #2 is Generations Select Cyclonus and finally #3 is Galactic Man Shockwave. These are all must gets with Ravage for the beast wars display and the other 2 for my Diaclone/Toy accurate display which is my main focus at the moment.
My brother had this theory that the majority of the original beast wars characters were descendents of some of G1 characters. For instance: -cheetor -> hot rod -primal -> prime -rattrap -> bumblebee (somehow haha) -tarantulas -> shockwave -terrasaur -> starscream
I did have the chance to pick this up at a mall when I got Wild Rider and Knock Out, but they were charging essentially Voyager prices for them due to mall overhead/scarcity so I had to leave Tarantalus and Elita-1 for the future, plus it would probably be unfair to deny another collector as they had only one of each out at the time.
It’s not bad; some minor issues with the joints [specifically in the hips] wanting to stay in set positions without having soft ratchets. A minor step down from Drag Strip but worth it, at least for me.
So I’ve started watching beast wars and well… it’s fucking awesome! I’m now even more excited for my tarantulas to arrive because I really like the character now
1:52 The closest we ever got to having Tarantulas related, in a way, to Shockwave was in the initial run of the IDW comics, where Tarantulas was said to be an avid student of Shockwave. Though speaking of IDW Tarantulas, do you think it would be cool to get a figure based off his design? Truthfully, the design is just the Transmetal design with the organic aspect of the season 1 design, but I think it’s a nice combination since the mainline IDW Transformers continuity didn’t delve into anything such like the Transmetals.
@@PerspectiveEnd I only found about Tarantulas being a student of Shockwave by reading the TFWiki, so I don’t know if ever shown in the comics; maybe it was said somewhere.
I kinda wanna get this, but after the sexy- i mean cool design of tarantulas in earth spark, ill wait on that figure, but knowing that its a kid show, the figures quality might not be the best Edit: well considering his charecter in the show, hes absolutely getting a figure
I had a feeling that the Wave 2 Legacy figures were going to be covered next (now that I think about, and I don't want to rush you, is there going to be a What's the Best: Legacy Wave 1?). And I'm thinking about getting Legacy Elita-1. (I still have no interest in the rest of the Legacy line (because I'm thinking about scaling down the collecting for a bit), especially since I have the Kingdom Blackarachnia.)
Among mainline releases, yeah, I think that it is the third ever. But there was an exclusive Tarantulas (either from a convention or the subscription service) that was a repaint of Combiner Wars Rook...that like several other convention exclusives, was supposed to be his Cybertronian form. 😒😒😒
@@PerspectiveEnd I thought it would be like with Blackarachnia, where the transformation would be weird, and it wouldn't end up looking right, and now after this review, non-blast-compatible-legs aside ... It's a pretty good figure. And, you know... Purple green and black is a jam
I got this a few weeks ago bc turantules is My favorite character from beast wars (i dont really know why i just really enjoyed every moment he was onscreen) and yae this is absolutly fantastic also My brother has arachnophopia so he is terrified (i cant spell that word) of the spider mode (i probaply shouldnt have told him that there Are real spiders the exact size of this figure)
I think they did consider realise tarantulas in kingdom but for what ever reason they held him back for legacy. My theory is that they wanted to put him in the golden disk line during kingdom but got replaced by one of the other characters maybe terrasaur or the repaint of tigatron.
The sculpting on this figure makes Tarantulas look like the most jacked scientist in all of Transformers.

Nice! Congrats! I know you will love it.
Legacy (Beast Wars) Inferno looks like another micro masterpiece!!
Inferno needs to be released some time this decade damn it.
I’m really happy with this guy though, even if his wrists are too high up they still look really great overall
I also remember watching beast wars last year and remember disliking tarantulus’ design a lot, I found his transmetal form sooooo much better. But once I saw this figure I was just drawn to it. Idk how I like the design more here now but I do so yay
Huh, now that you mention it yeah that is missing.
I wonder what caused you to not like this initially.
@@PerspectiveEnd yea I’m really not sure. Because this figure seems really accurate and I love it. I’m currently rewatching beast wars and I like the design so yea really not sure what I was thinking. Maybe because I liked his transmetal design so much and it made me dislike the original, idk
Can't wait for the true best Legacy figure:
Star Saber!
Can't wait for you to review him!
Facts
Well that's more of haslab not legacy
@@razorshark6790 Its marketed under Legacy
@@Starshine13131 it is?
It's not a Legacy Figure though, it's a Haslab figure. Doesn't matter if it's marked as Legacy, that's just cause it took this long to come out.
Shockwave is a “spider” tank. Nowadays, maybe that’s what his alt mode was on cybertron
Honestly it would make a surprising ammount of sense for him to be a spider everywhere he went.
I got tarantulas recently and I absolutely love him he’s a perfect spider for Halloween
Absolutely an Incredible Halloween boi.
How could kingdom skip on Tarantulas? He’s like one of the most important cast members in the show.
Thank you for saying, “stand in his own ass.” That is hilarious. 😂
Glad someone appreciated that.
They got a good amount of these kingdom/legacy beastwars guys right.
Some I wish were better for sure. Tarantulas they nailed. Can't wait to get one
Yeah, some of them really could have been better like Rhinox, or Scorponok, but Tarantulas, I couldn't ask for more.
This is something I didn't know, but at the same time, these are some pretty thin parts, I cant see it as having been a concern here.
A bad mold will mess with tolerances and cause bleeding on the separation lines, but shouldn't cause excessive warping, which is what I often see on the line-filler and "impulse buy"-tier repaints where it's obvious Hasbro didn't give a damn.
i love his earthspark design with the Australian accent
I had yet to hear him in the show, so I didn't know he had an Australian accent?
I’ve been going back and forth on buying this guy for a while, but DAMMIT, now you’ve convinced me to get him
I think you will enjoy him in the end.
I saw the face in the backpack for the first time in this video and I cannot unsee it.
Yeah it funny looking.
I’ve been watching beast wars and you’re right about everything I don’t notice the animation anymore and I’m only on episode 3
Legacy tarantulas reminds me of why I love the beast wars predacon designs and... God how could I forget this figure existed. welp time to get one I guess. Great vid mate!
Do you not love the Beast Wars Maximal Designs?
I mean yeah but there's something so badass about the insect/arachnid designs that tickles my fancy... Well excluding black arachnia. Too much spider tibby... And that's a thought I shouldn't have put into my head
Man this has been a great two years for beast wars here’s to hoping that hasbro will eventually give us season 2 characters
Yeah it's been the best 2 years for Beast wars in the last 25.
@@PerspectiveEnd 👏👏👏great job hasbro, nailed it👏👏👏
Now fingers crossed for a marvel comics accurate scrounge
I mean the chances aren't 0 but I wouldn't expect him to be his own mold.
@@PerspectiveEnd I completely agree with that let’s hope Earthspark will be good
I cannot wait for my copy of this figure!
14 days is pretty typical for shipping, that's not too much worse than a lot of what I have to deal with if I'm not buying through Amazon.
i recently found out tarantuals got a botcon exclusive figure
so no he did get a figure in recent years
This is a pretty exceptional figure. I'm glad you liked him. I've been flat out an got like two weeks worth o your shiz to catch up on.
What do you mean you've been flat out?
Anyways I hope you have a good time with your catch up.
@@PerspectiveEnd hahaha that must be an Australian colloquialism. Short for flat out like a lizard drinking. It just means real busy.
I can't say I've ever been in the Market for a Devcon my self, but I'm sure people would pick it up.
The best Legacy deluxe so far as it should be. Great review.
Thank you! And yeah it probably is.
well I guess that both you and roadbuster would agree that this figure is...
...MINDBLOWING
That's a great Ba Dum Tsch moment.
This guy was more of a second in command in season 1 than scorponok (like the marvel comics shockwave)
Traitorous, dangerous and sometimes managing to top their megs except that shockwave was more succesful than tarantulas
Yeah, he was definitely more RELIABLE than the actual Second in Command.
I LOVE tarantulas, hes my all time favorite transformers character, and when they revealed this figure i was hyped, and this is from everyone i hear a great figure, and yet he havent arrived here once, most of wave 2 didnt make it here and even when i went outside of my country i still never found him
I'm sorry to hear that, yeah they're not good at the distribution anymore.
Stuff takes years to get around the world now.
This is honestly my favourite legacy figure
Fuck it
All the legacy figures i own are my favourite
I know how you feel.
I am just loving chug again now. I know people love kingdom, but I was so disinterested because my stores would never get the good figures. But legacy is just what I want in a line.
How does legacy fix your stores not carrying a lot of the stuff?
@@PerspectiveEnd ok well my stores just skipped kingdom basically
The accuracy is amazing, but that tarantula mode is what truly sold me on this figure. I can use that to scare sooooo many people. My girlfriend is def gonna hate it. I can't buy it rn cuz I'm no longer working while I'm in college, but it'll be worth the wait for when I am able to buy it :)
That's the classic 90s Kid reason. So many toys were sold back then on the notion that they'd creep out girls.
As a shockwave collector, you've given me all the reason I need to collect this one.
He is something like the Predicon version of Shockwave yes.
Nice! Congratulations. Hope you love them all.
Here because PE predicted the Shockwave/Tarantulus Combo team we’ve been waiting for in EarthSpark
I don't know how I keep doing this.
My brother had this theory that the majority of the original beast wars characters were descendents of some of G1 characters. For instance:
-cheetor -> hot rod
-primal -> prime
-rattrap -> bumblebee (somehow haha)
-tarantulas -> shockwave
-terrasaur -> starscream
Rattrap is actually confirmed to be descended from Arcee.
But yeah all of those do make sense.
“Umm actually it was shown in the show that waspinator is starscream” - 🤓🤓🤓
(I have genuinely never seen the show)
I did have the chance to pick this up at a mall when I got Wild Rider and Knock Out, but they were charging essentially Voyager prices for them due to mall overhead/scarcity so I had to leave Tarantalus and Elita-1 for the future, plus it would probably be unfair to deny another collector as they had only one of each out at the time.
I am not hearing good things about wildrider so that's a bit of a disappointment it sounds like.
It’s not bad; some minor issues with the joints [specifically in the hips] wanting to stay in set positions without having soft ratchets. A minor step down from Drag Strip but worth it, at least for me.
this is s Frist figur i got before your so o got Frist hand inspection and he is a awesome but I still love your review
Why would having the figure already make you not like the review?
I'm glad you still did, but I don't know what that would change it.
He’s so good that I might get the version in the Cliffjumper pack. I hope they fix the legs falling off because it is so annoying to deal with
So I’ve started watching beast wars and well… it’s fucking awesome! I’m now even more excited for my tarantulas to arrive because I really like the character now
I am always thrilled to hear that someone became convinced to give the show a chance.
@@PerspectiveEnd thanks
1:52 The closest we ever got to having Tarantulas related, in a way, to Shockwave was in the initial run of the IDW comics, where Tarantulas was said to be an avid student of Shockwave.
Though speaking of IDW Tarantulas, do you think it would be cool to get a figure based off his design? Truthfully, the design is just the Transmetal design with the organic aspect of the season 1 design, but I think it’s a nice combination since the mainline IDW Transformers continuity didn’t delve into anything such like the Transmetals.
I don't remember that, but at least it was something.
I would love an IDW Tarantulas, though I'd like an IDW everyone.
@@PerspectiveEnd I only found about Tarantulas being a student of Shockwave by reading the TFWiki, so I don’t know if ever shown in the comics; maybe it was said somewhere.
Now this is figure of the year material
It's probably going to be in there yeah.
I kinda wanna get this, but after the sexy- i mean cool design of tarantulas in earth spark, ill wait on that figure, but knowing that its a kid show, the figures quality might not be the best
Edit: well considering his charecter in the show, hes absolutely getting a figure
I've not gotten to him yet, but I've seen the design and it's easily the best one in the show.
@@PerspectiveEnd the more mechanical style and the mandibles are soo good
I had a feeling that the Wave 2 Legacy figures were going to be covered next (now that I think about, and I don't want to rush you, is there going to be a What's the Best: Legacy Wave 1?).
And I'm thinking about getting Legacy Elita-1. (I still have no interest in the rest of the Legacy line (because I'm thinking about scaling down the collecting for a bit), especially since I have the Kingdom Blackarachnia.)
Shame about arachnophobia.
At least Blackarachnia (and to an extent Airachnid) are total babes (when not in spider form).
And now I'm tempted to watch Charlotte's Web.
Yes, I plan there to be a Wave 1 but I keep forgetting about doing it. I'm dumb.
Airachnid didn't turn into a Spider though.
@@PerspectiveEnd Well, she did (as a triple changer) in the now-cancelled IDW2 continuity.
This figure looks so damn good, my only criticism is that in his tarantula mode he looks like the small and cute spider from Disney.
Are you talking about Lucas the Spider? I don't think that's from Disney.
@@PerspectiveEnd Ya Lucas the spider!
epic hope they add cover for his chest and spider legs with blast effects for arachnia aswell
Im sure there will be an upgrade kit for this.
All hail the true king of your Discord server, for his 8 legged legacy shall be eternal!
All hail!
Gonna say this is one of the best transformers that come out as of late. Cant wait for inferno and transmetal 2 megs.
I'd tend to agree, it's exactly what it needs to be.
Hey man, just gotta say; get 86 wheelie. Just a little fiddly desk thing, lovely little guy
He is remarkably fun yes.
Ferocious Showdown: Dinobot vs. Tarantulas
They are painted quite well.
Oooh, I think kingdom megatron is about to have some competition
He does a bit yes.
I almost wonder if the sawblade isn’t kind of supposed to fill in for the upcoming Knockout, sort of how soundwave came with megatrons back barrel
I don't know why that would come with this, when it's by far the more expensive mold to make, what with it being unique and all.
“And I’d like a fillet o fish please, with fries LOT’S OF FRIES” Alec willows taurantulas voice actor botcon 2000
I don't think I've seen that particular QnA.
Yeah someone asked him and cheetor and black arachinas voice actor to read a McDonald’s menu
Among mainline releases, yeah, I think that it is the third ever. But there was an exclusive Tarantulas (either from a convention or the subscription service) that was a repaint of Combiner Wars Rook...that like several other convention exclusives, was supposed to be his Cybertronian form. 😒😒😒
Tarantulas looks really cool. I'd say most of beast wars has good designs.
There are people who don't think so, but I love the designs.
Tarantulus is one that I didn't think I'd ever desire and now... I want. Badly.
Also I want that saw for reasons 👀
Why didn't you think you'd want tarantulas?
@@PerspectiveEnd I thought it would be like with Blackarachnia, where the transformation would be weird, and it wouldn't end up looking right, and now after this review, non-blast-compatible-legs aside ... It's a pretty good figure.
And, you know... Purple green and black is a jam
Tarantulas is easily my all time favorite beast wars character and holy shit i need this figure, i will murder for it
I love him a lot, he was a ton of fun, but I can't say he's my favorite of the show.
I love this figure so much.
As do I.
Oh yeah, there are Spiders even bigger too.
And I mean I get why, he is a very fun character. Just so cool.
So my tarantulas arrived and it’s just as good as you said I cannot keep my hands off of it
I am so happy to hear that.
@@PerspectiveEnd good
Dam he is a fantastic figure, perfect tarantulas
Indeed he is.
I think they did consider realise tarantulas in kingdom but for what ever reason they held him back for legacy. My theory is that they wanted to put him in the golden disk line during kingdom but got replaced by one of the other characters maybe terrasaur or the repaint of tigatron.
But why would they replace him in that line?
@@PerspectiveEnd probably for terrasaur i know it’s dumb
Finally got him, his insect legs are strong enough to support his body!
Indeed they are. How are you enjoying it otherwise?
@@PerspectiveEnd It's great, except two of the legs love to fall off, and the basically hidden Predacon symbol.
I really like this figure.... gonna get it sometime this year.
Happy hunting.
