Captain's Log: 1635 hours, day 16, lunar cycle 10, year 2341. The Legion's newest ship, the Nialliv, was sent deeper into Scarlet Dawn territory, the brass said that they needed more "proper tests" for the capabilities of R&D's latest, and acclaimed final from-scratch design, due to the simulation facility being technically difficult as of late, and that the engineers were tired of rigged fights, which would make sense, considering the Dawn's the only real major threat remaining on Neter. We had reached sector 11-11 for one of her first real field tests. Against us, the Dawn had sent us a Pulsar gunship, a Dark Star dreadnought, a Velocity interceptor, a Wyvern, and one of their Anarchist heavy assault craft. At first, their forces had looked to be no match, as my girl came equipped with two tri-barreled laser turrets, coupled with a medium 5-barrel laser broadside, each installation on it's own system, two twin-barreled rail cannons, with shells travelling far faster than anything seen without the proper projectile tracking systems in place, some cheap-looking slabs of point-defense laser systems, which are surprisingly effective, despite the fact that they absolutely hog energy from the Nialliv, and some small torpedo banks to replace our smokescreen, removing some of our anti-laser defenses in favor for the reliability of sub-aquatic counter-attacks. I had my eyes glued to the live feed of the tactical layout, brought to my holotable thanks to the latest in detection systems from our software engineers back home, as per usual, and then I noticed what looked to be a minor glitch where our vessel was, her piece had gone askew, as if she was being capsized by some leviathan from the deep. Then I heard it. The screams of the Anarchist's engine bays, making it roar overhead, hearing the faint sizzling of steel being reshaped on it's outer hull, which had been music to my auditory implants- then I was thrown to the side of the combat suite, like a child's unwanted doll, making me flash back to when my previous command had nearly become my last. After a brief moment, I tried standing up again, only to find that the world had felt sideways, forcing me to stand on what should be the starboard wall of the command room. I looked again to the tactical display, and increased the zoom in my left eye to 5x, to gain more details. I shut my right eye, to remove visual confusion, and clear as day, the Nialliv had been shoved onto her starboard flank, like a sleeping cow, only to find itself laying on it's side mere seconds after being tipped over by some cocky bastard. Then I'd become furious, nearly matching Master Khorne when a servant fails to unveil his Khorne Flakes on time, and that's a sight that I'd never curse upon any man, friend or foe. I reached up to the floor, and used my false arm and magboots to return me to my desk, now having to lean violently against gravity, to avoid breaking my spine again. I gripped the microphone like death did me that one day only 5 cycles ago, and yelled into it, ordering navigation to erect the ship again, and keep firing upon any enemy that came within the crosshairs of any weapons, and to make sure that the torpedo bays were set to maximum output. Granted, the ship wasn't originally designed to take a graviton ram to her flank, but she had managed, over the course of several minutes, to re-right herself, despite the lack of ability to compensate. I'll have a few choice words with my Admiral once I return to dock, for I swear having heard his cackling at the misfortune of my men and girl. But until that moment, I must focus on the Crusade, for Neter must be liberated from the corrupt leaders of the heretics, and be returned to the Light of the Gods.
Yup the Anarchist has Gravrams because its fixed guns cannot fire on a target unless the target is stationary or moves in its way, it generally just circles around just far enough. I had to beg the developer to add that. xD I am glad you liked the little quirk. A lot of others are salty about its addition.
Well If any faction outside of the Lightning Hoods should have Grav shells, It should certainly be the Scarlet Dawn! Honestly that made my day so I'm very happy they were kept in! Honestly something like that which can be countered by proper shielding should have no real salt when added to the end game faction in my eyes, so thanks again for that! ^_^
Personal Log #10: This is it, we were sailing across the great abyss oceans after having escaped the Blood Guard, our ship was thankfully working very well, the engineers checked up every corner and found no apparent malfunctions. Such a calm place, only the sounds of the waves hitting the hull, the stars and the moon lighting the night's sky and the water as smooth as oil and as dark as it, yet this serenity had some eeriness to it, very few traversed these seemingly lifeless waters and no one knows what lurks in them, at any moment we could face unkown dangers. Erika and I were on our shifts to take command of the ship, it was starting to get late and soon another person came to replace us. We started walking toward the bow and met with Bill whom was sitting by a fire along with some other former captains of various factions. He called us: "Ahoy matey ! So how are y'all findin' this cruise ?" "It certainly is relaxing not to have to worry about the Blood Guard blasting us into giblets", I replied "Heh, if you've heard the legends you'd know this won't be a pleasant ride, there are monsters of unimaginable size and ferocity lurking deep in these waters preyin' on any unsuspectin' targets" "Pffft, monsters ? Do you really believe that nonsense ? It's just fishes that were never seen before, I doubt our armament as basic as it might be would have trouble to dispatch these creatures",said Erika "As you wish lady", said Bill as he took a chug from his bottle of rhum We continued walking toward the bow and started contemplating the starry night's sky "It's so beautiful, reminds me of my childhood when my father and me camped on one of the small islands away from the cities, such serenity",said Erika "It's so beautiful indeed...Although there is just something eerie about it, I don't exactly know what it is..." "The fear of the unknown ? Not being able to determine what truly awaits us ?" "I suppose so, this ocean could be our salvation as much as it could be our doom, in the end we may as well not find a new home, I'm not sure what to expect" She placed her hand on my shoulder "Cyber, just enjoy the moment, this is a rare instance of peace" We stayed on the bow a few more minutes to gaze at the stars and returned to our quarters for rest. We've sailed for weeks, and only water as far as one could see, food and water were not a problem as we could set up nets and catch plenty of fish and purify the seawater for drinking however our main issue was that all of us felt lost, only water on the horizon with no true indication of where we were, tension was getting high and even Erika whom tried to keep everyone together started succumbing to the madness. This wasn't good, we were losing hope and people started to form their own groups instead of working together. After what I would presume was a week or two on a cloudy day what we feared happened, all groups consisting of former inhabitants of the different factions stood on the deck ready for a fight "You river sailors have no place aboard this ship, we're on the abyss oceans and I bet y'all can't pull your weight in a storm",said Bill "If someone is keeping this pile of junk floating it's us, you savages wouldn't even be able to mend a damaged hull if your life depends on it !", said one of the engineers Erika rushed towards them and yelled: "Enough ! What do you think you're all doing ? We must work as a team now, I don't know what conflicts you had in the past but you need to leave it behi..." "And who told ye could be the one leadin' us ? huh ?", said Bill "She is right, Bill, calm down we cannot afford to fight each others, we always did in the past and now look where it led us", I said "Heh, you Onyx Watch Bastards, y'all the same thinkin' you're so high and mighty. But in the end you're just a failure claimin' to be a Baron, even your father didn't want you and in the end you let your wench do all the dirty work for ya !" I pulled out my saber "I dare you to repeat that again you lousy rat !" Bill also unsheathes his cutlass and says: "heh, suddenly ye get the guts to fight me eh ? I think I'll take that out of ya" As we charge at each other suddenly a lightning bolt strikes one of the antennas on the bridge, and a heavy rain starts falling, an enormous storm was coming our way, we all stopped fighting and went to our posts, the gods decided to stop us from killing each other, instead they would kill us themselves. -Baron Von Cyberus, the crestfallen deserter
You should make a sub that's designed to stay as low as possible, in order to use graviton ram cannons to blast enemies out of the water and into the air. That would be awesome.
I would love to see if it will work on a fortress, like say the last one he'll kill gets shot up from below from a graviton shot and it explodes like fireworks. That'll be a great ending.
Just mount the shields on the turrets. Turrets face the enemy whenever possible so shields will, 9.9/10 times be facing the incoming rounds. You can’t account for missiles with that, but you have LAMS with will swat missiles and crams for you. Mount a shield at the bottom and top of each turret, set them to opposite elevations, make sure they intersect to give you at least partial double coverage (you can put three on each turret which I’ll give you double coverage everywhere and triple coverage most places) and you’ll have some really good shields that will cover the vital components of your ship and which can also turn to face the enemy.

Desperately need settings to force design spawn parameters more rigidly. Seeing the end game factions regularly underperform on account of the game not spawning things properly. Nice seeing the Anarchist make an impression, it's another one of Hikari's designs, and was built to counter forward broadsiders like the Medrengard or Kobold. The Casimir unfortunately never got to spawn properly, it's supposed to practically skim the surface like a hovercraft, going at 15m or more, but that just can't happen with the way the game keeps spawning it. I saw that the Sagittarion, something I built, was generated as part of a fleet, and I'm hoping the restart didn't change anything with it being on the map.
At least they still all spawn at the right height in the designer, so it's not the campaign builder's fault. On the other hand players have to deal with the game's inherent issues, so there's no excuse for not requiring campaign fliers to have a get-me-out-of-the-water dediblade or two.
Thing is that we can't go devoting so much surface area, power, and blocks to such things. The running assumption with end game factions is that if a flying unit hits the water then nothing can save it. I know that Majyst has asked Nick to find a solution to fleets spawning units inside of each other, whether that means tools he can use to define safety parameters or automatic detection, something should be on the way.
Hm, ok, I can agree with that. If the campaign spawner can read whatever tags the designer spawner uses ( I really hope that stuff isn't hardcoded into the designer ) then spawning at the right altitiude should be trivial, given the game already knows how. Otherwise there's no way for the campaign to know if a craft is a flier. Incidentally what happens if you set the altitude axis in MinCoords in the bp to above water? I guess you'd have to manually edit every BP by hand, but maybe that will guarantee a proper spawn?
See Lathrix is totally the good guy he lets his enemy fight back, he doesn't want to make a ship super op by giving it really good armor and shields and he is a good sport SEE hes not a bad guy at all he's the best lathrix (pets the lathland channel logo)
2:20 so you mean the best counter you have for the nialliv is your adventure 2020 sub ? I would love to see them clash (if the nialliv still even works with the updates)
You could make a satellite, even though enemies might not be able to shoot at it, you could make it very underpowered and spawn further away than normally so that even the 45* lasers could fire at it. Also you could make them able to go against Scarlet Dawn's spaceships. Or just build it in the next season, but I'd like to see any sort of orbital support.
Harbinger Autumn log#1577: The warp storm finally lifted and our communication to the invasion fleet was reestablished. Though they have looked at the situation and our not too pleased with my leadership. To them i am an excuse for an Harbinger that should be off the planet immediately. Though fortunately or unfortunately an Imperial Viper-class was spotted exiting the warp outside of the system. So the invasion fleet has more pressing matters to attend to. I would not be terribly surprised if they left the system if a larger force arrived leaving Neter behind. Now we wait who comes first the Chaos legion on our doorstep or the Imperium's fist.
Hey Lathrix, if you had side pontoon thingies ( i can't remember the right word... like a cataraman? ) would that have stopped you flipping from the graviton ram? just curious.
Unlikely, though it would make recovering from such attack faster if the internal rotors were placed there as they would be further from the center of mass, they would also make recoil and basic movement more stable. Sadly though this is a lot of volume to dedicate!
So I was writing a peice of homework and I see that this video was uploaded and I just dropped everything an watched the entire thing Basically I just want to say lath, keep up the good work
What's the software you use to record From the Depths. Because I've gotten to the point of Twin Guard as my third faction and on top of me realising I was severely under-prepared with my first skirmish, the lag was unbearable. I am playing on expert and I'd just like to know. I've tried OBS, I've tried Fraps and well... The lag was worse. Please help me, o glorious leader of Khorne's legion.
you don't need high strength shields to severely impact kinetic energy shells (as they often travel very fast and very straight). a strength 1 shield with a 45 degree angle to a high velocity shell has some 50%+ chance of reflecting it.
Just tested it: Already at an impact velocity of 250m/s and impact angle of 45 degrees, the probability of the shell being reflected is 50% with a strength 1 shield.
Graviton rams are extra broke on ashes of the empire, the enemys either fly upwards and crash down or they slide around like a soap on the bathroom floor.
Funnily enough the hatch I have at the top for the hidden missiles is completely able to be flipped onto its side for firing Torpedoes from the side of heavy armour sections - So perhaps in future builds when torpedoes are needed again!
2 things, i want to see the thyr and the (sorry) niallev together and you need to be a faction or a designer, you have some very nice looking crafts even if you dont admit it, but they hit hard you are truly a great builder
I have a question, what type of engine or type of electricity generation are You using to power the railguns? Or are the railguns Just made tot be efficient? I'm asking this because my railguns user about 200k electricity a shot so In can't have them shoot faster than 4-5rpm
Lath I have an idea for a campaign challenge. Anti heal challenge. What it is is that you can build anything you want but you CANNOT heal your ships between fights or during fights.
Inkling2003 2003 he's done it before the problem with satellites pretty much nothing and shoot them and it feels a bit cheeky because they almost invincible to all cram cannons the only thing that can have them are lasers particle cannons really really long range missile sorry I used voice to text it's not very good too lazy to write
Zap Gun well yeah I meant to say them but the voice thing didn't pick it up sorry that sounds a bit arrogant I didn't mean it to sound that way have a good day
Even then it's very easy to go high enough that you're immune to everything - targeting gets screwed up by the change in atmosphere & countering lasers is fairly simple.
Richard Dastardly the point is it makes again way too easy there's no having to adapt trudging along with the same design that would be extremely boring and I think you'd get bored of it after 1 Episode how it maybe even 3 fights of him just sitting at the top of that satellite raining hell upon the enemy they really need to fix the space combat make it so the space box is way way higher up I think it's at like 1000 or 700 and most engines cut out at about 600 to 500 keep in mind I haven't played the game in years cuz my computer is fucked so if they changed any of this stuff I probably don't know what the point is if they made it so the atmosphere was a lot higher and space was a lot higher up maybe 2000 or something maybe 1500
Yup, I saw It - It is a single cylinder and exhaust that was left in the side armour that I found afterwords - not even making enough heat to lower the effectiveness of itself! If that was the main engines you would see the engine power drop far more dramatically rather than having 7k spare at the hottest. :)
You should add weapons under that dreadnought so that when the Anarchist flips it, it'll be a submarine and shoot the enemy until it gets back upright!
And I said, bounce a graviton particle beam off the main deflector dish! That’s the way we do things, lads, we’re making s*** up as we wish; the Klingons and the Romulans, they pose no threat to us, ‘cuz if we find we’re in a bind, we just make some s*** up!
Actually yes! Armour with armour behind it actually has a modifier to its Armour value based on how many layers and the layers original value. All the protection!
It's down to two things - A lot more practice has occurred since the ol' Hull and Bunker days, and secondly this is now my full time job so I can put a lot more time into ensuring details and such on new vehicles are more up to scratch! :) With that said, Hull + Bunker + Spite Will always have a place in my heart ^_^
Hey lathrix how do you set up ai's for your ships? I recently started playing and I tried making a broadsiding ship but instead it does everything in it power to ram absolutely everything.
Side note: how are you setting it up to ram everything? I've been trying to build a ramming ship but instead it does everything it can to escape absolutely everything regardless of how I set the AI.
I havent actually found the Singularity as impressive as youve been saying, given how easily you always blew it up. Id love to see the Singularity fighting against something of equal strength so we can really see how it performs
The Singularity is a bit of an odd one in that you will never really see it fight something of 'equal strength' it is a hard counter to craft such as the Medrengard and World Eater in that it quickly gets around enemies that are static in that they only fire in one direction - It also requires minimal shielding + laser defences to do well, so it's either going to crush an opponent or.. well, not do all that well at all! When I say I find it impressive, it's more that as a piece of work its a very complex and very very interesting design that has been made incredibly well with a lot of effort that honestly I don't think I'm anywhere near the level of! For it's volume and resource count I really do believe it's up there as one of the best craft in the game, It's just a very hard-counter type of craft that itself gets countered pretty easily.
hey could you try to do a ftd mulitplayer tutorial i can never get it to work and when it does it is very laggy any way to maybe you ports and direct connect or annything
i had an unbreakable ship but it was the size of an cuti and even if you don't spawn it it will kill your computer. it was as big as a city and had around 200 cannons. along with 1000 small anti air turrets. it never seen battle but it had a kill count. i had to delete the design of the ship or my computer would keep crashing every time i tryed to play the game.

Lathlands reaction to a multi million dollar craft getting flipped in its side was not rage, sadness or indignation it was in fact. Laughter.
who wouldn’t laugh when a world-ending superheavy battleship flipped xD

Hey Lath do you think you can play avorion at some point the game has received a few updates since you last play
How may different vehicles that were NOT the singularity did Lathrix call a singularity
"Look how big the hole is! Oh, that's glorious!"
-Lathrix, 2017
Could you make an armoring guide for wood metal and heavy armor and how to combine them effectively ?
Rigel spam ships as much as possible
Quantity>quality
See Lathrix is totally the good guy he lets his enemy fight back, he doesn't want to make a ship super op by giving it really good armor and shields and he is a good sport
SEE hes not a bad guy at all he's the best lathrix (pets the lathland channel logo)
2:20 so you mean the best counter you have for the nialliv is your adventure 2020 sub ? I would love to see them clash (if the nialliv still even works with the updates)
Test Nialliv against a Nialliv? Would be amazing to watch. Even more amazing if you change one of their shells to be graviton rams xD
Does anyone, ANYONE, remember that reassembly tournament lathrix promised us? I’m still waiting for that...
So I was writing a peice of homework and I see that this video was uploaded and I just dropped everything an watched the entire thing Basically I just want to say lath, keep up the good work
Exactly what I do every time.
When the Nialliv rolled over was amazing! XD It's like a puppy that rolled over wanting a belly rub.
its perfect a flipped battleship that can be turned into a sub!
capture an anarchist and make it an aircraft carrier for a bunch of carnage’s, because it looks like a big carnage
That ship is bigger then my ENTIRE fleet in Quest For Neter
"Help I have fallen and can't get up" Lathrix 2017
you don't need high strength shields to severely impact kinetic energy shells (as they often travel very fast and very straight).
a strength 1 shield with a 45 degree angle to a high velocity shell has some 50%+ chance of reflecting it.
Just tested it: Already at an impact velocity of 250m/s and impact angle of 45 degrees, the probability of the shell being reflected is 50% with a strength 1 shield.
Haha I agree, that's why I actually bring up that very fact near the end! :)
Roses are Blue
Violets are Red
Khorne is blue
And tzeench is red... in the Scarlett's blood.
Just add some shields like one or two over ammo or ai
“Look how big the hole is, Oh that’s glllooooorius” - Lathrix 2017
oh lathrix , you are so simply amused , a simple flip is enough to amke you laugh for a week
Graviton rams are extra broke on ashes of the empire, the enemys either fly upwards and crash down or they slide around like a soap on the bathroom floor.
13:18 is the satrt of flip and that laugh and that flip reallly made me laugh until 13:40 my god thats hillarious!
Bring back the wooden legion as scouts, they were the stars of the beginning of the series, they deserve a "good guy" send off
@Lathland by chance would you do a series on how you go about making your guns and lasers and other things you learned about the game ?
Lathrix, add passive sonars and your LAMs will kill sonar guided torpedoes.
@lathland I would love to see the small hidden missiles turned into a torpedo thrower. sort of a "SURPRISE! We have torpedoes!"
The graviton ram thing made me smile so much, and I love how you called it a complete ass
"Little torpedo system!" *10 armadas of torpedoes destroy the ship*
Hey lathland congrats on 200k subs
Thank you :)
no, thank YOU for making these videos.
well done on 200k lathland
Haha. It's just happy to have a place in the Blood Guard's mighty navy Lathrix.
And remember "We are the good guys"
Lathrix! Use all your old craft like the E.coli and Salmonella, that would be epic even if they don't really work
I think the Ashes of the Empire Campaign has been updated....
To the creator of Anarchist:
I love the name,
I love how it looks,
I love its concept,
PLEASE REMOVE THAT BOUNCY THING!!
Bouncy thing?
Graviton Ram cannon.
I have a question, what type of engine or type of electricity generation are You using to power the railguns? Or are the railguns Just made tot be efficient?
I'm asking this because my railguns user about 200k electricity a shot so In can't have them shoot faster than 4-5rpm
that might be the greatest moment in this series
My daily dose of Lathrix entertainment
oi, Lath, what a nice birthday gift you made for me with that new FTD vid. Thank you so much :)
Hey, Lath, how about coming back to the avorion? They had pretty nice update, where you can design and produce your own fighters.
Wow. I just need to make a pure gravaton vehicle, and name it after some kind of Anti-depressant lol
Thanks for being a good sport. The Blood God is pleased.
I've always wondered how does Scarlet Dawn use a mobile fortress, some trick with a fortress controller? Or is it just a vehicle controller?
I know this vid is old, but do hollow points operate well with railguns? I'm trying to tear chunks off of bulwarks.
villain
nailliv
That's opposites!
Coincidense? No.
Illuminati? Maybe.
Hotel? Trivago.
Lath I have an idea for a campaign challenge. Anti heal challenge. What it is is that you can build anything you want but you CANNOT heal your ships between fights or during fights.
I think that he should play a campaign where he has a single vehicle for each enemy faction and he upgrades them as it goes on.
GLORY TO KHORNE!! THE SEAS OF NETER SHALL RUN RED WITH OUR ENEMIES’ BLOOD!!!
Lathrix, have you fought a Dragon Ogre Shaggoth in Warhammer 40k?
you should build a battle satelight next season. please it would be sick!
Advanced cannons and railguns can work too, but they're very easy to shield too since shells will only ever realistically come from below.
I would love to see a campaign with a faction made up of your most ridiculous designs.
"Exhaust pipes that do not point out of the vehicle - cooling is reduced"
Yup, I saw It - It is a single cylinder and exhaust that was left in the side armour that I found afterwords - not even making enough heat to lower the effectiveness of itself! If that was the main engines you would see the engine power drop far more dramatically rather than having 7k spare at the hottest. :)
Make a Point Defense Shield system maybe? I.E. Shields on turret blocks
The armor is very well-protected, so you're saying
Your armor has armor?
Actually yes! Armour with armour behind it actually has a modifier to its Armour value based on how many layers and the layers original value.
All the protection!
I will definitely take note of that next time.
Lathix make a GIANT oil rig or something really BIG that can hold and drop the Nialiv into the ocean.
Are railguns just better than regular adv. cannons for everything?
I've been watching your old ftd vids, the difference between Nialliv and Hull from s3 is amazing
It's down to two things - A lot more practice has occurred since the ol' Hull and Bunker days, and secondly this is now my full time job so I can put a lot more time into ensuring details and such on new vehicles are more up to scratch! :)
With that said, Hull + Bunker + Spite Will always have a place in my heart ^_^
3rd time watching series ;D
bought and tried ftd around v2.4, discovered the 'learning curve' was a sheer face like the cliffs of Dover xD
It feels like the Yamato, a super battleship and expensive got sunk in a single battle :)
How do you put the picture url for the picture and the flag, all I get is an question mark
Congrats on 200k
First time I've heard latherix say ass or arse
When laths reaction to the fight is better than the fight...
Yay! Lath likes the velocity!
A new challenge for lathrix-win a campaign using only graviton rams
*ENGAGE 200K DANCE*
the entire comments section starts dancing
For real, Lath, congrats!
latherix you should do tours of the insides of your new ships
Tfw no angry marines ramming battle barges into everything
Feelsbadman
The Dark Star reminds me of the battle hovercraft from sodium one Salt shooter from Lockwood PlayStation Home
Lathrix 2017 are you using gravaton rams?
Flip all the battleships!
Hey latherix. You should try gravaton rams against the capital ship from the last campaign. That would be hilarious!
A good idea is to make the battleship fly so it can be even harder to kill.
Build a main base for your campaings coming in the future!
i mean a craft that's the main craft that if the craft get's destroy you lose blah blah blah
I can't build good ships, so I made them cheap glass Cannon's
They tend to sink when they turn
hey could you try to do a ftd mulitplayer tutorial i can never get it to work and when it does it is very laggy any way to maybe you ports and direct connect or annything
Shear badassery!!
Will it be added to the workshop?
Congrats on 200k subs!
Lathland should make the biggest ship he can
i had an unbreakable ship but it was the size of an cuti and even if you don't spawn it it will kill your computer.
it was as big as a city and had around 200 cannons.
along with 1000 small anti air turrets.
it never seen battle but it had a kill count.
i had to delete the design of the ship or my computer would keep crashing every time i tryed to play the game.
Lathrix should do a campaign that is the opposite of what he is doing now, he should make 1 really overpowered ship.
I think I never clicked on a video so fast
Dead baby90 yep
Dead baby90 One could say you exterminated the video.
True
You should put your ships, the ones that are too op for the devs to use, against other player's op ships
Now I can't help but imagine a submarine only faction.
Always look forward to the FTD vids.
