Wait a minute... tan and purple?... triple changer?... land and air alt modes?... weapon near the head?... Blitzwing... WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO YOURSELF!?
While the rest of the world has been going nuts over the return of Spider-Man, our true hero, the Plastic Addict has arrived, just when we needed him most!
It's so weird hearing the plastic addicts cadence and attitude after being so used to normal TJ. But it's good to have the addict back, even if it's just every once in a while.
Honestly, with the open hand and the open mouth, to me he looks like he's constantly singing opera. Also, really good call on using Hot Shot, instead of Raid for the bug spray. That legit made me laugh really hard.
When I was a child, I wouldn't care. I was an easy child that no matter what, every birthday and Christmas, my parents would give me Beast Wars characters. Even though all the wrappings are the same shapes, it was a mystery on who they got me. And when they got me this guy, I was still happy because I loved Beast Wars
@@SwedishSeacon As if that wasn't bad enough, in his review of Transquito, Runestone states that Transquito's robot mode "feels like an homage to David Cronenberg's take on The Fly".
I like the Japanese version of this personally, cause at least that one was a Maximal. Since in Japan they love insects, so majority of the insect Predacons were turned into Maximals there with cooler heroic colors.
But last I checked, even mosquitoes aren't very high on their list. Beetles like Ramhorn and Bombshell, and grasshoppers like Kickback, sure. But mosquitoes? I know about Bigmos, but still.
@@diegodankquixote-wry3242 Ah yeah it's like the super sentai mech Seppujin, that one has GPS on the blue dolphin cause even though it's blue, it shines gold due to them mixing gold plastic with it.
My brother had one of these for YEARS and generally liked it. For years we pronounced his name Tran-skwee-toh cos of the "qui" part. It wasn't until this video (technically yesterday's Plastic Addict retrospective) that i heard his name said as Tran-skee-toh. It makes sense cos Mosquito says the "squi" as skee, not skwee.
I remember being at a KB toys in 2001 at the Mall of America during a school trip and seeing both B'Boom and Transquito. I bought the Transquito because it was a mosquito, and I wanted every beast wars toy that had bug heads as chests in robot mode. Where I lived in Canada, I saw tons of mosquitos, but no Transquitos. Transquito is probably the only toy in my collection that I didn't buy second hand, that has the English only packaging as opposed to the English French Spanish packaging, as I bought that in the states, whereas the rest of it, I bought in Canada. Either they never put Transquitos in shelves in Canada, or people love Transquitos in Canada that they sold out.
I tried to plug the peg into the hole in the arm with my cold hands, and I broke the edge of the hole on one of the arms. The toy isn't compromised by that part breaking off though. The purple plastic is more fragile than the gold plastic. Kind of like TM megatron. The toy has gold plastic, but it is the brown plastic that is brittle. In Transquito's case, it is the purple plastic. Compared to Bigmos's aquamarine plastic, the purple plastic is stronger.
I love how this totally gold plastic f-er doesn't have any GPS Yet its redeco Bigmos have it. On parts that's not even gold. Or yellow. It's like It's a Curse for anything around it.
I think Transquito is fine. Is fragile and the colors are not that appealing but I like the articulation and the fact that he was a new Mega Class insect Predacon. Glad to have Plastic Addict back though, especially covering Beast Wars.
I can't believe my man is getting thrown under the bus so hard 😂 I always loved Transquito; although I'm ashamed to admit that after having a few of them over the last couple...decades...I never knew why the wings opened up until this exact moment
Such a questionable design for a beast figure. I can see why it shelf warmed as it got a bit of a creepy and gross vibe to it. Sheesh. This was a good episode and a nice return!
I've been watching plastic attic since I was in grade school now I'm a college graduate they still hit just as hard as they did back then 😂Thank you for years of phenomenal content my brother whether it's plastic attic or not thank you
Okay. THIS was an excellent Christmas gift! Not Transquito himself, I would have raged, but the return of Plastic Addict and we now even get Plastic Rehab!
8:44 “Transquito thinks bug-brained nephew is huge disappointment to Predacon cause. Transquito take matters into own hands…” - Transquito before sharing Waspinator’s tragic fate of constantly being blown to scrap
I was so looking forward to this and I wasn't disappointed! This has made my Christmas Day and here's to more Plastic Addict episodes when you have the time to do them TJ!
Ironically for me, none of the stores I ever went to stocked this guy. Then again, I lived in West Virginia, so mosquitoes weren't exactly popular in the mountains, either.
The fun thing about Transquito is that his Beast Mode incorporates traits exclusive to both male and female mosquitoes, meaning that the specimen he got his Beast Mode from was apparently a hermaphrodite. Only male mosquitoes have the feathered antennae to help them detect the wing beats of females while only female mosquitoes have a proboscis because the blood they suck feeds their young. I'm sure this was completely unintentional on the designer's part but it does add that extra layer to his name.
It’s crazy I was literally in middle school last time I watched Plastic Addict. So great to see it make a little come back with that same ol intro music.
12:08 Don't think I didn't notice the brand name on that can of insecticide. Although it is kinda weird, as last night I was reading the TFWiki page on trademarks and found out that "Megatron" is also the name of a car battery and a Yu-Gi-Oh card...
Yeah and fittingly said Megatron got curbstomped out of the Meta within a month or two then made a couple returns with each being more annoying than the last.
The car battery makes sense. There's little chance that a consumer will confuse a car battery for a transforming robot toy, so both companies get to keep the trademarks for their respective fields. Yu-Gi-Oh was a little more complicated. Konami probably would've been allowed to use the name in the TCG, since Hasbro didn't own the Megatron trademark for cards, but they elected not to release that card in the US either way. They also didn't release any toys of the Space Megatron Duel Monster, either, because that would've definitely been a trademark violation.
@@OptimusPhillip On the one hand, Hasbro eventually released Transformers MtG cards, so they probably pressured Konami behind closed doors. But on the other hand, Konami have a long history of completely renaming cards between the OCG and TCG, so this might've just been apathy and/or laziness on their part.
Honestly, if I were a Kenner exec in 1996 and someone came to me pitching the idea of a giant transforming mosquito as the next big thing in Beast Wars, I'd have fired him. Out of a cannon.
Gotta say, Mister Plastic Addict hasn’t missed a step! A very funny critical review that actually managed to be informative at the same time. I LOVE Transquito and I was thrilled to find him back in 1997…but TJ nailed it on all the complaints. 😁
To be fair, the mid 90s was the height of what I call the "gross out" age. Everyone from toy makers to kids cartoons were trying one up each other in the "gross" factor because thats what was popular at the time. Almost every toyline of every property had at least one with some sort of slime gimmick and shows like ren and stimpy and rockos modern life were popular. I still remember that one toy commerical for a toy called creepy crawlers that let you create edible fruit gummies in the shape of various insects, spiders and scorpions. The commerical proclaiming "creeeEEEEEEeeeeeeepppyy crawlers!!! is so memorable. So a toy mosquito isn't too far out there for this era.
Woo! I have waited ages for the return of the plastic addict, an amazing xmas gift to the viewers for sure! Though I admit when I was younger I did have this toy, for about a week, mine wouldnt transform back into insect mode properly, so I ended up getting a transmetal megatron lol
transquito was my first transformer, and when i was little i loved him so much! im honestly really happy to hear that he hasn't been hit by gold plastic syndrome
I really enjoyed this installment! Special props on that new synth wave intro graphic. I must admit Transquito has always been a guilty pleasure. The muscle face is a bit of an ugly characteristic, but it also gives him a certain charm that you didn’t see in bigger beast wars figs. The missile gimmick was more associated with fuzzors and other weird deluxes as I recall. I will pick up an old figure eventually, wouldn’t mind getting a Generations Selects retool of Inferno (or even a deluxe Waspinator reimagining) to bring Transquito back. In any case, Tigerhawk, Depthcharge, Rampage, and my boy Polarclaw are higher on my wishlist.,
This was the best christmas gift i've received in awhile. You still got it TJ, super happy to see the series make such a strong return amongst the new (and considerably enjoyable) vids you're posting. Can't wait to see what else you've got in mind.

I am so damn thrilled!
describing mosquitoes as “little flying scalpers” is both the best description of mosquitoes and scalpers i have ever heard
Well they both are blood sucking monsters that seek to remove the joy from the universe.
Agreed.
Plastic Addict? That's a name I've not heard in a long, long time.
“Do you know him?”
“Of course I know him, he’s me!”
What’s funny is that tj here is the only one I know that actually knows my childhood: balling up to try to “transform”
I spent all my life and my time for this great moment,i'm crying and shocking now tbh
It's so weird hearing the plastic addicts cadence and attitude after being so used to normal TJ.
But it's good to have the addict back, even if it's just every once in a while.
Ok, that opening joke was pretty funny, he found a shelfwarmer and it sat so long it was hot and burned him, he then used a fire extinguisher. Genius.
"little flying scalpers" don't insult the noble mosquito, by comparing them to those _things_
Honestly, with the open hand and the open mouth, to me he looks like he's constantly singing opera.
Also, really good call on using Hot Shot, instead of Raid for the bug spray. That legit made me laugh really hard.
"I'm Bumblebee!"

This was one of the three Beast Wars figures I owned, and I LOVED IT. It is a great toy.
If Transquito was in the show, he'd be an even bigger joke than Waspinator.
It's the first Transformer that actually changed into a full scale Louisiana mosquito.
It is also one of the few Transformers toys that has actually scared the living crap out of Baltmatrix because of how accurate the mosquito form is
