Do you struggle with wet frizz too?! I rounded up all the causes + solutions we discussed here over on the blog post, and listed out some of my favorite products for cleansing, moisturizing, and sealing: genamarie.co/2020/09/causes-of-wet-frizz-webbing-how-to-fix-it/
Hi I’m a male with long wavy hair that goes below my chest it feels and looks healthy however I do notice their tends to be a lot of single hairs that don’t lock on to my “wavy locks” and they end up looking like flyaways or frizz would you know if that’s due to my hair being dry or is that normal for people like me and you that have natural curly/wavy hair your help would be much appreciated and love the video.
Thanks for including the explanation of pH! When I've been struggling to find/replace a good conditioner I've used just shampoo then an oil instead of conditioner - never realised that could cause pH balance issues, nor that an a vinegar rinse could help temporarily balance that.
THIS my family doesn’t have my hair type either so it’s really been just them making fun of my hair and telling me to just take care of it which I do A LOT
Tip I learned from my curly hair stylist: if you see that webbing, ADD MORE WATER and a little conditioner and work that through your hair until the water is soaked in. The hair should be heavy, then rinse all the conditioner out and immediately start adding your products while soaked. This has changed my hair so much, basically I learned that conditioner is only meant to be a catalyst to allow your hair to soak in more water
This definitely works! I love adding my products with hair fresh out of the shower. I definitely can’t damp style. It always looked stringy and even more frizzy. My hair is prone to frizz anyways due to the South Florida weather but it was horrible.
"Wow shes so lucky to have curly hair I bet she just gets up and goes" "I bet she just uses some water to make her hair look like that" Reality: *IF U DONT BEHAVE IMMA SHAVE U OFF*
For me my hair is my pride + joy and whenever I put it up in a pony my face looks ugly (in my opinion) so I just wanna take care of it so that I can wear it down without the frizz annoying me-
I have curly hair but I’m a really low maintenance gal and watching curl maintenance videos are torture to me. But you have very easy to digest and organized videos so it makes it that much more helpful. Thank you
Thank you! Totally understand. I try and compile all the tips into one video, however you definitely don't have to do every single one to see results 😊
same here, tbh all I use is a shampoo bar, flaxseedgel (for hydration+definition in my hair) and coconut oil (it nourishes the hair) and my hair looks awesome and its also very eco friendly
Same here. I have a baby and a toddler, work full time, and hardly any expendable money. I don't have the money or time to spend an hour + on my hair with 4 or 5 products that may or may not work.
I have the same problem. I have type 1, type 2, and type 3 curls on my head! They are also different colors and different widths. I have a microscope at work so that's how I know!
My wet frizz tip: If your hair decides to pull a wet frizz prank on you, style it dripping wet and not damp and after it's dry wear it up in a pineapple for a couple of hours for more volume cause wet styling tends to have less volume than damp in most curlies
@Caramel Cupcake I have damaged high porosity hair and mine dries fairly quickly but not totally. I think HP hair actually stays wet longer but it seems dry on the surface because it starts to frizz, etc.
@Caramel Cupcake same. I recently started putting my leave in in my hair while I'm still in the shower &then putting it up, and after I've dried myself a bit i'll use a spray bottle to re-hydrate & add styling products. seems like it's helping a bit but I'm going to do it a bit longer to see if its REALLY heling or if its just wishful thinking haha
@@katfatho5417 Wet plopping is when you apply your products to wet hair then place a plastic cap on your head. This allows all our hair products penetrate deeper and reduce frizz.
I feel like I have to take bio and chem 101 to get my hair to act right. Thanks for all the great tips. There’s so many different variables to either good or bad hair days, but a little (a lot) of trail and error and I might figure this out one day.
I have slightly curly hair and honestly, I don't think anything worse could've happened to me. Watching all these videos make me question how on earth would I ever be able to tame my hair? There is so much chemistry going on. Since when did hair care become so difficult? I have to measure the acids, the base, the proteins, the moisture, thickness and density of my hair and the list goes on and on. I don't understand how a normal person could ever take care of their curly hair without putting in a gazillion products in their hair and praying to God that at least, something works in the end!
Exactly!!! I'm getting anxiety just watching these videos! Just started trying some of these methods, I just gave up a long time ago because I have tried a zillion products and spent a zillion dollars that never solved my frizz problem! Geez! But decided again to see if it was something I missed. Can't say I have much hope, and wondering how they don't get a ton of buildup from all the steps and products that they use with this CG method. lol :)
You don't HAVE to make it complicated if you don't want to. I have wavy hair and I just avoid sulfates and silicones aside from clarifying and look for moisturizing conditioners. They say moisturizing on the bottle. Sure my hair is not as nice as someone who spends more time and effort in it, but you only have to put as much effort in as you want to
😱 no one understood me when I said my hair sticks together when it’s wet and it’s kind of hard to wash and run my fingers through. It almost feels rubbery. Thanks for the info! I have a lot of grey hair so probably high porosity.
That's because our hair is absorbing humidity AKA water and the cuticles are bloated. Not because our hair is dry. It needs more conditioning to satisfy the thirst and to smooth / seal the cuticles. Rinsing cold helps.
This video was so helpful! I've had 'wet frizz' for as long as I can remember and I never knew there could be any solutions to it! For the longest time I hated my curls cause I never knew how to take care of them. I ended up straightening my hair for 4 long years which led to SO MUCH heat damage to the point where my curls were basically non existent. I decided to put down the flat iron in June and change my shampoo and conditioner and I can already see the difference! I ordered my first styling product (curl cream) a few days ago and can't wait to try it and finally give my hair the moisture its been seeking for years. So glad I found your channel!
Gena Marie hey! I have a question. The day I wash my hair it looks really nice but when I wake up the next day it’s frizzy. Would you recommend a satin pillowcase?
I have straight hair but people with straight hair don’t know anything about porosity or pH or anything so it’s near impossible to find information to troubleshoot my hair. I want you to know that your videos are helpful for people with straight hair too! Thank you
No one in my family has curly hair and I have a 2c type of hair and I just hate to spend so much time and effort in making them look good and my family just can’t relate and are like “what do you do for so long inside the bathroom” Clueless
Leave the door open when styling 🙄 I started doing it in front of myfamily because I got the same backlash. My older sister has wavy/curly hair and only uses one product so.. I use 3. Tighter waves and curls in the back of my head.. It takes time mannn
same thing with my family too. I'm the only one in my family that has curly hair and I have type 2c/3a hair and they would complain that I take way too long in the shower. It's so annoying because they have no idea the amount of work curly hair needs in order to look good
I have been searching for months for an answer to what’s happening to my hair. Turns out I have high porosity hair on top of have been throwing oil on and sealing all that dryness in. Your video literally has changed my life!!! Thank u🥺
@@khasimali9352 honestly, I’m still trying to figure it out 2 years later lol. My biggest tips are to use a silk bonnet to sleep (regardless of your hair texture) and to never to go bed without drying your hair. Air drying isn’t preferable, as the extra moisture/humidity in the air is what causes your hair to frizz up. Even if you don’t use heat tools (I rarely do), make sure your scalp is completely dry before you sleep! I like to run the blow dryer on low heat over my scalp for a few minutes after I shower and usually let the rest air dry. use a thinner oil that can penetrate your hair, (google is your best friend for this), and apply the oil AFTER using your normal detangling/leave in conditioners while it’s still wet. using it after my products seals all of the moisture in, and leaves my hair super shiny and not frizzy at all. hair porosity is basically just helping explain how each hair types maintain moisture differently. the definitions still confuse me but the main point of hair porosity is to help determine which order of product application works best for your hair. at least this is what I have come to discover in my experience
I get this a lot! I'm in the transitioning faze because my hair got damaged by dying and bleaching. It's encouraging to see your journey with your hair and how hair can change over time 🥰
I've been curling girl for years now. I also started out using devacurl. I gave that up only after the scandal last year and my hair has really gotten fuller again but I still have so many things to figure out. Especially the moisture/protein balance. This has probably been one of THE most informative videos Ive seen to really help me figure how to read ingredients and see what works. thank you!
Finally, a video with my type of hair!!! Been struggling to find my hair type when looking up curly hair 4a/4b/4c pops up! When I saw the thumbnail my heart skipped a beat! Tysm!💕
It has a nammmmeeeee?!? So I’ve been trimming my ends unnecessarily b/c despite not seeing split ends I always assumed it was damaged 🤦🏾♀️ I also bleach and dye my hair so the very ends are high porosity where as the rest is low porosity 🥴 but it still curls normally so I’m not sure if it’s damaged 🤔
Haha yes! Yours sounds similar to mine. My hair is medium porosity at the root and high porosity at the ends. I think that’s common for porosity to increase towards the end. Bleach does cause the cuticle lift though which is damaging.
Holy shit it’s like you read my mind when you explained the Velcro feeling in the hair. That’s exactly what it feels like. I’ve been so lost trying to figure out what is wrong, now I feel better.
I've come to the realization that many hair TH-camrs don't understand the difference from high and low porosity. My hair was suffering because I was suffering under all the confusing lingo that is applicable to both porosities but I felt I resonated with the high end of it. This video (and a little common sense 😂) further validated my suspicions with the frizz, knots and the external look of my hair. Thank you Gena!
I needed this!! I have straight hair, but as soon as I leave the shower and towel dry my hair, it feels so terrible and rough and frizzy, Velcro is a perfect way to explain how it feels. So glad I can finally get rid of it. Never thought there was a name for it.
Thanks for getting this knowledge out there. For someone who lives in a country where few people have curly hair it's a damn nightmare trying to look after my daughter's hair. We have little access to products outside of people who have straight average porosity hair. Not to mention there being no one (that I've found yet) that knows their business about curly hair though they all claim to. The last salon I took my kid to had no clue what porosity even was, so when my kid's very high porosity hair dried so quickly she freaked out. I tried to explain about her hair but she just waved me off like I was speaking gibberish (she claimed there was no such thing as sulfate free hair 0_0). Again, I can't stress how helpful your videos are, thank you kindly.
OMG!! Ive been wondering about this for YEARS but had no idea how to explain it or what it was called! Now i understand why my hair would get like this when i was “following the rules” and using 3+ steps/products and cold water only to end up feeling like i needed to cleanse my hair constantly- its because my hair is low/medium porosity so everything just built up Thanks for being honest and clear about this
Thank you ma’am!! I have been dealing with my frizzy, extra thick, knotty, curly hair for almost 58 years now. I’ve had a multitude of different hairstyles. I’ve tried a multitude of different hair products. I’ve always had them dad-gum curly-ques sticking out all over my head mainly on the top. Now, I’m not one to put my personal business out there but I’ve got a terminal illness and I’m not looking for sympathy prayers, I’ll take. I’m just saying that your videos have been very helpful and informative. I’m on a lot of medication that has damaged my already dry hair. Believe it or not I have gotten it to grow back ( THANK YOU LORD ) it is now to the top of my belt! I told my husband that I would never cut it off however it is falling out gradually.😞
Thank you so much for the tips, my hair has been frizzy and dry for years, and i never understood why because i've never done anything to it. have very high porosity hair, and literally have to wash my hair every 3-4 days because the moisture just doesn't stay in and my curls get ruined. This really helped me better understand my hair!
Omg finally someone explaining it in a way I can understand! My daughter has strawberry blonde curly hair that I am struggling with big time! Can never get her hair wet enough it feels like on wash days, and your description of protein overload is exactly what I’m experiencing with her hair. Thank you for giving me a place to start in correcting her hair!
I don't know if any curlies out there have this same issue, but I noticed I get flashdrying if I use gel containing *aloe* *vera* ! Its weird, bc my hair seems to react to aloe vera as if its a protein, even tho it isn't. So, I made sure to first apply a good amount of (protein-free) leave-in and to also be lighter handed with the gel. That did the trick- no more flashdrying!😊💜
I have natural VERY dry hair, to the extent that I dye my hair so people will think its that way becuse of the dye. Its embarrassing to say... "that's my hair" (No-can-do) Thank you SOOOOO much for this info on "wet frizz" I have it and no one has addressed this! THANK YOU SO MUCH! P.S. ive used vinegar rinses but it messes with the color of my hair snd I dont see its "greatness" 😫
3:22 i’ve made this mistake before. i had a great experience using a mix of coconut oil and olive oil to lock in my moisture. i tried it a week later (without moisturizing before) and i had the worst and nastiest oily frizz. i was so confused. this was 3 years ago haha
I've had some good luck reducing wet frizz by just continually adding more water while I S2C in the shower. ...add some product (like conditioner or a leave-in) but a lot of water...since my head is upside down, I just put it under the water for a few seconds (and squish it a bit). Then as it rinses out, get out of the water and re-add some more conditioner then more water (and more squish)...and just keep doing it several times. Sometimes I just take the conditioner and rub it on each curl clump individually (I only have a few so that only takes a minute). And, when I do the final step (applying my mousse), I try not to really squish it too hard, but more like pushing the ends to the top of my head - but not making a "grabbing" motion. It just takes practice I think, but I've had great success lately with the *keep adding more water* philosophy. Also, over-moisturizing can cause frizz and s2c adds a lot of moisture. Try getting a conditioner with hydrolized protein or hydrolyzed quinoa. I just bought Giovanni deep moisture conditioner; it's great! It made my hair sooo shiny :) it has just a bit of protein in it. I even use a tiny bit extra as a leave-in because it's nice and lightweight. They have leave-ins too, but I just use the one.
Probably the only dude on here! But thank you so much! My hair is ridiculously thick and curly and have been struggling with this for years! Many thanks! 👊🏽
I just bought the Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate line. 56% less breakage* 82% less visible split ends** 11x smoother hair*** pH balancing Used it once and I can see a big difference in my hair.
This was so helpful! I love when TH-cam actually recommends something useful. 😂 I’m definitely jumping down the rabbit hole of your channel and seeing your other tips. Thank you! ☺️
thank you! this was very informative. can you do a video suggesting which shampoos, conditioners (protein free), creams, and gels are best for low porosity hair types? I am just starting my curly hair journey and I feel very lost with all the information
I have wavy hair And I’m really struggling with that! I have always wanted curly hair like yours and lately I’ve been having an issue with accepting my waves because I’ve always dreamed of your hair, the hair damage and me trying to plop my hair, use creams, use serums, curly hair products, and I can never get it! But the one thing that still gives me faith is the fact that the inside of my head has nice tight curls but the outside of my hair is just straight. I’m very confused, I probs am gonna go to my hairdresser about it.
I have 2 a hair and ppl say to don’t bother doing a wavy/curly hair method since my hair is borderline straight but the thing is that if I don’t do a wavy/curly routine my hair is just a frizz ball
Thank you so much for this video. I am dealing with protein overload but I believe I will win this challenge. People don’t talk about this. God bless you
I’m so sorry for getting off track and talking about my personal life!! Thank you for all the advice and information you should be called “ Dr. Curl “ have a Blessed Day!!!
About two months ago I used for the second time a deep conditioned w three different proteins. As soon as I applied a new gel I’ve never tried I got flash drying. For two weeks after that I dealt w major wet frizz. You’re so right about the amount of info about it. Flash drying too. After a lot of research and trying that new gel a month later w great results I assumed it was too much protein (or it was the hydrolyzed oat instead of the amino acids I usually use) on my low porosity hair. Thanks for the great info. It’s nice to know I was on the right track.
Yes! I had this happen when I used the Innersense I Create Volume on my bare hair that is dry and high porosity. It frizzed up instantly and started to air dry.
I am 17 have horrible wet frizz. My curls just turn to too much frizz and then my curls get lost in the frizz. I have straight, frizz curls, and I can’t style it. I end up having to brush my hair because my hair gets knotted from the frizz. I lose my curls entirely except for the ends after I brush. I have curls and I know that. My hair texture has changed after my mystery illness. This has been a long road and I just want my curls back!
Low porosity girls with virgin hair: RUN from protein! Do NOT jump on the rice water trend! Please listen to me! I am learning the lesson Edit: I have coarse hair texture and high density hair. Curl type: 3a3b (not that it matters)
Except I am low porosity and have virgin hair, and even Aphogee 2 step only lasts me one wash? Im so confused, I really think I need protein as there's none in my routine but whatever protein treatment I try never seems to be enough. Help lol
@@Handleshmandle1 do you have fine hair or coarse? Fine hair needs more protein then coarse hair does. Even if its low porosity, fine hair still needs some protein. I have coarse low porosity hair and protein is not my friend most of the time. If you do have fine hair I would incorporate a protein in your routine. Also, larger sized proteins like hydrolyzed soy, wheat etc, are better for fine hair. Keratin, and anything that says amino acids, or silk protein are smaller sized proteins that work better for coarse hair if/when it needs it. Try a moisturizing wash and condition, then use a styler with protein. Good luck!
Low porosity here! The rice water was fine for my hair, just don’t do it too often, try to keep it as a once or twice a month thing if you really wanna do it
Girl!!!!!! I have learned so much from you. Two deep conditioners I swear by are ORS Banana and Bamboo deep treatment and Creme of Nature Argan Oil Intensive Conditioning Treatment. Both leave my hair free of any tangles and so smooth.
I have 2b (coarse) hair and recently am going through this. I've tried all sorts of treatments and specialized conditioners and the ones with protein seemed to make everything worse. I recently found that almond oil has been taming most of the dry frizz, but still looking for better ways. Thanks for sharing this.
Loved your video. Well researched. I am struggling with wet frizz. I didn't even know it was a term but it comforts me if the issue has a name, it can definitely can be treated too! Thank you so much!
Another pro tip I picked up from another TH-camr is how one drys their hair! The texture of a standard towel will take out too much moisture! Try using a plain white cotton t-shirt! Just that alone has helped transform my natural curly hair! It’s something I never even thought of that would make that much of a difference, but it does!
Wow! This is so helpful. I didn't know what the term was for wet frizz but I have been experiencing it trying to get more of my natural waves to come out with routines like this. Thank you so much! Definitely going to check out your videos that you recommended in this one.
I’ve reversed my shampoo and conditioner because it helps with tangles on wash day. Thanks for this video because I never realized that I should condition my hair after shampooing. I would just add stylers.
Thank you so much for these videos. My husband keeps telling me to just keep adding more product and I'm like, once my hair is already coated in product, that ain't gonna do anything. You confirmed something in another video that I suspected but that he was very skeptical of, which was that product buildup was likely preventing moisture from getting into my hair and that what it actually needs is a deep cleanse. I'm gonna go for it later today and see if I can bring some life back into my hair. 😊
Webbing? So it has a name! Wet frizz? Thought it was just me. Thanks for posting this. I saw this after straightening my hair with relaxers for all my life. I think that using conditioner with ceramides helped in my case.
Thank you!! I've recently been watching all different wavy/curly hair videos to learn how to better get the most out of my hair without frizz. And this is one thing I noticed about my hair but didn't know what the name for it was. And I didn't see anyone else talking about it or having the issue. Thanks again!
Thank you for leading out there with this issue. My hair is likely (in curl type) the most like yours I've ever seen on TH-cam. I know I have various porosoties on my head. The back or crown of my hair is the driest and frizziest on my hair... also the highest porosity. It virtually looks dry under flowing water, it's soaking it up and letting go so fast it took a super slow down mode on camera to see it. It would suck up drops and let it go as fast as it sucked it up... I've never seen such a thing. Of course this has to be on MY head! The rest of my hair is normal porosity. So it's a real challenge to wash, condition and style my hair! The only cause we've been able to come up with for this is hormonal imbalance. I'm currently going through the "change" and so it's not altogether shocking it's happening but in a very obvious area of hair it's so frustrating, I have to treat the section of hair totally different than the rest of my hair, like I have two sets of hair on one head. I admit, it's hard... really hard not to have "the heck with this" days and just put it all up in a chompy for the rest of my life. I hope people will learn of this webbing and wet frizz syndrome and gain some success from your video. Again... thank you! Smiles and blessings...
Great video! My first of yours that I have watched. Am now a subscriber! Still relatively new to this curly thing. I fought it for over 30 years and thanks to COVID, decided last April to give my natural hair a chance. Thanks for the great info!!
My hair looks like that after conditioner, its so frizzy and its like wavy hair. What can I do? What is the difference between conditioner and deep conditioner? Help, I am really giving up.
The tips I shared in the video will help. Conditioner is not left on very long and gives moisture and helps detangle. Deep conditioner is a mask or treatment that is left on for 10-30 minutes and works to deeply moisturize. You rinse off deep conditioner off too.
Silly me, I just assumed that because I live in Yuma, Arizona where it is extremely humid would be the main cause of my constantly fighting frizzy hair. I too, have fine, high porosity, 3b to 3c hair and all of your advice has helped me so far. I'm going to try your suggestions one by one and figure this out. Thank you so much for all your informative videos and keep up the good work! I'm hoping someday that my hair will look as gorgeous as yours!
I've had this problem for years, but the twist is that I've super straight 1A, fine nordic hair.... Literally the straightest/ flatest hair imaginable. Thank you for all the tips, I'll try to follow them but with products for my hair type!
So much info Gena! It was great. I will say that because my hair is so super fine and wispy, I need regular protein to give it 'structure', but just not large amounts. I make sure that I get protein in every wash day and weekly in a mask. I think the my hair is closed cuticle, especially the top half, but even so, due to it's fineness, I need a bit of protein.
Brilliant. Thank you for all of your practicing and research. You do an excellent job of explaining the science and application. Your presentation style is calming and clear and you have camera presence which is just a bonus. Looking forward to tweaking my hair routine to incorporate some of your ideas. Oh, and glad to see another Gena with an “e”! The best way💁🏾♀️
I had this sticky feeling on my hair, and i always thought that my shampoo isn't good enough, that's why i change it regularly☹️ im glad you talked about this, i think i need to start using apple cider vinegar and deep condition more often 😊
I have this issue but only when refreshing my curls! Its the worst because my hair will dry like that and just leave me with a head full of frizz. Do you have any tips for refreshing hair to avoid this issue? Thanks! 😄
I have just learned a trick, I have a small spray bottle, and I put water and two drops of either argon oil or Marula oil into the water, I shake it then spritz my hair with it, and with my hands restyle my hair, I don’t put a comb thru it, but I do this with my finger tips, don’t overdo with touching it, my hair dries beautifully with no frizz , I do this on my second day after washing, sometimes even my third day.... it looks shiny and my curls are defined and most important no frizz, hope this helps
I love my hair masks, whether making my own at home or buying it. One I really like is super cheap & can buy it from Walmart! It comes in a brown pouch. Even when I condition my hair it's still dry looking & FRIZZY! I can use this stuff & my hair is so smooth, soft & NO FRIZZ! It's called KERATIN PROTEIN NO-FRIZZ HAIR(brownish-copper package) My hair is shoulder length & I can get about 4-5 uses out of a pouch/pack. It's $1.50 it's some of the BEST stuff I've ever used.
Here are 6 tips I found for you 1. Don't brush dry 2. Don't shampoo every day 3. Switch to a moisturizing conditioner and leave in 4. Increase quantity on conditioning hair 5. Deep condition every other week 6. Check your products for glycerin and alcohol hope was helpful 😀❤
I literally can’t brush my hair when wet. I have wavy to curly hair and it’s damaged and prone to breakage (it’s like what this video describes) whenever I brush my hair when wet I literally can’t get my brush through it. Any advice?🦋
I just have to say this video is absolutely fantastic! I have been dealing with this exact problem and while there’s a few videos that touch on the subject, none do so in a way that goes into so much detail. I didn’t have a single question by the end and that’s the sign of an extremely informative video lol. Thank you so much for passing on your knowledge!
'Ware the difference between over-conditioning and hygral fatigue! The first you can sort with a good clarifying wash (NOT adding protein), the 2nd may be beyond the reach of amendment. :(
I never commented on TH-cam. But this time i had to. My hair was so beautiful. But now I’m facing wet freeze from last 2 months. And I didn’t know what to do. I search a lot but I didn’t get anything informative. I literally was crying coz my hair wasn’t good anymore. Still They are not clumping. But i will definitely try what u said. I maybe facing coz of some product that doesn’t suits me. Thank you so much for this video.
I'd love a video on light weight easily absorbable moisture specifically ingredients to look for. I have low to medium porosity, fine hair low density and this is a struggle I've been having. I don't know what ingredients to look for. Even products recommendations would be good

Thanks for including the explanation of pH! When I've been struggling to find/replace a good conditioner I've used just shampoo then an oil instead of conditioner - never realised that could cause pH balance issues, nor that an a vinegar rinse could help temporarily balance that.

Ima try that , thanks for the help, I been having this issue.

I have no time to do all the recommended tips. I prefer the lowest maintenance methods
Same here. I have a baby and a toddler, work full time, and hardly any expendable money. I don't have the money or time to spend an hour + on my hair with 4 or 5 products that may or may not work.
I have a lot of wet frizz because I have random strands of hair that are 2 levels curlier than the rest of my hair. Any tips?
I have the same problem. I have type 1, type 2, and type 3 curls on my head! They are also different colors and different widths. I have a microscope at work so that's how I know!
me too honestly, if you ever find out let me know-
My problem too. I have 2b-3b curls and I find that styling using a denman brush really helps with it.
rainbowboombox I style with a denman brush, but I still can’t get them to match (I have type 3a hair and my flyaways are literally 3c) 😕
I have that too! Honestly I don't know. Like I have all type 3 on my head
My wet frizz tip: If your hair decides to pull a wet frizz prank on you, style it dripping wet and not damp and after it's dry wear it up in a pineapple for a couple of hours for more volume cause wet styling tends to have less volume than damp in most curlies
@Caramel Cupcake You should try wetting it with a spray bottlr after the shower
@Caramel Cupcake you mean low porosity?
@Caramel Cupcake
I have damaged high porosity hair and mine dries fairly quickly but not totally.
I imagined a person walking around with a hollowed out pineapple on their head, thank you for that mental image 😂😂
That's exactly what my hair looks like 💀
Im so glad she covered this topic 😭
Yesssss
I started styling my hair soaking wet with curl cream and hair gel, then wet plopping my hair. This seems to have solved my frizz & webbing.
what curl cream do you use?
what’s wet plopping?
@@aniemarie1305 I like to use Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie.
@@katfatho5417 Wet plopping is when you apply your products to wet hair then place a plastic cap on your head. This allows all our hair products penetrate deeper and reduce frizz.
@@twinsweare2 oh! Great idea - how long do you plop?
I feel like I have to take bio and chem 101 to get my hair to act right. Thanks for all the great tips. There’s so many different variables to either good or bad hair days, but a little (a lot) of trail and error and I might figure this out one day.
I've given up. Lol.
As a biology major in college who’s about to graduate, nothing you learn has to do with it 😭😭
I have slightly curly hair and honestly, I don't think anything worse could've happened to me.
Same. I’m very overwhelmed
Same lol
Hows it going? :D
I have this exact feeling its been going on for months now waht did u do to fix it ??
I don’t use any products with sulfate, haven’t used heat styling tools in a year, and my hair will have frizz 24/7

Check your diet
That's because our hair is absorbing humidity AKA water and the cuticles are bloated. Not because our hair is dry. It needs more conditioning to satisfy the thirst and to smooth / seal the cuticles. Rinsing cold helps.
deep conditioning
This video was so helpful! I've had 'wet frizz' for as long as I can remember and I never knew there could be any solutions to it! For the longest time I hated my curls cause I never knew how to take care of them. I ended up straightening my hair for 4 long years which led to SO MUCH heat damage to the point where my curls were basically non existent. I decided to put down the flat iron in June and change my shampoo and conditioner and I can already see the difference! I ordered my first styling product (curl cream) a few days ago and can't wait to try it and finally give my hair the moisture its been seeking for years. So glad
I found your channel!
Thanks for watching! So glad to hear you're now embracing your curls ❤️
Gena Marie hey! I have a question. The day I wash my hair it looks really nice but when I wake up the next day it’s frizzy. Would you recommend a satin pillowcase?
@@ewbae3402 yes

Wet frizz...me every time my hair gets wet. Thank you for the info!!
How did you get rid of it
No one in my family has curly hair and I have a 2c type of hair and I just hate to spend so much time and effort in making them look good and my family just can’t relate and are like “what do you do for so long inside the bathroom”
Clueless
Leave the door open when styling 🙄 I started doing it in front of myfamily because I got the same backlash. My older sister has wavy/curly hair and only uses one product so.. I use 3. Tighter waves and curls in the back of my head.. It takes time mannn
My family ALWAYS gets mad at me for spending so long in the bathroom. Like dude you guys have no idea what it’s like having curly hair smh🙄
same thing with my family too. I'm the only one in my family that has curly hair and I have type 2c/3a hair and they would complain that I take way too long in the shower. It's so annoying because they have no idea the amount of work curly hair needs in order to look good
I'm embarrassed to say that my hair looked like the thumbnail, but now that I used your tips, it doesn't! Thanks so much btw
Glad I could help!
Literally the photo in the thumbnail could be my hair. Looks exactly like it oh boy thank you! I needed this!!!
I have been searching for months for an answer to what’s happening to my hair. Turns out I have high porosity hair on top of have been throwing oil on and sealing all that dryness in. Your video literally has changed my life!!! Thank u🥺
So we shouldn't oil if we have high porosity hair?

Standard towels aren't great for hair and cause frizz.
Now i understand why my hair would get like this when i was “following the rules” and using 3+ steps/products and cold water only to end up feeling like i needed to cleanse my hair constantly- its because my hair is low/medium porosity so everything just built up
Thanks for being honest and clear about this
Thank you ma’am!!
What is flashdrying?
I have natural VERY dry hair, to the extent that I dye my hair so people will think its that way becuse of the dye. Its embarrassing to say... "that's my hair" (No-can-do)

So what i use for moisture?? Pls Help a sister 😢💔
@@asmahassan1727 water and then the oil. Cuz the oil seals the hair and if there's no water you're just gonna seal the dry hair which makes it drier
WOW you are the first person EVER I have heard say that WATER moisturizes and not oil......this is so true!! Our dehydrator for skin and hair is WATER

Oh my god is this what I’m doing wrong :(
Except I am low porosity and have virgin hair, and even Aphogee 2 step only lasts me one wash?

I have found testing the pH of my products with pH straps & adding lemon juice helps my high porosity hair significantly.
I’ve never seen a video on this before and have ALWAYS struggled with it. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU💓💓
Another pro tip I picked up from another TH-camr is how one drys their hair!

My hair looks exactly like yours when wet, but turns into a bush when dry!
Curl families... such a cute description of clumps 😍😍🥰🥰 thank you for this video! Very helpful as always!
You are so pretty and your hair is gorgeous! Curly hair is hard to manage but so pretty

Thank you so much for all your informative videos and keep up the good work! I'm hoping someday that my hair will look as gorgeous as yours!
Good video and another way of curving the frizz is at the end of the drying process use a pomade to scrunch our the crunch from your gel

I've had this problem for years, but the twist is that I've super straight 1A, fine nordic hair.... Literally the straightest/ flatest hair imaginable. Thank you for all the tips, I'll try to follow them but with products for my hair type!
Such a great video! Straight to the point, very informative, chopped up into sections. Well done!
So much info Gena! It was great. I will say that because my hair is so super fine and wispy, I need regular protein to give it 'structure', but just not large amounts. I make sure that I get protein in every
wash day and weekly in a mask. I think the my hair is closed cuticle, especially the top half, but even so, due to it's fineness, I need a bit of protein.
Totally makes sense!
great video! love seeing other fellow fine haired curly girls!

I literally can’t brush my hair when wet. I have wavy to curly hair and it’s damaged and prone to breakage (it’s like what this video describes) whenever I brush my hair when wet I literally can’t get my brush through it. Any advice?🦋
Only brush your hair when its slippery (conditioner)

My hair is 2B 2C wavy and I've got that frizz. Honestly I'm about to go back to blow drying straight every day. Wavy/curly hair is too much work!
Aw thank you!

I'd love a video on light weight easily absorbable moisture specifically ingredients to look for. I have low to medium porosity, fine hair low density and this is a struggle I've been having. I don't know what ingredients to look for. Even products recommendations would be good
