No gas guzzler tax, carbon ceramic brake included, AWD for cold weather climate, faster quarter mile than Z06, instant torque from push rod engine and electric motor, understated good look. I think there are plenty of reasons to go with E ray over Z06.
Bruh.... I understand putting the Z06 in the "S Tier".... but HOW can you place the Stingray in the Same Tier as the E-Ray???? Just because they Share an Engine?
I've driven all 3 C8s. This is the most old man cruiser for sure. The regular C8 rides damn near as well as a Cadillac, the Z06 is Porsche-like, stiff as it needs to be but still somehow nice. The E-Ray is inbetween, the acceleration is ridiculous, ride is good, and the AWD is a genuinely different feel in corners. For the price its a steep ask imo.
Here’s my dilemma. I love my C8 Z06 and the sound, but I don’t like the low torque. I like the ERay and its torque, but the price (to me) seems too close to the price of the Z06, but it is still a pretty good price for the car and the 0-60 performance. There’s not much data on the reliability of either. The flat plane crank (Z06) and the front electric motor (ERay) are both pretty new technology in the Corvettes. At the end of the day, both cars are good bang for the buck. Great review and video.
The E-Ray doesn’t really outshine or usurp the Z06, because it’s just so different from the latter. The Z06 potentially being the last production N/A FPC V8 we ever see makes it wholly special, and it’s a proper pure bred race car, per what Misha has spoken about it. The E-Ray is your GT super car of the Corvette pantheon, the car for someone who just wants to chill, but will have more than enough power to smash most other cars on the road. It’s a better NSX, essentially. What GM have done so far is offer considerably different flavors of Corvette for their customers, similar to Porsche in a way. Want a great all around sports car that you can daily? The Stingray is perfect for that. Want a raw, emotional, and unbelievably fast track war machine? Get the Z06. Want more of a luxury grand tourer with gobs of power everywhere? The E-Ray fits the bill. And, I’m sure the ZR1 will be your GT2/GT2 RS of Corvettes, like it’s always been; a brutal powerhouse. It’s an approach that’s working incredibly well for GM so far. If only they could build enough of them!
Hey Miles, I don’t know quite how I’ve been missing you (because I check out just about every c8 corvette channel on TH-cam) but I have to say your communication skills and content are the best I’ve ever run across! Please keep your content coming!!!( … a new subscriber)
I think I actually like this modern version Batmobile.... it's the best looking of the C8s and with the hard top convertible... Corvette may have created an unexpected hero!
Excellent review! Just something to keep in mind about the convertible vs coupe (whether it’s the standard Stingray, Z06, or E-Ray), when you have the roof off in the coupe and store it in the trunk you lose a lot of your trunk space to the roof panel. When the convertible is open and roof is down, you don’t lose that trunk space.
E-Ray comes STANDARD with carbon ceramic brakes. So that might come in as a consideration when comparing pricing to the Z06 (where those are a very costly option).
@@CarswithMilesI think around the 10:30 mark, the background music and the car sound was little too much interfering with your voice. I know you want to showcase how the car sounds, but I think that can be done in parts with less speech. And you know, I’ve heard you on the studio channel as well, there the it sounds much more natural or maybe more rich I guess. I’m not a sound editor or anything, but that’s just what I noticed. The new video is much better in that regards I must say.
The Eray! Great review of this “decoupled axle” of a vehicle. Two axles speaking to each other by software ONLY. Phenomenal tech! “Podiumed” P2 in FAT International Ice Race in Aspen, Feb 2024. Thanks for posting. I’m new to the channel. Love it! I’ll be back!

@@dlj1285 1st yes the C8 is ugly, but specifically the E-Ray acc looks like a proper car should and excluding the back side it actually looks good, it's also not over styled compared to the other trims, but yeah, factory-ish American Koenigsegg
I'll take the eRay any day of the week, and so will most people. The reason is the fun of driving the car is you're getting off the line, and it does it better than a z06. The other side is it rides better than the Z06, which GM even says is made more for a track type of car than a daily driver. ERay brakes are also better.
I am quite confused with your statement and comments of and in this video. The title of the video states the E-Ray a Supercar. However you state you don’t know if it should be a supercar but it has Hypercar performance. Maybe if you defined what a supercar & a hypercar then I would not be confused. Also I don’t understand why yourself and most TH-camrs in the car space throw out the words “daily driver”. Can you please define that. Is daily driving mean using your vehicle 2 miles a day or 80 miles a day. Then we all can get a better understanding on what you mean by this.
I'd go with the MC20 for looks and rare-factor. But E-Ray for literally everything else. It's noticably quicker, more usable year-round and costs thousands of dollars less. It's a phenomenal value.
Very possibly the best GT car in the world right now regardless of price. Its still the GTLM mass produced chassis with literally every feature imaginable, and it all works like a Swiss watch. Y chassis cars are technically unbeatable from the time the frame is made. GMs magride in combination with spring rate is all you have to know how to tune these cars. GM is giving so much regardless of price, that its inconceivable the engineering that went into these vehicles.
Well done. After your vid, I am ordering 2025 E-Ray over Z06. I am a daily driver C8 guy. Currently I own a 2021 C8 Z51 now and want more. Both cars (E-Ray & Z06) have "more" but only one is not meant for the track. And that's me. Ive driven on COTA with the current car and - well - that was fun but not me. Rode in a Z06 recently and LOVED it. Somewhat of a remembering of my GT350 ownership except killing it with excel-aeration over the GT350. Not sure about the excel spell check there. Anyhow, thank you for the review. Actually felt you gave a level review and there was no bias. That's why I subscribed.
Wow what a beautiful speck the blue egg or a badge with the blue interior plus the blue stripes just sell it but I think they missed the mark on the exterior color they should have gone with Ceramic matrix Gray metallic. That color has some blue hues to it. Great review 👍
@karmasai .... It DOESN'T Have a Driveshaft Tube! The Engine AND Transmission are Both in the Rear of the car, and it doesn't Physically Connect to the Electric Motor up Front! The reason they even Have that area is for Structural Rigidity (and to put the Battery in), Not for a Driveshaft!
@@STAK_22 it doesn't have a driveshaft. the chassis does have a center route which could fit a driveshaft. I'm calling it a driveshaft tube for lack of a better name.
There are already cars out there that do the straight line power trick, for a lot of weight. My Tesla model Y performance. But its heavy. Why do we want heavy sports cars again?
Given the price of the Eray, the better deal is a Z06. I was on an Eray list at my dealer until it came out. I was not looking for Z06-like performance, but rather a demonstration of what GM could do with a hybrid Vette (40+ mpg). I am holding out for a C8 Grand Sport to replace my 19 GS.
Bro, the E-Ray IS what the Grand Sport was (Stingray engine, with Z06 Body) .... They're NOT going to make a separate Grand Sport! (And btw, if your '19 Grand Sport is a Manual, then you NEED to Not EVER Replace it!)
Hybrid doesn't mean that the engine and the electric motor are integrated. It means that there are 2 or more different methods of propulsion. A moped is a hybrid, for example. You can have either a series (integrated) or parallel (separate) hybrid. The E-Ray is a parallel hybrid as the engine and motor are not connected, as you mentioned.
