I’ve got those but the actual 1998 ones. The slip case ones came out in 2001. Same remasters but on metal-is label instead of plain sanctuary records. Great collection btw. I’ve never popped any of them in a pc to check the extras.

@@VicariousVideoz Wasn't this American set released in 2002? The European set was released in 98 without outer slipcases i believe.
@@CBT5777 Yeah. You are right. I was confused because the copyright on the discs says 1998. After I saw your comment I did a little research and they were in fact released in 2002. Thanks for your bringing that to my attention.
You inspired me! When I saw this video I had 4 CD’s with the slip cases I now have all of them . Live at Donnington and a Real live dead one were real hard to find . I’m now working on the digi pak collection. I also bought maiden England and Maiden Japan which are great live albums! I’ve seen the whole set for about 200 but they don’t have the slip cases. I think they slip cases make the collection a lot cooler! I paid 55 bucks for a real live dead one but who cares I’ve got them all now!! Up the Irons!!

I got seven of them from that collection. Now I want to put the collection together is almost impossible to find. Anyway, congrats on getting it.
Some were way harder to find than others. Discogs was a big help in completing the set. Good luck!

I've never seen the 98 Remasters in these Sleeves before, ever. Not in a store or elsewhere. I bought most of these back then and have them all in that late-90s version.
Sure CD-ROM technology is considered old but in 2022 this still looks amazing. All Labels & Artists should do this again & Operating Systems should make all computers compatible to use it (or make all discs "dual sided cd/dvd") This could work in bringing big sales back to a new generation.

Your average friends / family do not care for physical media. Also electronics like blu-ray and CD player will be totally obsolete, or cost a fortune because less people will spend their money on them. This accelerates the prices of the media (CDs) as well. The prices has doubled on CDs in Europe, because less is buying, and then they need to charge more to cover costs. In regard of Iron Maiden vinyl records. Apart from the originals I have, when the 2015-remasters came out on vinyl records, they have tripled in price. The old original vinyl records still sounds the best. Secondly the 2015-remaster vinyl records - these sounds better that the streaming (yes, they are mastered for digital streaming) and the CDs (yes, these are mastered differently from both vinyl records and streaming) - these are different mediums.
If you can, always go for the vinyl records (80s pressings). Secondly if you need to go CD, get the 80s CDs - they are still reasonable priced. Otherwise, get the 2015-remasters. Back to vinyl records, for the post 2000 Iron Maiden work, it doesn't matter that much as Kevin Shirley's mixes is crap anyway. 🤟😂

The 1998-remasters is completely squashed with compressors, and sounds utter garbage (check the drums especially). I own all these remasters, the 80s original CDs and all the 2015-remasters. If you can't get the 80s originals at thrift stores (usually the codes starts with CDP....), get the 2015-remasters as these sounds the closest to the originals.
The 2015 are meant for the Spotify and Apple Music crowd. They are even more compressed than the 1998 ones. I’ve compared them through the frequency spectrum software. But I can guarantee that at the same volume you listen to any of them 2015 ones, leave for a half hour. Come back and you wouldn’t be able to tell if they are playing you a 1998 version or a 2015 in a blind test. You wouldn’t know the difference. Specially if you’re over 30.

Remastered garbage with a ridiculous decision to alter the magnificent debut cover art and ‘No Prayer For The Dying’/background sky on ‘Number Of The Beast’.
The original 1980’s CDs sound far superior.
‘Somewhere In Time’ - originally a beautifully produced Martin Birch masterpiece was completely destroyed on those wretched ‘98 remasters.

If you can get a hold of the 1995 reissues I can highly recommend those. EMI in Europe, Castle Music for US. Each had a bonus disc of b-sides/live tracks. Utterly essential, and the original mastering too.
EMI version has the full length ‘Phantom Of The Opera’, and the hi-hat cymbal intro to ‘Killers’ (both missing from the original US CDs). Phantom is also cut on the ‘98.
