I agree, When I made this, the M2 was just announced, but now with M1 MacBooks becoming more and more affordable, that should be where people look first! If that’s still too expensive, then a more recent intel can still work for some people with lighter work flows.
@@masonblack2861 Yeah $750 is crazy cheap for Apple but in reality that is still so much money for a lot of us. But YES! I do think that 2019 MacBook Air would be the right fit for regular school use.
@@masonblack2861I got a 2018 used MacBook and it’s been amazing for taking notes and my basic needs in university. I also only paid $330 off eBay perfect condition
If you have a Costco near by, they have some decent deals on MacBooks. Not sure if it’ll be close to your budget but you can find some that will be close to like 25% off some months
@@ardentlytech I mean I’m kinda a college student that’s kinda broke rn lol so I’m just trying to figure out which one I should get and how old is too old for a MacBook. I’m thinking of getting 2015 maybe a 2017 just not sure.
Hahaha definitely valid! I would say both are solid options for you! I’d just be careful where you buy them and make sure it’s not an iCloud locked MacBook!
I have a few friends who are coding with their intel based MacBooks still and having little to no issues. I’m not well versed in what it takes for computers to code well but I’m sure the M1,M2 and M3 MacBooks would be able handle that well. But you may not need them necessarily. Thats just my guess! Hope that helps and sorry for the late reply
Not a coder myself but I asked a friend who does and he has a newer 14” MacBook Pro. He previously had a 13”MacBook pro that did a good job for him too
Doesn't matter the model. As long as it's not too old that it cannot run modern dev tools and it has enough ram, it's good enough. If you're doing mobile applications development which requires runing simulations on your machine, get the newest model you can afford. If you're just doing some casual web dev or simple desktop apps, an older model with 16gbs of ram is the best choice. Speaking from my exprience, a 15" 2015 macbook pro with 16gbs of ram is a lot better than a 13" 2017 macbook pro with only 8gbs of ram. Even then, you should still consider windows laptops unless you're an IOS dev.
@@shirakuyanai4095just recently gotten a 15in 2015 with a 2.5ghz i7 and it has its own dedicated gpu you think it would be good for CS? I also used Open core for the latest patches you think there would be issues with it?
Totally great options too! Both have much budget friendly options for students! I just made a video based off a question I got from a friend who wanted to know which MacBook was best for students.
I’m not 100% positive of how rigorous those animation software are but I would suppose you could find a lot of benefit with some of the M1 macs. The M3 were recently announced and that might make M1 macs a bit more affordable especially if refurbished/ used. Not sure how well intel based MacBooks would handle animation. Thats just my guess tho!
Not sure what kind of tasks you will need to do when studying epidemiology, but I don’t think you’d be disappointed with the performance of any M1 MacBook or newer.
Lmao😂😅 that is also a solid option: for those who don’t want a mac check out the laptop deals at Costco this month: th-cam.com/video/9g17oubzJps/w-d-xo.html
Mac laptops absolutely shit on their windows competitors. If you want a windows laptop that can compete you will be spending a minimum $2500 to even compete against a $1200 MacBook.

Wut
or you could just air drop it if both your devices are apple
Don’t buy a intel Mac period. If your buying a MacBook in 2023 or later very important get one with at least a M1 chip

Where can I get a deal on 2022 M2 MacBook Air 🥺😩 I’m on a $500-$600 budget. I currently use a 2012 MBP and it’s now slow as hell 😭.

Any MacBook should do what you need it to do but if you want to future proof, go with anything after the M1 Chip

There are some reasonably priced old MacBooks that don’t cost nearly as much as a brand new M1 or M2 MacBook
