    We have seen 2 incredible days in the game of golf from 2 of our heros: JACK NICKLAUS WINNING THE 1986 MASTERS and TIGER WOODS WINNING THE 2019 MASTERS and both in dramatic fashions! Jack has been steady his whole life with the same teacher, Jack Grout, who is from the same lineage of teachers as Bobby Jones. Tiger has run the gamut with over 6 teachers and finally settling on himself and his anatomical needs after having been afflicted by a laundry list of injuries requiring several surgeries and a bout of addiction to pain killers. His last spine fusion, which we think was the best thing that ever happened to him, brought him back from the abyss and we are hoping and praying he stays long enough to fulfill his goals.

    I have a couple of ideas for new videos: (1) What are some tips for keeping the picture of the task in your mind’s eye when you are set up over the ball and not looking at the target? (2) Does the extent in which one opens (for a fade) or closes (draw) change as you go from wedges to mid-irons to long irons?

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jim! We have the answers to this in spades on our premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com and the title of the videos there are “target confirmation series” and “pre-motor cortex series” and the “fade fine tuning” and “draw fine tuning” video are top freaking notch!

    There are many nuggets of wisdom in this video. A formidable case for the argument of heel up vs heel down in the backswing; I hope you all enjoy and have the chance to try very soon for yourself! Shawn

  • @quoostonator
    @quoostonator 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'll add here that if you have a dodgy lead knee, that heel off the ground really helps a lot. I simply can't rotate my lead knee it to facilitate a full back swing as a result of a few bad sporting injuries and subsequent knee operations. Once the heel left the ground, it was all good 👌🏻
    Thanks Shawn, great vid!

    Every time I have a thought you have a video on it. Squat move. If I lift the heel I can’t get it. I’ve went from 25+ handicap to my new pr of 6.8 just watching your videos there’s still more there but now I’m watching the videos for confirmation more than learning

    Hi Shawn, I am again starting to lift my heel in the back swing for a still better turn. My head wants to move a bit going into the full turn. Alongwith the head, the eyes also.

      Do not let the eyes go! They stay so that you never loose sight of the intermediate point to keep your arc-blur in place!

    Getting this right, was amazed. Par 3 140 usually a pw and was spray and pray full out. I hit an entire grocery bag of shag balls because it clicked and I was hitting a pw 160 into the water behind the green. No one was on course so I just kept doing it. Now what used to feel like a 3/4 swing I’m hitting green with pw at about 135-145 carry but I feel like I can control it just by going and getting the ground. Started carrying driver 290 have gotten up to 327 but I still have the early extension from time to time that’s still messing up my handicap only get it when I don’t focus and lift and slam the heel comes back

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  ปีที่แล้ว

      Early extension is NOT a defect in the swing; it is a lapse in focus where you lost the direction you were supposed to send the task into! STAY WITH THE SHOT AND TARGET!

    From Mu's hole in one to Savy's beautiful pivot and Shawn's analytical descriptions this video is a masterpiece. Matt Wolf has the best lower body pivot ever. That unique across the line position at the top is a direct result of him maxing out that right wrist pronation at the top. No wonder he hits the ball a country mile and is very accurate. If you study Matt's swing you will notice he lifts that left heel off the ground big time and yes he squats as good as Snead. In my opinion these moves are undoubtedly the reason he is a pga tour winner. The only question which remains is will he get rich ,fat and lazy or will he push forward with determination and drive to be one of the best. Dunno ? Something about old dogs yep I love Reese too. :)

    I find myself in a quandary. I like the idea of lifting the heel but it has to happens consciously, in my case. I am not able to make it seamless/so automatic(or whatever:)) where my focus of going to target does not get affected.

    Dude!! I just emailed you about this. Haha. Thanks for the detailed explanation.
    I guess my question now is: If Mu carries his 8i at 170+ HEEL DOWN, will his carry go further if he goes HEEL UP?
    The reason I ask is because I want to get more juice out of my driver.

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mu is enjoying his own evolution in the game right now and getting way more consistent as a ball striker and enjoying some nice power and compression; we need to allow him to EVOLVE with his task and let his own brain and body figure it out at 40 million bits per second. As for you, do you feel you are getting a velocity of at least 7/10 with driver at an effort level that is lower than 5 out of 10? Meaning you could swing like that all day and not get hurt and get up the next morning and do it again?

    • @per_growth
      @per_growth 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@golflessons I will have to figure that one out. Usually my back feels pretty sore/stiff the day after a round.

  • @rossfulton1047
    @rossfulton1047 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    At the beginning you seem to suggest that it’s easier for Mu to keep his lead heel down because he’s trail arm dominant. Does that mean it’s harder to do so if you’re lead arm dominant? Should someone that is a backhander lean then towards lifting the lead heel? Thanks!

    Hi Shawn, I was taught to grip the club when the hands are in a position of letting the arms hang naturally when in golf posture. I notice your students here have extremely strong grips. Is this what you recommend? How do they not hit a huge hook with a full release?

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, that is because we are collecting the ball from where is sits and we are delivering the ball to the direction we want to send it! Deep release THROUGH THE BALL. Neutral grips tend to release AT THE BALL. See “through the ball shawn clement”
